It is here!! The 12 Days Oscraps party has begun.
I am seeing so many festive avatars. (Sadly, by the time I associate who's meme belongs to who, it will be time to revert back, it gets me every year!)

Things are still pulling together slowly with a few "blips" on the way. One of the bigger blips is a big ol' mess in my supply closet. I was pulling out the ingredients that I would need to make my coffee butter scrub when I saw that one of the bottles of carrier oil was leaking. All of the bottles had to be washed off and the shelf is covered with oily gunk. Even after scraping and scrubbing it all down, my room still smells like grapeseed oil. It could be worse. LOL
A similar thing happened in my kitchen cabinet. As I was pulling out the baking supplies, the molasses bottle was all sticky. The cabinet is a floor corner cabinet and I have to climb halfway inside to reach the back. It was a dang workout just trying to get in and out of it.
But at least I am getting things moving forward. I also found a super cute stuff squid pattern on the crochet site that I am now making for my niece's holiday basket. All of that yarm my mom's neighbor sent over is going to good use. There was a skein of blue and green variegated yarn and it is making up an adorable squid so far. I have the head and 4 tentacles done. I also got two skeins of super-bulky wool and am making another scarf with it, not sure which of the guys will wear a scarf, but it is a more masculine pattern. I will toss it into a basket and they can figure it out from there.

Today is food shopping pick-up and when the kids are ready, we will decorate for Christmas. On top of all of that, the party is here! I hope that Buddy is going to be able to come down and not worry about quarantining!

Have a fantastic day!

Kay- I was watching the full moon while we were eating dinner the night before, it sure was something! Sorry that it woke you up but worth it to see it so bright.
I bet your house looks wonderful and cheery. It sounds like every decoration you put up is filled with years of love and family. My brother is taking my dad out to get a small tree later this week, they still want a tree but it is going to be tiny. As I said before, this is the first time since I was a baby - maybe earlier?- that no one will be at their house on Christmas Eve. It will make next year so much more special. (Please, make it so)
Sounds like your family is holding up well. Bet there are very grateful for the rain. We had t-storms for hours and hours last night. It rained all day (yup, the basement is filled with water ugh) but the lightning was non-stop after dinner.
Whew!! what a relief that D-GS didn't have COVID. How is your sister doing, any better?
Stay warm and cozy today too.

Nancy- did you get the storms and tornado warnings? The tornado warnings stayed well south of us but man, the rain was brutal.
Excellent shopping finds! Awww, your tree must make the whole house smell good. I can't wait. It has to be amazing to be able to ride your bike without your knees hurting. Good for you!!!
Whenever we watch Outlander, it takes me an episode or so for my ear to "hear" the words better. Is the BBC Sherlock on Netflix?

Trudy- how was your quiet day? Thatis really cute that he is so happy with his snowblower! Even nicer that you can use it too instead of having to go out and shovel while he is at work.
The store had a sale on baking chips so I stocked up on those since they were only $1 a bag. Next week I will make sure that I have enough sugar and flour too. The cookies will be in everyone's baskets too. I hope that you are able to see your ILs for Christmas, even if it a short visit outside.

Cheryl- glad that you are feeling better. I am still mad at that pie for doing that to you LOL
I am laughing at Daisy being all tuckered out but wondering where the people went. She is so cute.
I love bats too. We had a baby bat get stuck in the curtains in the house years ago. We were able to put him outside, we named him Vlad but we were worried that his wing was injured. The four of us were on the patio watching and cheered when he was able to fly away. He was so darn cute.
I really hope that the work on the house gets rolling.
GP's are beautiful dogs and I bet his owner was thrilled to find his pic on FB.

Rae- oh no, your back was doing so well, sorry that it got aggravated. I hope that you were able to lie down a lot and get it less twingy. Absentia-- is that about the woman who is an FBI and has amnesia? I think we started that but darned if I can remember.

Felis- good to see you back!! Thank you for following my Very Official Rule of not being allowed to leave. HEY! I didn't say you were crazy!!! :pound: You make me laugh and I am so happy happy happy that you are here.
ok - NOW I think you are crazy, you like the snow. Yuck!!!!! :p I hope that it keeps you in the holiday spirit. My advice on the Project 25: don't do it!!!!!! No need to tempt fate. :nono:
I will try to take some pics of my crochet work.

HAGD!!

Welcome to December... so many fun challenges and games are going to be happening during the 12 Days of Christmas. I am off and running with Day 1 - Lyrics Challenge. Hope everyone remembers to do the Daily Download of the new HOPE collaboration. This should lift our spirits and give us something to look forward to each day.

