Whew!! The snow missed us!! It started to snow around 3 pm, and it wasn't supposed to get here until overnight so I thought for sure we were doomed. But it stopped and started and stopped and started and then over night, it just stopped. Next storm due to arrive Friday.
(Did I ever tell you that I hate snow and cold?? bwuhahahahah!!!)

But dang!! Its is coooold! It was almost 50* on Sunday, yesterday got up to 24* and I think today is supposed to be near 19*. ick!

~59 days til spring?

I hope that I can un-scatterbrain myself today. I feel like I have been walking in circles the past week. That is another reason why I am happy for not snow b/c that would have sent my work schedule into a tailspin too. But regular work day first, and then housework here in the afternoon. I think it might be a good soup-for-dinner night too!

Tip on Tuesday
It looks really funky, but it you have any drafty windows, definitely try the plastic wrap window kits. I can't believe the difference since I wrapped my window in my office yesterday. I can hear the wind whipping but I am not feeling that cold breeze!

love and hugs!

Linda S-- 3*????? That makes my 17* sound downright balmy!!! Maui, here she comes!!!!
My BFF just booked a cruise for April and I an so jealous-- for the warm weather just as much as a vacation!!

Trudy- GMTandcookAlike! I have never used limes in a chicken- usually lemon. I am going to have to try that - bet lime and garlic and cilantro would be a yummy combo!!! I amsorry your cou;n't taste your dinner. All of that work for nothing. Use the bones for some chicken soup with fresh garlic. Italian Grandma's Medicine.

:horn: PSA!! Everyone struggling with germs-- take garlic pills!! I know, you have heard me say it a gazillions times, but I promise, it works fantastic on cold germs. I have a really sad and feeble immune system, but I *rarely* get colds/flu. As soon as I feel one coming on, I dose up big time. And if the kids have colds I take regular doses as a preventative. I promise it will help.
Just think about it, ok?

Terry- what a bummer to have to leave your ds early. :( With your DH's illness, does he have to be extra careful around germs?
Hope that you took some time off today since it is still vacation time.

Yes....I am another year wiser..............pretty soon I am going to be so damn smart you won't be able to stand all the knowledge that flows from my head
OMG this had me rolling along with ya!!!!!!
But I saw on FB that Mike has pneumonia- and I just scrolled down in the Ooo's to see. :( Ugh, so not the b-day you deserve at all! At least you flowers from Ona!!
sending good thoughts to all of you and you def. get the vodka for sure. Hang in there sweetie and take care of yourself too b/c you cannot get sick!

Nancy- main reason why I get 99.9% of my news online, so that way I can pick and choose what, when, and how much I have to deal with. Same thing with the weather/hurricane forecasters- yes, we can see it is raining and the surf is pounding-- and it will be doing the same for the next 24 hours... now get back inside, !! Its the same stuff over and over.......I miss the days of just having an hour of news at night. My kids say all of the time, "why is that even on the news? Its not news." walter Cronkite- we really miss you!
:)

Hi Laurie!!

Phyllis- good idea to wipe down the shopping cart with wipes. I really should remember it when I go tomorrow- they have a box of wipes as soon as you walk in but I always walk right past it.
What did your dh say when you told him that you weren't sure about his retirement? My dad still "busts" on my mom for "ruining" his. he retired at 65 and I guess he thought he was home free. My mom got laid off from her job and she was 62 so after a few attempts at finding a new job she took early retirement. I wasn't sure how that was going to go over and 8 years later I am still not sure LOL

Hope that the zig-zags stay away.

:eek:hwell:well. it's 9 degrees here. :smow: going up to 14. do i really want to go outside my door today??? still thinking about it....

