Happy October! Where the heck did September disappear off to? Come baaaaaack!!! Please!!!!

Well, like I said yesterday, I do like the month of October as long as it doesn't snow like it did last year. THAT was insane! :faint2: Today should be a good day- I am off to Kohls with my mom. She got a 30% off coupon and we are going to pick out some new clothes for both of us. My mom taught me a good/bad lesson in life and that is to always put your kids first and the mom always goes without. Its so ingrained in me that it has become next to impossible to actually buy something for myself. My mom is the same way, so it should be interesting watching us try to encourage the other one to buy for themselves. :D

The aggravating part of my day is going to be going food shopping beforehand. My darn kids will not give me any idea of what they want to eat any more and I am so sick of trying to figure it out on my own.
(not to mention that actual cooking and cleaning and listen to them say "I don't like that any more....: :frusty:

Me Me Monday:
I am going to post up some of the LO's I did for the October Challenges!!! They are just amazing this month-- go check them out!

Phyllis- she sounds very intelligent and obviously has the degrees to go with it. If she goes for teaching, I wish her the best! I heard that PA is as bad, if not worse in teacher layoffs as NJ is.bet it is not good all over the US. Has she looked into tutoring? She could even do that on the side to gain experience and the money is better than in the districts.

Nana- I feel your pain, I hate shopping too! Did you have any luck finding good stuff??
Happy Birthday Josie!

Trudy- how was the hike? Woot for shorter hours, I really hope that it stays that way!

Good morning ladies! I had such a nice weekend. I actually got some scrapping done! Now, back to the rat race...and I do mean race! Tonight is Shaun's first night of tutoring and Sydney has her first night of basketball practice! My niece has her only home cross country meet too! Here is how the evening looks. Leave work early (3:30) to get kids from daycare and fly to cross country meet (4:15). Leave cross country meet (5:10)to fly back to city for Shaun's tutoring(5:30). Leave Shaun's tutoring (7:00) to fly back to town for Sydney's basketball (7:30). Leave Sydney's basketball (8:45) to get home to bed (the sooner the better). Each of those drive times is about 20 minutes! I already feel stressed!

Linda, i feel like i need to lie down after reading your post!! i guess NO NAP for you, then?? good luck with all that!

Chris, i got a laugh, imagining you and your mom in Kohl's, trying to make each other BUY something for themselves!! you'll have to make a page about your new stylish STUFF!! i'm going to Kohl's today, too--to use my $10 coupon to buy Hubby some undershirts. this will be thrilling, i'm sure. then on to grocery shopping, which shouldn't be too bad, except that my local supermarket has stopped having overnight stock people coming in to restock the shelves for the next day, so when i get to the store around 9, it looks like there was a run on groceries in advance of a blizzard or WW III. SO annoying. i've taken to pulling store managers aside and asking them if they actually want to SELL groceries?? well, then, they actually need to HAVE some out there on the shelves. honestly. things didn't used to be like this. we are on SUCH a downward slide, and people who are younger than me don't even realize that things used to be DIFFERENT. hahaa!! spoken like a true old fogey curmudgeon!

start the week off with a laugh. it helps....

I am going to clean up this house today if it kills me!! I seem to be way behind things again....It's driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it's lack of energy from the no sleeping situation!! At least I WAS scrapping a lot while I was awake..but I think it's all caught up to me...I have ZERO mojo!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to Josie's party yesterday...she is such a sweet calm little baby...cute as a button too!!! It was a typical FIRST CHILD, FIRST GRANDCHILD, FIRST BIRTHDAY party...(it's the Daddy's parents first grandbaby and the party was at their house)...there were about 70 people there, decorated the whole house....tons and tons of food!!! Poor thing, on this side of the family, she is #8 grandbaby, so it's more like "DO WE HAVE TIME TO GO GET A PRESENT?" Jamie (her mommy) was in 7th heaven!! The kids all had a good time....VERY WELL BEHAVED  So it was a good day!!!

I will be back for personals around lunch time ladies...have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning my "O" friends... off to work today, actually I am supposed to be on holidays until Wed. but told my good friend I would come in today to help with statements and three days of balancing the cash. Then they only have me scheduled for one more day this week Hooray!! I get to scrap again and perhaps get back into being able to do a lot more walking!! I really need to take off some poundage this old woman is getting really heavy!! Back to weight watchers??

Chris - I can't believe that its october already either!! I will have to get busy and get some Christmas presents purchased and get busy making my calendars right away. Yikes!! Hubby and I put off the hike and just took a nice long walk around the neighbourhood instead, we had so much yard work to get caught up on that we decided to get that done instead. My garden is now weed free (for a few days anyway). Have a great time shopping with your Mom, remember you are so deserving of a new outfit, put yourself first today!!

LindaS - Oh my goodness, I am pooped out just thinking of all the running around you have to do today, how do you do it?? But when I think back to when my kids were young I guess I did all that too, hubby worked shift work so I was the main taxi driver in our house. Don't know that I could keep up that pace nowadays! You are amazing!!!

