Hello O-zies!
Did you see, it is our Mamma O's birthday today.
Always wishing her a happy and healthy year ahead.

Yesterday's weather was B-A-D. We ended up with about 4" of snow before it turned to sleet and ice. Then it froze over last night and the driveway is nothing but ice. The schools have a delayed opening so by the time everyone here needs to leave, the roads should be salted and cleared.
BTW-- Cait's school never closed. Her third class was canceled by the professor but the other 2 were open for business so she has unexcused absences in them. That school is nuts. I told her that I couldn't tell her what to do but that I didn't want her driving on the roads, it wasn't worth it. Gary agreed 100%. She did too even though she is aggravated at the school.

I ended up taking on of the pain meds for my headache and I didn't seem to have any side effects. It took the edge off of the headache but didn't get rid of it completely. But I will take what I can get.

Cait made a really good dinner in the crockpot. Sorry, all of you no-carb ladies but it was french toast. We cubed up a loaf of french bread and she soaked it in eggs and cinnamon, then cooked it in the crockpot with brown sugar on top. Really good and perfect on a snowy cold day.

Today I have my mammogram which is always fun (not). It will be almost 4 years since my surgery and it still hurts the scar tissue. Then I will come home, change into work clothes and clean for my friend. I have to look for one of Caitlyn's fake fingernails that popped off when she was babysitting the other day. It is going to be like a needle in a haystack.

Stay warm and happy! ::grouphug

Nancy- boo to the Devils for not playing well but really BOO!! at the refs. Did you end up with more rain than snow? W is loving the chunks of snow and ice that she can eat.
Blue Apron really seems to make up great recipes. Bet you had a great time with your GF last night too.

Rae- clothing karma hits again! Bam! You amaze me!!! I would love that line of pajamas especially since I live in clothes that look like PJs all day long. (Or PJs that I have "transitioned into day clothes" a la Liz Lemon. I relate to Lemon waaaay more than a "real" person should:rofl: )
Taz and W would have a great time together/ She is going through the same phase and it making a PITA of herself, esp to R who only wants to sleep.

Trudy- Good for you for making your Gary go the both Drs yesterday (assuming that he did get in to see the GP). I hope that the knees aren't too bad... but it gets to a point where you have to decide how much more pain you can take. My dad put off his hip replacement until it was unbearable to sit/stand/walk and it took him a long time to get there b/c he is as stubborn as a rock.
I also am sending support to you b/c if he is like most men, he isn't going to be the best patient to care for.
Hahahaha!!! I don't know if I would have been any help at all to you in the Dr's office but I would have made a stink. BTDT!

:pound: Felis, that cracked me up!!! I had an ulterior motive for wanting the snow to start so Cait wouldn't have school but I can see why that is surprising since I hate any snow at all.
I understand how it feels to start out with something totally new but you will pick it up quickly. And how much more fun will it be to use lots of brushes and masks! I am so excited
to try Joanne's challenge too. I am going to use the snake's pictures for it, I think that will be cool and thank you for the inspiration for getting the pictures of them.
Oh yeah, Cait would *love* to have a bear at home. She always said how much she would love to hug the bears that would come into our yard and wanted to put a saddle on one and ride it to school. Wacky girl!

Jean- what a relief that you didn't get too much snow and just enough for DH to cancel the bird survey. All he needs is to get sicker. Hope that is better today. I told Caitlyn about the hedgie and she is mad that our library doesn't have anything like that. I will show her the webcam link.

Felis- I wonder if your wild hedgehog is like our Groundhog? Funny how he eats cat food!

love to all!

