Brrr, it is so cold again this morning. 10 days ago, I was sitting on the beach in 85* weather. (heaven!) Right now, it is 42* and the wind makes it feel worse. I said to Caitlyn yesterday that it's upsetting that as soon as I get cold, I am so cranky. The dogs kept wanting to go outside and I hate having to be out there with them.
Guess the only thing I can do is count the days until spring. That's not too long, only 6 months #cry

The highlight of my day yesterday was that I scrapped two pages for upcoming releases and I love them both. When was the last time I said that? :D
I looked on my computer for the bride photos of Cait and Dani and they aren't on it. I am going to have to look for the actual photos and scan them.
Sam fried up a bunch of eggplant slices and sent a tray over with Scot the other day- I made eggplant parm with them last night and she and Scott had dinner with us too. Team Sam might be an official thing next month-- I'll keep you posted if/when that happens :D

I am going to the FP this morning (please have coffee, please!)
After that, not too much happening. I guess I will start to look for some of those pictures

@LSlycord I bet the very air in your home feels more "right" today with Syd being home. I had to chuckle about Shaun not wanting to admit that he misses her too. ♥
Which hurricane is the one that you are watching, Ian? Or Gaston? There are a ton of them in the Atlantic ATM - hurricanes/TS/Depressions. The NJ shore has had rip current warnings from Fiona passing by.
Cripes- I just looked again, it looks like Ian is going to hit all up and down FL. I hope it turns west and that you can still go on your vacation. Hope you were able to stock up on your coffee too! Have a fab time with the family!!
It felt *wonderful* being with my friend and her kids. We joke that I knew she was pg with Max before she did (it is true-- I told her that she needed to take a test LOL). That our girls still think of each other as sisters, although life has taken them in different directions-- makes both of us moms so happy.

@BrightEyes If you have the pic of your "brides on skateboards" you have to scrap and share it with us!!!
Did you end up going out to the base? I would have bailed on it if it was raining. Of course, it doesn't take much for me to bail on things either LOL

@bcgal00 I am not sure that a CT scan is a good distraction on Bailey's birthday- but if it helps take the edge off a little, it is a good thing. You know we are here for you if you need us, even if you don't-- we are here. (((((((hugs)))))))))). You know we are a PM away too, me, Cheryl, any of us
I have been trying to do sit-ups every day so my stomach doesn't look so poochy in my skirt for the engagement party- 9 times out of 10, W has to come over and slobber on my face too. Have fun with your doggies too

@tanteva I am sure that your scrapping doesn't suck, but I know how it feels when you are convinced it all is terrible. I am going through a "good mojo" period so I am sending you some extra vibes ~~~~
It sounds like being at work is a really good thing for you mentally, hope it helps a lot!

@Cherylndesigns Did the pups come back all prettied up with bows on?
Whew, so glad that your computer is better today. I couldn't live without Grammarly. I would seem (even more) incoherent without it.
I like your Irma shirt. I was wearing a Sandy 12-12-12 t-shirt yesterday ;)
It was Scott's, he went to the Robin Hood's charity concert at MSG with LL and Arlene, it was a really cool surprise. I can't believe that was 10 years ago.

I better get my day started.
make it a great one! xo

Good morning! It is so good to have my family home! It just feels so right! And it makes me feel like the world is just fine...even though we most likely have some effects of a hurricane coming next week. Good grief! We may be postponing that road trip again...but who really knows? However, I am absolutely not going to waste any time feeling bad about anything...because I have my Sydney home. And it was 66* this morning...what a beautiful day!

@faerywings yes Ian is our new enemy!

@BrightEyes I have to laugh at the idea of your girls as "skateboard brides"! Hope you got your Rx or that the rain goes away so that it won't be a bad drive over.

@bcgal00 glad that you've got the CT scheduled quickly. Love that the dogs always think it's about them. Oh, Mom wants to play with me now. Here I come. Don't know what I would do without the dogs.

@tanteva I can relate to what you are feeling about the working. I'm still grateful for the time off that I have right now...but I don't think I can do it forever. And, your scrapping is ALWAYS special so don't put that pressure on yourself!! We love seeing your stuff here no matter what you think of it!

@Cherylndesigns LOL---did I ever tell you guys about my only trip to Jacksonville before our house hunting trip 3 1/2 years ago? I earned a "I survived Hurricane Floyd" t-shirt. I need to do a page about that...even though I have no pictures. Hope Steph and Ash (do I have the names right?) are getting prepared. Don't think there is any chance that this one misses us totally.

