It's gonna be a great day! I just know it.

I am so full of energy (shocking, I know!!!!!) and excitement. Sofa delivery this morning and our neighbors are taking us out to dinner tonight. The only "bad" part is that I have to clean for my friend this morning and I would much rather stay home and work on scanning my cute baby pictures. There are very, very, very few pics of me as a baby. As I said, my parents weren't big on taking pictures and the albums weren't sorted chronologically but mostly by the person.

I don't know if I ever talked about how awful my memory is but I have *huge* chunks of nothing. One of the reasons that I don't want to go to any of our class reunions (My BFF is usually one of the organizers and she tries so hard to get me to go) is that I don't remember much of anyone. My brother's brain is a steel trap. He recalls everything, word-for-word conversations, TVs shows, vacations- everything. I wish he was there yesterday I know he could have filled out the stories behind the photos so much more.
But when I was looking at the pictures, I could remember some details. In one photo, I was wearing what I called my "backout dress" a halter top dress- I think I was around 5 yo? And I loved that dress. I remembered some of our vacations sitting on the dock of the lake, I remembered the chairs. and the owner's dog and how where we would play volleyball and hang out on the swings. It was really neat sitting there with my parents going over names of people and the years and I scribbled down as much info as I could on scraps of paper.

I'd better get going, I have a busy day ahead.
Love and hugs!

Good morning. We had a good day yesterday. We got our birdfeeder set up. After hearing Rae talk about feeding the birds each day, I just had to do it. We have moved the feeder up close to the lanai so any river rats thinking that they could eat would need to go across the entire back yard in the open. When they got there, the food is clean, so nothing on the ground. And it is “hot” so mammals don’t like it. (Birds don’t have tastebuds.)

No birds yet. There was the sweetest cardinal sitting on the neighbors’ roof, tweeting about something and moving gradually closer. But then Andie got up and had to go potty. She went out and came right back in because she wanted her treats. Nevertheless, the cardinal left and didn’t venture back.

I also needed a calendar for 2023 and was just about ready to go buy one when I remembered all of those calendars I ran across while I was organizing boxes. So I decided to make a calendar. That made me so happy. I just did a quick one. Took layouts that I had made already…didn’t put anyone’s pictures on their birthdays but I got it done and printed so that when we went to the Wild Bird store it was ready for pick up.

Then last night, I watched a show on digitizing genealogy records. It was not as hopeful as I had hoped, but it did help me realize how much I had accomplished with these photos. They said that Step 1 was to get them from all over your house so that they were all together. Step 2 was to sort them into groups. So I am through the first two steps. Step 3 is to preserve photos in safe materials. I did get most of the photos out of those old albums---but still have some work to do here. Step 4 is to scan all of the photos using a good quality scanner. And that is where it ends. I really want a much faster scanner but I’m struggling with justification of that much money. But I’m pretty happy with what I have accomplished so far this year.

Today, I’m trying to figure out more about the rings on my Apple watch. But that’s a story for another thread. It is going to hit 80° later today and so we may get some of that exercise by walking a beach.

Still no birds. The entire preserve is silent. I’ll be back for personals.

BTW- I decided to go the "wait and see" road about the Lyme stuff. Gary goes back in the months, me in 6. But I'll go with him in April and get more bloodwork done if she thinks that's the way to go. I email her to ask about the Calcium/Vit D supplements I take. I have to stay on top of calcium since I have osteopenia, but if the Vit D is 1. Not helping the one I am deficient in and /or 2. Making the other Vit D too high- well, I have no clue what to do next.

@LSlycord That is really neat that you saw the rocket launch right overhead. Gorgeous weather to be out on the lanai for coffee then and see that.-- and robins. I'm always going to be jealous of you for that :D
All of the interviews seem to be going great for you-- good luck!
I am really proud of Sydney, she is so on the ball.
I feel for Shaun. :( BTDT with Scott and Caitlyn. And to make things a little harder they went to both colleges together. They overlapped 1 year at community and 2 years at Ramapo. Cait always had it easier than Scott with school, with organization, and much more ambition. She only switched her career path once from Education to Psychology/Social Work. He was allllllllllllllllllll over the place. She always got really good grades, his grades were hit or miss, everything from As to Ds.
We told him the same thing- not to take a gap year because we knew he'd never go back, but to try stuff out, keep an open mind and take his time. Once he settled on Environmental Science, everything fell into place. I know that will happen for Shaun too. You know where to find me if you even want someone to listen, or brainstorm, or yell and vent.

@BrightEyes Please keep us posted on how you set up your folders of the scanned photos. I might have to copy some of your ideas since I have no clue how to best keep them organized.
BTW- are you near Albuquerque? I'm reading the crazy news about the guy shooting at the houses of his political opponents and that sounds scary!
Whoooo hoooo, you did fab on your errands!!
@bcgal00 *fingers crossed that you hear from the PC repair tech today*
I want to get my house organized. So darn much. I was in Target last week to look at new pillows and I had to walk past the baskets and stuff like that, I wanted to buy everything:p
Only Murders grew on me so hard! I love that show.

