Who has any sanity left? I am not asking for myself (however much I could use it) but for my country. What an absolute *bonkers* day in the US yesterday. And I don't know about the general public, but it seems to me that no one seems very shocked or concerned that pipe bombs were sent to Former Presidents/Secretary of State/Media/and more? And now I see another one was sent this morning... I don't get it, where is the outrage?

I should remember that I have other issues to deal with- like health insurance. Caitlyn has aged out of the NJFamilyCare (Medicaid) and applied as an adult. But apparently, that can't be done since we claim her as a dependent even though that is what the agency told Scott to do last year. I have to add her to my insurance through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace while we wait for her new app to fully processed (they had an error for Scott's income that he was making almost $2000/month! he wasn't making that even when he was FT at his summer job). So I go through 90% of the application online. I get to the point where it asks when she loses insurance which is Oct 31, and I get an error message that I can't add her until she is officially uninsured. For real. So on Nov 1st, I have to go back and redo everything I did yesterday, pay the premium immediately and hope that nothing happens to her medically in however long it takes to have her formally covered. This is a nightmare.
This nightmare doesn't take into account that Gary still has to do Open Enrollment for Medicare and I have to go through Open Enrollment for Obamacare also on Nov 1... A freaking nightmare.

That chopped up most of my morning and then I cleaned in the afternoon. We took W for a very windy walk and then watched 2 more episodes of Hill House. We are addicted!

Today I have errands to run around town and then Cait has a Drs appt that she wants me to go with her. Busy day.

hope that today is a calmer one for *everyone*!
xoxo

Oh my, I should proofread some of my posts before I hit Submit. I typed yesterday-- I didn't take leave instead of rake leaves. ha!

One of the things about Hill House is that it really does get into your mind. I just freaked myself out slightly. I heard this noise (I am the only one awake) that sounded like a noise from the show and it seemed to be coming right from my closet in my office. I listened for a while and went to the closet an opened it up verrrry slowly. There was nothing there, I looked on the other side of the wall in the DR, nothing... Then the noise stopped. I think it was W licking herself very loudly but wow, I was a bit spooked for a second! :scared:

Nancy- Congratulations for being a Great Aunt again! The cold weather reminds me too that I should check tire pressure, esp in Cait's car that seems to have leaks. Yay for good hair!
We are seeing a tiny bit of color here, but when Cait and I drove up towards Newburgh NY, we will see a lot more I bet.

Trudy- how was the hike? Did you get a lot of good pics of wildlife? Good to hear that Hunter is doing well and yeah that is great that his Dr. called to check in. My vet does that, but never the Drs.

Rae- any luck getting your instant pot?

Jean- OMG, you have been very busy!! Nice to hear that it is all for good things :)
My mom's Christmas cactus is getting buds on its ends. How did you cook the chicken? I might make that for dinner tonight if I am home in time to cook. Would love a new idea!

Morning ladies... well the rain has started and lord knows when it will end LOL. Its all good the weather stayed very nice for our hike yesterday. We saw a bit of wildlife, a Great Blue Heron and some swans. When we went further into Cowichan Bay village we heard the Sea Lions barking and there were lots of them sitting on the wharfs. I could not get close enough to get a photo of them however, the stench was horrible!! I had no idea that they smelled that bad
speechless-smiley.gif
anyway no photos of those smelly guys. Not much going on for me today. I will hit the pool and get my laps in and then home to start my calendar pages. I am way behind schedule for those. Oh and I got my latest project finished so will post a photo of it here.

It was an idea that I got off of Pinterest of course LOL. I have it hanging in the hallway by my bedroom. Now I can get to work on my calendars and some other scrapbooking that I really need to do. Seems I needed to get these silly little projects out of my head so I can move on :becky:

Chris - Ughh more health insurance craziness for your family!! I would be tearing my hair out!! :gaah: Why is everything so difficult!! Yikes on hearing the noise in the house and for Cait to hear it too in a different part of the house
scary-smiley.gif
I would be freaking out for sure! I can't believe you got up and opened that closet door!! Don't you know that is when people get attacked LOL. I hope that your day is a bit more tranquil and you can do something fun!

Rae - Hope you got your Instant pot and for a great price! I know that you probably did you are such a great shopper! The hike was very nice and I bet you and Taz would have loved it too. There were a lot of others there with their dogs, they have to be on leash however because of the sensitive habitat for the fish and birds. Some owners are very bad and let the dogs chase the birds and thrash around in the water :nono: There are many other places that they can do that, so not sure why they think it is ok in this very sensitive estuary? Anyway I hope that your workload is not too heavy today and that you are enjoying your new pot (if you purchased it).

Jean - Wow such a busy lady! I bet everyone enjoyed the Hum and Strum! How fun to see the poinsettia starting to change colour. I have never been able to keep one alive that long LOL. I hope you continue to enjoy the baseball even though they are not your fav teams.

Alright I am off to make the bed, empty the dishwasher, blah, blah, blah LOL. Have a great day ladies!!

Good morning, ladies. It's cold and damp here today. The rain has come and the temps now are going to be low to mid 50's for the next 10 days or so. They are forecasting sun on Saturday so fingers crossed b/c we're going to go close up the trailer this wkend. Normally we leave it open and go up until Black Friday wkend but we have only gone a few times this summer and I'm ready to call it quits for the year. So hopefully it will remain dry on Saturday as we blow out the water lines and put away the deck furniture. I think I'll enjoy just going up for a few hours, a few times, over the winter to check on things and maybe take some winter photos up there, but don't feel like I want to spend the night at this point.

I got my instant pot yesterday. I'm putting together a few recipes to make and will try it out this wkend. I am going to try making my own (almond) yogurt with probiotics with the IP.

Chris - I can't wait to see that show. It may be my Halloween pick this year. We always watch some kind of horror/scary show on Halloween night. I'm also interested in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (which is supposed to be much darker than the comedy show from yrs ago). If I don't see either of them on Halloween, they are definitely on my must-see list for sometime soon. I just cringe at your horror stories about health care. I would be ripping my hair out.

Trudy - sounds like a great hike yesterday. Yes, the smell can be pretty strong LOL. You are so creative, love your latest project!

Hope everyone is well. I'm getting to work now. Have a great day.

Nothing special here, just more genealogy stuff and the usual. It's rather gray but not so dark as some recent days. Tonight we switch from watching baseball back to football, again teams I don't much care about. Friday back to baseball.

Chris, so sorry the health insurance is such a nightmare. We had it so good with our HMO for 49 years, but it's gone and we're having to deal with the medical insanity like everyone else. As to the chicken, I browned chicken breast cutlets (thinner than the full breast) in butter and garlic then added cut up green onions and walnuts and just seasoned with fresh ground black pepper. I wonder if lemon juice or ginger might have been a nice addition? I cooked enough chicken for lunch yesterday and today too. It was a change for me as I don't usually cook with butter, just olive oil.

Trudy!! Your artwork is so lovely. It must be a joy every time you walk by it. Your hike sounds like a pleasure at least without the smell of the seals. Guess real wildlife is like that. Hope the pool wasn't crowded and you get lots done for the calendars.

Rae, sad the trailer saw so little use, hope you do get there for some winter photos.

Nancy, did you get to Panera's for dinner last night?