Another cold day... only 27* right now. Couple of cold fronts coming in between now and Thursday. Definitely "bundle up time" here. I am so glad that I managed to get to the grocery store yesterday. Got there before 9AM and less than 75 customers [that is the limit in stores right now]. Nice to have red and black grapes, oranges, and potatoes plus my liquid creamer and favorite ice cream at bargain prices! Got home only to realize that I forgot to get celery, bell peppers, and cucumbers. Wasn't thinking about salad makings while I was shopping. Also got gas in the car ... it was down to less than a quarter of a tank. Not surprised as it has been almost 2 months since I put gas in it.

Oh, Chris... what messes you had to deal with. Ugh... sorry you had to dig into a hard to reach cabinet area to clean that up. Hope you have most of what you need to make the cookies and other goodies. Glad you are getting to use up the yarn for some of the Christmas gifts. I should be working with some of the yarn I have stashed away.

Yes, the 3' gold pinecone tree is a family keepsake. My aunt bought it after her hubby passed on; after aunt Mary was gone, I took it to Mom. She was in assisted living and it was her Christmas decoration for 7 years. Now I have it and it is perfect for my Christmas tree instead of moving furniture around to put up a big tree. Will see about either posting photos of my decorations or doing a LO with them.

Woke up to the spotlight shining on the bedroom door again this AM... wow... the full moon was bright again. I took a few photos of it yesterday morning - now to find a kit so I can make a LO with them.

Nancy, I saw that the eastern seaboard was under the possibility of tornados yesterday... Sure is late in the year for them to happen. But then again, this has been a crazy weather wise year. Glad you were able to ride your stationary bike without knees hurting. Keep it up and you will be ready for riding your reg bike outside in the spring.

Trudy, had to LOL over your DH getting so excited over the snow blower bargain. Nice that he could pass the bonus on as a gift. Won't wish that you have a lot of snow... but enough that he feels like it a needed purchase.

Rae, so sorry your back is acting up again. Seems like it is 3 steps forward and 2 back when dealing with a bad back. <<< hugs >>>

Cheryl, hope the guys are finished hunting and back to working on your house. Yes, it is nice to have company but is so nice to go back to peace and quiet once they are gone.

Felis, welcome back... I see you popping in for a challenge or 2.

Hope that December will be a much better month than November for everyone.

Good morning - the sun is out so I am happy. My DH is at the grocery store so that makes me even happier. Rode my bike again this am and it made me happiest as the knees did not hurt from yesterday and did not hurt today. But it is my wrists that hurt as perhaps I need my handle bars raised. Made an awesome dinner last night so that was fun. I have watched season 2 of Virgin River and now I am watching again to pick up the music they use behind the scenes. They have a song called San Luis. It cracks me up as San Luis is the city in Mexico across from Yuma. We used to go there in high school so we could drink. Went there in high school with Spanish class so we could practice our Spanish. Never thought there would be a song with that title.

Chris have fun today with decoration. Sorry about the messes the bottles created. That is the pits. And yes we had the thunderstorms and rain. Luther came into the kitchen and lay with me while I was cooking as that was when the storms went through. No tornado warnings by us but we had plenty of wind. And yes Sherlock is on Netflix.

Kay I love it when the moon shines into my bedroom window. And it sure is bright. I am looking forward to getting all my Santas out this year. Will be so different this year.

Trudy this Christmas is going to be so different and as Chris said that will make next year so special. Hope you get to see the ILs even from a distance. I am missing hockey. I keep seeing that they are going to make a division of just Canadian teams so there will no crossing of the border until play-offs.

Rae on no take it easy with the back. My DH went through that years ago and he has to keep up exercises so that he has it strengthened.

Cheryl I think bats are so cool. Cant wait to hear updates on new construction.

Felis wow snow already. I think we should have seen some but our temps are so high we are setting records. Not that I want to be cold but I love the look of snow. I am doing a project 25 LOL. I am an optimist so I think it will be fun and not tempting fate at all.

Have a great day!

Morning ladies! Yup it is December and what a great way to kick off the month! I just love the Oscraps 12 days of Christmas! It's so much fun! Lots of great games and challenges coming our way Hooray!! Just waiting on a face time call from Heather and Hunter this morning and then I will be swimming later on. Just hope to spend lots of time here today along with getting the rest of the birthdays etc added tot he calendar and getting them sent off to the printers. I have a few more gifts to wrap and then I need to get the those off in the mail. Sheesh I thought I was more organized than this but I was looking at my wrapping paper stash and realize that I might not have enough :mmph: I really do not want to go to the store to buy more. Yesterday was spent getting a bunch of envelopes made for the Christmas Cards and now I think I need to make a few more as MIL is wondering if I have any she can get from me. So I will be busy doing that and working on my layouts for the challenges here. So much to do and so little time LOL Ya right!!

