The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
The heat wave broke and the temps will be much cooler than yesterday. Today is in the upper 70s, maybe 80° and tomorrow will be around 70°. Isn't that bonkers?
I was inside pretty much the entire day yesterday so I didn't feel the heat all that much. I checked on the plants in the buckets, fertilized and watered them, and I think that was it. All of the plants I started from seeds are still very scraggly. There are some flowers on the squash and the cucumbers are starting to climb. But the tomatoes-- pfft. I should have started them sooner but this spring, everything was out of whack between the weather and my foot.
Well, at least my foot is *finally* starting to feel better. It went from the broken bone hurting, to my ankle being messed up. Then it was the tendons on the top of my foot, and finally (hopefully this is the last stage LOL), my flat arch is dealing with the weird gait and limping. This is good since I need to be able to get around the trails for summer camp and field trips soon.

The woman who was interviewed yesterday was so amazing and she got hired as an educator *and* is going to be a Weis Partner. That means she will work under the Weis umbrella but can also run her programs there as a Partner. She does sound healing (Himalayan Sound Bowls) and Restorative Yoga plus a whole bunch of other things. I'm looking forward to learning more from her. Plus she has attended lots of women's retreats and has hosted mini 1-day retreats, which is one of the things Weis wants to start doing. I am freaking out that they want me to be part of that. In a good way, a very good way! I was planning on leaving right after the interview but the Director invited me to a working lunch with the other two FT staff. We went to a local restaurant and chatted about plans for the summer, updates on staffing, and some longer-term goals.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised at this point but I am still in awe that they include me in this. I still feel very new with a touch of impostor syndrome thrown in. :p They want me to help train some of the new staff, especially when it comes to working with the younger kids. And while I think I am butting in too much when they lead the training, they want me to do that and appreciate my input. By the time I got in my car, I was shocked that my head fit! LOL!
When I got home, I gave a run-down to Gary of the interview and meeting and he made me so happy when he said how proud he was that I found my perfect job. Around dinner time, I realized that I left out another part of the meeting-- I am getting an extra raise! Everyone gets one in January but a few of us are getting another in July. I was cracking up that I was all excited and rambling about the job stuff, that I completely forgot about the pay raise. :rotfl:
We were warned that it was small-- we are a non-profit and work in the red many months-- but I guess the Trustees wanted to recognize the hard work we all do. :heartpumppink:

(Did I ever tell you how much I love my job? No?? :floorlaugh: )

I am going to visit my parents today and Scott is coming for dinner tonight. He is going to help me get some of the stuff out of the attic that I'll bring to the cabin tomorrow.

HAGD!!
:grouphugyay:

@faerywings Congrats for being such an important part of the Weiss family!!! I loved my job at the fabric store so I really understand how happy you are. All the Lady O's are happy for you too I am sure. Looks like everything is working out for you and bonus your ankle/foot is finally better.

I guess I brought too much Florida weather up here...today is is raining and much cooler. It was actually hotter here in CT than in FL the last few days.

Yesterday we went to lunch with Jay's sister and hubby...I was so good I had a crab and cucumber salad that was so delicious. We had a great time catching up so it was a great day. When we got back here we did some garden clean up for Mike. Then out to dinner to meet our dear friends another great conversation and fabulous fresh swordfish from Block Island RI>When we got back here Mike, Sarah and Reed were loading up for the camping trip to the race track. Then a fire that Reed built..this time no diesel fuel...I am trying to teach him the Girls Scout fire methods not his fathers method..

I helped Sarah feed the animals today...I sorta miss this life but the demands of animals are restrictive.
We like to just go and do what we want when we want.
Tonight we are going to watch the "Hauler" parade bringing the Nascar vehicles to the racetrack. I guess it will be fun...photo op at the least!

Quick check in here! This is VBS at work here too, so long, fulfilling days!
@faerywings I'm so sorry to read about Mouse. Big hugs to Caitlyn and all of you. That's never easy.
Doesn't it make you happy when you love your job? Is Belle teaching VBS or does she have her regular school kids for the summer?
Nope, that decision is one of the hardest we make as animal lovers. And it never gets easier. :(
Good luck with the phone and photos. It's easy to do that with Android but the catch is the limited free storage. I am always getting the alerts that mine is almost full and I don't want to/can't afford the subscription to get more space.
With everything that is "breaking" in our house, I for sure pray everyone's AC keeps on keeping on in this crazy heat wave!
Praying Caitlyn and the family are doing better the day after! :hug4:
Did I complain about our BR window AC last month, the one that had a recall on it? We decided to take the refund option over the repair offer. It was already several years old and didn't want to mess around with it. Gary ordered a new one and we *hate* it. It's loud and obnoxious and the buttons/remote are not set up very user-friendly.
But nothing we can do about that. The insult to injury part is that we had to cut the electric cord to verify that before we could apply for the refund (Which didn't cover the cost of the new AC, mind you! :( ). Gary found out that we had to pay to get the freon removed before the garbage would take it. He put it at the curb and some random person grabbed it on Monday. Yesterday, I got an email from the electric company that they are accepting old ACs and will *pay* you $50 each.
:rollingpin1:

Soooo annoying!