Good Morning ladies... It is nice that when I get up at around 7am that it seems to be getting lighter! DH decided to try to go to work today, wonder if they will send him home or not?? Although he seems to be feeling much better. He did get into see the Dr and she prescribed some antibiotics and a swish and swirl med for his throat, that started working right away and made it so that he did not feel like he was swallowing razorblades!! I also picked up some popsicles for him and he loved those LOL. When DD had her strep she lived on popsicles and suggested them to me. I said to DH now can you imagine having to take care of a 5 month old and a 4 year old and have strep too??? My DD is amazing!! Men are such babies!! LOL. Today I will try to get to the pool again, Tuesday at the pool was quite busy, but I have to suck it up and just go no matter how busy it gets! I wish I had my own indoor pool where I could do laps whenever I wanted! I don't want much do I?? :becky:

Chris - I left my birthday message to Momma O this morning and hope that she has a healthy and happy year also!! Yuck you are sure getting the horrible weather! Winter is never ending for all of you out East! Hope the temps get warmer for you soon! I don't blame Cait for missing her classes, it is not worth the risk on the highways for sure! How nice that she made supper for everyone, its sounds very delicious, but would give me acid reflux all night long LOL. Hope that your Mamo goes well and it is not painful for you! Good luck finding the nail too, it will be very difficult to see for sure! Glad to hear that the pain meds did not give you any side effects, too bad it did not totally take the pain away though

Well DD will be face timing with me very soon so I will end here and come back a little later on to catch up with the rest of you. Have a wonderful morning everyone!

good morning - well it is sunny and bright and I am very late getting here. So much to do early in the am. Had to get Luther to the vet to make sure his ears are ok and they are. Then we did a walk around the frozen pond. That was fun. Came home and dropped off Luther. Went downtown to pay property taxes and Luther's dog license. Whew there went a lot of money. Then went to the dog food store and got Luther treats. Now I am home and laundry is now in drier. Then tonight I have a hockey game. So told the boys I am not cooking. Well dinner last night was fun but our girlfriend is going through rough times and there really is nothing we can do but be there for her. She has family so they are helping some. It is so sad. But then when I got home I got great news. The NHL player's safety committee (the people that hand out supplemental discipline) came down really hard on Alex Burrows. They gave him a ten game suspension. That is a rarity. They video they put out states that Burrows was the aggressor after he was checked with a clean hit. And the said that twice it was a clean hit. Then after the whistle Burrows what not let it go and pull my Hall down and then punched him in the head but more importantly in the length of the suspension was that Burrows kneed him in the head. The safety also did not like the way the skate blades of Burrows where just flapping around and could have cut the refs and linesmen as they were breaking up the fight. He should have gotten more games but 10 is a lot for them to give. He gave some lame excuse that his knee just hit him as he was trying to get his arms free. The committee said they did not buy that. LOL! I had the strangest dream waking this morning - It was someone was being killed off on a show I like. I guess it must have been from "this is life". Well tonight my team is playing the Calgary Flames and it should be interesting if my team can keep goals out of the net while scoring some of our own. Will be interesting to see who the goalie is. Do we get the Flames Mike Smith or their backup. They play the Rangers tomorrow so maybe we get the back up. Oh well excited to go.

Chris sorry the day was so bad. The snow barely covered the grass and then it was sleet but soon it was all rain and even this morning the road were fine. Hope mamo is not too painful. Wow it does not seem that it was 4 years ago. Time really does go fast. How nice that Cait cooked. Have fun cleaning and looking for that lost nail. LOL

Trudy glad the MG is doing better. It must have been fun to see Boston do so well against the Rangers. Lundqvist is going out of his mind. He has never been in a situation where his team has been out of a play off race and he is not handling it well. It seems he blames a lot on his defense and not on himself. Of course when he plays well his team does not score and when he plays poorly he team still cant score LOL. Thank you Boston. Perhaps on Sunday though my team might get a win. That would make me feel better now that Marchand is back and my Johansson is still out with a concussion.

Rae you and shopping are the perfect duo. Two places and two success. And you being able to help others that is special! I totally agree that the dogs need some time with their own friends. And I am just like you in spoiling Luther. He brings me presents and I give him treats. He comes and of course it is play time. They are so funny.

Felis I love the way you laughed at Chris wanting snow. That was shock. good luck with the new editing program. It is hard to get started but then when it starts to click you feel such empowerment.