Ok...going to go make some breakfast and wait for college girl to roll out of bed! Talk to you later.

Not sure it is a good morning... back to waking up at 4AM! Looks like it is a pattern... sleep till 7 one morning then awake way too early the next! Yep, fall temps are here - 54*F here this morning. Had to pull out my long sleeve robe.

I did make it over to the base to pick up Rx and groceries yesterday. The commissary had turkeys for 68 cents a pound so I got one and put it in the freezer for Thanksgiving. Did a real happy dance as the Base Exchange had a purple plush small bathmat that matched the set I already have. The store I bought the set from originally had discontinued them and the small mat I had had deteriorated several months ago. Was surprised to see gas price on the base was about 10 cents/gallon higher than I can get it elsewhere. I need to that today if I go out anywhere. Got home right before the rain started. Only lasted a short while - so was able to do a couple more errands. Found a couple of tees on sale and was delighted to discover that the tangerine/white one goes with the tangerine leggings set and the blue/green/pink print one looks good with the blue/green cropped pants. The winter sweatpants/sweatshirts are back. Found a raspberry set in my size- whoo-whee. And I got coffee!!! One good piece of news is that the widening of Westside Rd is almost finished. It is a quick shortcut to get to the main road that the mall is on. They have been working on it for almost a year.

I don't seem to have the brides on skateboards photo on the computer. I am sure it is in one of the albums. I have a ton of photos that I need to scan in so that one will have to wait until I get around doing some scanning. For some reason... the printer doesn't want to do do a wifi print from the computer right now. If it keeps having problems, I will go back to corded hookup with it.

Back later to do personals.

Good morning all,

Chris @faerywings your eggplant parm sounds SO good - I woke up hungry this am and now I'm really hungry. Go Team Sam! Hard to believe that it was one week ago you were on the beach. Time goes so fast - it will be spring before you know it. LOL It's 73 here at the moment - still pretty warm, but we only had one bad month last winter. Hoping it continues. And I agree - It's an easier life with Grammarly!!! When I thought I'd lost it, I panicked. My typing has gotten so bad - I type fast and make all kinds of typos anymore.

Linda @LSlycord you got the names right - lol. We all have SO many names to keep track of. (Especially me.) They hadn't named the storm that's going to SWFL as of last night - I haven't checked this am. They're just calling it Tropical Depression 9. It's going to be a potentially severe storm, the way it looks - supposed to make landfall next Wednesda.y. That's too funny that you earned aan "I survived Hurricane Floyd" shirt and Chris @faerywings funny that you had your Hurricane Sandy shirt on yesterday. You HAVE to have the shirts to show it! It's a "hurricane thang".

I think I'm going to go get some tea (I switched from coffee to tea - GASP!) now and try to wake up. Happy Saturday all.

Happy Weekend everyone,

@faerywings I awoke to weather in the forty's today too. Brrr . . . Reading about your eggplant Parmesan made my mouth water. I haven't had that dish in years. I am sensitive to eggplant, so never eat it, unless it's made into EP Parm. Congrats on your layouts, I seem to be somewhat in a "not-liking" my stuff rut right now. I hope you were able to get coffee. The brand I use to use, Folgers, has gone up to over $18 per container. So, I'm experimenting with cheaper brands, and not having coffee as often, filling in with tea, which I have a huge stash.

@LSlycord So glad you have your family home. I do not miss Florida hurricanes. I do hope this one isn't too severe.

@BrightEyes I understand about waking early, Kay. I awake every morning around 4:30. This morning I actually went back to bed, but couldn't go back to sleep, so gave up and got up.

@Cherylndesigns I use Grammerly too, but not sure I can continue to afford it, with other expenses rising so much lately. I've switched to mostly tea these days since I have a huge stash of tea.

Not a lot going on with me; just busy with daily stuff. The apartment complex where I live had state inspections last Wednesday and everything must be in compliance with HUD. The manager always panics and sends around a notice of all the stuff we have to have done in our apartments before they show up. They only choose five apartments, but you don't know if yours is chosen until they knock on the door. You might know, I was in the middle of decluttering and stuff was scattered EVERYWHERE. Plus, I'm still having some leg problems. (@faerywings Chris, the Epsom salt baths have helped tremendously. Thanks for suggesting that.) Luckily my granddaughters were both off work one day and came over, carried my boxes of donations downstairs for me, and even took them to Goodwill. I still have papers, that sort of stuff to declutter but will do that bit by bit. I cleaned everything else, a super deep cleaning, as my place doesn't get too bad since there is only me. The inspectors didn't choose my apartment, which is fine by me, and I have been enjoying the lightness that delcuttering always brings and the sparkling cleanness of everything else. :)

Talk to you later . . .

