Guess what I got yesterday!?!?!?!?

I got the check for the heating assistance!!! I was approved!!!!! Whew!!!!! What a relief!!!!!!!!!!
You have no idea how happy that made me and how loud I yelled. Caitlyn told me I had to run, jump, and click my heels so I did. And almost fell over, which would have been funny but bad if that meant I had to go to the hospital - thus eating up the "extra" money that the check represented. It came at the perfect time (actually, "perfect" would have been months ago but can't complain about what is done). I had gotten an updated statement from my heating oil company on Sat. with a balance due of over $600. I am on the monthly budget billing plan so I called to see if I could spread that over the next three payments until the reconciliation payment is due. He said that was fine but looked at my account and noted that we had at least one more oil delivery before then and at the price oil is now-- it would be about *another* $600. So yes, this came at the perfect time. Whew!!!!!!!!!

That was most definitely the highlight of my day. Something else good happened but I don't remember what it was. The heating assistance crowded out everything else, I suppose.

I am taking my mom to the cardiologist today. Please let her be in a good mood. She was fine yesterday but the day before, the entire time we were on the phone she was non-stop complaining about things my dad did or did not do.

@tanteva Ahhhhhhgggggggggggg!!! I love the page/hate the photos LOL

@taxed4ever Sorry that you are having more soggy weather, we are too. Boo. Scott and Sam had planned on doing a sunrise hike on Wed but we are supposed to have heavy rain tonight into tomorrow so not much point in that. I hope that the rain gets out of the way in time for your hike tomorrow.
That is great about finding a new faucet. Moen costs a bit more but we have very hard water and a lot of sediment which mucks them up. Moen has never given us a hard time about replacing either the faucets or the showerhead. Too bad I don't live near you, I could have bought your bread machine. My family wants me to double the breadstick recipe but I can't (it would overflow), so they keep telling me to get a second machine LOL

EVA!!!! They looooooook soooooooooooooooo good!!! Swear to gawd, I am drooling...

@bcgal00 Congrats on the new house and the new neighborhood to walk in! Good luck finding all of the best furniture and deals too. Keep us posted on how you are all doing xo

@Cherylndesigns I forgot to ask Scott about flintknapping. Tonight. I will ask tonight. The new Etsy shop is called the Wholesome Crypt - I'll share a link when they are live. They are using vegan paints- I had no idea that was a thing, but apparently black and grey paints often contain bone char.

@scrap-genie We had flurries twice last week, but nothing since then. I sure hope I don't see any.

Eva-- I am torn between looking/reading about Bucha, knowing it has to be worse in Mariupol, and wanting to memory-hole it. I can't watch the videos/TV news, that is so much harder than just the photos. I feel 100% helpless and sickened. You know if you ever need to get those words out, you have my email, right?

xoxo

Eva @tanteva want to thank you for the breakfast cookie recipe. I had to do some substitutions, but made some yesterday and that was breakfast today & it was so good! I'm trying not to think so much about the world that I can't fix, but am trying to make myself feel better by wearing my only yellow shirt with a blue fleece. Have a zoom meeting soon, so all for now.

Chris @faerywings Cheers for the heating bill help!!

Hi, all. We are getting back into a normal routine. Hated to see DD#1 and hubby leave on Sunday. I spent part of Sunday changing sheets and moving DD#3 back into the guest bedroom. Yesterday was doing laundry for her so today is laundry day for me. DD#3 started back to work (on-line from my house) on Monday. She managed a full day but was really tired by the end. She has a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Hopefully this will be the day they take the stitches out and put her in a walking boot.... but she isn't suppose to do any weight-bearing with it. Last time it was almost 2 hours with the doctor... and think that this appt will be just as long. It will make for a very long day.

Chris, so glad that the heating assistance came through finally!!! Hope all goes well with your Mom's appointment and she doesn't drive you bonkers complaining about your dad.

Rae, so happy you are in the new house. Oh, how much fun to shop of new furniture, etc!! Know you will busy as a bee with all the unpacking and getting settled.

Cheryl, really like the LO you did for my challenge. Loved seeing the new pups... adorable.

Linda @LSlycord the European trip is getting so close now... bet you are busy trying to get everything ready for it. Hope the weather is good while you are there.

Eva... snow!!! Sorry winter popped back up in your area. Love the photo of the rolls... they look delicious.

Trudy, glad you found a faucet that you both like. I need to contact Moen and get a new control valve for the shower for my bathroom. It is getting where I get less water pressure and less hot water in the shower. Once I get the new valve, I can call the plumber to come in and replace it. Hope the weather gets better on the days you go for the hike.