Jean glad you did not get the snow. Bummer though he did not get to survey the birds. We saw a huge flock of geese on the field and a red tail hawk flew over head and blue jays and turkey vultures. Any bird is a good bird for me.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. Today will be a good work day. D is going to be working late and I am going to take advantage of the quiet house to get lots done. Hopefully the weather cooperates later when I get Taz out for a walk. I'm looking forward to sunny skies on Sat when we go out to the island to see B for the day.

Heard from the woman I met at VV this week. I've inspired her to try low carb. I'll meet up with her soon to talk about it after she has some time to do a bit of research. If I was (much) younger I'd go back to school to get a degree in nutrition. I sure love the subject! At my age though....nope LOL.

I'm popping over to our local health food store later to get my coconut creamer and hopefully they have coconut yogurt in stock now. For some reason there has been a city-wide shortage for the last month. None of the stores have had any for weeks now.

I found a great recipe for paleo/low carb BBQ sauce (its on my pinterest board) so when I run out of my SF stuff from the States I will start making my own. Even though I've given up artifical sweeteners, I am not going to toss my BBQ sauce away that I stocked up on over the winter. I don't use enough to bother me (that I've noticed) but once I finish it up then I won't buy anymore.

Had to laugh at D last night. He is always so thrilled to be able to find a source that debunks food/nutrition info. So he couldn't wait to tell me that he saw Dr. Oz after work yesterday and he talked about how gluten free stuff is so bad for you. He wanted to point out that my way of eating is wrong LOL. He's holding onto the hope that eating chips, chocolate bars and little veggies/fruit is a health diet LOL. So luckily Dr. Oz was on again at bedtime so I got to see some of the show he saw which was pointing out that many GF products have rice starch and/or flour in them and they have high level of arsenic in them. So he was saying to limit how much of those products you eat to be safe. So, I shut D down by telling him that thankfully I don't eat rice so I'm ok. BTW....he eats tons of rice so not sure about his arsenic level :)

I bought a himalayan salt lamp last week and have been using it at night. It took a few days to get used to having some light in the room at night but I'm used to it now and it does seem to be helping me breath better and improving my sinuses at night. So between the essential oil diffuser and the salt lamp....I'm feeling really good in the morning when I wake up. I think I'll get one soon for the LR too.

Chris - hope you find that fingernail but will be shocked if you do. Talk about a needle in a haystack situation LOL. Glad you were able to manage the meds better than you thought yesterday. I agree about C's school. That is ridiculous about encouraging unsafe driving situations just to attend a few classes.

Trudy - have a good FT talk with H and have a good swim if you go. I totally agree about men and sickness LOL.

Everyone else....hope all is well. I'm getting to work now. Have a great day.

Nancy - see that we are cross posting today.

So sorry to hear your friend is having a hard time. Yes, being there to listen and offer emotional support is good. I bet she appreciates it. Ugh....did you have to say that dirty word....taxes???? I am dreading ours. Every year it keeps going up and is just a ridiculous amount of money. Ours isn't due until July.

What a good thing the committee was strict with the punishment. You never know how they are going to handle these kind of things, so good they did this.

Hi everyone back here again to catch up. I actually got another page done this morning after coming back from the pool. It was not quite as busy as the other day, so I got in a few more laps than Tuesday. Sunny skies here today and hoping to get out to wash the car later on. It is sure dirty!!

Nancy - Wow a 10 game suspension!! But it does sound like he deserves so much more! Was he fined $$ also? Yes I know that you are not happy that Marchand is back on the ice and your player is not :sorry: but we are happy that he is playing again. Just hope he doesn't do anything that stupid again!! Sorry to hear that your friend is going through such a tough time, it is sad!! But like you say all you can do is be there for her as a shoulder to cry on or for some sound advice!

Felis - I too laughed at your comment about Chris and the snow. Yes it was a shock to all of us that she would be wanting :smow: Hope that you had a good day!

Rae - Did you lose more weight when you started doing more of a Paleo Diet? I am stalled and wouldn't mind losing another 10lbs if it is possible. I have tried adjusting my Keto Diet in different ways, but nothing is working. Let me know if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!! My sister has a few of those salt lamps (I actually got her two for her birthday last year) She loves them and swears that they are working wonders for her! Hope that you get the sunshine, we have not had rain for a few day now, but see that Mainland has, we often get far less rain than the Vancouver area. Hope the sun is shining bright for your visit to see B!!

