Happy Monday!!

Remember when I said this yesterday:
I am not going to leave my house at all today.
Turned out I lied. LOL
I wasn't planning on going anywhere farther than the driveway when I was out with the dogs. Then Sam invited me to the baby shower and of course, I wanted to go. The actual "getting there physically" was....... complicated. Originally, I asked Cait and Tom if they could swing past the house and pick me up. Then I realized they would have a hard time making the left turn off of my street because of the street festival in town. Phase 2: I asked Gary if he could drive me to the intersection, I could cross the road there and they could meet me at the entrance to a park. They'd only have to make a right turn to get back into the traffic. By 10.30, there was no way he was going to be able to get out of our driveway. Cars 100% backed up. Around 1 pm, Cait calls and says they are close to town so I walk to the park, going way faster than all of the cars stuck on the road LOL! It's not far, 1/2 mile maybe.
I called to tell them I was there but now they are stuck in traffic trying to get to the main road. Took them another half hour to get to me (maybe a mile?) So silly. No cops anywhere to direct traffic either.
The shower was very nice and I asked Sam to introduce me to some of her family. Scott showed up for a little while, but that is a totally different story having to do with his job so I won't blather on about that. (you lucked out haha!)

But, speaking of Scott and jobs-- he had time to call the director of the ecology center and she is interested in meeting me. They actually do need some people for per diem projects and she thinks I would be a good fit. He told her about my background and interests. I am going to pull a resume and cover letter together and have him look over it. Then I am going to apply. *gulps* It shouldn't be a big deal/process since she has worked with Scott since he got the scholarship with them. He said that I could use his friend Lauren as a reference. She has worked for them since she got the same scholarship. But still.

All of that means that I didn't get myself organized -- not even a little bit. That's the big plan for today. Coloring Crew is this afternoon. Busy day ahead but kind of exciting!

Love to all of you!

@BrightEyes Brrrr-- it got cold here and fast. Wasn't it just 80* a few days ago? Now it is 41* and I turned the heat on.
Did any of the balloons drift your way? I hope so. You got a lot of organizing done, that's fantastic!

@Cherylndesigns I am a wuss too, it was 61* in the house and I am frozen solid. It's weird how localized the color is on the trees around here. My parents are 20 miles south of me and the trees are just starting to change. We are about half and half color. And when we were in PA last week, the trees were just shy of peak.
I hope that you get some nice color this season.
Please LMK if the ab workout works for you. Yoga is already on my to-do list for today (along with a gazillion things but I'll get there)

Happy Monday hugs all around!

Happy Monday to all!
BRRR! It's 9 o'clock and only 45 degrees out! It was so chilly yesterday that Mark kicked the heat on! I couldn't believe it! This guy who runs a fan on himself just about 24/7! He even turned it off yesterday! Meanwhile, after we got back from my birthday lunch at Ruby Tuesday, I donned my cozy pjs and house coat and socks and wrapped an afghan around my legs and spent the afternoon in my recliner knitting and computing and listening to audiobooks. I was there until 2 a.m. So I'm really surprised I am up already!

I'm stuck at the house today because Mark had to drop the car off for repairs. The back tires are wearing on the insides so the mechanic is going to check the alignment and shocks and struts.......whatever! We need to get the problem fixed before we begin our travels next week. The first part of the week we are attending the annual Shepherds 360 Conference in Cary, NC. The later part of the week we are going to my son's in Gunthersville, AL. We are not going to ride the bike this time. We were out for a couple of hours last week and my tailbone was hurting before we got back and Mark was squirming in his seat. That's when I made the decision we were not going to ride the bike! I asked Mark if there was any way to haul it on one of his trailers but he said the hitch on the car is not the right kind and my car would probably struggle on the hills pulling the trailer.

So, today, without a car, I will spend time getting my checkbook balanced and doing laundry. We are planning on going to a meeting tonight at one of our sister churches about half an hour away. I am planning on doing Mark's favorite hamburger casserole for supper tonight. It is an easy peasy recipe. It's one his mom used to fix:

Macaroni and Beef Casserole
1 pkg. 8 oz. cooked macaroni
onion (to your liking)
1 tsp salt
pepper (to your liking)
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 can condensed tomato soup
1 cup milk
4 Tbsp butter or margarine
1 pound ground beef
Saute onion in butter until soft. Add meat and seasonings and lightly brown. Arrange alternate layers of macaroni, meat, cheese in 13x9 baking dish. Mix soup and milk and pour over layers. Cook at 375 for 30 minutes. 6 servings

Have a great day!