Chris - Ya DH is like a little kid with a new toy LOL. That's ok I am happy that he is happy! He has spent the last couple of evenings ripping out the old carpet on the stairs, now I am excited that the new carpet will get installed tomorrow!! sorry you had to spend your day cleaning up spills! Yuck! even worse when it is in a place that is so hard to get to! Great score on the baking chips!! Your baskets will be filled with wonderful goodies! How fun to find the great pattern for a crochet squid, it sounds so cute!! Hope you have a good time with the first day of the 12 Days of Christmas!!

Nancy - How wonderful to be able to ride your indoor bike again! Your knees are doing amazing!! Yes my DH is missing hockey too, probably a good idea for them to just play here in Canada although our numbers are not great here either anymore.

Kay - Brrr!! So chilly for you, we are heading into some cooler temps now too, lots of fog around the lake, but I do see that great big full moon is still out and I can see it from my kitchen window. So pretty!

Rae - Oh noo I hope that your back is doing better today! Sometimes it takes just that little bit of a wrong turn to tweek it again right! Hope you get to do lots of scrapping over the next 12 Days!!

Cheryl - Wow busy household for you! Bet you are glad when the revolving door stops! But then it might seem too quiet!

Felis - Hooray you are back and I just adore that AVI!!! So cute and funny! Well I guess I will have to choose another name for the donkey if I ever get my act together and get one made for my nativity LOL. Hope you have some fun with the party here at the O!

Ok I better get things done before Heather calls! Have a wonderful Day 1 here at the O everyone!!

Good morning everyone!
Just stopping by to say hi!:yo:
Looking forward to participating in my first 12 Days of December with all of you!

Chris, I am a knitter, mostly, but I like crocheting because I can get the project done quicker! I'm not a very patient person and I get bored with a project quickly if it takes too long! I'm working on a lap throw right now in a knit pattern. So far so good! The pattern is too challenging to get bored with! I've got to watch my p's and q's with this one! I'm sure pictures of it will turn up in a layout somewhere along the way this month!

Have a great day, everyone!

Just a quick hello. The dentist office just called and they had a cancellation so I get to go in an hour to get my teeth cleaned. I missed my appt last wk when my car wouldn't start. So I need to get to work for a bit before I go.

It'll be fun to play along with the 12 DOD here.

Thx everyone for the well wishes for my back. It is feeling better today. I know now to slow down for a day or two when I tweak it.

Chris - yes, that is the show. We're almost done season one and really like it. I've been PVRing season two.

Have a great day and enjoy the 12 DOD here!

Good morning all! I'm loving looking at everybody's greetings! Ohhhhh, the bats. LOL Vlad is a perfect name, Chris. I'm definitely going to name it/them.

Oh girls - the kids came running in last night and were all wet. They rescued a doe from a piece of fencing and got all muddy and wet in the process. Ava needed dry clothes so I gave her a warm pair of pants and a big hooded sweatshirt. Those two! We never know what's going to happen next around here. I didn't have anything for Braden - he's 6'3". LOL

Yes, Chris - that GP was gorgeous - dogs, deer, turkeys, coyotes, oh my! We do hear coyotes almost every night - it's pretty cool.

They're banging away on the house today - we can hear them all the way down here. Hopefully, I'll have something to show you all soon.

Chris, good for you for crocheting up a storm. I forgot to congratulate you, yesterday, on learning how to make that circle. When I learned to crochet, I was fortunate to have my mom and my grandma to help me. They were crazy crocheters. Grandma always had something close by - "busy work" they used to call it. I've even heard them say "idle hands are the devil's workshop". Yes, they really said that! Ahhhhhhh, memories.

Those scrubs make excellent gifts - I might steal that idea. I was trying to come up with things to give everybody for Christmas. I think I'm going to make that hot chocolate mix this year and put it in Ball Jars. They make such cute gifts. I'm just so scattered - don't know where anything is, that I'll have to even order new jars. I have so many of them, but if I find them, then I'll have to find the lids. I use Ball Jars to store everything, but I'm not good at keeping track of the tops.

Kay, what a cold day! It is 50 here right now! It gets cold at night, but isn't too bad most days. Today is a beautiful day and I'll take a long walk with Daisy. I'll bet your house looks beautiful all decorated!

Nancy, my DH goes to the grocery, too. I love that! Hope your wrists get to feeling better from your bike ride. Glad that's all that hurts.

Trudy, I know how excited you must be to get your new carpet. Yes, we've been super busy here, and now it's so quiet.

