Anyone have an extra heat pack or 2 or 18 I can borrow? Guess what I did yesterday? I overdid it. Shocked? Nah, of course not!

I grabbed one of "those" shopping carts yesterday, you know, the ones where you struggle to keep the cart moving in a straight line. That was fun. Then I cleaned my kitchen for 2 hours which if you saw how small my kitchen is you would also be shocked. But I put some of the Halloween decorations into the DR and cleaned out the toaster oven, dusted everything, scrubbed the floor. But the weather was wonderful in the afternoon that I went outside to rake the front lawn.

Hmmph.

You'd think I would learn. :p

Today I am going to be working in the kitchen for F-W's but I need stuff out of the attic and the attic stairs are broken so Gary has to help me pull them down so they don't snap back up and hit me in the face. I am not sure what is actually wrong with them, but they need to be replaced and it is not a project Gary is looking forward to doing. It is always something. heh.

I also have to suck it up and look for some hair style/color ideas. I don't have any idea of what to do with this mess.

Have a terrific day everyone!

Here we go for a good idea, it is Men Make Dinner Day:
A beautiful image isn’t it? Coming home at the end of the day and the wife has dinner all laid out and ready for her hard working husband. Part of the bucolic yesteryear images of the 50’s, when the man worked and the woman stayed home (working harder than him most days!) to keep the house in order and running, it’s not surprising that while the tradition of the wife making dinner has persisted, most of the time it’s as part of a two earner household.
It’s time to start turning that around, and Men Make Dinner Day is just one small step on equally sharing the responsibilities of making a home and life together. Besides, some of the world’s greatest chefs are men, so there certainly isn’t any standing evidence that men are just worse cooks. Men Make Dinner Day is your chance to try out your culinary skills… just remember that ordering take-out isn’t actually ‘making dinner’ boys.
History of Men Make Dinner Day
Men Make Dinner day was established to help those men that have perhaps never cooked outside of a barbecue, and are a little intimidated by the kitchen. Sandy Sharkey was responsible for the creation of this day, determined that men could be amazing in the kitchen, and help to produce some truly tremendous meals.
They’d met far too many men who were not just inexperienced in the kitchen, but were in fact entirely afraid of the prospect of approaching a kitchen with the intent of preparing a meal. Men Make Dinner day is your opportunity to get out from in front of the barbecue, and truly amaze your family with a great meal… eventually.
How to Celebrate Men Make Dinner Day
There are a few rules to celebrating Men Make Dinner day, and they start with no barbecuing. They then follow by not permitting reheating left-overs or ordering pizza. Men Make Dinner day is a day for men to get into the kitchen and learn the (not so) arcane art of preparing amazing meals. The first thing to bring with you in preparation for making your first meal is a sense of humor. Mistakes happen when you’re learning your way around the kitchen, and cooking is a skill that is part art, part science. There’s plenty to go wrong!
But don’t let that intimidate you, some of the greatest meals were invented by a mistake turned amazing. Just remember, your partner isn’t allowed to help you with the preparations, they can help you pick out a meal, even one they’ve made before, but after that you’re largely on your own! Look on the bright side! At least there won’t be any kale in this meal, and no shortage of meat!

nancy- it really turned out to be a beautiful day yesterday. We even turned the heat off and opened the windows. Did you and Luther get out for a good long walk? If I had more time, (or would that be less sanity?) I thought about taking the dogs for a walk, but could you imagine what I would feel like today, if I had? The Block Head, aka Jaida, has done the same to us. Freaking hard head! I am sure that wasn't the first time, nor the last that has happened to the trainer. but your hubs... he needs sure training too LOL :dogwalk:

Trudy- WTG on the extra laps! You are going to keep adding more and more on every time. Sorry to hear about the storm and not being able to hike, but it sounds like it was a good thing in a way so you can keep working on the calendars.
Shut up. No one is allowed to say that they are fat. No one, not even me. My constant struggle... But I am happy to hear that the new suit is good!

