Daily Ooos: Thursday, July 29

Happy Thursday to you all, dear Ooos!
I feel like I am staring at the screen here, not sure what to say. I am cold and feeling generally aggravated but I really don't want to focus on that.

Yesterday was one pretty chaotic mess of a day but it ended with a nice, casual dinner and movie. I had to tidy up the kitchen before I went to pick up the groceries and wow, do I have a *lot* of tea. I drink tea in the winter but why do I have so much?
After I got back, I made the peanut butter cake and frosting, and then the Vespa Buns (pretzels)
In the middle of all that, Scott was trying to figure out if he was even going to be home for dinner. Long story short, he was supposed to have a CT scan today but the office called him around lunch to tell him that he needed to pick up some prescription for contrast. Nothing like "last minute." We were all trying to figure out if how he or someone else can pick it up for him. The office is 45 minutes from here, he was at work, Cait was at the allergist's about 30 minutes from there, I was cooking, it was a mess of texts and phone calls while the kids were driving. I hate that. Gary got into a minor car accident while he was on that phone with me when the kids were babies and I hate that feeling when I think of it-ugh. Then the Dr calls back that they are still waiting for the insurance company to authorize the tests. They didn't authorize it until 3.30 and he decided it was best to reschedule.

The movie is so funny and the drinking game was really hard to keep up with so we didn't. We just drank when it was very obvious. Gary is on Tindamax and can't drink with that Rx, and he found it very "helpful" to remind the rest of us to drink. hahaha!!

I am assuming that you have seen or heard about Spaceballs to get the references, but if you haven't it really isn't that big of a deal. It's a spoof of Star Wars.
We threw out the Darth Vader helmet so Braxton didn't get dressed up.

Today I am running errands and I really would rather not but not like I have much of a choice. Still fighting with ACDSee. Still behind on scrapping and commenting. But I have cute dogs. That is my happy thought for today

@nancyr How did the Devils do with the free-agent signings? The middle of Sept is only around 6-7 weeks away. You are going to be so excited!
Any news on Shadow's blood work yet? I hope she is doing ok and that whatever it is can be easily treated. How old is she now? Give her some pets from me. I bet your friend's DDis going to love the mixtiles- they seem like such a neat concept.
We had a few storms overnight the other night but nothing too much. My poor plants are not happy. I will water the veggies but everything else is pretty droopy. Might have some big storms coming through this afternoon so I hope they perk back up but they don't get beaten down if the rain is too heavy. I don't ask for much, do I? Haha

@tanteva How many more days do you have for this run of work? two more this week I think? Then quiet again? I hope they continue to be just the right balance of busy but not too busy.
It would be better for the US to have higher gas prices if it would mean that people would be more willing to improve and use mass transit. I get it, it is nice being able to hop in your car and get around town cheaply but it is going to bite the entire world in the butt if we don't stop cooking the planet
So Rita stays home. *nods* How do you feel about snakes?

@bcgal00 I don't blame you one bit for getting a backup toy for Remi if it keeps her happy and active. That is fabulous that you found one that collapses too. She is a lucky girl to have you! Happy birthdays to Jen and D!
We have one very small dog park in town and it also has an area for small dogs, I should try taking my girls there at least and if a small dog wants in, we can head home.

@Cherylndesigns I'm sorry, I wasn't clear- I mean that the new car info was bad for you mentally. I hope that the police get LOTS of info and catch these people.
ACK!! What a crazy day, poor Asher and then the police and all of that!
You and Ava are quite the team.

Crud, I am running soooo late. I have been trying to get off of the computer at 8. It is now 9.

I'm working tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday. Then I think there's two days next week, but then I'm off for a little bit over a week. Then 2 days the week after that. And today I got an e-mail from the boss telling me she put me up for a shift the week after that. I'm slowly making myself indispensable at work LOL We'll see what she thinks after this week, I'm working together with her this weekend.

Today, I'm taking it easy. A bit scrapping and a bit knitting. Watched an episode of Irregulars on Netflix. I'm watching several shows at the same time now. It's like they all are ok, but noone really catches me ... you know to the level where you binge 14 episodes in a day. Probably a good thing, though I really miss being totally absorbed by a show.

