Holy MOLY! What a week.
:holysheep:

For real... it was only a week ago that we helped Scott move out. A week! And what a week, so much crammed into it. No wonder I was really to fall on my face yesterday afternoon. I didn't but it was close.

First up was a quick visit to Scott's house. Gary helped him mount the TV in the BR and he made me a cup of coffee and a donut. Normally, I wouldn't have had a donut but it was sweet with him offering to feed me. ♥
I took some pics too.

OK, I think that's enough!
He needs a little more of his own decor and family photos. At least from a mom's perspective. he does have a few pics of him and Caitlyn. But his room here was filled with nature knickknacks, cool rocks, and pinecones- that kind of stuff. I think once he brings some of that stuff over it will feel more like "his" IYKWIM.
House update for Caitlyn too. They are stepping back from buying something at this point. Interest rates and low inventory are insurmountable at this point. They are going to save as much as they can for a few months and then in the spring, they'll look for something to rent. Hopefully, a year down the road, the market will be more stable and affordable.

I took so much longer cleaning for my friend. I felt bad. I kick him out of the house and he hangs out with Gary here most weeks. I try to move as fast as I can while being as safe as I can. LOL! I am mostly unpacked, 2 loads of laundry are done., they just need to be folded. Checked in with my mom, and she said that she napped a little while but felt pretty darn good. She walked more in the three days we were away than she probably walked in the three weeks prior combined.

Today, I am off to the FP and then I have to come up with a menu for the party which is in another week.
I am gonna have to pace myself or I am gonna be toast!:gravedigger:

hope you all have a fab day!!

BTW- I am sorry if my communication skills are wonky, my brain is still running in more directions than I am capable of handling. It's bouncing around quite a bit! Hope that you can follow along for most of it.
:bouncing:

@LSlycord Did you get all of the info you needed from the surgeon yesterday? I hope so, I can't imagine all of the loose ends you have right now.
It feels so weird to think of pumpkin picking in FL, probably wearing shorts! I hope you have a wonderful time even if it won't be the same as in IA. There is something with the crisp air that will be missing today. My town's fall festival is next Saturday and my plans are to hide in my house. :hiding1: Last year we had stop-dead traffic on my teeny side street and took me almost an hour to get Caitlyn to a party that was a couple of miles from here.
The building/land back home is speeding along too.HAHAHA! I love the upside-down banana- I hadn't seen him before and I love it! I feel ya, sister... :D

@vickyday That's so scary about Carolyn. And Mark. No wonder your IBS is acting up. I know it is easier said than done, but try to get some good deep breaths throughout the day. I learned that if you take one deep breath, and then a second one on top of it, it helps the alveoli (think that's the right term) to really open up. It's supposed to be a "better" deep breathing technique. Even if it is not physically better, it makes me concentrate that much more on my breath which in turn helps.
Sorry that the yarn isn't working for the blanket. Maybe it will make a nice hat for you?

@BrightEyes It's been great that you have had time to pop in here in the mornings ♥ I tried to do that one morning on my phone and it was awful, I couldn't see a darn thing.
*fingers crossed that the dishwasher works until you can find a replacement* I am really happy with the one we picked out. It is a Bosch and it holds much more than the old one did. Super quiet too.

Many, many good thoughts to you and Trudy about your shoulders. My dad's non-replaced shoulder is really bad and he is going to his Dr on Tuesday to see if he can get that one replaced. He knows that his age is going to be bumping against the elective surgery requirements so he wants it done ASAP. I see how much pain he is in so I feel for you both. (Note to self: do NOT forget the calcium supplements today)

@taxed4ever Woo hoo for a good night's sleep!! And double woo hoo that the meds are helping!! Good luck with the mouse/keyboard combinations. Can you program your own keyboard shortcuts for the OS? I know that I can with some software but never tried it with Windows itself. Have a nice time with the ILs!

@Cherylndesigns Sweet Marley! Aren't you a pretty girl? ♥ Thank you for giving her belly rubs from me! I saw this on FB so your guess is as good as mine to the veracity of it-- but supposedly there are nerves in dogs' ears that travel through their bodies. Rubbing or scratching the ears releases endorphins. So go ahead and do that for me too.

I had to google it-- It's true!

@LSlycord pfft-- I swear, the best surgeons are all the same, a bit of a god complex. My mom's pacemaker/synchronizer device doctor is supposed to be *the best* in NJ. Doesn't crack a smile. But I told her that it doesn't matter what his personality is if he is The Best. Especially when it comes to your heart. Sounds like your Dr is the same way.
I really hope that you are eligible for the TAVR, the post-op process sounds much easier-- by far. Lots and lots of good vibes :sparkles1:

And lots of good vibes for all of you and those you love :sparkles1:

Good morning - I know - don't faint. I might lay back down, for a few minutes. I woke up, was wide awake and decided to get up. Now my eyelids are getting heavy. I might lay back down for an hour.

