CHEERY O
I apologize for my mood again. 2020 has been brutal and the news from last night on the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (our Notorious RBG!) is devastating. I have not felt such a range of anger, fear, sadness, despair since I did in Nov 2016. Gary told me the news and I think I spent the next ten minutes in the hallway with my hands on my face, saying one bad word over and over, interspersed with "this is bad, really really bad." Scott asked me what was up, and then all I could hear was the kids saying the same thing to each other. I don't know what will happen next but it doesn't feel too good ATM.

Yesterday was ok, I went to get my flu shot and that turned out to be a bit of an adventure. I made an appt at Walgreen's but when I got there they said that they don't take my insurance. I went across the street to a privately owned pharmacy and they do take my insurance but the pharmacist was off because of the holiday, try again on Sat. Then they realize that they don't have any doses- come back at the end of next week. I am *thisclose* to giving up and going home but made myself go to the RiteAid that is right there. (My town has next to nothing for shopping but has three stand-alone pharmacies, plus the ShopRite all within 200 yards). They had the shots, took my insurance, and thank goodness, I got that done. I was patting myself on the back for sticking to my plan.

The rest of the day was puttering around, the washing machine seems to be working, there hasn't been any water filling back into the drum.
I have nothing going on today other than trying to stay warm. It was in the 30s last night. Gary is seeing if he can fix the heater/exhaust fan in my bathroom right now. I hope that he can. He also has to see if it safe to use our oven. The inside glass cracked when a drop of water rolled off of his hand and hit it. I am seriously so done with this year...

I think I need my gratitudes up to 11 this morning.
-the sun is out, I don't I could deal with today if it was raining.
-snuggly puppies
-fuzzy socks
-family
-O-zies!

Hugs to all of you!

Kay- how was the trip to base and commissary go for you? Hope you got everything you needed.
I am still moving a bit stiffly but not as bad as the day before. Falling like that really does a number.

Cheryl- is it hard not hearing the noises at night? My brother finds it harder to sleep at our parents' lakehouse, it is too quiet. And I have a hard time sleeping at their house- my childhood home- because I am now used to it being quieter. But I am happy that you are sleeping well- you are going to need that energy getting yourself settled!

Trudy- I am sorry that you are still dealing with all of that smoke, any rain in your forecast at all?
I am laughing at having to restrain yourself in the craft store. Excellent idea to go to the farmer's market! Local is so much better than at the supermarket.

Kay- that is great news about the updates working!!!

Cheryl- what a lovely ceremony, many blessing to you and your home.

Well, back to square one again.... none of the log-ins were there this morning when I got on the computer!!! GRRRRR!!!! I had a feeling that was going to happen as rather than the first screen with the picture - the screen with the computer Log-in came up - which was what was happening right after the big up-date. So frustrated over this whole mess!!! I have most of the log-ins memorized now as I have to use them so often.

Only have a little time to be on the computer this AM as DD#1 is coming over for coffee. It has been a week since I have seen her so looking forward to the visit.

Cheryl, thanks for sharing the photos... such a beautiful place. What part of Oklahoma is it in??? Reminds me of the area around Lawton. My aunt lived there.

Good morning ladies, from a smoke free Vancouver Island!!! Hooray!! First thing I did this morning was to open up the windows and let the fresh air in, it smells so much better now! Not sure if this will last or not :noidea: but we sure are happy to be able to see the lake and the mountain across from us and most of all, the patches of blue sky up above! DH and I have already been out on the decks and did some clean up and started putting away a few things for the Fall/Winter  Down came the umbrella and my petunia pots which were way past being done. Blew off the mess and now everything is spic and span until the next rain or wind storm. We are heading out shortly to take a bunch of yard waste etc. to Bings Creek (recycle place). Fall is in the air and the leaves are quickly starting to change colour, it is bitter sweet for sure! I love the summer but the fall is always so beautiful here too.

Chris - what a hassle to get your flu shot, but good on you for sticking to your guns and getting it done finally! I still haven't seen anywhere that is even offering the flu shots here yet :mmph: Had to laugh at your wonderful President saying that Canada wants to open the border to the U.S. Yaaaa that's not happening!!! what a dufus!!! How can he outright lie like that??? Anyway I know that you are not a big fan of him as well as most of the other people in the world. I hope and pray that he doesn't get in for another term  Glad to hear that the washing machine is still working well!! That is terrible that you now have a crack in your oven window, man its always something isn't it?? I think that we are all feeling the same way as you and are so done with this stupid year!!

Kay - Oh my gosh, how frustrating for you to have to deal with more problems with that darn old windows update!! I hope that you can soon figure out what to do to fix it for good! How nice to have a coffee visit with your DD#1! You will have lots to catch up on I am sure!

Cheryl - The photos are great and thanks for sharing them with us! Looks like an amazing place to be with fresh clean air and lots of space! You must be in heaven!

Ok DH needs me to help him load the truck up, so I gotta get going! :bolt: Have a great Saturday everyone!

Good afternoon! Chris, I'm sorry you're so devastated! I hope you're feeling some better by now. Things will get sorted out somehow - not sure how.

No, it's not hard hearing noises at all. I haven't slept this well for years. I never realized how much "neighborhood noise" I must have heard all night. I always had my found machine on + a fan, but it must have still bothered me. I'm glad you enjoyed looking at our ceremony. It was very awesome. Glad you finally got your flu shot! What a hassle. We're going to get ours next week.

Hope you enjoyed my massive amount of pictures. I hated to lay that many on you girls, but I didn't have the energy to pick some of them out for a new album.

Kay, that stinks that you're still having computer issues. Grrrrrrr is right! We're in the northeast corner of Oklahoma. I just looked Lawton up and it's in the southwest corner. It's in Comanche County and we're in Cherokee.