Time to get off the computer and get the laundry started. CYL

Good late morning everyone! I have already been to the pool. Woke up at 7:30 got into my bathing suit and grabbed my swim bag and out the door I went. After brushing my teeth and hair LOL. The pool was pretty quiet, had a lane to myself for a bit. Then two young gals were looking for a lane to swim in together so I moved over and gave them mine and shared a lane with another lady. It was good to get that exercise in first thing in the morning. We had a terribly windy day yesterday and so many huge branches flying around the neighbourhood. Ugh we will have lots to clean up in the back yard! Our power never went out, but so many places had no power and lots of trees down. We don't usually have these winds in the spring, mostly in the Fall, Mother Nature is not very happy with us is she!! I got a birthday card done for FIL his birthday is on the 10th, mine is the 14th and SIL Linda's was at the end of March so we are all getting together this Friday for lunch. Not sure if DH's other sister will join us, but he took Friday off so we could celebrate together. Hopefully FIL won't have anymore surprises for us LOL. I have some catching up to do here today and hope to spend the day scrapping. Yesterday I got lost in my craft room playing with all my card making stuff, so no commenting or anything else got done.

@faerywings - Wooo Hoooo!! Doing a happy dance for you! So glad you FINALLY got your heating assistance cheque!! Sure took them long enough!! Hope you remember what the other good thing that happened to you was!!

Ok my stomach is telling me I need to eat, so I will grab something quick and get back here to catch up with the rest of you in a bit!

Good afternoon.

It's almost 70 right now and they say the cold is over. We're going to start planting this weekend. Our cleaning lady offered to come over and spend the day, on Saturday, and help us do anything I want her to do. She's SO handy and TALL! I'm not very tall and Casey just reaches up and does everything. Ava's wonderful to help, but I hate asking her all the time and now she's working full time from home plus the pups. She's super busy right now, so when Casey offered, I jumped on it! She's also bringing me plants of the herbs she started from seed. She goes strictly by The Farmer's Almanac and says we can put them out now.

Chris @faerywings I'm SO excited for you - please don't try to click your heels together unless you're holding onto something. But I love the skeleton doing his dance! That's SO amazing and I know it's a huge load off your mind and your wallet! WOW - that's great that they're going to let you spread it out, too. AWESOME news!!!

I'm anxious to see if Scott knows what flintknapping is - I'd be surprised it he doesn't. Here's sending you a hug that the doctor visit goes well with your mom. :)

Kay @BrightEyes sounds like you have a very busy day - I know how exhausting those doctor visits can be! I'm so glad you liked my layout and my picture of the pups. Sorry that your DD and SIL had to leave. :(

Eva @tanteva I'm with Chris - I can't even watch anything more about the war. It's a world gone mad - everywhere. I never thought we'd see these things in our lifetime. It's a sad state of affairs - everywhere. I was SO terribly depressed yesterday - #1 because it rained all day but mainly because of all the craziness.

I'm going to sign off and try not to think about anything bad/sad/scary today. Sun is shining and I'm going to get outside. Hugs to all.

Ok back to personals...
@bcgal00 - Ohhh I wish I could go shopping for new furniture with you!! Hope you have better luck than we did if you have to order anything , we are still waiting for our new kitchen table and chairs!! We ordered them in January  . Enjoy exploring the new neighbourhood! I am sure the dogs are thrilled to out exploring with you!

@scrap-genie - so nice that you are wearing your blue and yellow for those in the Ukraine!! It is such a sad state of affairs isn't it!! Great that you got a new breakfast recipe to try out, sounds like they turned out yummy! Hope your zoom meeting goes well!

@BrightEyes - Another very busy day for you! That is sad that your DD#1 and hubby had to leave, but I imagine you had a wonderful time together! Glad to hear that your DD#3 is doing so well and is able to work. Hope the stitches come out and she can get into a boot! It will be a very long day for you if you have to spend that much time at the drs.

@Cherylndesigns - Sorry you were feeling so depressed yesterday, the rain and the sadness of the world will certainly do that to you! Nice that your temps are going to be warm enough for you to start your planting! Yup handy to have someone tall around when you need the help! We are having terrible wind gusts again today, but the sun is out. Enjoy the sunshine today and stay away from the news!!

@tanteva - Your new machine and you have been busy! Those buns look so delicious, wish I could eat them, but my stomach would be very angry with me! I think the rest of the world is feeling the same way as you! Hard to believe this is happening in this day and age! (((hugs))) you need to stay away from the news for awhile too!

Ok off to open up my Photoshop and get scrapping!!

Trudy @taxed4ever - yes - TV has NOT been on today! I can't take it anymore. I'm listening to an ebook again - my "go-to" to get my sanity back. LOL OPS - "Only Positive Stuff". Yes, having tall people around is very helpful. All of my GK's are tall, but they're not usually around when I need tall people. Chuck's pretty tall, but I don't always want to ask him to do the things I want done. Casey is going to hang twinkle lights all around my front porch, which I've wanted since we moved in. I can't wait! She told me to make a list.

I think we cross-posted. Have fun scrapping.

I did watch news today. I need to keep up with things, or my anxiety will come up with stuff even worse. But... I have watched 7 or maybe 8 episodes of McLeods Daughters. Nothing like an imaginary world to flee into!

Made Urban a promise today. I've never had champagne in my life, but I'll drink an entire bottle on the day Putin dies. I'm gonna buy a bottle and be prepared!

We had more snow today ***sigh*** but some sun as well.

Made carrot patties for dinner tonight with my new machine. She still haven't gotten a name. Tomorrow I'll think I'm going to bake something.

It's almost 1am here and I should go to bed. Hopefully no bad dreams this night. Please let me dream about love!