Chris, Scott's house looks adorable! Perfect for him and Sam (he and Sam?) oh, heck you know what I mean. Anyway, it's darling and getting those TV's mounted is a big job. We only had two to mount in this house, but they're so big. Ava and Braden did ours. Do they have a lot of work to do on the house to make it their own???? From what you said, it's in pretty good shape already. Thanks for the pictures. I knew you'd like the pictures of Marley sitting beside those Burgandy mums. I will try the ear rubs when I see her and tell her they're from Aunt Chris, too.

Linda @LSlycord I'm glad you're getting closer to having your procedure. I know you'll be glad when it's over and you have a plan of action. LOL - pumpkin picking in Florida where you don't smell that "fall air" is different. I broke down and got big heavy plastic pumpkins; I had orange, black and white ones. Asher loved them because he could pick them up and rearrange them. I also had plug in jack o lanterns. Not the "real thing" but they served the purpose. I used to have flamingo skeletons too. I lost them in the move, but they were so cute.

I'm going to sign off I really think I'm going to "rest" for a few minutes. My eyes aren't ready for Prime Time yet. :sleeping1:

Good morning. Woke up to nice cool temps...64. And then I was talking to Brian about the Fall Festival and he told me that I had it on the calendar for next Saturday. Then he looked at the attached URL and it really is next weekend. So that leaves me with the task of sorting through boxes...I think that I told you that we brought all of the boxes home from the storage unit when they changed the price (after 4 months) from $100 to $127.

Well, the sorting through boxes is some type of self reflection journey. I have a small box filled with my aspirations to cross stitch, knit and crochet. Seriously. I have 6 skeins of yarn. I have one crochet needle and 5 different sets of knitting needles, all in different sizes. I have embroidery thread in 50+ colors. I have a book to teach myself to knit and I have a quilting magazine from 2004. I also have multiple packages of straight pins, a few random things to use when knitting and a few stray pieces of fabric for quilting! In addition, I have one small piece of practice knitting that I did...probably 7-8 years ago.

I now have decided that I am certifiably crazy! But I am not willing to give up on this dream of learning to knit and/or crochet. So I need a plan. I have promised myself that I will spend at least 30 minutes a day trying knitting. I don't even need to make anything. I just need to learn to knit and I'm going to see if I like it. If I don't then I'll get rid of all of these supplies. 2023092311053927-8201789532748331853.jpg

Good morning ladies. I have been quiet, not online much these last few days. The home inspection was fine, only a few loose shingles on the roof, but of course the buyers want us to pay a roofer to come out and repair. We already reduced the home cost and then accepted an even lower price from them so we are not happy about putting out more money. Plus, they haven't sold their place and now want an extension on the contract (Sept 30) but we probably can't do that b/c our contract is also done Sept 30th on the alberta home and since people are still buying out there right now, they most likely will not extend our contract. So we can't sell after next week probably b/c there won't be a suitable home for us to buy now. Almost everything is now sold out there.

I am devastated, I really thought this was going to work out and now there is a very real possibility that it won't. The alberta sellers may extend our contract a few wks though but the market here is so bad that I no longer feel that their duplex will sell.

So, I will probably be fairly quiet over the next week or so, so don't be surprised if I am not around much.

Ok...sorry about making those photos so big. It looks like I need to work on my computer skills as well as my knitting. Anyhow...enough of my nonsense.

@faerywings I love Scott and Sam's house. And, fwiw, I think that Cait and Tom are making the right decision on the house. I believe that interest rates will come down before the election and then they will have more homes available to them. And, with your SIL being a realtor, if she sees something that is wonderful, she will definitely let them know! So they are covered! And yes, I got the answers that I wanted from the doctor. I'm anxious to get through the cath so that I can make a decision about which way to go. There are about 7 doctors who sit on a board that makes decisions about the best approach. So I'm pretty confident that we will come up with the best solution. Whether I like it or not, who knows!

@taxed4ever the house back in Iowa...well that happened in the month of August while you were enjoying your family. The Florida summer was unbearable this year. I am really missing family...honestly I have the cutest little great niece and great nephews...there are five of them under the age of 3...and I want to be around more as they grow up. And I miss the seasons terribly. Depending on what the kids decide to do (at this point, neither of them are looking at Florida as a long term option), I don't know where we will be when we aren't in Iowa. Brian isn't up for snow..but he doesn't mind the other seasons in Iowa. So we bought the lot but we are now talking to builders. Oh my! And going into a rainy patch, huh? With all of your hiking and rowing, that could be difficult.

@Cherylndesigns look at you showing up first thing in the morning. I hope that you were able to go back to sleep.

