Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and got sooo much extra stuff accomplished with that additional hour yesterday. What? You didn't manage to cram 29,435 more things into your day that you had hoped for at the start of the day, like I did? (Oh. Was it just me who thought I could cram 29,435 things into the day?)
I *did* get quite a bit done, probably more than it felt like I did. But even so, by dinner time, I felt as if I had only crossed off a few small things from my list. And my to-do list for today also feels pretty long.

The best part of the day was filling the 1 ml sample vials for the essential oil blend I made for the retreat. I can still smell it in my office. The paper I had put on my desk to protect it from drips is in the garbage under my desk. I keep getting wafts of it. mmm mmmmm!

So yeah, today is more of the same. Putting away the Halloween decor, lesson plans, grocery order, and meal planning. I poked around on Amazon yesterday to look for gift ideas for myself and my family. Aside from another pair of good wool socks and a non-stick frying pan... I got nuthin'

What are you asking for/gifting this year?

Yeah-- I also added more bird seed/suet cakes to my list. But I am done with the suet. We put a brand new giant, $20 block of suet out yesterday. No sign of the bears since September, so I thought we'd be ok. The dogs were barking in the middle night. Gary didn't see anything, but when I checked the feeder camera this morning, I saw it had been hit again by a big bear. And--- he took off with the suet block. :bawling:
At least nothing got destroyed like last time. So that's good.....

Time to get my day going and see if I can finish 29,434 things today!

Big hugs!!

For whatever reason, my birds have flown the coop! The only thing I have see lately is one young goldfinch, a downy woodpecker, and a wren. And no-one has touched my suet block! And it has turned black, so I am going to have to pitch it! But, it was a small block.....not a $20 one! YIKES! Well, at least someone will enjoy yours! Mine...pfft...money out the window!

Gifts????????? :lalala: I'm not listening!

Good Morning!
Been awake since about 3:30 and decided to just give in and get up at 5:30 when Mark left for work. I had a lot of stuff to do today, anyway. Starting with getting Day 3 of my challenge posted. I got the church deposit ready last night, so that is done. I need to start working on my devotion for the widows next week! And I need to get the postcard reminders in the mail tomorrow for those widows who do not have email. So, yeah, I guess getting up at 5:30 was the smart thing!
I think I got another challenge done yesterday.....yeah, the fantasy one. I'm not very creative with those!
I also had to do the CP challenge over as I realized I used 52 Inspiration instead of CP product! WHAT??!! I get those confused, LOL!
Probably not going to lunch with Mark today. I have half of a Wendy's Apple Pecan salad left from yesterday's lunch to eat.
OK, gotta get my completed Days 1-3 posted around town!
Hope you all have a great Monday!

My niece got Thanksgiving planned. She and her husband are hosting. Everyone is bringing something. Sydney and I have seven items. It started with three. But by the time that we got finished, we had seven. That's ok...it really is much easier than if we were hosting and doing everything so it will be good. And it will be different than what we have done in the past...and that is good too because this will be a hard one for everyone.
Why am I not surprised that you and Syd are bringing half of the meal? :rotfl: How many people will be there?
I am sure it is going to be very difficult for everyone but being together will feel reassuring and comforting. I imagine everyone will laugh and cry. ♥
I actually got my first November challenge done yesterday so that feels good.
:highfive:

I'm going to try it. I read a little bit about it. We have lots of trees in our area. I think that I will try a short one this week and then I think that I'll get Sydney to do one with me over Thanksgiving. I am excited about this!
YAY!!!!!!! The thing I try to impart to my groups is that there is no right/wrong way to experience this. When I give an invitation, it is up to each person to decide how they want to approach it. I suggest that an open mind and playful attitude are helpful but really, it's entirely in their control. In the last session, I invited the group to pick up the dried leaves and smell them, crinkle them, and if they have happy memories of making leaf piles, throw them into the air and watch them fall. Some of the people looked at me like I was crazy, and others were laughing as they did it. Both- 100% acceptable. :D
As we walk, I also ask if anyone wants to share anything they saw or felt. Since you are going to go on your own, maybe bring a journal or notepad. You've probably read about sit-spots. Literally sitting in a spot and taking "it" --whatever "it" is to you-- in. Some people like to bring journals and sketch or write.
Just tossing thoughts out there for you.
My new rules...I'm not getting annoyed when I don't get something done. I just push it to a new day. Or leave it off the list completely and start fresh. Let's see how long that lasts! I don't expect it to last long but I'm not going to get upset about that either. And, I think that I am going to try at least one AJ challenge this month. It's not quite my style but I'm going to give it a whirl!
I like that rule. I wish I could follow that rule.
As for the AJing... Do ittttttttt!

