Daily Ooo's: Monday October 14, The Faery is sad Edition

:rip: to my computer. It died a very horrible and tragic death. I was all set to scrap a page and I went to install a font and got a virus that wiped out my computer. It was uninstalling programs as I frantically tried to get it to stop. System Restore Points were all corrupted and finally we could not even get it to run in safe mode. Just a black screen.
I am using an old laptop ATM but there is nothing on it and I am just so sad.
I have Carbonite so I think many of my files are there, but when I tried to Restore my scrap stuff from that, it was all missing. I don't know where the files could be..... my pictures are there (whew!!!) but all of my scrap stuff is gone.

Gary pulled out my hard drives and hooked them up as external devices, and thinks he might be able to recover some of the data. But as you all either know from experience or have heard, this is just a bad, bad thing.

Then to make my day even better, I went to pick Scott up, in his car. But Cait needed to stop at the store to pick up my hair dye. When we got back in the car, it wouldn't start. Key would turn lights would go on, but *nothing.* Of course he doesn't have jumper cables in his car, Gary is over a half hour away. I am trying everything-- his car has some quirks to say the least. I am using the buttons on the key remote, hitting the security switch and finally it starts.

I was shot by the time we all got home.

But it is a new day, and I am ready to face it with my Faery Wings unfurled!!! :angel:

Good morning - Chris I am so sorry about the loss of your computer. I have never understood why people send out viruses to hurt others. So cruel! Hope your husband restores all your scrap goodies. I have an offsite backup and a EHD and I put my photos on flickr. I feel I can never have too much backup. Sorry about the car problems. I am so grateful to have my mechanic in the family. However on Sat he said he had this form I needed to sign for his truck but we forgot and so he called yesterday so today I get to go up and visit him. On the good side my lovely DIL made me the cutest Devils hand bag and my son will give it to me when I see him. She is really one talented lady.

Gaaaaaah!!! :scared::Cry: what a way to start the week!! where did that font come from? honestly, i don't get WHY that sort of thing exists. what is the POINT of giving a lady in New Jersey a bad day??? i can relate a little to this, just having had my computer cease to exist after only 3 1/2 years. thankfully i didn't lose anyting except all the time it took me to reload some stuff and learn crappy Windows 8. i'm with Laurie. EHDs forever. didn't your anti-virus software pick this up before it got loaded? how awful. and a major pain in the a%%. :mmph: and the car thing. honestly. please, just step outside and scream "ENOUGH!!!!" it might make you feel a little better. this requires a rant. pick your time and place and let 'er RIP!:rant:

Nancy, i envy you SO much re:your in-family machanic. AND having a DIL who makes you nice stuff. how'd you get so lucky??

the plumber just left. a cheerful young man who knew what he was doing, worked for 2 hours, finished everything, charged us fairly and now he's gone. now DH will be installing the vanity, sink and faucet. :? i will likely be treated now to an cranky Old Guy, sighing loudly and/or swearing all through the afternoon. i may have to think of someplace i just HAVE to be besides home....