@bcgal00 I really hope that things work out on the house. Such an emotional roller coaster. Please do whatever you need to keep your mental health! I'm sure hoping that the duplex sells and it all comes together soon!

@vickyday I sure hope that the stomach is feeling better. So much stress. And boy do I understand turning it over to God...and then kind of holding on to it anyway. Praying that Mark's news is good and you can get some closure on that.

@BrightEyes I am sure that you are trying to enjoy every last second with the kids. It will be quiet around there next week. I hope that they decide to move to your area when they return from PI.

Good afternoon,
Got up at 9 this morning. Mark had taken some sausage to the fire pits to cook and some biscuits (already baked) for his breakfast and quiet time around the fire. I got busy and made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, swept the floors and started the laundry. I was scheduled to go to Carolyn's and sit with her from 1-4 because her daughter had a sweet 16 birthday party to attend for her g.daughter. So I took my knitting with me and we watched HGTV and chit chatted while I did a little bit of knitting. I've started a sweater for myself using the same yarn I made the baby blanket out of. I'm using this pattern HERE. I really like how it is turning out!
IMG_20230923_171559578-web.jpg
And now I'm getting ready to eat for the first time today. My stomach actually feels like it can handle something! Mark is watching car races and I will do some more knitting after I eat.
Have a great evening!

Help, help! My brain is still doing this :bouncing: :dancingbfly: Make it stop! :flyswatter:

Poor Caitlyn spent a lot of time with me yesterday and I don't think I spoke one coherent sentence. :spinningchair:

The highlight of the FP yesterday was *drum roll* --- Squirrel! The woman who runs the Pantry asked Caitlyn months ago what the sticker was on the back of her car. It's an outline of a rat and the woman asked a lot of questions about pet ratties and wanted to see her. Over the summer it was too hot to bring any of them out, but it was cool enough to bring Squirrel yesterday. Not to mention, Caitlyn is forcing her to have more socialization now that her sisters are gone. Squirrel prefers to be independent and will push you if you bug her with too many pets. LOL

When we checked in, I said to Donna that we had someone who wanted to see her and she practically ran off to the car with Cait. The volunteers bring the bags to your car and when they did, one guy saw the cage and said-- That must be Squirrel! He had to check her out and talk to her. Another woman came up and said the same- It's Squirrel! She asked Caitlyn what she likes to eat so
Caitlyn gave a quick rundown. The woman comes back with a banana, a carrot, and a big box of Cheerios for Squirrel. :rotfl:
I seriously hate that I have to go to the pantry but the people there are the best, and make it not feel so humiliating.

Today I need to get my head in the game and think about the party - menu, decorations, paper goods, and gifts. The menu should be pretty easy. I have to get in the attic to see what decorations I can grab (spooky-themed, of course). If I can get that taken care of early, my plan is to spend the rest of the afternoon catching up here.

XOXOXO!!

@Cherylndesigns Did you end up taking a nap after waking so early?
Isn't the house adorable? It's funny that you mention how hard it is to mount TVs. Gary had an especially difficult time trying to find the studs. We think it is a converted log cabin and there was only one that was being picked up and it ran horizontally.
Everything was pristine when they moved in. All they needed was furniture and knick-knacks.
Oh good, thank you for giving Marley belly and ear rubs from me. How is Alyssa doing with the medications, is the schedule getting easier?
I love the flamingo skeletons-- this is the card I made for Caitlyn:

(Copied from Pinterest- I am not that creative LOL)
I remember one year going down the shore in Oct and it was 80* and the contrast between the heat/ocean and the pumpkins everywhere felt silly!

Speaking of the shore- my goodness, we lucked out big time with the weather. It had rained almost the entire previous week and there is heavy rain and flooding this weekend. I saw pictures on the main road along the shoreline covered in sand this morning. 7" of rainfall and 50 mph winds just south of where we stayed. Gary keeps saying that we should go in the summer when hurricane season isn't peaking but then we can't afford a place to stay. :/

@LSlycord Mixing up the festival day sounds exactly like something I would do too. I hope my date-challenge-ness isn't contagious :giggle4:
Were you able to get the rest of the boxes unpacked or did you get stuck on the yarn box? Or should I say "tangled?" Hahah!
BTW- I used the same book to try to teach myself how to knot and it didn't go well. I am uncoordinated so I find crochet to be easier. I hope you can work through it and if not and you want to try crochet, Felis shared this website with me a while ago: https://tlycblog.com/crochetacademy/

That has to be reassuring that you have an entire panel of doctors going over your case. I hope that the TAVR is offered but if not, you know it is the best medical decision for you. (even if it suuuuuucks)

@bcgal00 :sad1: Oh no... I am so sorry that the house stuff looks like it is not working out. I am sending you good selling vibes and if these people won't budge, you get another offer soon. Hang in there :hug3:

@vickyday Thanks! The house looks and feels bigger with all of the windows and light. I am itching to go outside and work on the landscaping but it's not my house, darn it!!! ;)
My grammatical issue is "like or as." Grammarly flags me all of the time but I ignore it often since it sounds weird the way it wants me to change it. I obviously need way more help than Grammarly offers so maybe I shouldn't ignore it as much as I do :floorlaugh:
The sweater is looking good! It's getting to the weather where I want to get out my yarn again too.
So happy to hear that your stomach was feeling good enough to get some food in you.