I will be busy in the kitchen today. Going to be making a big pot of enchiladas sauce and maybe making Apple Brown Betty desert. The enchiladas sauce takes about 3 hours so getting it done a day early and then freeze several tubs for future meals. DSon-in-law#1 will be coming here tomorrow and spending Monday night before he heads to Fort Stockton on Tuesday to do kids' eye clinic. I will have him and grandson for Monday night's supper. I would rather spend time visiting with him rather than spend it in the kitchen cooking. :D
That is awesome that you'll have family with you again! Smart to cook yesterday and sounds delicious!
ummmmmmm Faery, thats a silly question!! Of course I got photos!!! Only about 30 of them though. :giggle4:
I know that you don't share pics of the kiddos but I bet they were adorable!
Some of my first LO were bad and way to literal and some where way over explained instead of letting them speak for themselves.
They. Were. NOT. Bad. Staaaap saying that! :lol23:
They were starting point and look at how far you have come with tapping into your inner core.

But they were authentic and that is all that matters.
Yes!^^^^^ That is all that matters ♥
I dont know what I did but my neck pain is off the charts. It hurt so bad yesterday I was crying
Oh no. I am so sorry. My neck went into spasms once so badly, I had to be taken to the ER on a backboard. Probably the most intense pain I ever had and that is including labor (not the actual delivery but contractions).
Healing thoughts to you~~~~~

Hi everyone!
We went to Ace Hardware this morning and told hubby that one sign that we are getting old is we enjoy going to the hardware at opening time and be back home before lunch because I want to take a nap. Lol!
I hope the cold is not too much wherever you are. We are around 90-100 so here we call it "almost winter" haha!
Have a wonderful week!
Hi Shaui! :waving1 I am laughing at the"getting old" comment. I can relate.

t's funny how getting older changes your perspective on different things in life! We enjoy not moving from the couch and/or recliner on our Sunday afternoons!
Same!!
After the Wicked Walk, I was counting the seconds until I could get back home and into bed. The "kids" I work with were all getting ready to go out for food and drinks. I remember the days when I would go out at 10 pm.

I hope that you have fun with the 30 Day challenge! Your first two days look awesome!
As I take after my grandmother when cooking - especially enchiladas sauce... I am a look, smell, taste cook. Don't measure but go by how it looks, smell and taste... and adjust seasonings as it cooks. Told all my family... if they want to learn how I make the sauce... they had to be with me and watch...(look smell and taste) when I make it.
My grandmas cooked the same way, and my mom too. "Once around the pot" was a big one for measuring seasoning.s A lot of recipes have been lost when they can't recreate them the way they remember. Thanksgiving stuffing is a yearly tradition- how close is it to Grandma's?

We picked up this new Ninja cooker, called the "Possible Cooker". Kind of like a crock pot, but kind of like an all in one that also bakes, steams, about 8 other features. Tonight I made chicken and vegetables, and it came out pretty good for using it pretty much the first time!
That sounds very cool!
Even reading about it there is a wash of peace over me.
Aww, that is wonderful!! Looking at pictures of trees or even your houseplants have been shown to lower your stress levels, in case you can't get outdoors. :christmastree:

Thank you!

Good morning ladies. I didn't accomplish much yesterday. Certainly not as much as I had planned. But today is a new day. I need to get the meals planned for the week. I'm doing a better job of cooking...but now I need to do a healthier job of cooking. Maybe, I will take it a step at a time and just get started with the meal planning before trying to make them healthy. :lol23: And I need to follow up with Breck's on where my bulbs are. Plus shopping for some birthday gifts. November is really the biggest birthday month...my 26 year old niece, my brother, my son and my oldest great nephew. And, this will be the first year with no Angie...so I need to spend some time looking for thoughtful gifts.

And I need to catch up on my November challenge and also get on the move with my Cheery O tasks. I'll be back in a few minutes with personals.

@faerywings
:bawling:
I thought bears were supposed to hibernate...why are they still eating your suet. I have loved seeing Gary's videos of the bears but I will tell you that it does freak me out a little bit. I really wouldn't want bears on my porch.

I think there will be 21 but six of those are 5 and under...which Sydney claims is worse because they put things on their plates and then they don't even eat them! And she isn't wrong!

@vickyday

Goodness Vicky, I think you deserve a nap after all of that!