Kay @BrightEyes we cross posted. I'm glad you got your errands run. How can it be so much colder there than here??? And what's with you waking up a 4 am again??? Yikes. Your new clothes sound so cute - I love it when I find leggings and tees that work together. I found a cute long sleeved t-shirt last weekend. It's that "Girlie Girl" brand - so cute - I always buy a long sleeved t-shirt when I find them - they're so nice for winter. I love the colors you got - raspberry - yum.

Chris @faerywings I forgot to tell you about the dogs. They looked so cute when they got home and I know they felt better! They were both shaggy dogs. LOL They love this groomer and we feel so comfortable when they're with her all day. The mobile groomer was convenient, but we argued every time about HOW she was going to cut them. The was a "shave them down" and I'm a "don't shave them at all". The last time she was here, I got a vibe that she wasn't very happy with me, but oh well - I AM the customer.

I might be back later. Adrienne and I are going into town after a while, not sure what time.

Good morning ladies. Quick in and out this morning. My oldest daughter came into town last night, for the wkend. We sat around chatting and then hot tub later in the evening. This morning we will head out for a hike with the dogs for a few hours, trying out a new trail, to a lake we haven't been to yet.

Enjoyed a 2.5 hr stroll along the river yesterday, met a bunch of people that walk there regularly with their dogs and agreed to join them a few times a week at 10 a.m. I can't believe that I keep finding these amazing places for walking/hiking with the dogs.

@faerywings We were close, woke up to 45 degrees at 7:00 a.m. It's dry weather, so it doesn't feel that cold.

@LSlycord Yes, it is always about the dogs :) They have already had me laying on the floor with them twice this morning for playtime and I've only been awake just over an hour LOL.

I need to get more coffee and hop in the shower before we head out for our adventure.

Good morning, Betty Jo. I thought I'd say hello to you before I move on to work on a couple of layouts. I'm kind of in a slump too - I don't know why. I trashed one lo completely the other day and started over. My problem is when I try to do something that's not my typical style - sometimes it just doesn't work out for me. I also get my mind set on using certain photos and sometimes, I've had to change my mind on that, too. I have been having fun with the new releases from CK - the new guest designs that are very bright and colorful. I think they'll be in her store in the next day or so. I've loved playing with the Superhero kits and templates.

Honestly, I've switched to tea because coffee started not agreeing with me. I think it was the Half n Half, but I can't drink coffee without that. I'm getting very sensitive to dairy - UGH. I was drinking my coffee and getting stomach pains, so I decided to switch to tea. The first few days were hard - I've been a coffee drinker for years - I was a little jittery, but I just made my tea stronger. I'm like you, I have a big supply of tea. Adrienne drinks tea, so we've had a supply for her anyway. She likes English Black Tea, but my favorite is good ole Lipton. I fix my tea in the microwave with the teabag in it and don't take the teabag out. It's got good amount of caffein in it that way.

I love the Republic of Tea line and have a couple of tins of Downton Abby round tea bags. I haven't unsealed them yet, though.

I make my own herbal tea to drink every night to help me sleep, too. I make one teabag of the herb concoction and a bag of Sleepy Time Extra - really works for me.

Two mugs of coffee down and I am enjoying the last hour or so of a quiet home before all of the kids wake up and my parents descend with bagels. We are celebrating Caitlyn's birthday with them and I have a full house. Which you all know I *love.* Scott is calling in "sick" today, he still has two sick days left and his job is over in 3 weeks. Sam doesn't have to go to work until later. Cait and Tom are here, of course, and Dani is stopping over too. It's like allll of my kids together ♥
Sidenote: I asked Scott if it was going to feel weird with Sam being here for bagels since LL was here for 9 1/2 years... and he looked at me as if I were nuts. A very good sign for where he is at and I hope for Sam as well.

I froze my patootie off at the FP, I had on 4 layers of shirts and a sweatshirt. I couldn't bring myself to break out my winter coat but I should have. But I got my coffee and dog food so I was happy!
I was in a bit of a mood yesterday so I decided to clean my house. Nothing major just dusted, vacuumed, and wiped down the bathrooms. The kids are trying to get Gary to get rid of junk in the attic and he is resisting. I am so tired of piles of crud everywhere. And then to top the day off on a s***** note, Gary noticed the septic is leaking again. &%$#^&
(Pun intended haha, trying to make light of a bad situation)

But this morning will be a good one.

