The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
I spoke too soon about my area not getting hit too hard with trees down and power outages. My street was one of the lucky ones. About half of my town was/is without power and the main roads were closed much of the day. A boulder blocked the road up the mountain which made me happy that I didn't have to drive up to get my groceries from that supermarket.
Scott drove down to give my ILs a hand with tree branches and they are still without. My parents got power back around dinner time which is a big relief.
I felt helpless-- I would normally invite anyone over to shower, do laundry, charge phones but I had to limit the offer to my parents that if they needed anything that we would leave the house and disinfect before/after they came. They were ok but I wish I could have offered more.

I spent a lot of time picking up broken branches yesterday and thank goodness that they were mostly pretty small ones. The biggest branch had come down the day before the storm.

It was a quiet day yesterday and will be one again today. Maybe today I will get a chance to scrap some pictures from the last few days. When I was in the yard, there were so many of those teeny brown toads but when I saw one that was almost completely black, I called Cait outside to check him out and she took a couple of photos of him. I think I have a few pictures of the bees on the coneflowers with globs of pollen on their legs. So cute!

Gratitudes:
-that my parents power came back so they have one less thing to stress about
-that Scott was able to go and help my ILs outside, made him feel useful and they paid him too
-still COVID-free

Have a fabulous day!! xoxo

Nancy- oh no, sorry to hear about your dogwood. At least it didn't cause any damage. my BFF sent me some photos of her FIL and Sis-ILs cars with a huge tree across the roofs. It also blocked their front door but thankfully they have a side door that they can use in the meantime. The storm seemed much worse than I was expecting.
That is so funny that MG is a Kearny girl! My mom grew up in Kearny and Gary's parents are from North Arlington. My g-parents lived about 1 mile from his on the other side of the Pike. And then, my SIL and her family are also from N Arlington and they lived on the opposite side of Kearny Ave. If the Pike and Kearny Ave made a cross, the families occupied 3 out of 4 quadrants ;)
I heard that there were a few tornadoes down the shore, how strange...
Does DH's school have a time frame to make a decision? NY is doing so well.

Jean- this morning, it is freezing here and I had to put long pants on and I am still cold. I am glad that the sun warmed you up a bit yesterday but not too hot.
Cait is conflicted a bit since she knows that she does better with in person rather than remote classes. But she is saying that she will save money on gas and clothes and makeup if she is home so she's trying to come to terms. She (Miss Anxiety like her mama!) will feel so much better once it starts, it is the whole "unknown" that makes it hard for her. (wonder where she gets it?)

Felis, Kay, Trudy, Cheryl- and all of you!!

good morning - I have been out on my morning walk. There are still lots of branches down. On one street that I love to walk down but there is police tape. I who usually follow rules went under the tape and there was a huge tree down on a home and another huge tree with a large crack in it so not surprised they want no one just hanging out on the street. Our town actually has been going around and picking up the branches that are one the street. Last night Luther actually went on a walk with me. The darnedest thing happened. A woman came up to me and asked if she could video on her phone Luther and I walking. Turns out her sister has a big dog and it pulls her and she was impressed by how well Luther walked with me. I told her he had been trained and training is a must. Made me happy for Luther as he really is a good dog. I also had a nice talk to a couple who we met with walking Luther. They are retired and are moving. We will miss seeing them. I think they were surprised and appreciated my stopping. Watched hockey and the Coyotes won. It was awesome. Taylor Hall now plays for the Coyotes after being traded from my Devils. The Coyotes are playing Nashville and their coach Hynes is my former Devils coach. How weird the Devils don't make it but lots of my traded players and coaches are in the play offs. More hockey today and I am loving it.

Chris I read that in my town over 2000 without power and a lot not coming on until the weekend. I looked at it as nature doing it own tree trimming and getting rid of trees that needed to be removed. That was so nice of Scott to go and help out the ILs. Glad the parents got their power back on. Today is weird with all the clouds.

Jean I too woke up and it really cool. Only 73 right now going up to low 80s. But I will take it. I think you are right about no in person meetings. How is the baseball team doing?

Waving to all.

Gratitude
power is still on

Morning ladies!! I was MIA yesterday, :sorry: I have not gotten my whales photos posted yet and actually I haven't even had time to see if any of them really turned out yet. So I will be doing that today! Yesterday I spent the whole day with my sisters at the Lake and had lots of swims, it sure felt good! It was very warm and water was very refreshing, so I swam out quite far trying to get in some swimming exercise, it was great! Nice chatting and catching up with them on the beach as we sat in our sand chairs and soaked up the sun. I was already a bit sunburned on my forehead from the whale watching so I wore a hat and lots of sunscreen. Last night we got lots of rain which we really needed and so today is a bit cooler, which is also very needed! We really could use the break from the heat! I will get my online shopping done this morning and hopefully be able to pick it up tomorrow. I think we are also going on the wine tour tomorrow and the car is being serviced this morning so it will be a stay at home day today! A bit of laundry to do and my photos to go through and that is about it for me today. Our Whale watching trip was very nice! A gorgeous sunny and calm day at sea, we saw lots of Humpbacks, but could not get too close unfortunately, they were feeding and very unpredictable as to where and when they would surface again once they did the big dive. Pretty cool though and we saw lots of other wildlife, sea lions with pups, eagles, turkey vultures, Harbour seals and Porpoise, but sadly not a single Orca :mmph: Oh well the tour guide tried her very best to find them for us. When Heather and Jonah went a couple of years ago, they saw dozens of them and they all swam right up to their boat. Perhaps we will try again another time who knows :noidea:

Chris - Wow that must have been quite the storm that passed through your area!! Glad that you did not lose power, but sorry that your parents did! Happy to hear that they now have it back on! Nice of Scott to go and lend a helping hand!! What a great young man you have there! It is good that Cait now knows what is happening with her schooling! It is reassuring to know that she will be safe! Isn't it strange how a storm can make the temps change so very much!! I hope that you are over the crazy weather and that town gets cleaned up from all the debris soon. Yup there will be chainsaws buzzing like crazy I bet!

Nancy - Glad you are enjoying all the hockey, DH is also and now things are not getting done around here because of it LOL. Oh well we have the rest of the year to get other jobs done, because most likely we will not be travelling anywhere for quite some time  Glad that you and your Luther have been out and about walking and nice that you let that person film you and gave her good advice to get her dog trained! Luther really is such a good boy and it would be no fun at all to walk with him and get dragged around!!

Jean - I am looking forward to see my whale photos too LOL. Hope that you are keeping busy with fun things today! Hope that you are not cold anymore and that you make a decision about your computer genealogy group. Yes most likely not in person meetings for a long time :mmph:

Ok I will get busy with my online food shopping and then get my photos downloaded off the Canon Camera, only had one photo turn out with my iPhone it was impossible to see if the whales were in the frame with the sun being so bright out there. Have a great Thursday everyone!

Gratitudes:
Cool breezes this morning
Lots of rain last night
Sunshine today
Sisters!

I am really late getting in here after being MIA for the past couple of days. DD#1 and DD#3 came over and we sat out on the patio enjoying the first day with light cool breezes blowing and temps from 85-88. It was so good to be able to be outside for quite awhile. The 3 of us really needed a long visit together. Will just say that the stress levels are higher again. Hoping that it will be lower again as time goes on.

Oh, my heart goes out to all on that were in the path of the hurricane/tropical storm and to all who lose or are still without power. Haven't talked with DSon#2 who lives just south of Washington, DC in Maryland yet to find out how they made out.

The brain is 'mush' right now so not going to do personals... just know I am thinking about all of you.
