Hmmm... I have a question for you all. Do you think I am off my rocker crazy? If the answer to that is "eh, not 100%" you can now officially say that yup- the Faery is well over 100% off her rocker.
Yesterday, I was scrolling along on FB when I saw a series of posts about animals being euthanized in Houston. For no reason, although some reports said that it was focused on "bully breeds." Since I have a mixed-bully breed and know what an absolute sweetheart she is I was kinda...angry. To put it mildly. One of the posts was made by an organization, Southern Paws, that rescues dogs from kill shelters in the south and brings them to NJ. They were in Houston bringing up shelter dogs so there would be space for dogs that were displaced from their families and homes. It turns out that they are based 5 minutes from my home and were looking for people to foster these dogs. (Do you see where this is going?)
There was a contact number to call for info so I called it. Got the info. Filled out the application. And now, there is a good chance that we might be fostering a dog. Open-ended to adopt if wanted.
I knooooow!!!! We are in no position to be taking on another dog. The fostering org provides supplies and will cover vet services if needed. The dogs are all over 1 yo so they are up to date on vaccinations/spay/neutering. They have been temperament tested so they will place a dog with us that gets along with cats and others dogs. We requested a female so they won't be too many territorial issues.
Who knows, maybe this will help Gary out of his depression.
We also got to meet Cait's BFFs new puppy. She just adopted a St Bernard puppy and he came to visit us last night. He is 3 months old and is an uncoordinated 50 lb mush. So darn soft and snuggly and has the most expressive face and eyes. And the paws! Huge!!!!
Those were my highlights from yesterday. Now I am just watching Irma and keeping my fingers crossed that she heads back out to sea. Please don't let it hit the Jersey Shore, I will be so upset if our mini-vacation gets ruined ( #firstworldselfishproblem ).
Today I am getting my shopping list and coupons ready (and dinner ideas, ugh ugh ugh) to go to the store tomorrow and then spending time out in the gardens.
Here is to a wonderful Monday, O-Fam!
