Guess what? Its Happy Birthday Lisa (aka dlhoffer) today!

You know how there seems to be certain periods in your life where *everything* breaks? Last week it was cell phones, the week before it was the water heater breaking and car getting hit. This week it has been our garbage can (technically not broken, but not usable for sure with Mama thinking it makes a great toy for the bear cubs).....and.......... my photo printer. I *just* used it on Sunday, and now- there is no power to it. All of the cords/power strips are in.... just one of those things I guess. grrrr. Its old in "tech-age" probably 7-8 years old? But still!!!!! I am going to pull it out, and see if there is anything I can do to revive it.
Gah!!!!

Then lasy night my mom and I got into a fight. My MIL invited us and her and my dad and Gary's brother's family to their house Ftaher's Day, which leaves my brother alone since my SIL's father passed a few years ago. My mom started to get all defensive with me that my brother was generous enough to invite my IL's to his family functions..... like I have any power over who MIL invites. :( I told her to not get all riled up at me (yeah, I was snotty after trying to explain nicely at first that MIL probably didn't even realize that my brother would be alone then) and she hung up on me. This is a recurring theme and I just did NOT have the energy for it yesterday. So now I feel crappy but I don't want to keep playing into this. My mom and I are supposed to be meeting for lunch tomorrow...guess we'll see what happens.:mmph:

I heard from Cait a couple of times yesterday- as much as I hate them, I love cell phones/texting for my kids. It was great to know she made it to DC and was having fun. I texted her a picture of Bunny so she wouldn't miss the monster too much. (Bunny is a NZ White Rabbit and has to be about 15 lbs-- she is HUGE!!!!!!)

Trudy-- that is great news!!! You must be so excited to have DD for a month!!!!!! I hope that DS can make it home too. I know how much it means to my mom when both of her kids are together. (and we live close! LOL)
I would love to see you too! Sadly Ontario is 6? hours or so from me. But we would be close than we are now, and who know what will happen? Maybe I'll be rich and famous and have my own private jet by then :plane: Then we can go all over the world!!!

Kristy- did you survive the dentist? Did the dentist survive too?? LOL

Eva- hope that you are feeling better today. If not, (either way, really) I am sending hugs to you~~~~~

Laurie- Good luck today at the vet.

Nana- good for you to book your vacation!!! JUst a change of scenery will be great!! (Take me toooooo!!!)

I am better today, thanks. Needed a "pity me day" to get back on track. DS has been great since the meeting. Turned of his puter and got to bed in decent time, and gotten up in the morning. Seeking more contact with us. In a way - the meeting might have been an eye-opener/wake up call for him? When we walked home from the meeting, I told him how it was with me and Facebook, before I closed my account. How addicted I was too it, but that I now have a more "normal" relationship to internet. I can actually not turn on the computer for an entire day, without feeling bad. Well, only time will tell if he can break the habit. I've told him that we know it's HARD to break an addiction. I've been a smoker - tell me about addiction! When you think an ashtray smells good ... you know you're in too deep LOL

Plans for today: meet up with DH when his work day is over. I have a packet to get at the store. We've ordered the entire Sopranos on DVD. (This is about your family, right, Chris? Didn't you say you had Italian roots? LOL) None of us have seen a minute of the show, but I saw on another show that David Lynch think Sopranos is one of the best TV shows ever. All the recommendation I need.

Also: 1st day of trying to cut down on carbs. Yvon has inspired me. I totally NEED to loose weight. I'm 81 kg (180 lb). Might not sound very much ... but I'm not a tall person LOL 1.57 m (I think that's 5.1) My BMI (Body Mass Index) is 33 - that's obesity. And ... all my fat is in the wrong place - the stomach. (In case you didn't know - this is the "dangerous" place to store fat. If you store it on more "femine" parts like the hips and boobs, it's not as dangerous in concern of heart problems and other health issues.)

Oprah once said something in the line of if you ever want to know anything about weight loss, healthy food and such - don't ask a slim person - ask the fat person - she knows it all. She's so right there!

Temptations this Thursday: CARBS!!!
 
morning all - filled the bird feeders so that my flying friends can entertain me. Moved the vet appt to Sat when MMG can be here as DS only needs help to move stuff home, not to DC- doggy is acting better, but still hanging by my side, I did not want to make decisions on my own, so I have prolonged it, but still feel terrible. Okay off to do laundry, eat and replan my day!
 
Eva, i'm 5'2" and 170 lbs, AND i eat almost NO carbs because of diabetes. i have no idea why i'm not a stick! i guess because i've been able to discover all the Low Carb stuff available on the market these days and put it in my mouth a lot.... good luck. i WISH i could make a dent in my blubber!

Trudy, lucky you to have so much time with your daughter! i doubt i'll ever have ANY time with mine in the days ahead.

Chris, family feuds bite. the hanging up thing always got me. i think my mom did that once to me, but then she apoliogized. she wasn't good with conflict. she always wanted everything to be OK all around her. on the other hand, if i ever hang up on a person, it's a literal severing. as in "never again." i don't think i've ever done that yet. but i guess it's only a matter of time.

Nana, have a ball at Dollywood! i've never been there. take lots of pix and make some pages so i can see what it ooks like.

Laurie, hope things go OK with your pooch.

