:bawling: I don't want the summer to end! I never do, I like it when it's hot. This month hasn't felt like the typical August humid weather so it might not feel as drastic as Autumn begins.
How are all of you in the Southeast doing? Idalia is moving over GA and the Carolinas so my thoughts are with you that she leaves quickly.

I was pretty busy all day yesterday. Mostly puttering about type stuff but everything I needed to do got done. Scott and Sam have an official move-in date, Sept 16. I am honestly more happy and excited for them than sad for me. Talk to me on the 17th and it might be different *winks* Scott bought a small hand-crank washing machine and an air-dryer and he tried them out yesterday. Sam kept eyeing it suspiciously. hehehe. It's something used for camping or people off the grid. But it will be good for him to have if he needs work uniforms cleaned and doesn't have the time to drive up here. It was pretty neat (and amusing) to watch him use it. He was laughing that they could bring it camping, along with the minifridge they always pack. They always have the coolest campsites.

I called my parents yesterday to tell them I was going with them to PA this weekend. I offered to give my dad a hand with trimming some of the hedges and painting the door if the weather permits. I just wanted to make sure Gary was cool with it first. My dad answers the phone and this is the convo:

Me: All set for PA. You guys will pick me up on your way?
Dad: Yup.
Me: Cool. I'll see you then.
*goes to hang up phone*
Dad: Wait. Your mom will want to talk to you.
Me: Yes and we'll be on the phone for another hour discussing what food she is going to bring. ;)

And that is a perfect encapsulation of the two of them.
And me. :floorlaugh:

I am cleaning this morning and Scott asked if Gary and I wanted to hike this afternoon since we didn't go last week. It's sunny and hitting 72* so a perfect day for that. I am going to go even if Gary can't.

Today I am grateful for sunshine and fresh air!

@LSlycord Hope that IT was able to get everything up and running for work yesterday. I am glad that you only got some wind and rain. Syd was okay too?
I love hearing about the birds at your feeder. Gary and I watched a bird take a bath in a puddle on the patio and then shaking and shaking and shaking themself to dry off. Too cute! A hummingbird flew in front of the window while we were staring out at the other bird and just hovered and watched us (or his reflection, who knows?) Either way, they are so fascinating.

@vickyday
Turning into you mother.......we ALL do to some extent.....even though we vow we will not! ;)
Truth! hahahahaha.
Glad that the mammo wasn't too awful. I have learned to speak up (hard for me to do at first) if it's too much pressure, especially if my scar is tender.
That sounds like young boys-- outside except for some feeding and watering LOL
Your book sounds very good too- hoping there is a happy ending :D

@BrightEyes so good to hear that you slept a little later yesterday. 4'9" is tiny! I'm happy for those extra 2" I have LOL!!
Woah, those must have been quite the photos to scrap of your Aunt and Uncle in Kabul. I'm going to have to look for your post!

@bcgal00 it's always something with computers, hope the laptop is fixable. Thats so exciting that you have your tour of France booked. What will you be seeing there?

@Cherylndesigns I bet visiting with your girls and dogs was more reviving than a nap would be :D LOL that Adrienne has her very own chair at your house hehe
Oh, no way that you broke your foot right before Steph's wedding! Your outfit sounds like you made it work, boot and all. Those boots are awful though. blech!
Thanks for sharing the wall pilates video. Maybe I need to get back on Insta...

big hugs to you all! xo

That hand-crank washing machine sounds......interesting! How big is it.....how much water/clothing does it hold?
Sounds like your dad is not much of a talker.....just enough to get his message across, LOL! My dad was the total opposite!
So happy for Scott and Sam!

Good Morning,
Mark has invited me to lunch, so I will leave in about 30 minutes to pick him up.
Got the CT tracking thread set up so I will work on a butterfly page this afternoon with "The Blues" kit I got from Lynn Grieveson.
Other than that, probably do some more knitting and listening to my audiobook.
Since we are going out for lunch, supper will be light. Probably a salad and tilapia for Mark and just a salad for me.
The temp is much cooler today with a slight breeze. I haven't actually stepped outside to see how the humidity is, but the sun is shining. Yesterday was total cloud cover all day. My sister, who lives about in the middle of FL, said she got nothing but wind and some rain from the hurricane, so that is good.
Today I am thankful I do NOT live along the coast! We are 4 hours inland and usually get nothing but rain from hurricanes.
HAGD!

WOW... did you see the Super Moon last night/early this morning??? I woke up at 3AM with lots of light shining in around the edges of the bedroom window blinds. The moonlight was as bright as sunlight!!! I was too sleepy to get the camera and take a photo. Crawled back into bed and slept until after 7AM.

I ran a couple of errands just before noon yesterday. Popped into Dollar Tree and found the pocket calendar for 2024-2025!!! :smiliesdoingwave: I grabbed 2 of them. I got some snacks, a double pack of face scrubbers (Sister had them and swore they worked really well) and a bottle of wood glue. The glue will be used to glue parts of a wood figure from Malaysia that got knocked over and broken. DD#3 called while I was gone - so called her back. Turns out she is taking her DH to the ortho doc at Rust Hospital on the same morning and same time I see a doctor at Rust. We are going to pick up some take-out and come to my house (1 mile from Rust) for lunch and a visit. Hoping we will know by then what dates DS#1 and wife will be here. I sat in the recliner after supper and fell asleep for an hour. Knew it was time to head for bed when I woke up.

