I am totally scrambled on dates! I thought that it was the 18th today. I think that my blood work Rx expires today so I will have to head over there to see if I can get that done.

Yesterday was kinda weird. I not even sure *why* it felt weird, but it just did. Maybe because of some of the stress? Probably. Scott had a Drs appt. He had been having chest pains for the last week and since he has a heart defect, he wanted to get that checked out. BP and EKG were perfect and the GP gave him a referral to see a cardiologist.
Cait ordered her new glasses online and has been wearing a pair of Gary's old glasses that he doesn't need anymore. They are a lower prescription than mine and they are helping her see the board at school so that will tide her over until they come in.
My biggest concern right now is about Gary. The fighting with the insurance company over his insulin and strips is really bad. He is now having a couple of "dead" spots in his vision from the retinopathy. He posted a rant online and some family and friends are trying to help with ideas on how to get strips less expensively and all that.
I hate that we, along with hundreds of thousands of other Americans, have to deal with this BS.
A 48 yo man should not have to be dealing with the prospect of going blind because he can't afford the exorbitant price of insulin. Makes me mad. Really mad. :mad2:

But the heartwarming part is how many people have come forward to help. Even the little sister of one of Scott's friends offered to share her test strips with Gary. Every time I think that people really stink, this shows me that only some stink. Most are very wonderful people. they are the ones who matter and who will make a difference in the world.

Today I am off to take Floyd for his recheck/blood work to see if there has been any change in his kidney function. If there is, they will tweak the amount/timing of his fluids. he did great again yesterday. He sure as heck isn't thrilled by it but at least he stays calm.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Nancy- you must be in Hockey heaven!!! Yay to the Devils for their win!
Glad that you were able to make it into your game without any issues of the flooding. How fun for you and Luther to watch the geese and egret. I like to support local businesses when I can and how much nicer for you to go to a deli owned by someone you know!
I saw signs for the Pru Center and thought of you. We actually parked in the Newark Museum lot and then walked to the Law office from there. I love looking at the buildings and architectures in cities and it was nice to walk over to the diner and see some of it.

Trudy- the trail and history from the pdf were neat to read. What beautiful views you must have had!
Did you tell us what you are painting? Looking forward to seeing the end result! Crazy weather that Heather's area is having snow and ice too. This is :loco:

Rae- I cannot tell you how happy I am to hear that you have settled into a good self-care routine. That is so important and something that I really should do too. Keep it up and know that I am cheering you on!!!
How scary that B tried and almost escaped. I guess there is no rhyme or reason to why she gets agitated like that? Must make it very hard for everyone.I am so sorry :(
I know that you are time constricted but I think it is a great idea to pop in-- even for a single sentence to say hello. We all miss you. I sadly know how easy and quickly disconnect happens. last night I had a dream about being at BFFATS's house and it made me miss her so much. It is on my to-do list to email her today. I have been putting that off for too long.

Felis- the weather sounds refreshing and rejuvenating and yes I am jealous LOL
That is exactly what I said to Caitlyn-- she was furious and frustrated that he got no jail time-- and that he thought that he should be able to teach again was ...just insane. One of the things the AG was doing what showing that he had a "type" and was grooming some of these girls. Makes me want to :puke:
Thanks for your reassurance about Floyd. He didn't throw up at all yesterday so that was good news.

I love reading and learning about history. I am listening to an audiobook right now and it is about Orhan Trains in WWII Germany. I am not sure if I am going to be able to continue it. I am only 3 chapters in and the images of Jewish babies on trains is awful to consider. But I agree- that we all need to remember and learn from history. There was a survey released last week that 41% of Americans don't know what Auschwitz was. :jaw:

Anyway- I need to get my day started-- love and hugs and light to all of you!

Morning everyone... It is a beautiful funny morning, but the temps are very cool! Only 2 degrees celsius
freez-in2-smiley.gif
Sure hope it warms up a lot this afternoon! Back to rain according to the forecast tomorrow and then the weekend looks sunny and warmer. Lets hope they are right! Yesterdays hike was very good, not too difficult of a hike and the views from the top were spectacular! The only thing that would have made it better would be if the skies were a bit more blue, but hey at least it wasn't raining! I really need to get a page done for this hike and a few others that I am behind on. I plan on painting a bit more today and hit the pool to do some laps. Try to figure out what the heck to have for dinner tonight and then cheer on the Bruins!

Chris - Your poor Gary! I just hate that you are having such horrible issues with the insurance for his insulin! It just is not right!! How nice that there are some good people in the world willing to help him out with his insulin and strips! You are right most people do not stink, but there are always those bad apples out there aren't there! No I have not told anyone what I am painting yet, still hoping that it turns out the way I want it too before I reveal it LOL. Silly I know. While I was facetiming with Heather yesterday the snow was still falling, sure hope it is much nicer today. She told me that all next week the temps are supposed to be in the double digits, what crazy weather, guess they will miss spring and just hop right into summer. Glad to hear that Floyd did well with his fluids yesterday, hope his check up at the Vet goes well also!

Rae - Oh I just love that dream that you had! Perhaps we were on our way to the Butchart Gardens or a nice hike together LOL. It would be wonderful to connect in person, I know that we would have so much to talk about! It sounds like you are doing a great job of taking care of you!! So glad that you are! How frightening that B almost escaped, what the heck was the security guy doing while this was happening?? Obviously not doing his job! I am so sorry that your family is having to deal with all of this! I send out healing thoughts to B everyday in hopes that her brain is healing and she will start to show signs of returning to you all happy and healthy!