Vicky and Rae - hope you both have a good day and hope everybody else does too.

Welcome to December? :smow: Here's a view from our front door:

It rained all day yesterday, holding around 41* then got colder after dark and started on this white stuff staying around freezing so it is wet and heavy. The bushes are not happy and some folks have lost power. My computer genealogy group board met this morning and we were so glad it was via Zoom and no one was driving in this stuff, maybe 6" then.

Felis, so happy to see your fun avi back again!! Glad you like the white stuff.

Chris, I had trouble imagining, so had to look at squid crochet patterns and they are super. That will be a delightful addition to all your other goodies. Have fun decorating with the kids.

Cold hugs and have fun with DoD!

Hello Girls!
Are you feels like an adult? When one woman start to feel mature? I don't! I'm thinking for myself as a teenage and often act like that. I know, I know, this is called infantile. I think I was more responsible at my 17th, than I'm in my 34. Back then I was so passionate about so many things, was enthusiast and optimist. Now I'm so tired, so I need care free life. Usually I'll sweep problems under the carpet, and when the stack become tooooo big and I start to stumble into it I just turn it into a treads. Unfortunately staircase build at this way can to lead only downwards.
Usually I wouldn't spend the first day of any month doing this, and especially unpleasant for this festive month, but I was busy whole day to circling around bank counters in try to resolve a problem. Because my precious government used the 'staircase' I ignored successfully whole year to push me upside down. Yes it was painful, dealing with bank is always painful, and it was just a little part of the whole procedure that I'll have to going thru. But I acted as an adult, yayyy for me! Now I can cross this from my task list for this week an to turn on on the festive wave.

Chris, you are have busy crafting day, as a real fairy! I hope your nieces to like the scarfs! I don't see why they can not to love it, it's very british and stylish in my opinion, but who know for US.
I really really love the snow, even in days like today when I had to walk on icy roads, it's worth it for the charm of clear world!

Kay, I can't shop without list! Hope you'll figure out how to deal without these products, it's so frustrating to have shopping in two days in a row.
Oh, yes I'll scrap very soon. I received some kits which I'm promised to show.

Nancy, I'm absolutely not surprised that you have indoor bike, and doing so well with it. But It took me time to accept that these things aren't eccentric clothes hanger.
lol Even in normal year my habits are too boring to allows me to make 25 pages. As you saw above, the only things that happened to me today was to go to the bank (twice :mmph: ). Actually when I was chill at the evening its came to my mind that I could get some snow photos of the town. Architecture is not typical for other EU cities and can be interesting for Day 1. But I hate so much to walk with mask at the cold, my glasses get really fogy and I has to stay concentrated only where I'm stepping.

Trudy, please do it! I'll be thrilled to be godmother to the wooden donkey Feliz! But I can see why you're not enthusiastic for new decoration this year when kids will not be around. Maybe next!
Thank you for the compliment about my festive avi, I stole it from puzzle. Don't forget to show us your cards when they're ready! They are so wonderful!!!

Vicky, I'd love to see this LO when it's ready! I can only knit, was planned to learn crocheting this year, but it's never happened. Get fun at the party!

Rae, hope you was on time!

Cheryl, I want two coyotes for Christmas, please! I promise to not keep it in captivity lol LOL! I live near to the fields, and in past there was foxes, but now because of the road and evil people, we don't see any of them, they are escaped at the forest. Oh so kind and nice to save deer!

Jean, now I'm jealous we don't have so much snow, I want more!!!!!
Hey, you aren't give us link to see your art for sale! Pleeeease, I'm so curious!

Felis, you're SO funny!! I've loved reading this and I will try to trap a coyote for you for Christmas. How fun would that be to have a pack of howling coyotes in your house/yard?????

Our baby (boy) deer, we named him Fred, is up and walking around (gingerly) today. He's SO sweet. I've never been that close to a totally wild animal before. His little nose is so sweet and he has no choice than to trust us. We were able to pet him this afternoon - he doesn't seem to be afraid of us at all.

I didn't tell you girls the rest of the story - it might have been too sad. We really didn't think "Fred" would make it through the night. He was in shock last night and was shaking so bad. The kids wrapped him in blankets and sat with him and loved on him, but we didn't expect him to be alive this morning. He is and we were so excited. We went and checked on him during the day and we think he is going to be okay. His wound isn't horrible (from being caught in the fence) and my dh thinks he'll be okay in time.

Living in the country sure is different, but I love it.

Here are some pictures that I took earlier. It isn't very bright in the barn, there's only 1 window. You can see the sweet little thing's wound in the first picture. :(