Oh... I slept so well last night... guess I really needed the down comforter on the bed! Nice and warm. dance3
Waiting for the house to warm up enough to take my :showering:and get dressed.

It was so nice to walk into a clean kitchen this morning. Glad I got that done after I finished cooking yesterday. So I can play/scrap while I wait for DS-in-law#1 to arrive.

@faerywings @LSlycord and @AK_Tracy .... I no longer make daily lists of things to do.... just write info of what, times on my white board. Only have 3 things for the next 2 months!!! :floorlaugh: Oh... I forgot -Yesterday I just got the property tax bill that is due next week... I pay it in person now... 2 years ago several neighborhood post office boxes were broken into and the tax payment was lost. So now I drive 20 miles and pay it there.

Ah... the heater just shut off so time to get my shower. BBL

LOL...I need to get my to do lists shorter! I get so jealous, each time I read about you making those enchiladas. I kind of cook like you do...even if I start with a basic recipe, I just start making adjustments according to taste.

I would love to be able to take naps! But if I do, I don't sleep at all at bedtime! Unfortunately!

Good Morning ladies!
The temps are nearing more normal but still not as cool as they need to be. its crazy.

Oh no. I am so sorry. My neck went into spasms once so badly, I had to be taken to the ER on a backboard. Probably the most intense pain I ever had and that is including labor (not the actual delivery but contractions).

I'm sorry you had neck pain like that. Labor was harsh and hurt but I would take that over this neck pain. Saturday was the worst and had me in tears. I've been sitting on my heating pad and having hubs rub the tight spots off and on for 24 hours now and its much better. I actually slept last night without waking up from pain.

Hmmmmm did I get more done with the extra hour? Nope. Sure didn't. Oh well. I got a couple layouts done. Todays goal is the AJ layout. But its also first Monday of month so we shall see. Its appliance cleaning day along with laundry and making dinner. Well, dogs demanding food so I better go feed those adorable faces. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Well here I am, back after a crazy October. Over the weekend I spent almost all day Saturday helping with get-out-the-vote canvassing. I think it's funny that we lived 35 years in NJ with its off-year governors race, then we moved to Virginia, the only other state with the governors race the year after the presidential election. Then on Sunday I led a 3.5 mile guided walk on our trail system, mostly for people new to the area so they can see how to access the trails and where they go. At one end is a shallow lake, with a bald eagles nest over it. The eagles are gone for the winter, but it's fun to go look anyway. There are a jillion kinds of birds there all year round. One of my friends saw an osprey this year, and there is regularly a black swan in the winter -- quite a mystery since black swans aren't native to North America.

This morning after my bike ride I made a pot of beef vegetable soup so we can have dinner tonight. I have a board meeting that ends at 5:30 then off to the library for book group by 7:00 so squeezing in a meal is a challenge.

We will get a new washer and dryer delivered this week, so David is working at painting the closet that they go in. So he's removed the last remnant of mid-90s wallpaper that was in the house. Just crossing our fingers we measured properly and they will fit.

I'm going to go look at this month's challenges before I leave for my meeting, so have a great day.

Well hello ladyO's

@faerywings Mixing essential oils sound like fun...with benefits for fragrant garbage!! Wow that is a brave bear thief...too bad he stole the whole block but good that it didn't do other damage. I guess you are spoiling it so it will keep coming back for more till it hibernates. Our friends in VT who have bear problems bring their feeders every night.

@vickyday Oh I really get the real relaxing on sunday --recliner, feet up, a show on TV. I figured you would be by the campfire at the cabin. I getup early by 6 and always got up with hubby for work....I always found I could get so much done before I left for work my self and prodding the kids to get ready for school. Here I am retired for 12 years and still get up while hubby sleeps for hours more.

@Terri M How nice there are so many birds at your lake at the trail end...great photo ops I bet.
Good luck with washer and dryer install. nice to get fresh paint and wallpaper removal.

@BrightEyes I agree it's best to get up to clean kitchen. I always try to clean up kitchen after cooking as I hate to get up to a mess in the morning.

@LSlycord that sounds like a nice Thanksgiving group. I always loved to have a large group for the holidays so I hope you have fun.

Last night we had friends come over for pizza delivery--hubby ordered and cleaned up. It was nice to have friends over but I was exhausted when they left. Today I had the first of 3 weekly gel shot in my knee so hopefully will ease the knee pain so I can get more out of PT. Tonight we are going to club for dinner and celebrate a friends birthday I hope to leave as soon as the cake is served.

I hope you all have a great evening.

I know you are really looking forward to getting all the surgeries behind you! Won't be able to keep you down! ;)