Jean - Sending you good weather vibes so that you and your hubby can get out and enjoy the day!

I am outta here and off to pick up a few things downtown. It is nice to have the quiet house to myself again. :becky:

We had a little more snow overnight but not much. My friend east of here had more. Had my usual Dr. checkup and she said I'm doing better than some people half my age. Know that was an exaggeration, but I'll take it. So glad BP was down to the new guideline level. DH is waiting for me so we can go to the library together. They have a book for each of us that we ordered through their regional system. Wish we could see the hedgie!

Try to come back later...

Hi girls,
Thursday afternoon was pretty strange. Two mens from Jehovah's Witnesses comes and they wants to know what I know for the Bible, but I don't know how they learned for me much more then I usualy share, which coud be very dangerous, but I hope it's not! They wasn't pretty happy that I'm more familiar with the parts which they prefer to pretend that don't exist, like that Bible regulate how to have a slaves and how much can hurt them before this violence to become a sin. Hey, don't blame me, you started to quote me parts of it, then try to figure out whole of it. The polish was actually very kind, but bulgarian (typically for us) don't react good to my provocation, he became nervous and combative. They couldn't answer me to all my questions that I always wondering like: ''do all it's His plan; are we are marionettes; how is possible He to watch indifferent to the harm of innocents; where gones all burn bushes and a pillar of salt?!''. Looks like they wasn't prepared for the truth. But promised me to speaks about the suffering if I gone to discuss it on some of their meetings. I told that will saw but I'm too busy. But polish says that if I do not go he will come again with his wife, because he think we will like one each other. It was obvious that I and the other man don't liked. Somehow I mentioned that works with street cats and he told that I should be more cared for the humans pain than for a cats. Guess what IF your god was more concerned about the children as to give us lessons, there would be no need others to take care of them! I wish I wasn't on the yard so they saw me and I haven't other way than to open the door! I really needs to know the real answers about God, but not quotes from book that everybody can distract and use for your own purposes. Polish almost was convinced me to go and see what they knows, but the belligerence of the other man and the conviction of my family that this isn't approved from the orthodox church, but a sect that eventually will expecting donations, refused me. Now I have to hide from the nice polish couple and to hope that the other man really believe in the Christian values and wouldn't to send me for revenge Animal control to check me. I can handle with one audit, but this will upsetting the owner of the cat foundation, especially if they found that soon I can lose the roof at one of the rooms. If the Christian god is trying to test me, he must to remember that I quit him long ago! If tries to bring me back, he is choos totally wrong strategy!

Chris, I'm happy to see that it's you again  ! How stupid and unreasonable to not closed the school, when all other are do it! I hope that the mammogram wasn't so unpleasantly to endure it! Should you stand stationary or in position that hurts you? I'm sorry I'm afraid I don't understand your question! What you mean our hedgehog to be like your Groundhog?!

Trudy, your husband seems like my dad, he can't just to lay down and recovery, always have to do something, if is to sick to go on work will start to repair something at home. Its sounds cool to have your own indoor pool, except the part when will have to pay the water taxes :) !

Nancy, awesome that Luther is fully recovered! Aww a walk around the frozen pond, so cool ;) !

Rae, it's not actually necessary to go back to school so to can get another diploma. My sister was found some distance learning classes that US offer. She have to pay, they send her textbooks and gives her an exam date, after that exam is online and you received a valid diploma. She was checked for something about holistic, but you are good in research and will could find for nutrition too. Can do it without to leave your house.

Jean, great for your Dr. checkup results! Did you saw the hedgie?! I check the link often, but for now I saw only few quills. Why in this library never switch the lamps off?! Right now it's 12:50 am, if the clock on a webcam is correct and they still are on. It must be so frustrating when night animal don't receive any darkness!!! And all that wasted electricity is bad for the nature! And you pay for it with your taxes. :(