Trudy, the smoke situation sounds a little better. Thank goodness. We really love it here already - it is close to Heaven. Blake Shelton wrote a song about Oklahoma (his home state) - God's Country. That's what we all call it.

The kids and I are going to an "end of summer party" tonight. They call is a "block party" and my grandson (Asher, the 9 year old) laughed so hard. He said "how can you have a block party when you don't have any blocks?" BWHAHAH

Happy Sunday! I will be brief this morning. I don't have all that much to say and I have a bunch of things I need to work on around here. The past few days of not being able to accomplish much has taken a toll on the organization of my house and my mind. It was *always* on shaky ground but ATM it is more like quicksand. :fear: :p
I started a list of to-do's for the day and week. and I will be adding to that as my brain wakes up a bit.

Gratitdues:
-Gary was able to fix the heater in my bathroom!
-He was also able to order a new glass insert for the oven.
-The washing machine has not filled up with water again.

hugs to everyone!

Kay- oh no, really? What is going on with your computer? You are making me nervous, I need to update drivers for my mouse and monitor. Not as big of an issues and the Windows one, for sure.
Hope you had a wonderful visit with DD#1

Trudy-yay!!! That is wonderful news about no smoke- bet it felt amazing to have fresh air flowing. I hope that it stays that way for a long time. I have hard time taking down the sunner yard stuff and getting rid of the annuals. I have been harvesting herbs little by little. I shouldn't even bother bringing them inside since they never make it. I burned a pumpkin candle and Caitlyn made pumpkin pancakes for dinner last night. Fall is here *tries not to cry*

Cheryl- I am feeling better and much more ready to fight.:D
The property looks very peaceful and it has to feel fantastic to sleep so well. I loved all of the photos! Enjoy!

xoxo

Holding my breath... I ended up deleting all my history, cookies and cache on the computer... did a restart... then logged in to a couple of forums and clicked on Remember Me... then closed out and a did a restart. The log-ins were there this time. Will believe the problem is gone when I come back in over the next few days and they are still there. Geeze... this has been frustrating.

Yes, I did have a good visit with DD#1 yesterday. She was so sweet... she brought over a package of sliced sweet breads... so we indulged a bit. She left me a few slices so that will be my breakfast for the next couple of days. We talked about their plans for the holidays. Will be very different due to Covid-19.

The smoke haze is still hanging around as the mountain looks very hazy and the sunlight has that reddish-gold cast to it. I saw a few hot air balloons up in the sky but I wouldn't want to be lifting up into the smoke. It will be different this October to not have the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival happening due to Covid-19.

Trudy, so glad that the smoke has cleared up for your area. Know what you mean about wanting to air the house out now that it is clear.

Am off to visit a few more forums/sites and get logged back in.

Morning ladies... a quick in and out of here also as we are off to the In-Laws to help them get a few things done before the rains start. Sounds like they were busy yesterday getting rid of all the geraniums that are on their front deck. MIL should really not be doing those kind of things :mmph: Now the deck is a mess and so they want us to bring our power washer and get it cleaned up. DH will also be cleaning out the gutters on the shop at the back of the house. I don't like that he has to go up on a huge ladder to do that, but better him than FIL! The shop is really tall as it used to house two big buses and also that is where MIL's sewing room is on the upstairs part of the shop. There are two bedrooms and bathroom in it also that was used when we would have family reunions. You think maybe this might be a bit too much work for a couple in their mid 80's??

Chris - I really hope that you can get yourself more organized and productive today. Yes I hate to get rid of the summer things too, but we can't stop seasons from changing can we? Soon I will have to start looking for the bull rushes to put on my front porch, my Gary's favourite job LOL. It is another smoke free day today, so keeping my fingers crossed that we have seen the last of it!

Cheryl - I hope that your end of summer party was lots of fun! We call where we live God's Country too, guess being close to the mountains and all the water, mild temps I think is where God would pick to live LOL.

Kay - Glad to hear that your PC is running better now and I will keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way! I see that Vera was having the same issues, hope the suggestions from the others is what worked! Enjoy your sweet breads!! :hungry:

Ok off to the shower and get all of our gear packed up. I made a coffee cake to take up to the In-Laws. I know they will enjoy it and so will DH, but me not so much. I know to stay away from such things now or my stomach will remind me for days :mmph: Oh thought I should mention that the Pool is finally going to re-open in mid October. Now we wait to see what the rules will be or if I will be able to get back to swimming laps once more. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Almost midnight. Hope everybody has had a good day. Chris, I'm so happy to hear that you're doing a little better. It's just hard to lose somebody (anybody) who has meant so much to you.

Kay, your computer situation sounds very scary indeed. Do you have any online backup at all? I use Backblaze - and my pictures back up several other place, too. I agree with Chris, your situation is making me nervous.

Trudy, great that you are able to get out. Yes, I'm sure you live in God's Country, too. Blake Shelton named it that - LOL. Blame it on Blake.

The party was a lot of fun! Probably close to a hundred people there and lots of kids. A huge bonfire, a live country band and lots of food topped it off. Oh, they even had a mechanical bull. I hadn't seen one of those for awhile. My GS, Braden rode it - he didn't stay on very long. When the kids rode it, they had it on slow speed, but not for the adults. LOL

We went into the big city (hahaha) to Walmart and Walgreen's today. Big trip. We stopped by the Cherokee Gift Shop to get a couple of T-shirts, but they were closed for inventory.

The two grandkids came over for dinner and stayed for quite awhile. My oldest grand, Cameron, is flying in Thursday night. I can't wait to see him! He's 23. I'm enjoying see the kids every day.
