I am so glad that the AC got a few days' break over the weekend, looks like we have another heatwave coming through NJ again. It has been really wonderful having fresh(ish) air. It's always some range of muggy in the summer here but no AC running means that I can vacuum without blowing fuses. LOL I vacuumed like a madwoman yesterday and there was sooooooooo much dog hair.

The rats are doing really good, I have so much fun with them. I get to spoil them too, so many more treats than their mama gives them. *thinks a second* Nope, I don't; think that is true. Caitlyn gives them lots of treats and spoils them-- when she makes pancakes, she makes dime-sized ones for them :) The kids are having a blast camping too, according to Caitlyn since I haven't heard from Scott. pffff
My "big" project of the day was starting to scrap a Tarot Card deck. When I was asked by FS to be her CT, I started to get this idea of how fab her people would be at Tarot cards. After that rolling about in my head for a while, I asked if she would be ok with it and she actually had a Tarot Scrap kit in the works. She released that and I already made three cards. So much fun!!!

The kids are coming home tonight so I have to make sure the dishwasher and laundry are all up to date so they can get their stuff right in. That is the biggest downside to camping, having to unpack and clean everything. They are in a cabin so it is not as bad as tent-camping but still :/

Job interview news: My nephew has two interviews today and one tomorrow!! Nothing about Caitlyn yet. *crosses more fingers/toes*

And one more BIG welcome to the newbies! I have a little tip that might make it easier to keep up (Not that it is necessary to write personal comments, but if you want to this tip can help) I have the prior day's thread open in one tab and the current thread in another. I am lucky to have two monitors so I keep one up on each. Then I can just read yesterday's, and post to today's. HTH!!

@Betty Jo it is soooo good to see you here, and don't worry about writing lots or coming in every day. You make me smile every time you do pop in and that is plenty. I'm glad that you are starting to feel better but (everyone here knows what I am going to say next bwuhahaha!!) Don't push yourself!
I would gladly take your rain, everything is brown and crispy here.

@BrightEyes Boys!! (No matter their ages, men are always basically boys at heart and in mind ROTF!) So D-GS forgot about the plums. Sounds like another "boy" I know;) That's too bad that they can't be frozen (Plums, not boys) to use later.
It is great to see you back scrapping, I love the colors you picked for the challenge. Great news that the BP is holding steady too

@bcgal00 hehe, I know that everyone was shocked when I needed to take some time off from the Ooos after the "Incident" at Christmas. I felt like I wouldn't know what to do with myself every morning if I didn't start my day here. <3

@Betty Jo how do you get the little hearts into your posts? That is the emoji I miss the most here, I think. And the rolling pin. And the coffee pot. But yes the hearts are big for me.

Rae- did you take the dogs to swim yesterday? Bet they had a blast! When does Jen get back home?
The packing cubes sound like they will be a huge help! ROTFLMAO that you are gonna pack Betty Jo in there.

@Cherylndesigns Yup the family is back on the compound-- in and out all day long. :D
I have some markers for my plants but I have enough hubris to assume (*ahem*) that I will remember what I plant/move year-to-year. You think after all of these years I would know better. Nope SMH
I made the cork plant tags one year too but only for the indoor plants. Not sure what happened to them...
That makes sense to get a car that can be serviced close to you. Sorry, Chuck, no Caddy for you
th

:D:D:D

Ummmm-- @Amandajk -- This here:
Like I told you, we have a lot of fun in here - so don't be a stranger! I'm not usually quite as chatty as today, LOL.
Don't believe her, she is always chatty!! ;)

@scrapinmom Hey there! I am so glad that you haven't totally melted. I have to say that I am surprised that your humidity is not higher, I would think that you would be more than NJ- currently at 94% ick
What a doll baby your GS must be, you must melt every time you hear "yam." He is getting so big, going to Preschool already!

@Amandajk glad that it was "cooler" relatively speaking and you got to hang on the porch. The news from KY is so heartbreaking.
hahahaha- at the g-kids getting crumbs in your keyboard. How many and how old are they?
Good thoughts to your DH with the VA. My husband is disabled and it was a long nightmarish road trying to get that sorted out. But yippee on getting an RV, that will be a blast to have. I don't; want to think about the research. It was easier "back in the day" when you had to go to the library and read all of the issues of Consumer Reports- having the internet can be a blessing ad a curse for that

Better get my day rolling along...
Hugs!