Rae- I had to chuckle about how you praised Taz like he was the first dog to ever pee outside. LOL This illness is strange- and I can't believe after 12 days you are still feeling so poorly. I wish I could help!
Oh my goodness, those are some crazy dog injury stories! I can see why you picked Taz, being a smaller guy. :D

Jean- I am so sorry about the game. Sounds like the teams played hard and it must be a tough loss. I totally forgive you about no personals, so much more important to be outside on a day like yesterday. :p

Hugs!

good morning - whew am I tired. That baseball game was crazy. And then a rain delay after 9 innings. Jean so sorry! I have been there with my Devils. I am happy for the Cubs fans. Luther and I had a long walk but we met a cat and I nearly had to let go and then a doe and her fawns that just toyed with Luther and could not have cared that he was barking up a storm. Lorrie the trainer said that she is not surprised that Luther needs to go on long walks to get rid of the anxiety of being with her and training. But for me the best is that Luther loves seeing her and gives her an awesome welcome. Tomorrow my son and I go for our lesson. That should be interesting. My DH is still limping but some what better. I also got my new glasses and only my son noticed they are new. He was funny - he came in and asked if they were new and when I said yes he was so upset because he knew the appt was a couple weeks ago and he was embarrassed he had not noticed but I told him I just got them and he was happy. My DH did not notice at all. Cracks me up.

Chris it was gorgeous out yesterday. I can see why you over did. The leaf collection has started but most of our leaves are still on the trees LOL. Have fun making all your goodies!

Trudy sorry the hike was a no go. But the new suit sounds awesome. Good luck increasing the number of laps. Part of the fun of losing the weight is knowing that you get to put it back on during the holidays and as Chris says no one gets to say fat!

Rae thanks for sharing the dog stories. I am impressed by the number and kinds of dogs you have had. I just did not understand dogs and now I am getting a much better education on dogs just how different the breeds are and how and what dogs need to be at their best. Hope you starting feeling much better soon! 12 days is too long! Actually one day is too long.

Jean again so sorry about the Indians. I thought they had the momentum when they tied in the 8th. I think the rain delay gave the Cubs a chance to regroup. Next year!

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... I slept in a bit this morning, but I was up tossing and turning during the night. When DH leaves for work is when I have my best sleep LOL. I guess I just like having the whole bed to myself!!
big-bed-smiley.gif
Swimming today and working on a page, but not much else is happening here. I had a crazy dream last night, I caught the neighbours in my house looking around and snooping at everything. I yelled at them to leave but they just ignored me and kept doing what they were doing. In my dream I couldn't make it to the phone to call the police. What a stupid dream!! I really need to let my anger at them go, its creeping into my dreams now :becky: I need to do what the tea leaf reader told me to do and just ask the universe to move them from me with love and light and harm to no one. Sheesh I hope I don't have any more dreams like that :gaah:

Chris - You over did again?? No not you :becky: Sounds like you had a really productive day though!! I had to laugh at the Men Make Dinner Day!! If my Gary could not use the BBQ then it would be KD or tin spaghetti on toast for me for dinner Ugh!! He used to make that for the kids and they loved it when Dad cooked! Not so much anymore though LOL unless its BBQ then he shines like a star with that kind of cooking!! Glad to hear that you got to be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather you had yesterday! Hopefully it will continue for you for a while now! You could send some out this way, we wouldn't mind at all!

Nancy - Yikes Luther sounds like he is very strong!! Be careful of those deer, they can get nasty and attack sometimes, but I guess Luther is just being a dog and doing what dogs do. I hope that your arm is not too sore! Good luck with your training tomorrow, so nice that your son is going with you! Funny how guys do not notice things like new glasses, but good on your son for doing so! Yes the Ball game went on for such a long time, it was nice for the Cubs Fans that they won, after all its been a very long time coming!!

Rae - I hope that you are finally starting to feel human again!! Such a horrible Virus this one! I have been dealing with my Vertigo again lately and it really sucks! I have a hard time sitting in front of the computer for too long with it. But it is finally getting better now and I thought that I might have a hard time swimming with it, but it doesn't seem to be any worse when I swim, so that is good. How are you liking your new computer and desk set up? I bet your hubs is happy to have you in the same room now! Hope that your work load is not too bad today and that the rain holds off you and Taz today! So far it looks like it might not be too bad of a day here.

Jean - Sorry that your team did not win the game for you. But over 100 years to wait to win is a very long time for the Cubs fans!! I know that you must be tired after waiting up so long watching the game then to have a rain delay too, yikes it must have been late for you!! Perhaps next year will be the year for your Indians to win! I hope that you have a nice relaxing day today!