@taxed4ever Hope the weather is good for a hike today. Sounds like you were busy in the kitchen. hehe, I hate how much I rely on Amazon for everything. It sounds like an awful company to work for so I wish I didn't need to spend my money there. But it really has just about everything I need. It will be nice when your local store carries the paint supplies you use

@Cherylndesigns I am very jealous of you having Chuck. We got into a bad routine when he was really sick and it's hard to get out of now. Thanks for the screenshot, it has got the info I need to look for it.
I saw Lilach's kit and I have to get it but I won't have time to get a page done today :(

@vickyday As I was driving to my parents, I realized I gave you the wrong info-- my last name is stressed on the I syllable and Tos syllable -- felt you had to know that right way LOL
You had a great day with Ilene and her DD, how sweet to go to b-fast together.
Ugh, I feel your pain with the septic issues.

xoxo

@faerywings I believe that your energy and good mood is contagious! I am so happy that you got that time with your parents to go through photos. I am now anxiously waiting for those layouts of little Chris! I bet that your parents had so much fun as well. Great times. Thanks for the encouraging words about Shaun. Someday, he will find his thing. At least I hope. And it's good to hear the "been there done that" story with Scott and Cait because they sure do seem to be the forerunners to Shaun and Syd. Glad that you are taking the "let's wait and see" but that you will be back with Gary in three months.

@bcgal00 my fingers are crossed tight for some word about the computer today. I loved Murders in the Building. Both seasons and they were so good...I couldn't wait for the new seasons to drop. Of course, Steve Martin and Martin Short are just plain funny and have been since the 70's. My kids wanted to know why Selena Gomez would work with those old men! Obviously I have failed them! #dk

@BrightEyes you really got a lot done yesterday! I thought that my day was busy but I think you beat me. And, yes, you have learned the ° symbol with me!!! The fifth step that they said needed to be done is to consolidate all of the digital archives. I think that you have quite a method with that...I'm sure you will scan them magnificently. And have a system for finding them. I really do need to think through that part before I get started.

@vickyday I can't wait to hear which books they are and what you think. Glad that you had a fun day with Ilene.

@taxed4ever I have come to depend on Amazon so much. Ugh.... Hope that you and SIL Linda get a chance to get in a good walk today with blue skies. Sounds like you got stocked up on Keto baking yesterday!

@Cherylndesigns I have been reading about my Apple Watch and its rings so I'll be incorporating that too. Love that you live in such a nice place.

Ok, I need to get cleaned up. And now look up the HOA covenants because the neighbor has posted on our neighborhood FB page asking if people can have bird feeders since it's against the covenants to feed wild animals. What? Grr...

Have a good day all!

Morning, gals... feeling much better this morning after sleeping almost 10 hours! I guess my body really needed it. I will be cooking/freezing the squash today. Think I will grill pork chops to go along with that and an apple, banana and orange salad. Had one of the naval oranges for dessert last night... oh, so good! I remembered that I had an 'Orange peeler" tool (think it was from from Tupperware) and used it. I had forgotten how easy it was to peel the orange using it. Glad I remembered it as I ended up with 17 oranges from the 2 bags! I love fresh fruit so will be enjoying eating them.

Yes, Rio Rancho and Albuquerque are side by side in one large metropolitan area. My neighborhood is only 1/4 mile north of the Albuquerque city limits on the west side. Yes, we heard about that crazy guy who hired people to shoot at homes of political people. Most of them lived on the east side of town so none near us.

As to naming photo folders... because DH joined the navy and we moved around a lot, named many by location and years.
Here are a few that I have already set up: The Early Years (when we were dating and 1st years of marriage), Our Wedding, (Each of the kids) Weddings, Trips - (where and years), Christmas - where and years, Graduation - who, where and year, Family History - Hubby's family. The family History folders I have already set up are a mixture of photos of my family on both mom's and dad's sides and needs to be separated better. I will be setting up folders of Family History of Mom's family, FH of Dad's family, FH of Mom/Dad's dating, wedding and early marriage years. FH of my childhood - birth to marriage. FH of family reunions (one for each side of Mom/Dad family). I hope to tag the photos with who, where, year.

In looking through Mom's albums, many of the photos are small and some are faded and some are very dark. I am hoping I will be able to edit them so they are clearly seen. Many of these are from 1900 - 1940's. Those will be my focus to begin with.