Hope yours is too!

Good morning. My kids are both home (well technically, Shaun is already up and at work) and my heart feels full. So I totally relate to how you feel @faerywings. So glad that Scott is over L*@#% and I hope that Sam feels the same way. Glad that your parents are coming to celebrate...sounds like a great time!

There are a few lingering worries...like Hurricane Ian, although the models are better for us this morning. Should know more tonight. But, in the meantime, Syd and I headed to Walmart. She got a case of water and two 24 packs of some flavored water that she likes that she can only find at Walmart and a case of Gatorade. So she and her roommates will be hydrated if the effects of the hurricane kill the electricity---probably won't because they are in the middle of the state but better safe than sorry. She seems to have succumbed to whatever illness is being passed around Gainesville...she is quite proud that she is the last of the 4 roommates to get it.

Shaun has another UTI so we have scheduled the procedure at Mayo Clinic to remove the cyst. That is scheduled for 10/6 but I am trying to put off worrying about that for awhile. And Andie isn't feeling well. She has been a little off all week and she seems worse this morning. Lethargic, no appetite...I don't know. We may need to take her to the vet.

So, all of that to say that the road trip is a bit up in the air. But, my mama's heart is full and I'm focused on the love rather than the worry.

@LSlycord I saw that Ian is moving to the west, is that good for you?
I saw your FB that Syd says it's boring being home. Hahahaha! That is a *good* sign, that she is having fun at school. When is she going back, tonight?

@BrightEyes Ugh and more ugh about your sleep patterns, I hope it straightens out.
Good score on the bathmat and clothes. Sheesh, that construction has been going on forever, it will be nice when it is completed.
My township sent out a notice that the state is redoing a bridge on the main highway that runs through our town, starting in a few months and lasting up to two years. It is going to be a nightmare. Remind me when I complain about it that construction eventually ends.

Funny story -- Wed. morning, Caitlyn called Gary in a panic. She was driving to work and there were 2 different detours that literally had her going in circles and she couldn't get out of it. For a half hour, she was just making the same loop between the two towns that didn't coordinate the detours! She finally got out of it, found a Walgreens, and called Gary to see if he could help her find another way to get to her job. It took him a while, but he finally figured one out, sent the map to her phone and she was able to get in.
I really hope you can find the brides on 'boards photos

@Cherylndesigns The eggplant was sooooo good. Scott was giving me grief, he had asked that morning if I needed anything done, so I told him if he was running out, stop at ShopRite and get some ricotta so I can make the eggplant parm for dinner. He didn't want to go to ShopRite (can't blame him, I didn't either!) but he admitted that it was worth it when he went back for more at dinner.
I hope all of the FL fam is not going to be in any of the current hurricane paths. It was so quiet in Aug and now it's really hopping :(

@Betty Jo That stinks that you can't eat eggplant, I know it is not good for anyone on an anti-inflammatory diet. But so delish
I hope that you get out of the rut, your LOs are always incredible and beautiful
Iy yi yiiii! That would have sent me into a panic, thinking that inspectors could come into my house. I am sure that they are looking for electric/plumbing/etc but I would take it to heart if my house wasn't clean.
True story: Gary had gone into insulin shock and I couldn't get him out of it so I had to call 911. I was apologizing to the EMTs that the house was a mess as they were rolling him out the door. #crazy
That's not as bad as when Gary was having a seizure and my mom was trying to tell him she had to move furniture first bwahaha!!

I am sooo happy that the Epsom salts are helping, I hope the leg pain goes away completely soon!

Cheryl-- boo on the mobile groomer! Glad that the pups all came home looking sweet! Although how could they not?

@bcgal00 How fantastic that DD came to visit! I can't tell you how it's reassuring to me that even with the pain you are in you have the *energy* to be hiking that much. The exhaustion you had last month was freaking me out, it is so not like you.
You have the best place to live for dogs! Drs-- eh, not so much. But happy dogs-- yes!

Better get in the shower, I have to wash my hair and it is now cold where I have to blow it dry instead of leaving it curly. :(

xoxoxo

@faerywings yes Ian moving west is very good for us. And I think that the path has improved for @Cherylndesigns family as well. What a funny story about Cait. I got caught in some roundabouts the other day and could not figure out how to get where I was going. I finally (with the aid of GPS) got out of it...but it was crazy!

@BrightEyes your sleep patterns must be driving you crazy! I absolutely hate it when my sleep is messed up! And knowing how expensive everything is now, that was probably a really good idea to grab that turkey while on sale.