@faerywings So glad that Scott and Sam have a move in date. LOL over the small washing machine. My niece has one in the travel trailer she lives in. Hers is just a bit larger than an old-fashion ice cream maker. She sits it in the shower stall to use. And she has a small clothes rack she hangs wet things on until they dry. Had to snicker over the conversation with your Dad!! And, yes, we do find ourselves acting/behaving like our mom as we get older!! I had to LOL at my son-in-law when he said "suddenly my mom's finger was on my hand - and her words were coming out of my mouth". So it isn't just us gals that have that happen.

@LSlycord so glad the brunt of the hurricane missed your area. And how wonderful that you got the papers with the permission to build in the restricted area. Wow... things seem to moving along in the right direction for you.

Need to go make sure I have all of the Aug CT stuff done. HAGD

Good afternoon all.

I slept in this morning. Woke up at 8 and decided I wasn't ready to get up. I laid back down, but didn't expect to go back to sleep, but I did and didn't get up until 10:30. It felt darned good and I haven't done that for awhile. I think it was because Daisy was gone. She left for the groomer at 8 AM and she normally starts sniffing under my door about that time and rolling up against it just to let me know she wants me to get up. LOL It's SO weird and quiet when she's gone all day.

Chris @faerywings you're taking Scott's moving like a champ. You've got this girl!!! :dancingbfly:dance3 I think I could actually do most of those poses against the wall at least the upper body ones. I'm going to try to add those into my working. Some of the ones on IG look really hard. I NEED to start working on my abs more and I might try those, too. Pilates is Callanetics on crack you know. Callanetics was the pre-cursor to Pilates. They just added all of that expensive machinery, especially in the beginning. I've always been more into core strength training than anything else. That started for me with all of the ballet classes I took over the years. I even took adult ballet classes for a long time. That core training just stays with you. As I type this, I'm grateful for all of the ballet classes I took, then all of the Callanetics I did for years and still do. I was listening to a podcast yesterday and this doctor said that the last twenty years of our lives depended on how well we had taken care of our bodies. He told young people, right now, to start doing the right kind of exercising and keeping themselves strong because it would pay off in their "older years". That really hit home for me.

I'm going to get off of here and get ready for my day. Hugs to everybody and HAGD,\.

Good morning ladies.

Did you see the Blue Moon? It was hidden behind clouds here...I saw it peeking out but it was pretty uneventful. We went out to dinner last night...a place along the ocean. The water was full of surfers and the waves were still pretty stirred up. But, boy, we were so lucky with no impacts from Idalia!

It looks like they are going to shut down the project that I am on at work. But they have another one for me. It just makes it slow going while we haven't decided for sure. ugh...

Good morning ladies. I have been online all morning checking home prices and availability, plus widening our search to include the bedroom community of Strathmore, about $15,000 people, 20 min out of Calgary. Darrell and Jen love the idea of a small bedroom community with bigger lot sizes and a quiet area but close to the big city when needed. I would prefer to be closer, I like the city, but we have to compromise and see what is in our price range. Fingers are crossed for the open house this wkend and the reduced price. I really want this sold before our trip if possible. I dread the thought of waiting until spring and doing this again. It is hard to do this, losing over $200,000 at the current sale price but if it gets us into an area with medical services then it will be worth it. This is so stressful, I just hope it all works out.

My laptop is fixable, the guy says it will take a few wks to get the parts in from the States so knowing how the mail is, I figure it could be closer to 3 wks. Oh well, I don't need to be online as much these days so will have to enjoy my PC upstairs in the early part of the day and then when I hang out with D in the main area I'll read more and use my ipad a bit. At least its not too expensive to fix.

I'll check in tomorrow, I am going to head out to the store and the dog park right now. HAGD everyone.

Rae @bcgal00 good luck with your viewings and house hunting. Hopefully, all will go well and at least get you in a better area for your medical needs. Good news that your laptop is fixable.

PC and my constant Professional Worrier status has gotten the best of me. What I said earlier about the last twenty years of your life should have been modified to say (my interpretation) if health has been on your side. I didn't mean to sound preachy. I feel very fortunate to have had fairly good health and to have been introduced to ballet at a young age. What that doctor said just resonated with me. I think he meant that the older we get, the harder everything gets - ain't that the truth?????

Signed,
Your Resident Professional Worrier.

I totally forget about the Blue Moon. I meant to try to see it, too. Glad they have another project for you at your job, Linda.

I just found out that my Granddog, Marley might not make it. She got pieces of bones (the chewy ones) caught in her intestines and they are on their way to Tulsa with her right now. She has been to a local vet and they thought they had her under control,
with IV treatment but she has taken a turn for the worse.