Ok I need another cup of coffee and some breakfast, then off to swimming. Tomorrow is my hair appt for a cut and colour and I am really in need of it! Nice to get out and be pampered! SIL informed me that DH's Auntie starts 10 rounds of radiation therapy today, her stroke has done lots of damage and she is getting more and more confused. So sad!! Please send lots of good vibes out our way for her!!

Good morning, ladies. Another day of not feeling well. It feels like forever. The foggy head is driving me crazy. I have to be so careful with my desk job b/c I find myself hearing but typing something different and have to keep correcting myself. Also yesterday I got all muddled, trying to find a file and it took all afternoon to track it down. If I'm being optimistic, maybe....I'm coughing and blowing my nose just a little less this morning. I went for my blood work yesterday and had made the appt online (the first time I had ever done that) and wow...what a difference. I walked in, went to the desk to ask if I need a number like usual, but she said no, if I've re-booked online, I can just go on in back and sit down for my blood work. I was out of there in five minutes. No matter what time of day I go, waiting is always at least 30-60 minutes, if not longer. From now on, online booking it is!

I'm going to pick up Ava in a few hrs. Her owner is working late today so she can come spend the day with us. She will tire Taz out with her constant playtime. She is relentless, chasing Taz all over the house, shoving toys at him and wanting to wrestle. which is hysterical to watch, a 110 lb and 25 lb dog wrestling lol. Taz just jumps all over her like he's on a trampoline. He jumped higher yesterday than I've ever seen him do before and did a flip in the air, while catching a ball, I'd say about 6'. Good thing he doesn't do that over the fence in the yard.

Chris - pls take it easy today. Let your body relax and recuperate. Do you color all your hair or streak? I like streaks b/c the regrowth looks nicer. I'm due to get mine done soon too. I like to get some warm streaks put in mine.

Nancy - Glad your DH's limp is getting better. I'm happy for the Cubs fans too. I think its the first win since around 1910 or something. About dog breeds, yes, it helps to know what kind of dog traits each breed has. Dogs have their own personalities and quirks but they all have some instinct/mannerisms particular to their breed, which helps in understanding them.

A Taz funny from last night....I was working late in my office downstairs, the bell rings on the kitchen door which is there for Taz to ring if he wants to go outside. The little bugger learned long ago that ringing that bell gets us to come to the door and see what he wants and mostly it is me who comes to see as I'm home more and just more attentive to his needs than Darrell is. So we know he rings the bell for other reasons than going outside to the bathroom. so, he rings the bell, my hubs goes to the kitchen, Taz is standing at the door, so he opens the door for him. He doesn't move. Darrell sees that the water bowl is full (which is sometimes a reason he rings the bell) so that's not it. Then Taz walks to the top of the stairs, looking down. I come out of my office and walk up the stairs, Taz excitedly starts jumping and flopping all over me, leading me into the LR, to play, grabbing toys. So after two minutes I go back downstairs to work some more. Guess what? He rang the bell 3 more times over the next half hour to get me to come upstairs and play LOL. He is too darn smart (and spoiled) LOL.

I'd better go get some work done before I go get Ava for the day. I'm out of here now, ladies. Have a wonderful day.

Trudy - we're cross-posting again.

Prayers for your DHs aunt. What a sad situation.

Enjoy your easy day and fingers are crossed that it remains clear. I'm sick of the rain.

As for my sickness...no end in sight. ugh. Each morning I get up hoping that this will be the day my head feels clear and my energy is back. Nope. Not yet. I just keep pushing along and am so happy to sink into my chair at night and do nothing. I look at the computer in the LR but just don't have the energy to turn it on and do anything with it. Maybe over the wkend I'll perk up. Hope so.

Anyway, just waving and saying good morning.

Somehow things just kept getting in the way and I never got to post here earlier. Thanks all for the commiseration on the World Series loss. One thing we enjoyed today was long talk with BIL whose B'day was yesterday. I just posted a LO of his cat who sure doesn't like us.

Chris! Take it easier, OK? Yea, probably not. Little nuisances like the attic steps just get so wearying, don't they. Well, make F-W stuff might feel good, hope so.

Nancy, Luther sure is a character. Glad someone noticed the new glasses and hope they're an improvement. Good luck with the training.

Trudy, so sorry the neighbors have crept into your dream. What a bummer! Getting your hair done and swimming could relieve some stress. If not, think about your week in Mexico. Sending good vibes to the auntie. Must be so hard for her and everyone.

Rae, please feel better! Though it's a tough time, glad the dogs can be some entertainment.