Anyway, I am blessed that we have AC because there are plenty of people who don't.

@BoatLady excellent idea about using the cable to transfer photos! TFS!

It was too hot to cook yesterday so when I was at the supermarket yesterday afternoon and smelled the fried chicken I just gave up and bought a bucket. The since it was over 100° on the deck I just set it out there to keep warm until dinner time. Health department would not approve, I’m sure, but we are both still alive this morning.
LOL! It can't be much different than leaving the chicken underneath the warming lights in a restaurant. Glad that you lived through the experience ;)
My daughter arrives tonight with our 2 granddaughters, to start “grandma and grandpa summer camp”. Here’s that there won’t be thunderstorms canceling that last little flight from Dulles to Charlottesville, or we’ll have to drive up there to pick them up. Daughter goes home early Monday leaving us the kids.
Have a wonderful time!! I hope the kids adapt to the heat quickly.
@faerywings Putting an animal down is such a hard thing for us to do but for them it's a kindness-no more suffering. There are humans who need this kindness too.
ITA. I wish that it were more widely accepted as a sign of love and compassion under those circumstances.

I went to breakfast with oldest grandson yesterday...so weird to say "meet you there", seem like he was just little and I had to pick him up. Then Hubby and I did some shopping Super hot here yesterday 90's so I defrosted the freezer in the trailer ..sadly they do not have frost free ones. It was nice to work with the cold/ ice getting that job done. :cheer:I also did an inventory of what is in the freezer.Note- I did take my time--it was cool!!!
That's so funny about your grandson, how can they be getting older when we all stay the same age? *G*
What a perfect day to work on the freezer.
This morning I did the chores with Sarah so I know what to do with the animals- goats, sheep, pigs and chicken when they go camping at the race track this weekend. They got pit passes too so grandson is over the top excited. Today we are meeting Jay's sister and BIL for lunch...I'm having salad. Then tonight we are meeting our best CT friends for dinner...OMG all we are doing is eating and partying here.
That is so fun (I am ignoring the part when you said that you had bacon that DS raised :lalala: :D )
Eating and partying is exactly what you should be doing ♥

Just got a call that DD and SIL they will be closing on the new house on Friday.

:woohoo:

@faerywings Chris, sorry for the sad news. ANY kind of pet except snake or spider is worthy of grief and memory. Hugs.
Your friend's move is coming up soon... Hugs for that too. I just had to part with a life long friend- my maid of honor- last week due to irreconcilable differences. We really tried to find common ground. But our beliefs and practices are polar opposites. She has changed drastically. It was a hard week last week. I am glad you and your friend will remain intact!
I won't tell you how sad we were when Scott's spider and snakes died then :D
I'm so sorry that you and your friend had to part ways. :brokenheart:

Oh! DD is BRINGING ME PISTACHIO MUFFINS!!!! :dancingbfly: She is visiting in the upstate today and headed here in the evening with mufffffiiiiinnnnnssssss!!!! dance3 dance3 :giggle4:
What are you more excited about? DD or the muffins? :lol23:

Still have a couple to go. Loving the Color Play colors/theme this month... so soft and cool. Helps when the temps are so hot! :giggle4: Yesterday was not quite so hot (87*F) but muggy with high humidify even before the rain came in. Reminded me of weather when we lived in Corpus Christi, TX... Of course, the high humidity set off the aches and pains in the back and feet. Will have the same for the next few days. We need the rain so I try not to complain too much.
Aren't the CPs so soothing? I only had time to make one LO so far. I was going to do that yesterday but ran out of time. Maybe when I get home today.
My knees and hands have been stiff for the last few days I hope it is just the heat and humidity. Hope you are feeling much better too

Sorry I had to post before I got to Tracy (and proofread that but isn't as important as Tracy is :) )

Today was eventful. As I mentioned yesterday, I got the oil changed and tires rotated. Well, 1/4 the way to Costco it was making a rhythmic "ding/ting" sound. Potty stop 1/2 way to Costco, checked wheels/lugnuts, all looked good on passenger side where hubs heard the noise. Make it another few (25) miles down the road. Shimmy steering wheel, LOUD sound and it was all across the front. Sounded like something was unbalanced, like a thrown weight. Immediately stopped. Checked the lug nuts on front left tire, they were ALL loose!!!
OMG!!!!!!!! I imagine that on AK highways, you are not puttering along at 50 mph. And then the mess with the truck and the extra hours in the car... Yikes. I am glad that you made it home in one piece. Are you stiff from sitting so long? Take it easy and move gently today!

Don't know if anyone heard on the news outside of the NY Metro area, but one of the interstates near me has been buckling b/c of the heat the last two days. Poor Cait got stuck in traffic on her way home last night where the road she takes to get home got backed up at the ramp to Rt 287.
Traffic stinks!

Time to get into the shower--got off the phone with Scott -- he's coming with me to visit my parents and I'm picking him on on the way :)

What a fiasco with the AC unit! I hope you get used to the "noise" and soon don't even notice it!

