Happy Valentine's Day, my lOvelies!
As you probably guessed, I don't celebrate Valentine's Day now that the kids aren't kids. (*sob*) and to buy anything for Gary is just spending money that we don't have. He knows that I love him no matter what day it is
(even the days that he drives me crazy ha!!!!).

It is a good thing too, I am not in any sort of mood to be nice to anyone. Seriously. :p I woke up cranky and am still feeling cranky even after coffee.

Yesterday was another one of Those Days. It took me a half hour to scrape the ice off of the car so I could go food shopping. The wind was brutal and I literally felt like I was being blown away as I was walking through the parking lot. I went to put the bags in the trunk and the door was frozen shut and I had to put the bags into the bag seat which was fun b/c the SUV next to me parked so close that I couldn't open the door all the way. The amusing part of the trip was all of the men in Shop Rite either huddled in front of the greeting cards or at the florist dept. So many men! :pound:

I moved the china cabinet back without breaking anything so that was a huge plus. Then housework that no one else seems capable of doing- 2 loads of laundry, dishes/dishwasher. Then I needed to make a V-Day card for my godson. I scrapped an adorable card of the two of us hugging. I went to print it and there were lines through it. Checked the ink levels, cleaned the nozzles, and the second printing came out even worse. Went through it again, put in 3 new ink cartridges and it still looks terrible. So now my laser printer tray is broken and this color one too?

After that, I was so discouraged that I pushed everything aside and went upstairs to hang with the kids. They were playing pool (did I tell you that Scott and Gary used some of their Christmas money to get a tiny pool table? It is one of those 2'x3' whateverthedimensionsare that fold up when you need to put it away) so I joined in. There is a 3-player game, and Cait and I each had a rat on our shoulders, and all of us were laughing so hard. Cait is pretty good, I stink! Clover likes to burrow and she was crawling under my sweatshirt sleeve, down my arm. Of course, being allergic to them made my arm itch and swell. Like that is going to stop me from holding them. hehe.

My mom is coming up today so she can see the kids for Valentine's Day and she is bringing dinner for the three of us. Poor Scott has to work tonight. Hopefully, I can get the printer inks to work better so I can send the card home with my mom.

Goal Number 1 for Today: Don't bite anyone's head off if (when) the aggravate the s*** out of me!

Have a super day!

OMG, after rereading my post up there, HTH do you put up with me?? I am a completely boring cranky-pants!

Nancy- that is a bummer that the Devils lost to the Sharks, but it sounds like you had a lot of fun anyway. That is wonderful about the dogs and how well they are doing.

Trudy- The only spot of grass that I can see is right over our septic tank. LOL I really shouldn't complain about winter since the only real accumulation that we have had is the last two storms.
Mark the day in history that your ILs asked for help! ;)
That is really neat about all of the postcards. I don't know how much the Ancestry subscription is, but maybe for her next birthday, you guys can get her something like that?
Glad to hear that your are finally feeling better but don't push it at the pool, we don't want you to drown.

Sharon- it was 17* here not accounting wind chill last night. Feel free to create your own jet stream and send some of that heat to me :)
That sounds like a really nice weekend aside from needing a pain pill. When is your vacation booked for?

Rae- eep! That keto-flu sounds pretty horrible, but like you said, at least you knew what to expect and that you would feel a lot better once you got through it. I am not bored with hearing about your diet and I am proud of you for being so determined.
Whenever you need someone to cheer you on, you know that we will do that for you. :cheer2:

Thank you all for reminding me that life doesn't need adventures every day to be considered "not boring."

Jean- great advice for Trudy!

xoxo!!

Chris- you are so funny!
Rae-I have had the keto-flu before and its no fun, but you feel much better when you get into ketosis.

DD and I went thrift shopping for things for her parade. She is required to decorate 20 purses for her float.

Today is errand running. i have an accupuncture appt., then thrift shopping, and I need to go to the mall to get an ear ring. I lost one of my set from Christmas. Boo hoo.

Morning O-zies!! It feels like a Monday to me, DH was hovering all day yesterday and would plunk himself down on the couch every once in a while. I kept saying are you B.O.R.E.D.??? What are you going to do when you retire?? OMG he is going to drive me nuts!! Thankfully it was a nice sunny day yesterday so he got outside and puttered around the yard and shovelled some snow etc. Then he had patched up the holes where my old toppers used to be on the kitchen windows and got the patches painted over. They look awesome! Really I honestly don't know what I will do with him when he does retire! I told him he could work into his 80's that was fine with me LOL. He has no interest in any kind of a hobby, he won't take up golfing (even though he is really good at it) He can't hike with me anymore because he has no cartilage in his knee, I guess I should take him out back and shoot him??? :becky:

Chris - What a great idea for MIL's birthday!! She would love it, but then one of us would have to spend a lot of time showing her just how it works. Hmmmm I would bet it would have to be me??? LOL Oh well still a great gift suggestion! I will have to talk to the sisters to see if they want to go in on it as well as perhaps a DNA test for ancestry too? I hope that your mood improves today! My day started off by the coffee (tasimo) machine clogging up and coffee spilling out all over the countertop grrrrr!!! Not the way to start the day for sure! Sure hope you get the printer up and running again, dam things are a PITA!! I need to go to the store and get yet another ink cartridge for mine also. Never ends!! I am in a bit of a mood too can you tell LOL.