Kristy, what a BRAVE mom you are to do that marathon dentist thing!

my trip to the zoo didn't work out yesterday. i drove there and discovered that most of the parkig lot was already FULL at 10 a.m. lots of school buses and ladies with strollers. not what i had in mind for a leisurely stroll with my camera. (what an old curmudgeon i am.) so...i didn't even get out of the car. just made a U-turn and headed for the damned MALL instead to walk around. i don't understand HOW my city, after losing almost HALF it's population over my lifetime, can be even more crowded NOW than it was 20 years ago!! we have a great amusement park (Kennywood)in one of the suburbs where i used to take my son when he was little. we'd just decide to go that morning and head on over to ride a few rides and just walk around. NOW it's like going to Disneyworld during High Season. WAAAHHH!!!

i think i need to live in Montana or something.

oh, well. have an appointment here with a company who makes plastic (this sounds ugly...)railings and pillars to see how much it would cost to replace the old wooden ones on our front porch. the cost will probably give me a heart attack. i'm trying to get our house "old people" ready, since i doubt my husband will EVER want to move somewhere and i don't want to be thinking of replacing stuff when he's retired and not in the mood to be building and replacing things.

As for you Mom...well she is your Mom...you know how that goes...no matter how many fusses..it always works out. Don't fret over the invitation list by your MIL..do what your heart says and it will be fine.
And yes...I get the whole "it's my time for things to go wrong" ora!!!
if you need to get to a new printer...you can get one like mine...it's not very expensive, the ink is not expensive and it prints great!!! I need to go look at the model but it's a Kodak

Eva...sweetie.....I have lots of pity days!! :laugh: if no one else will take pity on me..gotta do it myself!! :laugh: I hope that the wake up call works....I have a family full of addiction problems....including my daughter. It doesn't matter what the addiction is...it's hard!! (((HUGS))) for you to sweetie!! Good for you for cutting the carbs.....not sure exactly WHAT I would eat if I did....I am so bad...I eat so unhealthy!! and this would be why I am about 35 lbs overweight now!! Maybe one day I will get motivated....BUT VERY PROUD OF YOU SWEETIE!!

Phylis....HAHA!! I would have done the exact same thing...saw the parking lot and all the school buses...I would have left!!! I have done that many times at places!! If it's not going to be relaxing and that was what you were after.....well....
OOH I have heard of Kennywood.....:laugh: and yes...I will take lots of photos....I usually do....my poor family thinks I am nuts!! They have to indulge me though!!

well..if you saw on FB last night...you know already...my little man Cameran got the game ball last night for having an AWESOME game....he played 2nd base and WOW he was on fire!!! SO PROUD OF HIM....Straight A's all year, Reading over 2000 minutes during the school year...excellent attendance record and now the game ball......WHAT WILL HE DO TODAY??? got a feeling it may be downhill today...:laugh: He is rowdy and overly excited about school being done.
Poor Jesse got in trouble yesterday (though I was not calling him poor Jesse yesterday....I WAS FURIOUS)...he got a sharpie marker yesterday and wrote all over the neighbor's deck with it...UUGGHH...Mike will be off to Lowe's today to see what to clean it with!!!


Okay..gotta run....sorry for the book!!

Chris - I'm with Nana... big :hug: to you today! It must be so hard to have your mom hang up on you! I'm sure she will regret it and call you back to apologize!! Grrr on everything going wrong for you lately, but it does seem to happen that way doesn't it! I am waiting for everything to crash on me soon too. I have had all my techy stuff for a while now and it should start falling apart very shortly!! Glad that Cait has arrived safely to DC and is having a great time! I would love to see Washington! I know that I would be still very far away from you in Ontario, but would love to cross over to see New York one day and perhaps meet up then? Would I have to pass through your neck of the woods to get there? I am not familiar with your state and will have to check out a map LOL!

Eva - glad that you are feeling better today and that your son is also doing well today! Hopefully this trend will continue!! Yes cigarette smoking is a very hard addiction to give up, I smoked for years too and it was the hardest thing to quit!! But the best thing I ever did!!

Laurie - Praying that you don't have to make a sad decision about your pooch!!

Phylis - Awww, what a shame about the zoo!! Seems everywhere is getting more crowded these days! It sucks when you have something that you really wanted to do and then can't enjoy it! Hopefully it will be quieter at the zoo soon! At least you got your walk in around the mall. I truly wish that you and your daughter could reconcile your differences!! It would be so great if you could spend some wonderful days together!! :hug: to you sweetie I wish I could change things for you!! Hope that the plastic man doesn't give you a heart attack with his quote!! Your hubby is a lucky man to have you taking care of the important stuff!!

Nana Linda - Woohoo Cameron!! What a great kid!! I will have to go check your facebook page! Hope your MG finds something to get the black marker off your neighbor's deck...boys will be boys!! I am sure it was not funny at the time, but in years to come, you can tease him about it!! When my Jason was very little (five or six) him and his BFF thought they would do a favor for our neighbor and fill up the gas tank on his riding lawn mower, so they both peed into the gas tank :eek2: I got back at him by telling that tale to everyone at his wedding :becky: Bet you can't wait to get to Dollywood, like Chris says... a change of scenery is always a good thing!!

Well off to get something to eat and then headed to work for a few hrs. Hope everyone's day is great :wave:

I can't wait for the other kids to start playing sports!!! The first few years are really the cutest....and once it gets to be a bit more serious, they don't seem to have as much fun....so I have three more to go through...I HOPE!!!

my day:

woke up at 6am
went to work at 10am
came home for lunch real quick at 1230pm
went back to work at 1245pm
didnt come home again til about 330pm
went to help wrestle a pig at 430pm
babysitting two little kids til 11pm
and tomorrow i get to help wrestle a pig again LOL

lol yeah...i was helping them try to corner her to give her some antibiotics cause she is sick...she was not a happy piggy after that!! but it will make her better hopefully and we get to do it again in the AM...shes really gonna be ticked off after another round of this LMAO
