Snow day! It isn't doing anything here yet, but the town schools are closed and so is the kids' college. I am happy about that. I didn't want them traveling on the roads if it is going to get as icy as they are saying. And as for what the meteorologists are saying? :noidea: It could be 5-7" of snow or 1-3" with sleet and ice on top of that. It could also be anywhere in between.
I have nowhere to go and neither does the rest of the family so we are all snug as a bug in a rug, as my mom says all of the time.

I am happy that I went food shopping yesterday and it wasn't all that bad. I got there early enough I think because the people in the parking lot were getting cranky when I was leaving. I saved a lot of money somehow. I saved $77 and paid $90-something. That was pretty impressive since I didn't have my usual couple of hours of prep and searching for online coupons.
I made it to the library and was able to find 4 books, thanks to GoodReads and Rae. I started Lie to Me last night. Thanks for the rec! I also got the latest one by Janet Evanovich/Lee Goldberg in the Fox and O'Hare series. That is one that I can bring to PA and read in a day in front of the fireplace.
Silly, thin plotline, easy to follow even with distractions, such as my mom chattering away and me with a glass of wine in hand. :fireplace:

I still dislike my library. We finally had a new, bigger one built a year or so ago but it still has the same number of books. All of the books that Kay says that Kay Hooper writes-- there were *two* on the shelf. Same thing with most of the other authors on my list. I will have to start putting holds on the ones old enough to do that for. I might be able to get the new Nora Roberts one soon- I think Holds have to be on books released over 3 months prior. Also a silly rule if you ask me.

So that is it from me. I am probably going to sit here, wasting loads of time today. :D
Hope you are all more productive than me. xoxo

Nancy- hope that you were able to get in for your appointment today without any problems. From my window, it looks like you would be fine, so my fingers are crossed that it was the same for you.
Don't you hate when you love a show so much that you don't want it to end?
I would love to read that much but I would feel guilty as well. The only comfy, quiet place to read in my house is my bed and that makes me feel horribly lazy. Maybe if I had time alone in the house I wouldn't feel bad, but that almost never happens LOL

Kay- have a great time at your luncheon today. That is very smart of you to hold back on heavy-duty cleaning. I wish I had your resolve. I tend to be pretty darn stubborn. No one is going to notice if there is a speck of dust-- or even care. But you sound like me- if you notice, that is enough to make you crazy

One small part of the rats and the melon story I didn't share but it too cute to keep to myself-
Titania and Olivia were in Cait's hood and Olivia was still eating her melon and Titania had finished hers. Titania grabs Olivia's face with both hands and snags the melon right out of her mouth. While Olivia was eating it! It was so funny and was one of the many moments I have that I wish my eyes were cameras.

Dogs need to go out-- BRB!
Hoooo boy, it is cold and raw out there. But not a single flake in the sky. Naturally, I don't want snow, but if it doesn't do anything major then everyone is going to be up in arms. Why did you close the schools, why did you brine the roads, why did you call a state of emergency?? Of course, if those things weren't done and it did snow, everyone would be up in arms that you didn't. I swear, we live in a state of non-stop complaints. ( Not me. Never. :tape:)

Trudy- Ugh about losing your post but awesome that you got to scrap a page. Oh wow, that is a lot of snow-- how much did you end up getting? Yes, good to stay busy inside and warm but make sure that you have time at the end of the day to relax!
How sweet that Sadie wants your painting- perfect girlie colors- see, it worked out well!!! Yay!
I love reading books that take place in areas close to me or where I am familiar with too. Enjoy the book.

felis- what a great deal on all of those sweets! That is too bad that you weren't able to go with them but at least they brought you back goodies.

Rae- that photo sums up Taz totally! What a good boy!! And you are such a fab photographer to get that shot in the cold. Wow!!!
Hope that you were able to stay warm once you were both inside and defrosted. :D

Love to all of you!

Morning ladies... well we are buried in about 2 feet of snow here and it is still coming down.
snowing-smiley.gif
DH and I spent another hour or so on the driveway last night after dinner. He was out there shoveling again this morning before heading off to work.

He just phoned me to let me know that he made it safely to his job (glad he did that!) However he said that the snow plows had not yet been out. WTH?? Good thing our CRV is so good in the snow! The snow is supposed to taper off today and the temps are getting warmer. Soon we will have rain and then we will have to deal with a piles of wet slush and flooding :gaah: Mother Nature is not happy with us!! I have to say that the trees look so beautiful with all of this snow piled on the branches, it makes for lovely scenery! Today I will put the first coat of white paint on the bottom staircase spindles. I got the primer all done yesterday and I am afraid that other than shoveling the driveway a few times yesterday, not much else got done. I really want to do a page today and I need a break from staining/painting! My shoulder is killing me and I have a huge knot that needs some relief! So no swimming for me today and most likely no hike tomorrow. I can't imagine anyone would be able to get to the trailheads anyway.