Thanks, Chris.

I was laughing out loud about the dime-sized pancakes Caitlyn makes for the little rats. That is just precious! Do they like them with butter and maple syrup? :D

No rain for us today and only 88 degrees! A bit cooler . . .

Chris to get the little hearts, press ALT and then the number 3 on your keyboard. You can then highlight the heart and change the color by using the symbols at the top of the post. ♥ ♥ ♥

Must get my day rolling too, my youngest son's birthday is in a few days and I have shopping to do. Goodness, he'll be 50 years old! My baby will be 50!! Holy Moly - I'm feeling old!!

Good morning Lovelies.

Thought I'd better jump in before the revolving door starts. LOL So far, I've only gotten one text today. I know Ava and the girls are coming over today. Those cray cray girls - Ellie the chocolate wild one, jumped up and knocked my glasses off the other day - my NEW ones. I felt them "turn" so I'll need to go get them straightened. They don't know their own strength. I'm just glad she didn't break my nose. The last big yellow lab we had chipped my two front teeth with his big ole hard head. That was an expensive "game".

BWAAHA - "NO SOUP FOR YOU - COME BACK ONE YEAR!" One of the best all-time Seinfeld episodes. We all still say that. No Caddy for you - come back 3 year - still no. #angry2 That man has a way of talking me into things though - so we'll see.

Gotta get ready for the kids to return - empty those appliances. I had to lol about me not being chatty - You had to blow my cover, didn't ya?????

Betty Jo, I'm so glad to know how to do those little hearts! We'll all be posting little hearts now. Hahahaha Happy brthday to your baby! I love it - my youngest just turned 45 and she was wining about "feeling so old". I asked her how that made ME feel??? My oldest if 51! EEEKKKKK You made me laugh about the syrup on the pancakes for the rats. DUH I'm doing something wrong - I can't get the little hearts to work. DOINK!

Did I tell you girls that I got a dehydrator for my herbs? I don't have to hang them to dry anymore. It takes between 12 and 20 hours depending on the herb. The sage took way longer - it's more leafy. It's pretty cool- Chuck surprised me with it. I dried oregano and sage the other day. It has 6 trays but you can put anything right in the middle, so it doesn't hold a tremendous amount. I'm going to try some different herbs today. I have Cilantro for Adrienne - she loves that. I also have Rosemary and lavender.

Hello to all of you who come in later - I'll try to stop back in. XOXO

Morning, all. Had a long sleep last night... from 9PM until 7:30AM!!! Looks like my body is still needing time to recover from whatever I had last week. Even though I am back to scrapping... I am taking is slow and not doing as much as usual for the start of a new month.

Grandson made it over after work yesterday to pick up the plums. I also sent a tub of frozen Spanish Rice with him. I had made it a couple of months ago when DD#1 + hubby were visiting and DD#3 + family were here. It would take me over a year to eat it up - and there is 4 at their house. LOL I am slowly going through stuff in the freezer and using up the older things in there.

Must get my day rolling too, my youngest son's birthday is in a few days and I have shopping to do. Goodness, he'll be 50 years old! My baby will be 50!! Holy Moly - I'm feeling old!!
#kiss3Welcome to "golden years".... I've been there for awhile. My youngest is turning 58 this year and the oldest is starting to draw Social Security!!! Seems like it was only a couple of years ago when DD#1 turned 50! Thanks for the tip about make a heart. Discovered I had to use the number keyboard on the side... not the numbers above the letters. ♥♥♥♥ ♦♦♦♦ ♣♣♣♣ ♠♠♠♠

@faerywings Saw your LO with the rats... oh so funny! Loved the instructions that Cait left for you about their care! Yes, it is wise to have the dishwasher and washing machine/dryer empty when the kids get home today. There will be a lot of stuff that needs to be cleaned once they get home.

