I am so happy that I was able to get outside a bit yesterday. It turned out to be a glorious day. I was able to move a bunch of plants and rip out tons of lilies of the valley. Scott moved the blueberry bushes from the patio planter to the side of the house that we have been clearing out the last few days. He cut down a bunch of vines, weeds, and dead branches. It looks so nice over there now. he doesn't think that the bushes will produce any berries this year but hopefully, he can get some next summer before the birds snag them all. We still didn't get the tomatoes in but maybe today if the rain holds off.

Gary cooked (again-- 3 nights in a row!) chicken sort-of saltimbocca. No ham/prosciutto but lots of sage and cheese and spinach. After dinner, we played MarioKart. OMG, I am so bad and I am playing against the kids who play on a regular basis, and Gary is so used to arcade and video games. They have never been my thing. I came in 12th place every time except for one. I was losing against the fake Wii competitors!:doh: I am not competitive in this so I don't care that I lose but I wish I could play well enough that I could enjoy losing hahaha!!

I don't have too much happening today, I want to scrap a bit-- I started a page for a June Challenge yesterday but it still needs a bit of work.

Trudy- bet you enjoyed the day with that wonderful weather too. And I really hope that the boys were able to get into the pool.
You are really cruising along with the painting, how much more do you have to do? Did you get to take a break and but some plants?
Scott was invited yesterday to his best friend's house for an outside hang-out. He decided he really didn't want to go. He saw them all last week outside for his b-day and he doesn't have much of anything new to say. Not like you can ask how your day at work is going!
I would be devastated if I lost my wedding/engagement rings. I haven't worn them in years but I would be sad if they were gone. What luck to find yours!

Jean- that was the exact same weather we had here. It was warm in the sun, but not too ho while I was digging and weeding. I was sweaty and covered in dirt- but not uncomfortably so. (My mom would be cringing if she saw me :fear: ound: )
I think I am going to see if I can get a basil "plant" for the produce dept of the supermarket. They sell some with the roots and I have had luck planting them. Not as good as a potted plant but better than nothing. Thx for the hugs for both kids!
I can read ebooks and I have the option with my library but at night when I am bed, I still find a "real" book preferable. My friend borrowed a book from me yesterday and said that she thought that the local library should do curbside. Place holds on the books, and come pick them up outside when they are in. It isn't a bad idea.

Kay- You are having such a crazy time trying to get your meds, but I am happy that you did. I hope that the coughing gets better quickly and the new meds work great.

hahaha! I like that-- reverse sewing! I will try to explain to her what tripped you up and see if that helps.

Felis- Don't worry about your English being rusty. Ours is too! We have been noticing that when we talk or debate at dinner, we have a hard time getting the correct words out We all had that issue when our Lyme was bad but this we all seem to feel is from not talking to other people as much.
It is nice to be thought of, for living close to NYC. I wonder when I will get back in there again. Not for a long time, I am sure. Sorry that the book isn't grabbing your interest.
I am glad that my chatty enough helps you!! I worry too that I tend to overshare. But nothing that I share is hackable. And it is all part of who I am, the good, the bad, the ugly. I posted a metal health thread here with my background in my personal story. I always feel that if I can help that one person feel a bit better it is worth it. Americans, in general, tend to be over-sharers too.

That is a great idea about looking for plants at the Farmer's market. My town has a very small one that opens next week. I will have to take a look there.

Morning... woke up again at 4 AM... still coughing. Read that it could take from a week to a month or so for the cough to go away once I was off of the ACE inhibitors. The good news is that the new meds are holding the BP where it should be. Yes, Chris... I am so happy to finally have the new meds after all the hassle to get it.

Got to see a couple of photos of Grandson Joe holding his new son. But the baby was wrapped up so much we couldn't really see much of him... except he is long! Both his mom and dad are over 6' tall, so not surprised. They will be home by this weekend so hope to see a few more photos of him then.

Chris, I can't claim credit for the "reverse sewing"... when I was teaching my Red Hat sisters how to sew, one of the gals had to do a lot of ripping out... she coined the phrase "reverse sewing" as she said you couldn't be a good seamstress until you master the art of "reverse sewing". To help Cait... if she is going to add the nose wire pocket - have her go over to the directions to Type C on page 11. BTW, hope you can find some potted Basil at the grocery store. Glad Scott helped you with cleaning and pruning and planting some of the plants and yard work.

