Hello, hello! I am an hour later than usual and not for any reason other than I am so tired. I didn't sleep so well. Anxiety-producing dreams again and I have been awake since 4. I think I drifted off a bit between 5 and 5.30 but not 100% sure. I keep dreaming about shopping and this time at the library, and people get too close not wearing masks.

I most definitely need lots of coffee today.

I do have some really fantastic news to share! Our washing machine is working again!!!! Since I did several loads at my friend's, I am mostly caught up which is good because Caitlyn needs to run a few loads for her rats' bedding and for the hammocks she had made. MIL gave her two more buckets of fabric so she made a spooky bandana for W and is thinking about making them to sell too. I bet that this time next week my house will be getting decorated for Halloween. Her room will be, for sure!
Seasons in the Faery Household: Jan-April: We Hate Winter. May-August: We Love Sun and Heat. Sept-October: Halloween. Nov-Dec: Christmas.

Cleaning was fine, then I did yard work for a bit, some of the flowers needed some deadheading. I was disappointed at dinner. We got a bag of frozen chicken patties from the FP. I cooked them to make BLTs. The chicken turned out to be like chicken nuggets without the breading. White meat chicken but formed to look like a patty and "grilled." Do YKWIM?
Anyway, once I put in on a bun with lettuce, tomato, and cheese it was fine but Scott wouldn't eat it, and Gary's looked so sad on his plate with just a bit of buffalo wing sauce on it. I have a 5 lb bag of these patties and I don't know what exactly to do with hem. I can't/won't throw them out. Do you have any ideas of how I could jazz them up? I cooked extra so Gary could reheat them if the rest of us have something he can't eat. Maybe coating them in garlic powder and throwing them on the George Forman grill to heat them back up?

I have no clue what am doing today. Cait and an eye exam this afternoon and I am not sure if she still wants me to drive her. I dont' know if she is getting her eyes dilated and the Dr is a 20-25 minutes away. I offered to sit in the car and wait if she wants me to drive home. The office said that patients can bring a "guardian" inside but I don't know if at almost 22 yo, I would be considered her guardian LOL

Before I head out, I am sending good thoughts to everyone in the MS/LA/TX area. Be safe from this monster of a storm.

xoxo

Trudy- I am bummed that they moved the hike. I don't blame you for not wanting to go. It would make me very sad too. I remember as a little kid, we would go to Maine on vacation and I used to be so impressed by the logging trucks filled with the trees. i thought they were doing something very important with them, not realizing how they were devasting the land.
Were you successful at getting any blackberries?
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!! Was your Gary able to get the dishwasher working again? One thing about the Gary's I know (yours, mine, and my FIL for grand total of three! ha!) is that they usual can fix things.
To the guy who wouldn't wear a mask at your Gary's building-- so long, don't let the door hit ya on the way out!
I guess the Bruins lost the game a couple of days ago, did they win last night?

Kay- Great scores on the books. It is only to-do list today to call the library and find out why I can't put books on hold. I am almost done with my last "real" book although I do have some e-books in my old tablet. But it doesn't hold a charge (it is ancient!) so isn't always practical to use.
I wish that some of the rain would leave the TX area and be shared with you but only as rain, not as a hurricane. Cait had another training session and while it isnt what she wanted for her internship (She was supposed to be a "helper" on Family Service home visits) it sounds like something she will be good at and thankfully, able to do from home.
How is your family feeling, still mild cases? Hope so!

felis- you are probably closer to going to sleep at the time I was waking up today ;)
I am so happy that you had a productive day. Tomatoes and cucumbers make a good salad. I love cucumber and chick pea salad. I am bummed that I wasn't able to to get cucumber plants this year and I hope yours are ready to eat soon. That is my other complaint, that the different veggies aren't ready at the same time.
I LOVE seeing Biggie, Happy Belated National Dog Day to him! I want to pet him so much, he looks very soft.

My pups need to go outside, so I better do that now.
Hugs!

Good morning ladies... Thursday? Right?? It is another lovely sunny morning and it doesn't look like any rain in sight for all of the rest of next week. Maybe I will be able to get in a swim? I need to get out in the backyard and do some watering today. My day lilies need to be cut back too, they are way past done! I am sure there is weeding to do too, always lots of those! Some painting and scrapping are on my to do list also. I dropped off 4 ice cream buckets to a First Nations Woman who is picking berries to make some extra money, so I am hoping to hear from her soon to get them. Hooray!! Then the Jelly and Pie making will commence LOL. Oh and DH got the dishwasher running again, gotta love a guy who fixes things!! Turns out it was a blown fuse and it was an easy fix!