A tip on scanning photos in.... my computer puts scanned photos in a folder named Scanned in Documents and they are named Scan1, Scan2. etc.. I have folders already named in the Pictures and transfer the photos to it. Important: I rename the photos in the folder right away - because if you scan more photos in and move them to that same folder, you will have photos with the same names - Scan1, Scan2. My computer will ask if I want to replace the photo with the new photo with the same name!! Note: I do not change the names while the photos are in the scanned folder - wait to change them when they are in the Picture folders where they belong or you may end up with the same name. Here is an example of how I tag photos: Kay - Flagstaff 4-1943 and Kay - Winslow 4-1943. That is who, where and when. BTW... I always save the original scanned photo - then I duplicate it and only edit a duplicate. After it is edited - I name it the same with " -edit " added to the tag. If I change the duplicate photo to b/w or sepia, I save it with the added '-b/w' or 'sepia' added to the tag. Like: Kay - Flagstaff 4-1943 -sepia. I do the same tagging if I extract an image.

Will be back later to do personals.

Morning ladies... just a quick in and out today as I need to get ready for our hike this morning. Its a clear blue sky, but that means its chilly out there too. Fresh snow on the mountain tops in the far distance, so pretty with the sun rise shining on them! I will have to pack my hand warmers and gloves! We decided to to to the Holt Creek hiking site, Linda has never been there before and its a beautiful place, not too hard of a hike either. We are both out of shape LOL. I spent the entire day in the kitchen, baking this and that, so never got a chance to work on my layout, hopefully I will this afternoon. Ok I just wanted to pop in and say good morning to all of you! I will catch up with everyone tomorrow morning. Have a beautiful day!! #kiss3

Good morning ladies. We took Jen to costco yesterday and we loaded up a cart (like always). I didn't think we needed (or wanted) much but somehow I kept finding stuff I hadn't seen before. I found two different types of granola type clusters (keto friendly) for my yogurt. Their salmon spread is so good. I air fry keto bread or bagels with it. I also found a big double pack of pizza pepperoni (which for some reason is almost impossible to find here in Kamloops). I don't eat processed meat often but I like to freeze it and then eat it sparingly. D is happy, he got a huge shepherds pie and chicken flings (like chicken fingers but more chunky pieces) so he'll be eating that for the next 5 days. That makes me happy b/c then I just need to get potato salad and his dinner prep is quick and easy.

Talked to the computer guy yesterday, so good news is that he can get the computer upgraded over the next few days so should have it back Sat or at the latest, Monday. Apparently, the graphics card is very old so definitely was slowly down the running of PS and LR but also my hard drive was starting to fail which was the cause of the glitchy stuff that was happening. So he will rebuild the computer which will be much cheaper than buying a new one. Hopefully that will keep things going for a few more years.

@faerywings I have a bad memory too. Jen is always asking if I remember this or that and no, most times I don't. Enjoy the new sofa that is coming and dinner out tonight.

@LSlycord It should only take one bird discovering your feeder and then others will come. Is the feeder near any trees? Our birds screech at the dogs, telling them to move away, it's so funny to watch.

@taxed4ever Enjoy the hike today.

I'm hopping in the shower and then getting a few chores done. I will head over to the park to get some photos of the swans and ducks mid day and get a few groceries. We'll binge something later.

HAGD everyone.

Afternoon all,

Quick in and out today for me too. I'm running behind again and need to get on the treadmill shortly. I have a GSO blog post due today and I started it last night. I think it's almost ready to post, but it's a time-cruncher.

Chris @faerywings yay for getting the love seat today and for going out to dinner tonight. How fun.

Linda @LSlycord those HOA's are so strict down there - I'm not surprised about anything. It used to drive me nuts - all of their rules and regulations. Some are worse than others, too. Good luck.

Hugs to everybody and maybe I'll get a chance to pop in later. Ava took her dog to be spayed today and I told her I'd come up and give her some love later on. Adrienne also picks her cat up today - they finally got him declawed and she's a basket case over him. He's starting to claw their very expensive custom-made furniture. Oh boy. Lila also injured herself the other day and she's taking her in when she picks up the cat. Busy pet day on the compound.

Vicky @vickyday I saw your post about my FB post yesterday but haven't been able to look at it yet.

Happy Thursday all.

YAY for the new sofa! YAY for cute baby pictures! My parents didn't take a lot of pictures, either! I wish I had thought to ask them questions about the photos they did have before mom got Alzheimer's disease and before dad died. So get as much info out of them as you can! Stories and also relative info!

Good Evening (20 minutes before morning),
I had a great day with Carolyn and Ilene today! I picked Carolyn up at 10:30 and we headed to Ilene's. We sat around chit chatting for the first hour or so and then I heated up the potato soup I took. It was even better than it tasted last weekend! Later on in the afternoon we had some dirt pudding. Didn't leave there until 4. I left with a headache but took some acetaminophen when I got home and it went away. Mark and I worked on a puzzle after he came back from the woods, got his shower, and we did our nightly Bible reading and study.

That was my day in a nut shell!