Morning, gals. Another cool morning - only 52F right now. The balloons are up but are heading south... not west where I live. I can see them in the distance. Just as well as it is too chilly to stand outside and try to get photos of them.

I got a call yesterday at noon from a friend..."Are you coming over??" I laughed a bit and said "Not today... will be there on Tuesday." She is hosting our brown bag lunch then. Seems she got up thinking it was Tuesday and had everything set up for the get-together. When no one showed, she called me to find out why I wasn't there!!! So, @faerywings, Chris... guess we are not the only ones who get mixed up on what day it is! :rotfl: She and I had a laugh over her getting the day wrong. Being practical, she said she would turn the coffee off and put it in the fridge for those who might want iced coffee on Tuesday!! :pillowtalk:

Glad to get some 'organizing of folders' on the computer yesterday. By the time that was done, the hands said it was time to rest them. Ended up watching Netflix for awhile. Fixed my favorite burrito with scrabbled eggs, hash browns, crumbled bacon, green chilis and cheese for supper (have enough for another meal today) then watched a DVD - "De Lovely". Don't like Cole Porter's life style choices but I do love hearing his songs. The 'Special Features' about the production of it were as good as the movie.

@faerywings, Chris, that is some traffic jam!!! So sorry it was so bad all over town. Glad you finally made it to the shower. That was dedication on everyone's part!!! Hope traffic is back to normal now that the weekend is over.

@vickyday Think that is a wise decision to take the car - not the bike - for the trip. Sorry your tailbone was so sore after that last ride. Hope Mark is not getting sick... going from being hot to being cold is such a turn-around for him.

@taxed4ever Hope you are enjoying your trip.

Need another refill on coffee and do a few chores around the house.

Exactly! I'm thinking it may be caused from the Ozempic. His eating habits have drastically changed! He is definitely losing weight, so I'm thinking his body fat is decreasing making him chilly. That's a good thing for me, LOL!

I'm glad you finally got to the shower and that you enjoyed yourself. Those festivals and other events sure do tie up a lot of streets and I always feel sorry for the people who live there and are trying to get around. We used to live close to the big high school in town and on basketball nights (HS basketball was HUGE). Anyhoo, people parked everywhere because the lots filled up fast. It was almost impossible for us to find a place to park because we only had on-street parking. Coming home on a Friday night was really bad and I often had to walk blocks after I finally found a place to park, just to get to the house.

All I can tell you is that I've only done those ab wall things for 3 days and I can feel it. It also works my thighs. I've been doing twenty reps, and doing twenty more later on in the day. I'll let you know if I can tell a difference when I put my jeans on. That's the acid test for me. :floorlaugh:

I hope we get some good color this year, too. I was out walking yesterday and it hasn't started yet. There are a few trees here and there, but not much color in general. I'm glad we're not the only wusses. We want to be comfortable. Our heat kicked on about midnight last night and it felt really good. It was just starting to get chilly in here.

Good morning ladies. Not typing much right now until my thumb arthritis improves. I can hold a mouse and scrap but typing with both hands is difficult. It is feeling a bit better though. I think another day or two and I should be ok. Its a good reminder for me to bring the brace with me on our trip in case I need it.

@faerywings What an ordeal to get you to the baby shower (whose was it?).

@vickyday Your casserole is a bit different than mine. I use stewed tomatoes instead of soup, just mix it all together and cook on stovetop and add in onion powder, garlic powder, a dash of worcestershire and a few hot pepper flakes. I put the cheese on at the end and pop it under the broiler for a minute or just sprinkle overtop when serving.

@BrightEyes Sounds like you had a good day.

@Cherylndesigns Good for you for doing the exercises. We don't get much fall color here in our semi-arid climate. I miss it. We get a bit but nothing like what it is like down in the Vancouver area.

Time to get on with my day. HAGD everyone.

I can no longer crochet because of the arthritis in my thumbs. Knitting doesn't bother them, however! Hope your thumbs are better soon! Your version of the casserole sounds good, too! Mark's mom's recipe calls for bread crumbs on top but Mark doesn't like it as well, so I leave them off.

Same for us. Our woods are just barely beginning to change colors. But the onset of these cooler temps will probably speed up the process!

Rae @bcgal00 I'm glad you have a thumb brace. I have one as well and it really helps when I need it.

I'm really determined with my workout. I just went for a decently long walk, too. My dd just asked me if I'd lost weight. YAY - I haven't, but I think I'm firming up. I need to go weigh myself, as a matter of fact.

You must have the same situation with the leaves as we do. I know that if we drive for a couple of hours, the color is supposed to be beautiful. :(