Sharon - Yikes! 20 purses?? Hope you manage to get them all done! What kind of a parade is it? Sorry to hear you lost an earring and a Christmas gift to boot. Hope you can find a replacement for it!

Jean - Thanks for the great advice! I was telling MIL that you would be the lady to talk to about it and you beat me to the punch! I wish you lived closer, my MIL would love to have a chat with you!

Nancy - I hope you and Luther are enjoying a lovely morning!

Rae - Ugh on the Keto flu, I am going to spend some time today looking into this diet as I think it might be something that is a good thing for me also. I just keep procrastinating about it. LOL

I need to finish cleaning up my coffee maker and looking forward to having a FaceTime with Heather and Mason today! She went for her 20 week ultrasound on Friday so I am anxious to hear how it all went. Mason is determined that this baby will be a boy and he already has named him Roar Mason. What a funny kid!! :pound: Have a great Monday everyone!

Good morning, ladies. I'm getting off the computer for the morning soon and will work at super speed to get my desk job caught up today. Both cients sent lots of work over the wkend which is good for my bank acct but means I can't scrap or slack off today b/c I'm loaded right up. No matter what though, I will stop later this afternoon to visit with a friend who is coming over so I can talk to her about the basics of digi scrapping. She is ready to learn. Then hubs hopefully will stay awake long enough to eat a big steak and caesar salad I'm making for dinner. We gave each other VDay cards this morning and he spelled my name wrong LOL. That's how tired he is after working 9 days in a row and being gone from early morning til evening (about 10 hrs) these last 4 days. Poor guy. I just laughed and showed him the card and he looked pretty embarrassed LOL.

Chris - the mini pool game sounds fun. Hope you have a nice dinner that your mom brings. It's ok to be cranky, it happens to all of us. Try to have a few minutes of zen time (it means....stop trying to do a million things and just relax for a few minutes and think peaceful thoughts and practice slow deep breathing). I have to do it every now and then when my brain gets amped up and I start feeling cranky. Its amazing how well it works (like a short meditation).

Trudy - the keto diet is not for the faint of heart, it's not easy to give up most carbs but for me, anyway, its actually been surprisingly easy as my craving has disappeared. I measured my ketones this morning and I am in full blown ketosis now so no more keto flu, I feel great, I already have more energy, have dropped 5 lbs over the wkend and lost all my tummy bloat. My mind is still trying to wrap itself around the idea of lots more fat in my diet but I'm getting better at meeting my daily quota now. I chart everything at myfitnesspal where you can set up your stats for keto dieting (and its free). Now I just need to cancel the WW acct since I don't need it. I laughed abour your hubs (I think him and Darrell are twins, pretty much everything you say about him applies to mine and how you react is about the same as me LOL). I can't wait to meet you in a few months. We are going to have so much fun chatting together.

Sharon - wow...that's a lot of purses to decorate. So you've done a low carb diet too? I tried LC a few yrs ago but never applied myself like I have now and didn't really understand the science behind it and didn't eat enough fat so that is why I think I fell off the wagon. Hopefully this time I can make it work and sustain it b/c it sure makes me feel better.

Nancy - hope you are enjoying your day, no doggy taxi service today, right? Don't know if there is a game today or not but if so, enjoy.

Ok, ladies, it's after 9:00 and I better get to work. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Rae- I did Atkins years back. I thought I was macho (well I was 16 years younger!) and weaned off the cargs too quickly and within 2 weeks, on a Friday afternoon at work, I suddenly got light headed and sick to my stomach. Didn't know what it was until I talked to my hubby. It was not a good feeling.

I forgot, my vacation is July 22-29, 2015 to Grenada. I will post in forum as well.

Trudy, this is Mardi Gras in New Orleans. My daughter rides in one parade and their signature throw is purses. My DH and I ride in another and the signature throws are decorated toilet bowl brushes, small toilets, plungers and toilet paper! lol it is a fun parade. The first float is a giant toilet and the king sits on the toilet. lol

Good afternoon! My day started with a delightful program at the senior center called a Mad Hatter Tea Party. The lady who heads the fashion department at a local college brought a study collection of hats and gave a talk about herself and the history of hats. It was very nice and the hats got passed around to see and touch. Then we got to put them on and take pictures. There were maybe 15 of us so is was interesting to see what we went for in the hats. Then the tea party to which we brought sweets (so I'm still on a sugar high I think!) I brought a couple treats home for DH so he wouldn't feel left out.

You know I live and breath genealogy. Well, the family includes some milliners and I have a special project on an early Cleveland milliner and her family. So I care about the history of hat making! It was so much fun too!

Chris, hope the cranky pants went away with the day, but you know you can bring them here any time. Good luck with the printer!!

Sharon, after a morning with hats, the purse project sounds like a lot of fun. Hope it turns out that way.

Trudy, hope the genealogy tip works out for MIL. You can always send me questions if she has them (and is still up for asking for help?) As to retired men in the house, it can be a big adjustment for sure. We've muddled along for a long time now as we both took early retirements. For me it meant falling into genealogy. DH has a harder time but definitely has things to do and he's our main grocery shopper now. Keep him working as long as he likes doing it!

Rae, sounds like things are super busy as usual. Congrats on the progress with the keto diet. At least DH remembered your name even if he couldn't spell it. Granted it's a joke, but sometimes mine refers to me as old what's her name. (But then I refer to him, in his presence, as "this one.")

Nancy, hope it's a great day for you and that the Devils win tonight!

Happy Valentine's to all.