Snakes are ok ... but I would have to chose between them and Urban ... so NOPE.

good morning - My NJ Devils did great in free agency. As we are not a cup contending team we have to pay more to get the best free agents but this time we did, Dougie Hamilton. But I think 9 mil for 7 years is pretty good. But luckily I think he will be a great asset to my defense. Also got a back up goalie. Now I hope we can get some more veteran scorers. Shadow is doing well so maybe it was just heat related. But we have her on antibiotics and probiotics. Luther seems tired. He did not even want to go on a short walk yesterday. It was not even that hot. Oh well. Got more pages done as I watched Olympics.

@faerywings Chris your photos of food look so yummy! Sounds fun with movie and drinking. Spaceballs is so funny. Poor Scott I feel like this is an on going thing with the CT and always having to reschedule. Hope he finally gets is done. I will call today about Shadow and she is 10+ years old which I don't think is that old for a cat. And I am excited for hockey!

@tanteva Eva glad the day went so well and now a day to enjoy your hobbies. I know what you mean about not having any binge worthy shows. The new season of Ted Lasso is out so I need to watch that but have been enjoying the Olympics. I did not think you would select snakes over Urban.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl it seems so strange to me to hear you just drive to Arkansas. I know the geography but I still think it seems to far. OMgosh that is too bad about hurling. Does he normally get car sick? Glad to hear that the policeman was there making sure you all were ok.

@bcgal00 Rae that is so cool that you have found a perfect toy for Remi. Luther really never did get into toys. The only toy he really love is an old vacuum cleaner he chases around. We were tempted to take it to doggie daycare while on vacation but we did not - lol. Glad your internet is working!

Hello all.

Quick in and out. Chris, @faerywings that food looks ahhhhhh-mazing!! What a cook/baker you are! I rarely go into the kitchen, Chuck won't let me (not really) but Asher has been here most of the day and all he wants to do is eat. I fixed him a grilled cheese (he had already gone to lunch before Ava brought him here). He came in with a big container of chocolate cake. So, he ate that, then drank 2 Sunny D's, a Diet Coke (can't tell his mom) some water, then a Canada Dry. Then he decided he wanted some Ramen Noodles. AND he wanted to eat them with chopsticks. Oh-Kay. I have some really gorgeous chopsticks from Japan - Chuck got them on one of his business trips. So, he wanted to show me his "skills" with chopsticks. Epic fail - Hahaha. "Give me a fork, please", he said. SO, I HAD to show him how to eat with chopsticks. I showed him MY skills. I ended up eating the whole big bowl of Ramen. I never eat much during the day, but when a kid wants food constantly, it's hard not to. He said, "Cici, you REALLY do know how to eat with chopsticks." He'll be asking for something here shortly, I'm sure. I started taking pictures of him eating with chopsticks, but the "production" didn't last very long. (Yes, Ava and I are quite the team!)

Nancy @nancyr Asher doesn't usually get motion sickness like he did this time. I think it was also from getting up very early, getting to the airport, then riding on the plane. I gave him the front seat and I got in the back for the rest of the trip home (after he got sick). I DO have bad motion sickness, but had taken my medication before Ava and I left home and took 2 more for the trip home.

There are only two major airport here, Nancy. The other one is in Tulsa. They're both about the same distance away. Just a little over an hour. We always had to drive well over an hour when we lived in Michigan. Detroit Metro was well over an hour away. We got so spoiled in Ft. Myers - there was an international airport right there! The Arkansas airport is JUST over the state line.

Ava had some time today, so she took Asher up to a place called Sparrow Hawk to hike. They went up a small mountain and then hiked back down. He loved it - it's super hot right now, so Ava didn't want to overdo it. She's so great to take time to spend with him. We're all going up to Adrienne's again tonight for dinner, then Asher is sleeping here. I told him he'd have the cat on the couch with him, but he likes cats, so he doesn't care. He's already said he wants to sleep in the living room.

I'd better get off of here - he keeps me on a "short leash" - he likes for me to sit with him while he plays on his phone. Braden is going to see if he can get his old PS4 to work on the big TV in our living room. Asher would LOVE that! He's going to the drag races with the guys Saturday. I'm not sure if we're all going or not, but he's super excited. Alyssa's boyfriend's family have their own drag racers and they're running Saturday! Her boyfriend asked Stephanie if he could take Asher in the drag racer if he went REAL slow and just drove around the garages - not out on the track. She's still "thinking about it". Rog is going to take him fishing too. We have that pond right here on our property and he's been stocking it.

That's about all of my excitement for the day. Waving to all and sending hugs.