Chris - You have no snow yet and still they cancelled school? Oh well guess its better to be safe than sorry! It is good to have the kids home and snug as a bug! You won't have to stress about anyone driving or being stuck somewhere Whew!! Nice that you got your grocery shopping done early and even saved a bunch of $$!! The shopping gods were with you! You have a few good books to read, sounds like you are set for the day! Yes it will be a good day to just sit around and waste time LOL. I hope to do the same! Love your story about the cute little rats!! Thanks for sharing!

Nancy - Sure hope you make it to your appt. with no troubles!

Felis - How nice that your family brought back those goodies for you! :hungry: I love chocolate too! Hope that you will be able to have some free time soon to do other things besides working!

Rae - I just adore that photo of your sweet Taz! Like I said "One Happy Dog"!! You are an amazing photographer!! I hope that you are not getting as much snow as we are! For some strange reason we seem to be getting way more than many other places on the Island. It's fun to see the kids home from school, out on our hill having a fun snow day tobogganing and building snowmen! Makes me smile and brings back so many great memories of being a kid! Hope you get through your tons of work and get to be out for another great walk in the snow with your buddy!

Well better get my bed made and empty the dishwasher, then I will spend some time with Photoshop and get going on a page this morning. Painting will have wait. Have a lovely day everyone!

:rapture: And just like that Winter is back. Wind is so cold that I can feel it with my bones. In some town have damages, but fortunately here not. Poor flowers that was start to wake up. And I was thought about Chris and her wondering why dogs have to go out all the time, grateful that I have fence. It's even fun to watch through the window how Biggie play at the yard and wind waving all his fur in every direction. As a huge cotton candy. How is possible someone to be so happy at the cold?! Unfortunately it's not the same with my homeless friends. We bring them some leftovers, but found only Elvis and he wasn't much happier, the other dogs are hide at bushes, and only hunger was bring him outside.

Trudy, I have to start with apologies, I'm not update the page yesterday and missed moment when you are posted! Wow, it's so pretty with this snow I'm jealous! Definitely not good for hike, but it's so pretty for short walks. Sorry for your shoulder, maybe try arnica cream!? I saw one book of Chevy Stevens is been translated here so I have to search for it on a next book sale. Have fun with scraping, I work on one page too, but not sure when will be able to finish it. And I'm not comment in the gallery from ages :( .

Rae, this photo of Taz is sooo wonderful! Why you live so far away, I want so much to takes a short photo session of my kiddos.

Chris, stay warm and it's sounds as a fun family day inside.

Waving to all other girls! :cof3:

Good morning, ladies. It's warmed up today, just hovering around freezing. We're not getting as much snow as Trudy but still quite a bit. I got out again to shovel (3rd time...ugh). Taz loved it, of course. I took a few breaks from shovelling and took some photos of the snow. Then Bruin across the street came out to play with Taz so I wasn't able to get great shots b/c I had my macro lens on the camera but did get a few fun pics of them playing. Today will be the last big dump of snow and then the temps warm up a bit and the wet weather will start which will make everything so slushy. D is doing ok, he has snow tires on his van so isn't having any trouble getting around. Now sure how much we got in total but I'd say about 8-10". Yesterday the guys were setting up at the river for filming and when I took Taz out for his dinnertime walk I chatted for awhile with them. They aren't supposed to say what they are filming but the one guy said if I watch Magicians, Siren or Riverdale....I'd recognize our bridge and river. It was very cool to have him explain what some of the equipment was for and how they create a colored misty backdrop. Taz wasn't impressed. They were invading his space LOL. He did let the guys give him snuggles and rubs though so he wasn't too upset :)

Here's a shot of Bruin (Taz's best friend across the street). He's the one I babysat for about 4 wks when he came home at 8 wks old and his dad had to go to work everyday. It bonded him and Taz for life. They are besties.

Chris - hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. I put the newest J. Evanovich book on hold and can't wait...love that series, it's so much fun to read. I'm reading another good one now, a light read, but fun, "When Life Gives You Lululemons" (author of The Devil Wears Prada).

Trudy - I think you got quite a bit more snow than we did but we still got tons. I'm sick of shoveling and am ready for warmer weather now. Hopefully this is the worst day and it'll start to melt away. Stay warm inside and enjoy the view out your window today.

Felis - I too wish we lived closer to each other. Wouldn't it be fun to have a pet photography day with you!

I'm getting another coffee and getting to work now. Have a great day everyone!