Cheryl- Isn't that the truth, that we are allllll a little  And man, it helps!!

Hugs to everyone who reads this!

XOXOXO!!
Sounds like Squirrel has her own fan club! ;)

I'll bet if you asked Scott and Sam they would love your help on the landscaping!
My grammarly issue is whether to use affect or effect.
I was able to eat some veggie lasagna yesterday but not much else. A few bites of a pumpkin spice frosty and a few chips as a TV snack, LOL!
I agree! It helps you deal with life when you are a bit "touched":spinningchair::lol23:

Good Sunday Morning to All!
Just a note before hopping into the :showering: to get ready for church.
It rained about all afternoon yesterday with the storm that was off the coast of NC. But today the sun is beautiful with cool temps. Might be a good day for a bike ride later on. Hmmm! I might have to see what the temp is and maybe see if Mark wants to ride to church!
No plans for the day other than knitting. Maybe a bike ride! We will see!
Have a great Sunday!

Good afternoon my lovely ladies! I went down the rabbit hole with the yarn yesterday...and @Cherylndesigns I think that I may make that my mantra..."it seemed like a good idea at the time". Today I'm pulling out all of my quilting supplies and that is definitely more than one box. LOL I actually started this post at 7:30 this morning but then my laptop battery was about to die so I decided I'd take it in to charge for just a bit and I'd begin the quilt rabbit hole. Here we are six hours later. I've made great progress but not yet done. It's kind of like going to the fabric store!

:bouncing: Can you do that in a rabbit hole? Well, in fact, you sure can. I have looked up quilt patterns online, looked up fabrics online, looked up more patterns...

@vickyday love that yarn! Thanks for the encouraging words about my knitting sample. I found several quilt squares that I started with embroidery and everything. I had to admit that they looked pretty good. My problem is I'm a fast starter :motorcycle:and a very, very slow finisher... Hope you got to ride to church. I had wondered if the storm would have any effect (that's my most challenging grammar item too...sometimes I use the word impact to be safe) on you as far inland as you are.

@faerywings I love that all of the people came running out to meet squirrel. And I really love that the people at the food pantry are compassionate and kind! What a world we would have if more people did that!

Ok, I've got to get back to the mess in the middle of my living room. Talk to you all soon!

Vicky, you helped me out yesterday (I think it was) so I'll help you out today. I remember it like "Seasonal Affective Disorder" (kind of medical/scientific word) - it's almost always "effect".

LOVE your post today because man am I feeling :crying1:. Don't know what's wrong with me, but wow I hate days like this.

Cait's card is adorable and my flamingo skeletons looked JUST like those - they were black and white and were on metal stakes so we could stick them in the ground. I KNOW I have pictures of them, but darned if I could find them. I know I have some on Instagram so if I have time, I'll look on there.

Alyssa's meds schedule is decreasing for Marley - thank goodness. It was a taper down thing. I swear, I think those vets are crazy. She acts like there's nothing wrong with her. She came flying in here yesterday and jumped right in the middle of my bed like she used to do. She hasn't felt like doing that for awhile. It's hard to believe that there is anything wrong with her and she eats anything she can - she was starved when she got home. She's filling out nicely and all of the shaved places are starting to grow back. I always give her loving from you. That's so sweet about "Squirrel" at the FP yesterday.

Those big screen TV's are a PITA - there's never a stud where you want to hang them. They probably did convert that house and good luck with that. At least they got them hung. Like I said, we only had two to mount this time. It's time to throw it into gear and get ready for that party! You'll get it done - I'm the same way - I just have to get motivated. Adrienne and gang are coming over for dinner and I need to get motivated and I'm SO not - today is not a good day, but I'll throw it in gear and get ready.

I did take a nap the morning I woke up so early. In fact, I went back to bed after I posted and uploaded a couple of layouts and slept until 12:30!!

I'm going to sign off because i need to get myself cleaned up and ready for dinner. Hugs and love to everybody. XOXO

I love that biker chick emoji, but I keep forgetting about it being available!
We did :motorcycle:to church! It was wonderful! We were going out with our pastor and wife this afternoon but she had to work and Mark had a headache anyway.
We are 4 hours inland, so storms along the coast rarely ever have more than a rainy impact on us, which I am happy about!