Good Morning,
Quick in and out this morning. I'm heading to my daughter's and we will be going out to breakfast and then to Save-a-Buck's. Then we will probably go back to her house and play some Qwirkle. We will play Rummikub if Abby wants to play as she doesn't like Qwirkle.

I've been working on my Pennsylvania pages but my PSE has been acting up, so I had to shut it down. I may end up having to invest in an upgrade or try to reinstall it from the cloud. It is a couple of years old. I got it new in 2023. I'm assuming it has been updated since then. It gives me the hand to the face and the only thing I can do is save and exit. The "save for web" function quit working, too, even after shutting it down.

OK, that's it for me.
Have a great day and stay cool! @faerywings I hope our heatwave breaks today, too! We had the threat of severe thunderstorms last night but nothing happened! It was like walking into a sauna outside!

"Hey Y'all" ( as they say down here) Good Steaming morning to ya. 10:00 am 82 degrees/feels like 85. High actual 95, haven't heard the heat index forecast yet. According to the app, we are out of the heat wave at the moment.
@faerywings Congrats on the new door opening for you! We often underestimate ourselves, don't we- and it's good to see other's good perspectives of us. Your heatwave broke? There's HOPE! :D I get the air conditioner thing to the point of the noise and not liking it. When we moved here, our HVac unit was terrific, until it broke in the middle of summer and the owner put in a new one, which we guess was a less expensive one because it doesn't maintain heat or cool without fluctuation. But the whole refund thing you dealt with is nuts!!:spinningchair:
As to your question: I am most excited about a DD who thought of buying the muffins without me even thinking of it. Too Good!!!
The whole photo transfer thing- did you say it was an issue due to Android? I use the iCloud and my photos transfer to it automatically, where I easily download. (But you prob knew that already!!)
@BoatLady Racetrack, coastal, dinner, seafood- I definitely envy you lifestyle right now!! My kinda life!!! :pleasantry::playground:

@AK_Tracy OH MY!!! Thank GOD you all remained safe!!!:hug4:
And thankful for our senses- that alert us to dangers as well as beauty!

@vickyday My PSE is doing weird stuff too, but she is a granny- 2015 :thud:
The color "adjust hue/satuation" function is now messed up- I can't use that at all. I look at the upgrade offer every time I open, it fluctuates in price. Probably should just bite the bullet, but I have also been considering Creative Cloud, so...? Hmmm.

Well today, IF DD ever gets up, LOL ( LOTS of driving or her the past week- been to 5 states!) we might go to lunch. Or Dinner. BUT first, I eat a Pistachio Muffin!!!! :cucumber:dance3dance4
Not much variety here- so its always a dilemma. Sp for our time tomorrow for the 8 of us- nothing to do here- at all- truthfully- there isn't. No entertainment or activity within 90 miles. And after a week of work, DS and DIL are not that open to a 4 hours in the car for a few hours fun. Plus there's the weather. I CRAVE a fun time- so we are racking our brains to try to come up with something, LOL I'm not the type that likes to do something so that we said we did it. At least next Spring/Summer we will have LOADS to do!

:motorcycle::paddling::chocolate::popcorn1::dinner::guitar::wine4::cameraclick:

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Good afternoon!! Hopefully tomorrow I can say morning LOL Might not have to run out of the house asap and that will be nice.

That's so awesome!! I love that you are included. They know an asset when they have one and they treat you that way. You are a gold mine for them. And the kids love you and you make it fun!!! What is so hard to believe about them including you!!
:yourock::yourock::yourock:
I was cracking up that I was all excited and rambling about the job stuff, that I completely forgot about the pay raise. :rotfl:
That just shows that you are in the right job. When money comes second. Congrats on the raise.
Then a fire that Reed built..this time no diesel fuel...I am trying to teach him the Girls Scout fire methods not his fathers method..
:floorlaugh: Why must dads always show them how with fuel!!!! Must be a guy thing.
I am glad that you made it home in one piece. Are you stiff from sitting so long?
I am stiff and had to sit in the car again waiting on teens. Now I am home, feet up, not doing anything.
I got it new in 2023.
 I hope its a fluke and not a warning. Mine is 2023 too!!! It better last longer then 2 years. I wish they made things to last but ugh. I know technology changes fast but that doesn't mean ours should get temperamental. Hope you figure it out easily.
@AK_Tracy OH MY!!! Thank GOD you all remained safe!!!:hug4:

Yes! So thankful I listened to my car. We were teaching kid to drive last summer and I asked, cant you feel the car? Apparently that isn't normal. I've taken my car in so many times and told them right where the issue is and get asked, how can you tell. Well, I feel my car. The vibration and sounds and when its different, something wrong. I spend a tad too much time in my car so I do know it well. Kid told me I was crazy when I asked him to avoid pot holes. How ya suppose to do that without weaving all over. Well, know where your tires are and move over a little bit. Yeah like anyone knows where there tires are exactly. Yeah, most people do! Needless to say, I gave up and had dad teach him to drive. :giggle4:

Not much happening now that I am home. Feet up, surfing, and that's about it.

Creative cloud?? I'm still not sure I trust "the cloud!" Guess I need to check it out.