Chris, when we first got the house we're in now, it had metal casement windows. a disaster. so right away we bought these things that i don't think are available anymore. the company installed magnetic strips around each window, then custom made these plastic windows to attach inside. it really WORKED. then we replaced the windows a few years later. but, yeah. anything is better than nothing, if your windows are leaky! it makes a difference in your heating bill, too. oh, and hubby just laughed and shrugged his shoulders re: retirement. i guess we'll see. i just wish he'd grow a HOBBY or something. i think he understands that he'd better not:
1. follow me around when he's retired
2. get under my feet. ever.
3. pretend that he doesn't have to do anything
domestic" when he's retired.
4. assume that i'm the "tour director" of his retirement.

i miss Eva. anyone know how she's doing?

hope everybody is warm and dry. enjoy Tuesday!

lOve the O!
Morning O fam- all this talk about leaky windows- our first winter in our first house before we replaced things- the tinsel on the tree was horizontal when the wind blew and we had a snow drift by one huge held together with angle iron door. That said I have not choice but to put the long johns on under my pants for the walk up the hill. I am burning up now- just finished my workout and have cup of HOT coffee!

just stopping in to say hi!

I'm reading about how cold it is everywhere----well we are going to be 75 today. It was freezing a week ago and now it is like summer! Can't believe it. But I am not complaining.

Ordered new eye glasses yesterday---hope to pick them up tomorrow morning.

I'll try and stop in later! Need to get to work. Everyone have a great day.

Good am - whew NJ is in the grips of a cold cold snap. High today only 24. But I will be at the Rock cheering my Devils on in their home opener. So excited.

Chris I hear you about news. My guess is that the stations dont want you leave their broadcast for another network and they think you wont come back to theirs LOL

Phylis I totally get how you are feeling. I watched my both my Mom and my aunt when their husbands retired and how they did following them every where. My DH fortunately has his own hobbies so it should not be too bad but he still has several years before he will retire.

Ladies please feel better!

Have a great day!

Hi ladies....

Mike is still resting in bed this morning....hopefully his abx are kicking in...he was coughing his brains out when he went to bed...he is sleeping downstairs right now, he didn't want to bother me the last two nights.

I am going pump him up with his steroids today....that should get him feeling good!!

uuuhhhmm....PHYLIS....................yeah....I am just laughing out loud right now
1. follow me around when he's retired
2. get under my feet. ever.
3. pretend that he doesn't have to do anything

4. assume that i'm the "tour director" of his retirement.

He might understand...but after a year of mine being home with me....those rules are right out the window....now Mike does have his hunting...and from Sept to mid December, I didn't see him much...and he does go play on his land at least one day a week most weeks...but all the other days he is here....uuuggghhh.....#'s 3 and 4 are the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

17 degrees when I got up this morning....COLD!! COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brrrrr!!! and a high of 26....

but I get hungry and go in my castle for a snack

Morning all... Well yesterday felt like we were living in a horror movie or something! The heavy fog never lifted all day long and was thick like pea soup all day long! Yet 20 miles away it was a beautiful sunny day. Supposed to be more of the same for today. :mmph: I want to see the sunshine!! No wonder I am vitamin D deficient. So Chris I really was running around in a fog all day long too :dizzy:

Chris - Your combo of spices and limes sound really good! I will have to try that next time. The reason I used limes was because I didn't have any lemons LOL, it sure makes the chicken nice and juicy and tender!! I don't know why I don't roast chicken more often it is so easy!

Phylis - I have the same set of rules for my MG if he decides to totally retire, thank goodness he got this new job with the municipality or he would drive me nuts!! I love the man, but I know all he would do is to follow me around or sit in front of the tv all day long and that just infuriates me!! Mine needs to grow a hobby too!! LOL

Laurie - I love your comment about the tinsel!! Thanks for the chuckle! Our first house was built so bad that when our son played with his cars they rolled all the way from the bedroom to the living room all on their own.

Terry - Lucky you! Warm temps like summer, I say we all pack up and come for a visit!! :becky:

Nana Linda - Sure hope your man is doing better today! He owes you big time for spoiling your birthday! Definitely not a great way to spend your special day, hope you get to have a birthday dinner with your Mom and Dad and what a great surprise you got from Ona! Too bad she didn't send the bottle with it though! Sending you loving hugs for your birthday my friend, wish we all could have celebrated with you and spoiled you !

Well just a short shift at work today, then I get to come home and be here at the "O" again!! Hopefully I get out of my scrapping block and get a layout created today! Have a fabulous day girls!!