@Betty Jo oh the apartment inspection sounds awful...although with the help of those two granddaughters, it sounds like it had a silver lining. Did your brother ever make it to your place for a visit?

@bcgal00 I love that you are finding people to walk the dogs with! And I saw photos of you with both your girls on Facebook. I'm sure that was such a treat for you!

@Cherylndesigns I think that we may have finally found a groomer we like. We don't have both dogs done at once...it is just too much! Andie never looks much different...just smells good. But Hayden has a poodle coat and she definitely looks different. I told Syd that she had been groomed and sent her a picture of her face. Syd approved of that but wanted to see her tail. When I showed that, Sydney gave 100% approval so I think we get to keep this groomer. And, since Shaun works there, she gives us a discount too. That's worth a lot.

Ok, waiting for the college girl to wake up. Guess I'll hang in the gallery for just a bit! Enjoy your Sunday's ladies.

Good morning all.

It's still warm here - but it's going to start cooling off next week. Chris @faerywings I can't believe how cold it is there already. Brrrrrrr. Adrienne and I went into town yesterday and the weather is just beautiful - it was a little chilly and I never know what to wear. I layer too when it gets that way. My arms get cold, so I wore a long-sleeved shirt over my T-shirt and never took it off. Sounds like a fun, family day today! I have a kitchen towel that says "Happiness is having my whole family here. I have a love of kitchen towels - funny, I know, but I look for them everywhere. Adrienne has inherited my "love" she has carried on the tradition. She buys me the cutest towels. One of my favorites says "If you knew my family, you'd understand". I've gotten a lot of laughs over that one. It's a family joke - you can't wipe your hands on them. We have towels that you CAN use but towels you can't use. Roger thinks that's so funny. "They're just for looks". BWAHAHA

I got another find yesterday. We went into one of our new vintage stores and I found a small window frame with a small wreath hanging on it for $32!! It's like that bigger window frame that I got last Christmas, with the big Christmas wreath hanging on it. I showed you pictures of it. It's in the living room and I change out the wreath for the seasons. This one is just smaller, and I hung it in the kitchen. It's SO cute! You all know how much I love wreaths, too.

Linda @LSlycord it's especially hard to find a groomer out here. We had THE best groomer in FL - they were awesome. We found this woman (that we took the dogs back to) when we first came out here. Then she got very sick with Covid and I guess she almost died. She was shut down for quite a long time. In the meantime, we found this mobile groomer and Chris @faerywings boo to her is right. She honestly didn't want to "mess" with Doodles. She always wanted to nearly shave them, and she and I never saw eye-to-eye and I knew the last time she was here that she'd quit on us. The other factor was - she had a converted small school bus, and it WAS really hard for her to get it up here. We live on very rough terrain and the road, at one point, drops off into a ravine on one side. I get it but is she not used to rough roads??? I mean we DO live in the foothills of the mountains. Geeze. She charged an arm and a leg besides.

Linda @LSlycord we only have one dog - Adrienne's dog goes to the groomer with ours (Daisy) and she's only about 20 pounds. Lila's a miniature Golden Doodle and Daisy is a 50-pound Labradoodle. I know what you mean about their tails - I'm SO particular about their tails, too. DON"T cut my dogs tail too much - Daisy has a "plume tail" and it's SO cute. Grooming Doodles is an art and a lot of groomers don't want to mess with them. Anyway, we're so glad to be back with the original one!

Looks like Florida is battening down - you never know exactly where the storms are going to go. They think they do, but it's a surprise sometimes. I just hope Ft. Myers doesn't get a direct hit. DeSantis has declared a State of Emergency for a big portion of the state and Lee County is among them. I'm sure Syd will be safe where she is, but like you said, you have to be prepared for anything. That's all you can do. I'm sure you have a generator - we always did. There probably won't be one to have at this point. Steph said they're closing up where she works next week - they've already made the call to close.

I'm going to get off here now and see what I need to do today - it's getting toward the end of the month. Hope everybody has a good Sunday.

Good afternoon. I was out for a photo walk this morning with my oldest daughter before she heads back home to the Vancouver area. She's gone now and the house is quiet now. Everyone is off on their own, Jen is downstairs binging Netflix, D is out on the back porch watching youtube videos and I'm upstairs on my PC and the dogs are napping here in 3rd floor common area.

I think energy-wise I'm back to normal, I hiked 3 hrs on Fri, 4 hrs yesterday and 1.5 hrs today. Feels good.