Felis - How nice that you were able to spend time just lazing around with the dogs in the grass! Hope you managed to get caught up with your work though! So wonderful to smell the clean spring air! That is the way the air is here, so clean, but very crisp! Yes the hike was lovely and we had our lunch sitting around the base of the memorial. A sad reflection of all those lost in the war, but it is such a peaceful and beautiful setting! So many lovely trails around the mountain and we ran into a couple of young men out for a hike who were from Australia, they were amazed at the beauty of our Valley. If I find some kind of cure for our roses I will certainly share, but I am not much of a rose gardener either, my neighbour however has beautiful roses every year, so I will have to have a chat with her soon!

:hello: Jean and Nancy! I hope you are enjoying a lovely morning! Nancy sorry that your Devils did not come up with a win last night! Gotta go Heather is calling! :bolt:

good morning - well not really. My Devils lost and while I did not think they would win the series I did think that the other team was not a dirty team but I have since come to see that they are a very dirty team. My number one defenseman Sami Vatanen was taken out with a hit to the head that was not even demeaned a penalty. Their coach said it was a great hockey hit. How can a hit that hurts a player be called great. They always say I didnt mean to hurt the player yet they do it anyway. Any way my team is now down 3-1 and back in Tampa for a game on Sat. afternoon. We had 7 power plays and could only score one so that also demoralized the team. Then came home and watched Anaheim Ducks be swept by the San Jose Sharks. So both the SoCal teams Ducks and Kings were swept. Those two had been major teams and to see them swept is pretty shocking. At least my team was not swept. The weather today is cloudy and grey and depressing. But I will have a phone call with my sister so that is good.

Chris it is sad that Gary has to fight for his insulin. But always good to find out there are good people out there. Good luck with Floyd at the vet and hope the fluids are making a great difference. And hope the rest of the day stays calm.

Trudy what a great hike. And to get in all that swimming! I have been hearing about the horrible weather in the north. So glad that Heather's power stayed on. Have fun painting. And now I am so cheering for Boston so they can put the hurt on the Lightning. And I won't get into the refs but it has been horrendous!

Rae thanks for popping in. Glad to see your are taking care of yourself so you can help take care of Bailey.

Jean hope your weather is improving!

Felis I love the sound of lazying in the sun with the dogs! If we ever get sun or warm weather I will be trying that.

Have a great day all!

This morning we had a coating of snow but that is gone now and the sun is maybe coming out. Yesterday was pretty nice but still chilly and we mostly just did chores. It was fun the last two nights seeing the Indians playing baseball in Puerto Rico. 22 years ago they played a pre-season game there while we were there on a birding trip. I still have a photocopy of the local newspaper article about the game in which one of our Puerto Rican players hit a home run. He is Carlos Baerga who was at the Tuesday night game. And Tuesday one of our current Puerto Rican players, Francisco Lindor, hit a home run. Too bad last night it went to 16 innings and they lost 2-1.

Rae, hope you do keep dropping by. It's a pretty place with all the nice pages being done and might be cheering. Sorry to hear the scary story about B. nearly escaping but glad it didn't quite happen. Keeping up the health routine is clearly good for you. Give Taz a treat for us.

Felis, it sounds so wonderful for you to be out enjoying the air with the dog. Maybe I'm jealous, but it feels good to know someone has real spring.

Chris, that is just nuts with Gary's strips and insulin. Being nuts and detrimental to his health makes it perfectly normal in our current world. Hope you got a good word on Floyd at the vet.

Trudy, good luck with the Bruins tonight! Yesterday's hike sounds wonderful and yes do get the page done to share the loveliness. I fully agree waiting on discussing the painting is the way to go. Enjoy the pool and painting and all today, things where the temps don't really matter.

Nancy, sorry the Devils lost last night but as you say, they won't be swept. And you still have lots of hockey playoffs to watch, just not the ones you hoped for. I'm sure the call with your sister was cheering and someday it will be warmer, I think.

Good morning, ladies. We had a quiet night lounging in our chairs (stayed home from hospital) and watched TV after dinner and a visit with Jen who also came home to take a break for a few hours. We were both nodding off around 10 so went to bed. Got up this morning and made my tumeric, ginger, lemon and honey tea to start off my morning. I really like it. I switch over to coffee after that but like that I'm starting the day with healthy ingredients going into my body first. This wkend I will buy lots of tumeric and ginger to freeze so always have some on hand. What got me interested in doing this was because of the Trader Joe tumeric tea I bought awhile back and since I love the flavor, decided to make my own and add in other healthy ingredients too.

A new thing Jen came up with to do with Bailey is cut out pics from magazines and make collages with them. I have some kids scissors that cut different edgings so will bring those up for her along with some of my old magazines. We'll see how she does with that and if she enjoys doing it.

Chris - so sorry to hear of G's trouble getting diabetes strips & insulin covered. I remember how much Jen had to pay for B's, definitely not cheap. Glad to hear Floyd is cooperating for treatment and hope that S gets a good checkup from cardiologist.

Trudy - yes, someday we will actually plan to visit and I bet we'll never stop talking LOL. I bet that hike yesterday was wonderful, the weather sure cooperated.

Nancy - I agree, a hit in the head should not be called a penalty. Enjoy your chat with your sister.

Jean, Felis, everyone else...hope all is well. I am getting back to work as I need to finish before I can go back to the hospital this afternoon. Have a wonderful day, everyone.
