So yesterday felt like Thursday so today feels like Friday. Sure, why not? heh. This Thursday/Friday feeling also has me feeling nostalgic. I am thinking of my babies as babies. My goodness, they were so cute! Bratty on occasion, but cute. We had lots of fun when they were kids and it always makes me happy when they share childhood memories at dinner. We weren't doing that last night so I am not sure where this mood came from, but I think I had a dream last night that triggered it. I remember waking up and feeling sad. No clue why at this point.

Yesterday was as I expected- fun and not so fun but I prevailed! My mom is coming up here to see me today. She says that she is up to it and it will be nice to see her one on one. We haven't had that chance in a long time. I am going to help her with some of her banking and we might go grab something for lunch. I checked the weather again this morning and it still looks nice for Mon-Tues.

Wishing you all a wonderful day! xoxo

Trudy- did you have a nice time on your hike? I hope that the fog cleared and it wasn't too cold for you. Over the summer, Scott splurged and bought a new backpack, one that has a removable water bladder with the tubing that clips to the shoulder straps. It was over $100 but for someone like him, it was worth every penny. The water bladders are so much smarter than water bottles and lighter than stainless steel ones like I use. I hope that you didn't need the hand warmers just yet.

Are the paintings you are working on the ones that are commissioned? Have fun with them.
Yes, the washing machine is a front loader- our second one and we always keep the door open and never had a problem with the smell before. This machine recommends cleaning it every 30 days and lights up when you are due. I ran the cleaner a few days ago and it didn't fix the smell. I don't know what else to try.
Do you think you will ever get a new kitty?

Kay- How did the balloon photos come out? I hope that the fog didn't make them too hazy.
I am happy that you are physically feeling better. Sending hugs to you as you commemorate another month passing... :(
I will try the Borax and vinegar combo. Straight vinegar didn't do the trick. Thank you for the suggestion!

Felis- oh no, I hate when my head gets like your is right now- hard to keep interest and focus on any one thing. I hope that ends soon for you.
People laugh at me because I try to reduce and reuse as much as I can. I wash out Ziploc bags and use them until they get holes in them. I turn over almost empty laundry detergent bottles on dirty clothes to get the last drips out. The lipstick brush is a fantastic idea! Good job! I love the color in the photo. Very pretty!

Nancy- I hope you are doing great and will be home soon if you aren't already.

Morning ladies... OMG it is so cold here this morning!! The temp says zero outside, we never get to zero in October WTH?? So the fireplace is on and the Heat Pump is running and I have a hot cup of coffee to warm my hands and insides. Up early and got DH some poached eggs for his breakfast. I slept like a log until around 4:30am but I was in bed early last night, pooped out after our very long and grueling hike! Although it started out on the flat trans canada trail the second half of the hike was steady uphill climbing. We had our lunch looking over the Cowichan Valley and the view was very pretty especially since the sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky. I had to wear my mitts for most of the way as it was quite cool and there was a bit of a breeze. The trip back down was nice and warm with the sun at our backs, but that steady downhill was really hard on the legs! When the hike was done I ran out to my sisters to drop of a few things to her and to get my eggs for the week. We had a quick visit and then I drove home and climbed into a nice hot bath!! It felt really good! So today I am staying home and finishing off a few projects and will go to the pool on Friday.

Chris - Yes the paintings I am now working on are the commissioned ones. I think that I might get tired of painting turtles when I am done with these LOL. Perhaps I should try doing some whales or fish for change? Hope that the Borax and vinegar works to get the smell out of your front loader! It is horrible when all your clothes come out of the wash smelling funky like that! I think that one day I will get another kitty, but probably not for a while yet. DH and I are planning to travel more in the next few years and it just would not be fair to have to put a Cat in a strange place for weeks at a time or maybe even longer. Glad to hear that your Mom is feeling good enough to come for a visit with you! Hope you get to have a nice lunch together!

Kay - I am happy that you are feeling so much better physically! I too am sending you hugs for marking another month off the calendar. Hope that your photos of the balloons turned out for you!

Felis - Uggh I hate when I flit around from one thing to another and then never get anything accomplished on any of the projects! Hope that you can be more focused soon! I am like Chris and tend to re-use things until they are worn right out LOL. Great idea to use the lipstick brush and that colour is divine!! Looking forward to seeing what your scrap!

I really need another cup of coffee and then get to work on my unfinished projects all over the house LOL. A scrap page to finish off, paintings to work on and the 40th birthday card that I really need to get out in mail!! I should be kept busy for most of the day! Have a lovely day everyone and I hope your temps are warmer than mine are today!

Yesterday and today beautiful, not too cool and sunny. Yesterday was the monthly genealogy group at the senior center, a good time as always. In the little garden outside there were monarch butterflies and a number of ones called painted ladies that also migrate. Today is mixed media, but it is now not really a class. With only four paid students, there weren't enough (six needed) but the teacher is "volunteering" to be there anyway, so we get a credit for a future class and can use the room anyway. Tonight we'll be watching the football game, but I'm also signed up for a genealogy webinar at that time, so will have to use earbuds and juggle eating dinner and watching the webinar.

Chris, hope you're having a good time with mom. And that the weather cooperates! As to the perfectionism quote, it wasn't directed at you, but I have to admit I thought of you. :bounce: But you have been on a roll with scrap pages and really creative ones. Where I saw the quote was in a mystery from the "Cora Craft" series by Mollie Cox Bryan. I've been having fun with them and getting crafty ideas too.

Trudy that hike sounds amazing in beauty and effort. I really admire how fit you have to be to do it. I can imagine getting less excited about painting the turtles but your new ideas might inspire. Maybe pretty fish or tendrils of sea life? The paintings are so attractive in any case.

Felis, I'll join in saying the lipstick color is luscious and the idea just one more good way to act. Sorry you are so unfocused right now. You've seen that others of us get that way too so we can commiserate with you. I seem to have little bouts of energy that come and go.

Kay, hope you'll share the balloon photos. Nice to get to see them because you had to be up early. Hope you got to the store and stocked up.

Keeping Nancy in my thoughts!

Good morning. I have just a bit of time today so here it is in a nutshell:
-Reno's inside and outside are DONE! yay. I just have to do the clean up and hang pictures. The drywall fellow came and fixed all the holes in the wall than painted everything. I thought that would be a job I would have to do so I am very happy.

-This morning I managed to put 3 fruit cakes in the oven. They should have enough time to ripen for the holidays. I send one to my brother every year. I have done that since my mom passed as that was something she did for him each year.

Chris.. Front loaders have to have the door open when not in use. Also after each wash session if you wipe out the door with a cloth that keeps the moisture down which is the cause of the smell. I don't know if you knew that. Hope it helps.

whoops my timer just went. gotta go
