Happy Labor Day, extra day off from work and school to you all!
I wish I could say that I was able to keep my streak of good night's sleep going but last night was a rough one. My back was spasming a bit, then my hips started to hurt. I hope my back is going to loosen up soon, because I am painting the kids' bathroom today. Almost 2 years ago, I put the mold killing base coat down and there is not a speck of mold, but now it needs "real" paint. Finally a day where there is nothing else going on, and not hot or humid.

breakfast with my parents was *hysterical.* Gary and I both said that we had not laughed so hard in a really long time. My mom was telling stories, my dad was being funny- felt so good to laugh.
After they left, I got a few more miscellaneous thing done, then we had frozen pizza for dinner and binge watched 30 Rock. Good day for laughter. :D

Aside from waiting for my back to feel better- will be taking Aleve with b-fast- and painting, nothing else going on here. we have to keep her on on the Princess J. Yesterday she got rambunctious with Ray and must have hurt her knee a bit. She actually did a little yelp of pain, which she has never done- after her spaying or this surgery. we gave her a trazadone to keep her calm and she seemed better. But this morning she is back to toe-touching so it will be a day of resting and watching.

Hope that all of you ladies got a great night's sleep and have a wonderful day ahead!

Nancy- that is silly IMHO that DIL wouldn't let her dogs near Luther, how else are they going to get to know him? Not to mention, when we used to go to the dog park, little Kimber was smaller than my cats and she kept up, and went well ahead of the big dogs and she loved it. Glad you got to see some cool birds, any pics? That LEGO game sounds like a lot of fun, and the concept of working with your partner- I really like that. My kids - all 4 of them- play MarioKart, but I am terrible at it. I won't do shooting or hunting type games, not in my nature, but this one sounds neat.

Kat- ugh about the stuff in the house :( Really crazy. It is like the house knows just how to kick you when you are down. Not anywhere *near* the same level, but our facet is on it way out to the point that I hope it can pull it together until the new one gets her tomorrow, the bracket on the door to the washing machine doesn't want the door to close properly and both kids cars are making weird noises. I am knocking wood for you that the capacitor was your third (first?) thing.

To make you smile- my parents AC went while we were in PA in August during those 100* Real Feel days. My mom was with us and my dad was still at home in NJ. My mom has a rambling way of talking (see where I get it from?) and she gets off of the phone with my dad and somehow mashes up that story with my dad having to go home after his radiation therapy to use the bathroom (he had to drink tons of water before he got zapped). Somehow, in that tangle, she mixed in my dad's bladder and capacitor and Cait and I looked at each other like she was crazy- but now and forever, my dad's bladder will be known as a capacitor. Not to his face however. :pound:

:cheer2: Congrats on the weight loss!!! You *got* this!!!!

Rae- good job with the winning at the casino. It would have been great if DH had won that jackpot too, but at least you got enough to pay the fees. Woot!!!!
Hope that you had a relaxing day and that today is another good one for you too.

Our house is way older than 40 :D The original part of the house, the kitchen, my office area, the Dr which was a bedroom and one bath were built in the early fifties as a summer lake house. Back then there weren't any codes to go by and it was built by the people who owned the lot. After that, a small bump out was put onto the kitchen, then the LR got extended out front. The main bedroom used to be the driveway. "basement area" was created, complete with boulders as part of the floor, and the bedroom was put on top of that. The orginal arric was built with tree trunks as well as regular wood beams. But since nothing was to code, the electric was rigged anywhere it could go, the studs were not in any sort of even spacing nor even the same size boards. When we put the addition on top, the contractor was amazed by the insanity. We still have wires and switches that we don't know where they went to.

Oh! And the island- the top of it was made from the wooden counter from the A&P checkout. We put a formica sheet over it to match the "new" counter tops when we redid the kitchen when we moved in. The cabinets above and below are original although I painted them white. We would love to get that monstrosity redone someday, but that is way out of out budget. Dental floss is out of our budget too so no surprise there. :becky:

See what I said about my mom rambling her stories? It is genetic.
hah!!

good morning - yesterday got Luther out twice and on the evening walk we ran into another dog Rosie out with her pack (mom and kids) they invited Luther and I to their house for a play date. OMgosh it was too fun. Luther and Rosie just ran and ran. Rosie is smaller and she could cut the turns sharper but Luther was fast and he would almost catch her and she would turn. There were 4 kids and two sets of parents and Luther was just the gentle giant I thought he was. All the others were so complimentary of Luther and I was thrilled of course because while I think he is adorable it is nice of him to show off! During the day I played the game with Charles and we had such fun. Turns out that going forward on a joy stick on the controller is not the same as going forward on the game. My son and I laughed so hard when I told him how I was driving and as he could not figure out how I could not drive straight. And so glad that we got that figured out! Today is more of the same.

Chris your breakfast with your parents sounds awesome. How fun to start the day laughing! Hope your back and hips feel better. Have fun painting the bathroom after all today is Labor Day!

Kat I feel the pain about your house woes. Once you buy a house it becomes a money pit especially the older ones. We know your pain. Congrats on the poundage loss that is awesome!

Trudy and Rae I am sure you are have a great time!

Have great day all!

Morning Ladies! Sitting here at the computer, Haddie's in her bed right at my feet, back door open the patio *sigh* nice. Plumber should be here between 12 and 4, so we'll know the damage then. I suspect the actual plumbing part will be an easier fix than the bathroom floor, vanity replacement (possibly), and the ceiling repairs. Oh well, I joked with Bill that we've been talking about needing a bathroom remodel anyway.

Sounds like everyone's having some nice time with family and friends. Chris, your parents sound like a hoot! Sorry to hear the Miss. J. has injured herself - she's her own worst enemy! LOL And Nancy, Luther sounds like a big snuggle-bunny - intimidating to look at, but like you said, just a gentle giant.

Hi ladies. What a busy day we had. Started off with deciding in the morning to look for a new couch and give Bailey our sectional. We got a couch, got it home and I decided to look for a used lazyboy chair so I could put my feet up. I didn't want to spend big bucks on it so was so happy to check in Craigs List, found an ivory chair I wanted in mint condition and picked it up this afternoon. We went to the recycling depot to drop off a bunch of cardboard stuff and brought work stuff to Darrell's storage locker in between furniture shopping. We were busy all day. We popped into Dairy Queen for a late lunch so no cooking for me today as I'm going to pop out for Chinese food in a few minutes. The couch and chair look great and now all we need is a new lazyboy for Darrell. He loves his big leather chair but it is getting worn so since he couldn't figure out what he wanted for his birthday (back in July) he thinks he wants a new chair. We'll watch for sales and hopefully get a good deal on a leather lazyboy for him. So some casino money goes for paying next year's ranch fees but some went to new furniture today. Money well spent! We're happy. Taz was stressed out, ended up going out into the yard and getting sick. He was not happy about losing his sectional (yes, he thinks its his lol) and then new furniture coming in and everything getting moved around. He finally went to sleep in my chair with me an hour ago and now just got up and ate so I guess everything is ok now for him. Funny how stressed dogs get about some things. It's been a great wkend, spending lots of time with my hubs and tonight we'll relax, watch a few shows and hopefully get a good sleep. I've got a busy day tomorrow - work, walking Ava and then a dentist appt in the afternoon.

So, hope you have all had a good wkend and I'll chat with you tomorrow.
