A very happy Solstice to you! May this day bring new light into all of your lives.

(Me, I am going to be very happy when I can take the dogs outside at 5 am and not have to use a flashlight to see where I am stepping)

How did everybody survive the day yesterday? I got some more stuff done, so I feel like I am getting there. Wrapped/bagged up a bunch of gifts and am now ready to wrap the last basket for my neighbor. I still need to do my mom's but I save her's until the end since she is easy to please. It helps that she has literally no sense of smell so I can put any darn thing in there whether it smells good or not. haha!!!!
One of my kids' friends ordered a basket for his mom's birthday and she loved it. That feedback makes me sooooo happy!!!!

Cait and I brought the cookies to the Vet. When I went to the desk, I joked that I "came bearing strange gifts." We had human cookies, dog cookies and one of Cait's homemade cards. We also had that stool sample and I was very clear there was absolutely no contact between the 2. I had it in a container in a ziplock in a plastic bag. Cait brought the rats in and the one tech came over to snuggle with them a bit. That was good.

So today. Yikes. I need to bake one last batch of cookies. Finish wrapping and figuring out what I am missing for the kids. If I need anything else, I can run out after my haircut tomorrow. Oh, I def. want to stop at the liquor store and get some wine for Christmas dinner and some scratch-offs for the stockings. I think one year, Scott won $2 and one year I won $1. :clap2:

And everyone (yes, I mean that-- everyone. No excuses ) has to come and play along with me in this thread: Day 11, Dec 21 - GAME: Show me a Smile

Have a super day, my Ooos!!!!

Nancy- this is the first time in a long time I am not 100% jealous of your hair appt. :pound: Mine is tomorrow!!!
I hope that the next month recheck of DH's eyes shows better eye pressure.Gary had his first eye exam in years the other day and found out that he has the start of diabetic retinopathy. It really never ends. Is there anything they can do to slow the cataract from growing?

Jean- hope that you had a nice visit with your friend. Good to hear that the cousin is doing ok. That is nice to hear about your library not giving fines. Over the summer I was a day late with a book and I joked with them that it was my first time *ever* having a fine/late book. They were shocked especially since the Fine was only 10 cents. heh!!

Rae- how fun for Taz to be in the snow playing. Not so fun for you guys as he kept waking you up... How did he do with the teeth cleaning? At first, i thought you meant Darrell was getting teeth cleaning until I read the part about swaddling.
How funny that Taz stole the laundry ball but had no cares in the world. W chewed one of my slipper socks yesterday so I told Gary that he could get me a new pair for Christmas.
I think that Diclofenac is the generic name for Voltaren Gel. I will have to look at my tube.

Felis- remember what I say all of the time? This is a No Pressure, No Stress Thread. If you can't chat or don't have the time to do so, it is not a problem. We love seeing you here but understand that Real Life comes first.
Your dream Christmas is like mine- I would love to be all cozy with a book, some cookies and maybe some Bailey's Irish Cream... heaven!!!!
I should have scrubbed out my litter boxes outside before the weather got cold too. Much easier to do with a hose on the patio. The other day I had to scrub out my recycling bucket in the bathtub- ick.
I still think your cat house decorations sounds perfect!

Hugs, everyone!!!

good late morning - yesterday was a do nothing day. Went out to dinner and that was it. LOL. Staying up to 1am both Luther and I were tired. My DH had Luther out for 1.5 hrs so Luther was good with naps. I did finish a book and it was good. It is real science fiction about a space ship that goes 4 billion years in the future and has to deal. Fun to read. I made two calendars for Christmas one for my family and one for my son's both of our dogs. They turned out so well. I love Picaboo! Today is a hockey day. Luther is as doggie day care today as my DH will be late coming home as he is giving his last final of the first semester. Hockey game is Rangers at the Devils. Exciting by nerve racking.

Chris I love this day as it means starting tomorrow the days get longer. I cant wait to have more sun! Have fun at the hair dresser! I am sure you will look fantastic! Have fun baking. Your visit to the vet sounds wonderful. I am sure they appreciated it.

Rae how fun Taz and you finally got some snow. This weekend we are having rain and temps in the 50s may get to 60. The pits. How is the back doing? Must be better since you were out playing with Taz. That is great!

Felis hope you get to read and be cozy! Your cleaning is awesome as I am so bad at it.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. It's getting down to the wire now. Have to focus and start getting things checked off my list. Tonight and tomorrow I will do a bit of baking. I will wrap later and then tomorrow will figure out how much more paper/bags I'll need to get to finish up.

I think I'm done gift shopping but will figure that out today as I go thru everything and double check. D kept asking what I want (nothing really) and got him to buy me some slippers and a housecoat but he wanted to get me something else so yesterday I got excited when I found something I hadn't heard of before and would love to use, its a cuisinart electric pancake/crepe maker that also makes pizzelles. I got onto pinterest and found a bunch of recipes for gluten free pizzelles so texted him that I put it in my amazon wishlist and he ordered it. Luckily last night was the last night of guaranteed delivery by Xmas so it should be coming tomorrow. Jen & I will have fun with it. We can make some pizzelles together, she will love them (small round thin waffle-type cookies popular in Italy, I believe). I found a GF pumpkin cream to try out with them. Yum.

My back is somewhat better but still bothering me so am being super careful with bending and lifting and am trying to stretch it out often throughout the day. So I think I'll be fine, it's manageable.

I put together a list of movies for us to watch Xmas Eve/Day. Jen is very excited to stay in with us, dress comfy, have a few drinks and just relax in front of the tv for a few days and we'll play a new dice game I got us. We are going to try out two new drinks. One is a chai tea/almond milk/bourbon recipe with orange and cinnamon. The other is bourbon, pear/ginger bitters, chai tea, orange slices and apple. Darrell will enjoy just having a bit of bourbon on the rocks. I hope that this all makes Jen very happy b/c this is her first year without her husband and it looks like Bailey will not be joining us. We haven't seen her for quite awhile and she has immersed herself in her drug/alcohol life, staying away from us. I still hope to hear from her at some point and pray we get to see her but its been over 3 mths and not likely to happen. But....Xmas miracles have been know to happen, right? Regardless, I am making it my mission to uplift Jen as much as I can throughout the holiday.

I hope to get my Jan challenges ready over the next few days and pop in and out of the O but no idea how my schedule will be now.

Chris - hope you will be happy with the haircut. I bet your vet's office just loves you guys. Sounds like a fun visit to them. Apparently, Taz did great at his cleaning, they swaddled him and he settled right down and relaxed as they did the cleaning. He'll go back to them in the next 6-9 months. It was so cute, he got a report card and a little tiny toothbrush to bring home :)

Nancy - what book did you read? I am reading Noumenon and so far am loving it (clones space travelling to a faraway star, that is told in vignettes spanning eons). Here's the goodreads link if you want to check it out.

Trudy, Felis, Jean....everyone else....hope you are all having a great day.

Off I go to get another coffee and get to work before running errands and wrapping later. Have a great day, everyone.