I have got to get out and pull some weeds in my front yard. The weed-be-gone spray I used didn't kill them all - so guess it is time for hand-pulling the ones that didn't die. I need to get out and do that is a few minutes - before it gets too hot. Heading back up into the 90's again. CYl

good morning - missed yesterday as I was talking with my sister and then I got sucked into Downton Abbey. I had stopped for a while but I really want to see how it ends. Had a nice evening walk. It was more humid but seemed cooler as there was a nice breeze. It seems that everyone is out on bikes. I love it. Good exercise and good for environment. Tonight my girlfriends and I are having a zoom chat. Should be interesting and fun. My DH has started getting all his ducks in a row for his upcoming surgery. He went to see the doctor yesterday and he had to wait in his car, call them and then they came and got him. This morning off to wellness and EKG testing. He will have to have a Covid test and be in quarantine for 4 days before surgery. I am glad they are being so careful. Makes me very grateful that mine knees were done before this Covid quarantine.

Chris glad you got out yesterday. It was a great day. Glad you got some plants and sounds like Scott is enjoying moving the bushes. I am sure Cait will figure out the sewing instructions. I remember my mom who was a great seamstress and she would sometimes question what those McCalls instructions wanted her to do. How sweet your Gary is doing the cooking. That is nice.

Trudy bet the walk was so fun! So how did social distancing go? Do you all have to wear masks? Hope the pool is fixed for the kids. We need to get one for Luther. He is one warm dog. But luckily we have a fan that we can blow his way. That was an amazing story of just finding your ring on the driveway after the snows melted.

Kay wow What a hassle on the prescriptions. Glad it is straightened out. Congrats on the new great-grandchild. It is always so fun to read about happy things.

Jean I always wonder what gets lost in the wash. Glad that the ring was found. Such a fun surprise. I watched the Genetic Detective and it was good but I agree they did not show how she did the matching - I guess maybe she does not want to give away too much of her process. I liked seeing the matching of the markers on the DNA match up. I did lots of DNA sequencing so fun to see that again. My DH and I listened to a podcast about 3 people found in the woods in Maine that for decades were not able to be identified and how in the end with DNA and genealogy they found a serial killer. Looking forward to next week's show. How cool you actually saw CeCe live.

Felis I think you English is so good. So much better than any second language I could try. don't worry about not like the book. Not every book is meant for every reader which is a good thing.

Well, didn't last long pulling the weeds. Was about finished when I leaned over to get one and the next thing I knew was I was laying flat on my back! Thank goodness I went over onto the back as the yard is all rock and that would have hurt worse if I went down face forward. Took me a couple of minutes to feel like I could try to stand up. Don't think I hurt anything but it sure shook me up. So... that is the end of my trying to do the yard work. Think I should seriously think about hiring it done from now on. Son-in-law was doing it for me but now has a bad back so he can't work at it very long either.

Good afternoon girls!
So lazy day for me, it's raining again, and this makes me sleepy today. I have few clean tasks that needs open windows and also can't gardening, so I did mostly the basic cleaning.
Jeannette gives me a great idea in other thread and I'm wondering:
How your quarantine projects gone?
I was planned to learn make amigurumi, but I found crocheting too complicated. Then get back to knitting, but unfortunately found my hobby cabinet very poor loaded. I was able to knit only 1/3 of something that was planned to be scarf, then I hoped to finish at least as neck heater as I saw very cute model at Nikki Reeds' photo. But nope, it's too short, and I have no idea where the other part of this yarn is gone?! So I get back to very old project for spring hat with thin yarn, and dantela model, but I'm not much happy from the results to the moment. I didn't make anything productive these 3 months, and now when here we start feels like life is almost get back to normal, I'm a little bit disappointed from myself.


Chris, that's why we don't play scrabble anymore, I become extremely grumpy if I'm not the winner. LOL. And I am too so happy that you was able to get outside yesterday! Hope the good weather to continue for you! Oh, your boys are so gently these days one cook other plant for you, sounds awesome!

Nancy, did Luther likes the water? I still have this dog bath tub for yard, which stay unused. Oh wait, actually cats use it to make them shadow in very sunny days. :nod: Enjoy your zoom chat!

Kay, I hope you'll feel better quick! Be careful, girl! I really hate how they can force you to work on your yard when you don't want it! I mean I can left mine as jungle for months, before to going in mood. Actually to get gardener will be very helpful for some neighbor's teen boy that need income in these hard times, and will be better for your budget than professional one.
