Hey there O-Zies. Good morning and happy weekend!

First off, I have some good news. I am in a (slightly) better mood today. It is just a fraction better, but I will take that over the continuing slide down. So I am reveling in the steps forward! I slept a bit better, again woke up at 4 am but was able to get back to sleep. That helps. The fresh air and change of scenery was also really nice yesterday. We got to see the family of deer on the trail. Mama, Dad, and two babies. Gosh, they are so darn cute.
When I got back here, I chatted with Caitlyn about her classes and she really likes the professors and the second class that she had was laid-back and friendly- and no tech issues. Whew! I was nervous that the bad experience in the first class was going to color her perceptions of the rest of them. Emotional throwbacks to when my kids were in high school.

Caitlyn and I are running over to the FP this morning. No plans for the rest of the day. I have to call my mom and email my BFF. BFF texted me yesterday and I was so wrapped up in my own bad mood I was no help or support for her. I should touch base with her to apologize for being a shitty friend. And I have to ask my parents how they feel about coming to my house for an outdoor "party" with Arlene, ILs and us. It was supposed to just be Arlene, us, and my parents but Gary felt that it would be rude to not invite his parents. We would be celebrating the kids' graduations and Leah and Cait's birthdays. ILs also have Sept b-days. I felt that it would be safer to keep their b-days separate but my family thinks it should be together. I have to touch base to see if everyone if comfortable with that. It should be as long as we are outside and wear masks.

So that's about it. I hope that all of you have a great weekend, if you are in the US- enjoy the extra day off and thank the labor unions for it!

Nancy- I bet you are thrilled to have so many Game 7 series. Enjoy the TdF this weekend.
To watch Roswell, NM do you have to see the original Roswell first? Is that also on Netflix?
Tell your DH that I am sending good luck vibes. My niece is starting student teaching on Tuesday and she and her lead teacher are having trouble getting everything working right- and of course it is for Kdg. That has to be so difficult to do remote. I know that your DH teaches grad students, does he have undergrad as well?

Trudy- Happy Labor Day to my Canadian friends too! NJ has been putting out statements to remember SD Guidleines this weekend too. I hope that everyone is your area stays safe and smart and that you don't have an increase in cases.
Thatis great news about your MIL especially that she is willing to take the meds and that she didn't have any side effects from the strokes.
I found out yesterday that my mom apparently had a blood clot in her leg on top of everything else. She is on Plavix now.
Do you have a list of things to discuss with her and FIL tomorrow? Always a good idea to go into things like that with a solid plan. I tend to get sidetracked unless I have my list.

Kay- stay cool this weekend and very smart to stay home as much as you can. Enjoy your books.
The next time you talk to your sister, let her know that her extended O-Fam is sending her best wishes. I hope that she is feeling stronger every day and that there are no long term effects. I am so angry at people who don't think that this is a "real" disease and don't care about people who are high risk.

Jean and Felis- check in soon, hope you are all doing well!

Love to all of you!

Had a hard time falling asleep last night - then slept in until after 8AM. Going to be another scorcher today so will be hibernating again. 2 more days of HOT temps... then are you ready for this???... suppose to have snow on Tuesday/Wednesday!!! Yikes - from summer to winter overnight! I need to dig out the faucet covers for the outside ones and get them on just in case. I feel like Mother Nature is in a bad mood.

Hey... if we have cold temps then, I could use the oven and bake a meat loaf, baked potato, and make an apple crisp dessert. Oh... that sounds so good. Still have the blanket/comforter handy so ready for the cold nights.

Chris, glad your mom is on meds for blood clots. Hope you have a good time celebrating... but stay safe and wear your masks. <<< hugs >>>

Didn't get to the laundry yesterday so have to do it today...

I'm still here but after the big excitement of the rare bird last week it seemed like nothing ever happened. We did have a nice movie to watch one night. We have a streaming service called Kanopy through our library with 10 free views per month. Searching for bluegrass I found one of a train trip with concerts from spring of 2011 of Mumford and Sons and two other bands. It was delightful. We had such fun watching but wondering how often we can say we actually had fun. Yesterday I also did something sort of neat. The genealogy site FamilySearch is provided (free) through the LDS church and they have digitized an astounding quantity of records. They provide access to them with contracts with the actual holders of the records. Sometimes that means you can't see them from home but can go to one of their Family History Centers or an affiliate library. I had a small task list of items like that to view but no center open to visit. Our historical society library is an affiliate now open Friday to 4 patrons by appointment but all I need is access to their internet connection. So I tried doing it from my car outside - and it worked! It felt weird, but I got to see the records. DH thought it would be interesting to see so he drove and got to people watch the area. Anything to get out of the house. Then we birded a little on the way home.

We've had a lot of nice weather but today is a little cool so I'm wearing fleece.

Chris, sound like you mom is really doing well these days. Hope you have a wonderful SD party with everyone. Cait's class going so well must have made her feel so much better. Give her a hug and tell her all of us here know she will do well even in these times. So glad you are feeling a little better too.

Kay, right this minute I think I would take your heat, but keep that winter stuff away! Still your food plans sound wonderful.

