Hey there, O-zies! Is everyone back to their regularly scheduled weekday after long weekends in CA and the US?
I am pretty sure I can confidently say that CA did not have a mass shooting on Canada Day. How utterly American is that, a shooting at a 4th of July parade. </3

It was an eventful day from the time I got up to the time I went to bed- ran through every sort of emotion I think. I kept grabbing Caitlyn's hand, the ring is so pretty. I am really happy for them! I didn't want to deal with the party stuff so I went outside again instead. She and Tom went down to tell my ILs in person and she called my parents to invite them here for lunch today.
As soon as I got in from weeding, I see the news about the shooting. A half an hour later, my friend across the street texts me that the house next door to me is on fire. This was the 4th house fire on my street in the past few years and the street is only 1/2 mile from end to end. Eep! She invited me to sit at her house while we watched the fire and first aid trucks pulling in. She said something about how she was talking to Dani (her DD) and how Caitlyn said that she wants her to come up when she gets married and OMG- I almost slipped about her engagement. Caitlyn wanted to tell Debbie in person and had already told Dani but made her promise to not say anything to her mom.
After Cait and Tom got home from ILs, she walked over to Debbie's. Then Debbie texted me -- "So *that* is why you were acting so weird." After I almost gave up the news to her, I said that I had to go home and practically bolted back across the street. Hahaha!!!

I was teasing Scott about how you are all Team Sam and he joked back "How about Team Scott, is anyone Team Scott??" Told him that you have always been Team Scott LOL

If any of what I wrote made any sense to you, I will be shocked. I tried to reread it and clean up some of the streams of consciousness but I don't think it helped.

Today is doing some stuff around the house and then my parents are coming here on their way home from PA. I'd better get tissues on hand for my mom.

@LSlycord No date, they are planning at least 2 years - they want to be financially stable and live together for a while before they get married. Every time my kids hit a milestone, I look back and wonder how the heck my parents did it? My brother moved out days after my wedding. How did they go from the 4 of us at home to just the 2 of them?
I think I am the only person in the world that only saw Top Gun once and barely remembers it. I am glad that you got to see it, even if you made your butt a bit toasty. That is something I would do too

@BrightEyes I haven't slept well the last few nights either and wish I could somehow sleep late. Hopefully, tonight will be easier and no fireworks to keep you up
How was your visit with DD#3? That is fantastic that she is getting around well. Does she still need to do PT?

I love coconut shrimp but I can't imagine mashed potatoes as a side. The entire dinner sounds delish! I love comfort food

I think I am the only person in the world that only saw Top Gun once and barely remembers it.

All I remember I thought it was crap. LOL

Slept so late today, I had breakfast for lunch. We had plans to go to IKEA today, but that didn't happen. No real plans, I'll make some dinner, and then I guess we'll end up in the sofa. We started on Sense 8 and boy is it a weird show. But - we love it.

Really need to get going on our vacation plans, and get some stuff organized, but we both end up spending all day by the puters. Urban has started on some serious research for his new book & I think he's started writing the first draft as well. I'm sure he will be spending all of his vacation by the puter. That man can get absorbed!

Good Morning everyone! It is very cloudy this morning, but the forecast says we should see the sun soon! I am hoping to be able to get out in the back yard sometime today and get the rose bushes trimmed up. That is about all I really need to do today, (boring)!! I was supposed to get my hair cut and coloured today, but I phoned to change my appt yesterday. I want to wait until just before we head to Ottawa to get it done. I also made an appt. to have my spa day, that my DH got me for my birthday. It is a package that includes a facial, manicure and pedicure. I will be all spruced up for my visit with the family! We will be leaving on the 29th of July and I can hardly wait! I talked with Heather and boys yesterday and Hunter is very excited for his birthday on the 9th of July!! He has had a cold for the past few days and is feeling a bit out of sorts, but we read a few stories together and he seemed to be very happy to do that. I might run out today to see if I can find a new pair of shorts and a top, or perhaps a nice little summer dress for our trip. I don't really like to go shopping anymore, its no fun when you have to go alone, but I do need some summer clothes everything I own is getting old and worn out.

@faerywings - How funny that you bolted when you almost spilled the beans to your neighbour LOL. I would do the same, get outta there before you said anything else!! That is terrible about the 4th of July shooting!! We had a bad incident here last week too! Twin boys in their 20's robbed a bank in a town not too far from us and shot 6 police officers, they were killed by police and the boys are from right here in Duncan!!! WTH?? On a happier note... Cait's ring is so beautiful and you must be so happy for the two of them!! Of course all of us have always been Team Scott!! I hope you have a lovely visit with your parents this afternoon! Yup get the kleenex box out and ready, the tears will be flowing !! OMG about the fire next to you!! What is going on? Not arson I hope!! Did the fire get put out without the whole house going up in flames?? That is frightening! Never a dull moment at your place these days!!