@Cherylndesigns Bet you will be putting that dehydrator to good use. How great that you have a lot of herbs in the garden and can make your own spices. Sorry that your dill didn't make it.

Time to get my shower and dressed. I have a couple of errands I must run today - and should do them before afternoon when the rains usually come. CYL

Good morning ladies. The 100+ temps are over...whew. Taking the dogs out to the yard numerous times in that heat was so draining. Glad it will stay around 90 for another week or so and then will start dropping a bit. We are over the hump of the summer heat. We took the dogs to the boat dock at the river yesterday and they had a blast. I was a bit worried about the strong water current so had to make sure the dogs didn't get too far out in the water. A fellow drowned on the wkend just a little further down the river b/c of the rushing water. The wind started up and was blowing like crazy. It was sad to watch the helicopters with water bags flying back and forth (there is a nearby forest fire) and the sky was orange. I saw a medical plane land too. The airport is across the road from the river.

Today is a quiet day, staying home to do chores and maybe scrap a bit later. I never did get to the store for ingredients for the stroganoff so had bacon and eggs. Tonight we'll have bacon and cheese omelet. Can't wait for the cruise and a week of no cooking. I'm so lazy about cooking these days.

@faerywings Have fun with the rats and the tarot cards. Sending good vibes for the jobs.

@Betty Jo Have fun shopping for a b-day gift. I didn't know about ALT and 3 for the hearts

@Cherylndesigns Enjoy the herb dehydrating. I gave my dehydrator to my daughter, I never used it. But I could see it being awesome for herb drying.

@BrightEyes Sounds like you needed the extra sleep. Good to take it slow.

I'm going to finish up my coffee and go hop in the shower. I have lots of little chores I want to do today.

Hi all,

I am working away through the tail end of winter here and getting lots of fun designing done ;-) But I can't wait for the sun to return, and to start travelling a bit with DH again when he is away for work.

Have arranged to visit my parents next month (tacked onto one of these trips) and will also visit them in January, when we have been gifted a week in a beach house quite near them. So yesterday I negotiated probably not taking the whole family up there for Christmas for the first time in years.

It's just so expensive at the moment to fly all four of us, and DH shouldn't be driving for long days now. To be honest, I think we were all relieved (they are finding it a bit tiring these days). Next year we plan to move closer to them so it'll be less of a drama visiting them!

This week my youngest has applied for university supported (but self catering) housing and if she gets a place she'll move out in November  It'll hopefully be a safe and fun place for her to live, when we move closer to my parents

@faerywings good luck for those job interviews! And I always love hearing about your rats :)

@Betty Jo LOL at the half-century baby (sorry, put like that it sounds even worse doesn't it!). DH was watching old black and white videos from the '60s on youtube last night and laughing at how incredibly old fashioned they were and I realised they were from the very year I was born

@Cherylndesigns love the idea of dehydrating your herbs, especially the lavender. Very cool

@BrightEyes yay for a good long sleep. You must have needed it :)

@bcgal00 such an amazing place you live in now! Bet the dogs absolutely love exploring it.

@Lynn Grieveson Oh, I can relate. There's a really popular Swedish TV show, mystery/suspense for kids/teens, that almost every person in Sweden have seen. It's b/w, and everything's really old looking, old cars, the fashion, stuff not being electric that definetely is electric these days and so on. Realized it's from 1967, the year I was born. World has changed a LOT during my lifetime. I remember when the ATM arrived. Wow! To be able to get your own money, without queuing inside the bank office. And now, bank offices don't even have cash anymore!

Lynn, my dehydrator is really cool - I just put Rosemary, Lemon Balm and more Oregano in it. I'll do the lavender in the next batch. My Sage still isn't "crusty" enough, so I needed 2 racks for it to go another round. It smells SO good in my kitchen from those cut stems and the Rosemary is very aromatic. You can dehydrate all sorts of things in it.

It's pretty nice and I just posted it in a reply to Lynn. You can dehydrate all sorts of things in it - so I'll want to experiment. DH loves jerky and it makes that, too. It would be a good way to preserve some food.

Stay safe - sounds like you could have some dangerous waters.