Phylis - Your daughter sounds like she is one smart cookie and I really hope that she finds a job that she is happy with and that she is not over qualified for! You are right about the downhill decline, things did not used to be like this, but then things were much worse for our parents when they were young, but like you say it was WWII and that was to be expected. You always make me laugh in morning Phylis, thanks for that!!

Nana Linda - Hope you get your housework done, but scrapping would be much more fun! :becky: Sounds like this birthday party was a big success!! I sure hope that your sleeping pattern improves soon, I have found it a bit better now that the temps have dropped, but still wake up often with the those dam hot flashes. Have a great day sweetie!!

Well better get moving and get some breakfast. Should be home around 1pm and then I have got to get caught up in the gallery!! I have been a slacker lately!

I've never been so excited for the first of the month. All new challenges, yay!

Anyway, we had a most crazy weekend. Saturday, we had the funeral for our friend's child in the morning, and it was sweet and devastating. I didn't know what to say to her or her parents. What can you say? But he's not in pain and he's having a blast in heaven with Jesus, so I just have to keep telling myself that.

Then I worked all day and one of my husband's coworkers and her wife over for dinner, which was my idea but there was far too much school gossip for my taste. But still, we're trying to have people over more often and at least it gave us a reason to clean the house.

Then Sunday, I woke up with a sinus headache and felt miserable. I was considering staying home with Isaac and not going to church. Then, we were cutting Isaac's nails and he was wiggling all over the place and my husband misjudged how much of his thumb had and nearly took a chunck of it off. Even though we both know fingers bleed like crazy, we wanted to take him to the ER just to be safe, so nobody ended up going to church. They just cleaned it up real good and sent us home. Said not to put anything on it because he will put it in his mouth and could choke. Then this morning that tip is entirely black!! I think that's what they thought would happen, but it freaks me out so I called his pediatrician and am now waiting for a call back. And on top of that, I still feel sick!

Going to scrap my worries away, I think.

Goodmorning and Happy October my very lovely O'ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Top o' the morning to all a you's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all it's windy like a bugger here... wow, oh my word someone please turn off the fall fans!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways Saterday's party went well, I didn't pass out from having 14 extra kids in the house only incident was I was running thru the yard looking for one of the kids' shoes and my leg got ripped open from some wire, no biggie but bled like a stuck pig! and yesterday was my son's 7th birthday nice and quiet day with him playing with all his presents:) Today is my daughter Mykala's birthday and we already gave her a present (ipod touch) and she's never been so happy, and the one thing she wanted was a tomato soup cake (SERIOUSLY KID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) so that's done and then my DH needed me to make a payment so I had to rush around this morning trying to make the bank at 9:30 since my DH took off with his bank card and I can't do online banking without his number.... and the house is finally clean and I have a few moments to sit and relax and this AWFUL stench is by my desk here and I look under and one of my STINKY ASS TEENAGERS left his CRUSTY FREAKIN SOCKS UNDER MY CHAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I swept here already and musta missed them . OH MY WORD THE SMELL IS SO BAD I"M GONNA PASS OUT. QUICK WHERE"S THE FEBREEZE????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Chris your life sounds like mine... why do we have to feed the animals anyways??????????????????????????????? LOL, well I'm lucky my kids arent to picky they usually eat what's on the table, my one son INHALES his food, I swear he has no taste buds. Same kid I kept calling poison control for when he was a mere lad. He ate EveryTHING from laundry soap to Ink from my printer! Had to get his stomache pumped twice. and no I'm not a perfect Mom watching him every second. well mostly, but we do have to disapear to pee sometimes too... LOL

Ugggggghhhhhh Linda S have fun with all that driving around... One thing I had doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just stopping in to say hello!

Had a great weekend! My son, his wife, and little grand daughter arrived Thursday night and stayed the entire weekend. My other son came home Friday to see his brother and left Saturday night. I sent him packing with a few home cooked meals he could put in the freezer.

Thoroughly enjoyed Brenna--she's two, almost 3. We even got to baby sit while her parents went out. Love baby sitting while the parents are gone!!

After the kids left on Sunday afternoon, Craig and I helped unload 1,000 pumpkins. Our church sponsors the pumpkin patch in our town. Didn't need to go to the gym today--had my workout last night!!

Work today. Trying to catch up on some scrapping for the class I'm taking.

Will be a short week for me. Have a retreat that I am working Thursday-Sunday. Best get my hind parts in gear!!

have a great Monday!

Well happy Anniversary Elisa!! Wow three years already?? I should check and see when my anniversary is.

Jen - Love your sock story, boy do I remember that smell!! My son was notorious for leaving his sweaty, stinky socks lying around Peeeeuuuuuuu!!! The only thing worse is the smell of their hockey equipment left in the bag and not aired out. Yuck!!!!!!!!! What the heck does tomato soup cake taste like???

Kim - Ouch for your little guys finger!! Don't worry he will heal quickly!