@tanteva - Sorry you are not heading to IKEA today! I love that place!! My husband hates it LOL. Hope you manage to get some kind of plans for your vacation time together! Hopefully the whole time will not be spent in front of the computer!! It is great however that Urban is getting started on his next book!

I will off and running this AM. I have to take the ExHD back to Best Buy to see if they will exchange it for one I can use. I decided to see how much space I have left on the 2TB HD I am using as back up right now... and nearly had a heart attack once it ran the properties for me.... it has 2.47TB on it!!!! #dk#devil#predict Needless to say, that lit a fire under me to take a close look at all the stuff I have on my 'old' computer!!! I need to off-load a bunch that I don't use and figure out how to put stuff on the hard drive so it is readily assessable. DH's (newer) computer is only a 1TB so I need to store my scrapping stuff elsewhere. I asked for help in the Scrap Chat so if you know what to do - pop over there and give me the scoop. In the meantime, I am putting some of the older scrapping stuff on DVDs and will get them off my computer.

Had to LOL when DD#3 got here yesterday... she wasn't sure which house was mine without the huge yucca in front!! She loves how open and welcoming it now looks. We had a nice long visit and had lunch. She will be seeing her doc next week but is pretty sure that she won't have any more PT visits...will just continue with her exercises they taught her. She bought a pair of sandals that have straps fit just under and support the ankle. She ended up taking 4 big bags of books home and now the office sofa is clear again. I have 2 other bags of books that I will donate to the used book store.

I will try to be back later for personals.

Good morning ladies. I plan to stick close to home today, am tired, and will just putter and maybe take the dogs to the park later. Jen is leaving for Vancouver later this morning for the week, she has appointments there and will be back on Friday. It'll seem so weird to have her and Bella gone. We watched the Stranger Things finale...so good! We loved it.

@faerywings I can just imagine your parents when they hear the news C's ring is gorgeous. You can tell Scott I am definitely Team Scott, always. He is just about the perfect son from what I hear about him.

@taxed4ever Hope you find some nice summer wear for the trip. You are going to feel and look great for your trip!

@BrightEyes Hope you are able to exchange your EHD. I'll go look at your computer thread and see what you are asking there.

I'm going to go hop in the shower and get on with my day now.

****TEAM SCOTT HERE**** BWAHAHA Poor Scott, I can just see his face. So much happening around your house, Chris @faerywings and then a fire??? Yikes - too many fires around you. Yes, we were all traumatized over that shooting!!! What a way to celebrate the fourth. They got him fast - he dressed up as a woman to make his get away.

I love that picture of Cait's ring and of course she took Anteater along. LOL I'm SO happy for them. Ava doesn't want a short engagement either (she's not engaged, BTW) but they want to get on their feet financially, too. I'm sure there will be lots of excitement around your house when everybody finds out.

I'm tired today - glad the weekend is over. They were out on that boat for hours and all got sunburned. I'm SO glad I didn't go! Yes, mashed potatoes and gravy is an odd "side" isn't it? It's one of their specialties' though. People 'round here like their taters. LOL I wouldn't have thought of them, but Roger told me that, so I said of course - cause I love mashed potatoes.

I'm going to keep my personals short. Casey is stopping by - I'm going to make her some books for the AirBNB's she's going to start managing. There are books of rules plus all the places of interest around here, grocery stores, drug stores, etc. etc. etc. Right now, they're handwritten in cheap binders, and she wants classy books. I showed her some of the books we could make, so she's about ready to roll. She's bringing me the old books and I'll just reproduce them in a nice "lay-flat" book, with hard covers.

Quick in and out again. Yes, I got the 'cloud only' ExHD exchanged but had to order the one I want. The manager when above and beyond... and made the exchange for me. Also suggested that I have the Geek squad come out to the house and walk me through what to do on both computers so I can make the shift over to DH's computer. I am a Total Tech member so it is a free service call! I will only have the tech transfer a few files from the old and make sure I can access them on DH's computer. It will take hours to transfer all the file to the new HD so won't have him do all of them. I will also download a file from the store to that computer, work with it, then have him move it to the new ExHD to make sure that works okay. Feeling much better about the whole thing now!