Chris - Yup our Bruins lost the game the other day and really got a spanking last night and lost again 7-1. They are fighting for their playoff lives now, hopefully they do better! Oh well Tampa Bay has a tough team! I am happy that you washing machine is all fixed Hooray!! Why are things never made to last anymore?? Seems we are always having to fix everything or replace it :mmph: Hope you find out why you can't seem to be able to put any books on hold! That must be frustrating! Sorry that you did not sleep well last night. Darn dreams!! I keep having one where I am losing all my teeth LOL. I will have to look that up and see what that means. I am literally spitting them out in my dream. Yuck!! Hmmm I will have to see if I can think of anything you can do with those so called chicken patties. Would they shred if you baked them? I have a great recipe for shredded chicken and ham that is Keto and perhaps your Gary would be able to eat it too??

Kay - Sounds like you should be set for reading for a couple of days!! I can't believe how much you can read!! Great score on the free ones too! Hoping that soon the fires will be dealt with and you will be able to be outside in the smoke free air!

Felis - Now I am waiting on the fruit too and today will go to get the other supplies I need. I won't make Jam, no one in our family likes the seeds etc. So I make Jelly instead, its a bit longer process having to strain everything through cheese cloth, but it always turns out so yummy!! Cute to see Biggie relaxing in the shady spot under your berries!

Nancy - What an embarrassing game for our Bruins, a couple of bad breaks and some questionable penalties and they tried to play catch up all night. Oh well it is what it is I guess. Hoping for a better game next time. Are the temps any better today?

No face time with Heather today, her MIL is coming to help her paint baseboard and some of her cupboards need touching up too. Her darn walker makes a mess of the baseboards, too small of a house to try to manoeuvre around in. So I will get another coffee and get some things done in the back here today. Have a great Thursday everyone!

Yesterday turned out so exciting! BiL sent an email about a bird sighting south of us, first state record of a tropical seabird called a Brown Booby (no really). The report was early in the morning of a bird found the previous evening. We eventually decided to go, about an hour's drive away. And when we got there it was again sitting on the same branch, distant but very clear in our spotting scope. Of course there were lots of other people and while masked, social distancing wasn't always too good. Hurricanes can bring such things, but there doesn't seem to be any reason for this one and ones recently in Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee and Ontario. Sure made our day different and happy. Today we're back to nothing special with warm and humid.

Chris, trying to think of something for the chicken patties...maybe try grilling with something tomato as chicken really takes on flavors of what it's cooked with. So glad your washing machine is fixed!

Gotta run now as a weekly genealogy thing starts in a few minutes.

Super grateful
for seeing a fun rare bird
DH for wanting to drive down
still sunny today

Hello my lovelies. We're currently in Little Rock, Arkansas for the night. What a day we've had! Got up early this morning in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and tried to outrun Hurricane Laura. We kind of drove right through it even though we altered our route and went north, then back west. Hubby believes that we drove right through the eye. We had the heaviest rain and zero visibility for about 2 hours. I have pictures on Instagram] https://www.instagram.com/cherylncreations/ and https://www.instagram.com/cherylndesigns/ I thought the water was up to the bottom of our SUV but hubby told me afterward that it was the wind picking up our car. YIKES!! We have a GMC Terrain and it's not a little SUV. It was total white knuckles for a couple of hours. We couldn't even see the sides of the road and there was no place to stop. Fortunately, everybody was driving sensibly so we just kept driving, albeit slowly. We were on backroads, so people could drive slower.

Tomorrow morning we'll get up early and finish our final leg into Cherokee County. YAY! It's been a long trip, but we're almost there. Daisy has been a real trouper - she's never really traveled before but she just rides along in the backseat like a champ and trots in and out of every hotel we've been in since last week.

The hotel we stayed in last night, in Hattiesburg, was full - we got the last room. The 5 story hotel was full of evacuees from the Port Charles, LA area where the hurricane made landfall. I felt so bad for them. Whole families with piles of bedding and their dogs on leashes were piling into single rooms all along our hallway. I just hope they all had homes to return to.

Just wanted to stop in and say hello!