Grateful
for birds and birding
little things in genealogy

Yup, it feels like Autumn again. Chilly but sunny. I am wearing one of Gary's old long-sleeve T-shirts and it is literally falling apart and I keep getting my thumbs caught in the holes in the wristbands. I have to find some inexpensive ones online because I really don't want to spend money on a t-shirt that is only going to be worn around the house when I am cold. Oh yeah. That is about 90% of the time between now and next May! :pound:

I had a slightly better than OK day yesterday and that is a good thing. Cait and I had a nice time chatting a bit in the car. We spoke to my mom and she is ok with having a backyard gathering as long as no one is upset if they get uncomfortable and leave early.I decided that we will stagger arrival times. My parents can come up an hour before everyone else and can leave when they are ready. So- masks, spread out, limited time together. That should be safe enough.

I texted my BFF and she told me I did;t need to apologize, that she understood how I was feeling. Her dog is a year older than Ray and he isn't doing well at all. They are getting closer to making "the decision" and my goodness, we all know that is never easy. I haven't seen her since January and I miss her so much. Caitlyn and I both said how much we miss hugs.

I spent an hour or so outside yesterday, starting to clip down my spent black-eyed Susans and the mint that has overtaken the back of the garden area. I usually am more on top of cutting that back but the bees were so happy when the mint flowered. I just let it do its thing this year.

Today should be quiet, I have to clean out my fridge and freezer and then start on my food shopping list. Maybe do some more years work. Sounds like a plan!

HAGD!!

Kay. Just stop. :lalala: Snow? After record heat? OMG, that's crazy. I know that your area has crazy weather shifts but that seems waaaaaay over the top. I think you are on the right track though with the food plan if it gets cold. That is the one good thing about cooler weather- the food!
Any updates on your sister?

Jean- I am sorry that things have been sort of blah for you too. I totally get that. But please, let us know that things are ok, because if I don't hear from my O-Fam for a while, I start to worry! (That means you too, Felis!!)
That is really awesome news about being able to access the LDS files. I have to chuckle a bit over you sitting in your car to get their wi-fi. LOL
Stay warm and cozy!
And thank you, I will pass your hug along to Caitlyn. I said the same thing to my niece, she is such an amazing person and teacher that even with the craziness of student teaching remotely, she is going to do great. And you will not be surprised to hear that Caitlyn is very exciting that she can "attend class" with rats on her shoulder. :D
The one professor already said to the class that he is looking forward to getting to "meet" their pets and family members. He got to see one student's horse during a summer class! I wonderif he would want to meet Rita? hmmm.

Morning my O family! I am just popping in to say I will be MIA for a couple of days as we spend some time with MIL and FiL trying to figure out what they are expecting from all of us for the coming years. MIL is not doing as well as she is making out to be and refuses to use her walker and is having memory lapses. We are going to go up today to help out with a few chores and some meal prep. The property is huge and way too much for them to deal with alone. Sorry I have not been here much, but you are all such an important part of each day for me. I will be back here in a few days! to you all!

Morning, gals... woke up at 5AM from a dream of trying to get hubby to give me a phone number so I could talk to him when he is not with me. In my dream, he had given me a huge bunch of keys but none for where he is. Crazy as I know he is gone... guess I am feeling the stress and wanting his support during this time. So I am in a bit of a blue mood today.

Well, the weather forecast is a bit different - depending on which channel I watch. One says some snow in the mountains east of us on Tues night into Wednesday... while the other one says it will come in west of us on Tuesday night and may get light amount of snow here in the valley too. Won't last long either way but this is a surprise to have it hit in early September. I will enjoy the cooler temps anyway.

Haven't talked to my sister again so not sure how she is doing. It takes a lot out of her when she talks on the phone so spacing my calls out. Will check on her on Tuesday.

Trudy, so sorry to hear that your MiL is not doing so well. Hope you can figure out some help for them. Take care...

Chris, sounds like a good plan on staggering the arrival times for the gathering. Hope you have good weather for it. Have to LOL over you not thinking you need some long sleeve tee shirts... yep - fall and winter weather is just around the corner.

It's still sunny but I'm sitting here feeling cold again. Nothing special on for today. Tomorrow will by DH's usual H&S despite the holiday as no one else is going anywhere either.

Chris, what a delightful picture I have of Cait online with the rats. We see a lot of cats and a few dogs in meetings but the idea of seeing Rita made me laugh. Good idea having the Ps come early. Bet it'll be a fun time even without the hugs.

Trudy, so sorry things are that serious with MiL. Getting things set up for them will be so necessary, but they aren't going to like being in that position I'd guess. Good luck with all that entails. Take care of yourself too though!

Kay, poignant dream for sure. Can see why you'd feel blue, or even more so than usual. Hope the coming weather is of the milder form, but hopefully won't last long anyway.

Nancy, we were disappointed in the Flyers game 7 as they never seemed to get into it. Hope you're also enjoying the TdF.

Cheryl, can't imagine the stress of a crowded with boxes rental while waiting for your house. Good luck with keeping calm.

Felis, who did the Sunday shopping? and how's the weather?

Grateful
for all the things online...meetings, books, movies
sunshine

My lOvely, lOvely friends,
you are dear to my heart more than physical acquaintance that I have here and I'll miss your company! But fate throw my boat in unexpected directions through life storms, where my heart is not skilful enough to can navigate it properly. There is not left anything I want to scrap, nothing to say right now. I'll take a break. Maybe I will can to come back for the December's party, or maybe for the O bday, who knows, maybe even later. Don't worry!
I wish you all the best and if you needs me do not hesitate to find me via PM or at Instagram, but I'll not follow the forum for a while.
Kisses and hugs! ::grouphug
