And we have now re-entered March weather. It is cold and damp and I cannot seem to get warm. It rained all day yesterday, thank goodness not like in Maryland-- I heard 9" of rain fell!. It isn't supposed to rain here today but we are 51* right now. Yuck!

I spent hours cleaning the kitchen yesterday which, if you saw how small my kitchen is, you would be shocked. But I did the deep clean, scrubbing cabinets and moving appliances and all that. After I was done, Gary fried hots dogs so there was that. :eek:hwell:
I started to scrap page for a June Challenge and it is mostly done so it shouldn't take more than 2 days to do. Heh. Then we watched a couple of episodes of Drunk History- I thought that was a ridiculous idea of a TV show but it is actually pretty darn funny. Makes me very happy that I haven't been drunk like that in a looooong time. :)

Today, I will clean my bedroom and we have to do Floyd's fluids. The poor cat sees us coming and hides. he doesn't hide for Cait, just me and Gary. I wish I know how to make this better for him. I also have to get ready for food shopping tomorrow, which also includes me buying what I need for the party so I need to take a good inventory of my fridge.

I hope that the sun is shining wherever you are.

Nancy- Did the rain stop at all by you? Hope the BBQ wasn't too soggy. Worth it to eat those yummy desserts at any rate.

How awful to hear about the suicide. That is terrible and I cannot imagine how that mother is feeling.

Rae- great find of the spice jars and for $2, shopping karma still exists for you! Glad that you were able to putter about a little while. Is B settled in the new unit yet? Hope that the gardening helped you like it does for me.

Felis- no worries about a boring life- mine is too, aside from broken pickle jars. ha! What a sweet story about the street dog walking with you. W had another accident overnight and I said to Gary that it is a good thing that she is so cute or we would have given her back ages ago. Then we looked at her being her utterly goofy self and laughed-- not a chance, it breaks our hearts knowing that she was a stray and scheduled to be killed. So I have to steam clean again. *shrugs and smiles*
The Stephanie Plum series is perfect if you want to read something that requires very little in the way of thinking or remembering. They are cute and silly. Very silly! I enjoy them because they take place in New Jersey, which is the state that I live in so I can relate to some of the things that they describe. Jersey attitude and driving and food. :D
There are 24 books in the series and after the 1st 10 or so, you can skip over pages and pages and still know what is going on.

Anyway, I better get some breakfast and get my day going. xoxo!

good morning - well it is dreary yes a good word dreary no rain but damp and cloudy. The BBQ yesterday was so much fun. It did not start until after 3pm and the rain had pretty much stopped but it was cold. I should have worn my winter jacket LOL but luckily my son had his heated jackets so he loaned me his and then I was toasty warm. The food was great! And so was the company. I love that the kids grew up with are still the ones he hangs with these days. They are a super group of people. At one point they decided to play flip cup. They needed to even out the sides so my DH and I were drafted to play. Normally you fill the cups with beer but for my DH and I they allowed water. One side with my son as the captain had all guys while my son friend had just 4 guys and 3 girls. And you can guess which side one yep the one with the girls. Made me so happy. And the crack up part was I was really good. Let me tell you I got some rave reviews and I just said that is why my boys could play so well. We left earlyish and let the kids have fun. Finally today the Stanley Cup Final begins. Yesterday I watched the media day coverage and I love listening to the players. All the people yesterday are happy at the two final teams and will be happy with which ever wins!

Chris always good to do a deep clean! And I too cannot get warm and have my space heater on. I hope to see sun by the end of the day!

Felis I guess sometimes the words we use do not make sense. The party was held outside but because NJ weather is notorious for being fickle they have umbrellas and a huge top that covers the patio so no one gets wet. But really it was at most a drizzle and no one needed covering. All that was needed was warm coats. And as far a the young man no they were not into suicide cults. I am not sure that any one can ever really know why some people cant see that life will get better and death only hurts those left behind. I think that he probably did not know how to ask for help after the death of his brother. That is something that needs to be addressed is men being able to ask for help. Sorry that you are having so much rain. And boring is not always bad.

Rae so glad you check in. Glad you are getting so much done! And glad to know that Bailey is smiling. Congrats on all the goodies you found.

Jean and Trudy HI!

Have a great day all!

Morning everyone... It was a very busy weekend! We had a lovely time with the grands! They arrived just before dinner, so we had our meal and then Sadie wanted to paint and Isaac wanted to finish reading his book. So DH, our son and I went to the bottom front porch and sat there and chatted with a glass of wine until it was time to put the kids to bed. Kind of sad that they no longer ask for us to read to them or to lay down with them until they fall asleep  They are both growing up way to quickly!! It was an early morning rise for everyone and I made chocolate chip pancakes for them (they always ask for them) Then we played a boardgame and decided to take Storm out for a little walk. Later we had a nice light lunch at Saison's OMG they make the very best quiche and omelettes! The kids had huge cinnamon buns, so they did not get much good nutrition so far LOL. Off to the in-laws to pick up Jason's boat trailer that he has had stored there and a nice visit with them. Decided to order pizza for supper (I ate the toppings) then they were off to get back home before it was too late. Jason had to go to the airport later that night to pick up his lovely mate Jackie from her trip to Boston. I will see the kids again on Thursday evening as I will be staying with them for 5 days while their mom and dad find a rental to live in for 10 months in Toronto.

Chris - It sounds like it is very chilly for you today, sure hope it doesn't last too long! What crazy weather hot and sunny and now cold and rainy again! :mmph: At least you got some good deep cleaning done! I really need to clean out my cupboards and re-arrange things, but I just don't seem to have the ambition to do it just yet. My son did get my printer fixed, he is so smart! He had to make the modem act a bit differently to get the printer to recognize it and connect. I would never would have been able to do that LOL. Good for you for also starting a scrap page, I really, really need to get going on something today! What is wrong with me lately? I just can't seem to get motivated to get anything done. Yesterday I spent the whole day cleaning the house and getting my groceries. Of course I forgot a few things and now I have to head back to the store again! :gaah: I hate that!

Nancy - Holy Moly it must have been very cold for your BBQ if you had to put on a heated coat! Sounds like you all had a great time though! WTG for being so good at the flip cup game! How nice that your son still hangs with his childhood buddies! Nice that you left a bit early so that they could let loose LOL! I bet you will be happy to be watching your hockey again, DH has really lost a lot of interest in the playoffs, but I am sure he will be watching these final games! Hope that the weather warms up for you and you can turn off the space heater for good!

Felis - For the most part my life is pretty boring too LOL! The only real busy times that I have are when I am with the grandkids, they always keep me on my toes LOL Nothing wrong with a boring life at least you are able to enjoy being outside or just reading a book, so many others in the world wish they could have such a life I am sure! I hope that you are able to find a good book for your acquaintance that lent her iPad to you that would be such a thoughtful thing to do!

Rae - Your shopping Karma continues! That is awesome and so nice to hear that B is starting to improve a bit! Always a very positive thing when you can see the smiles stat to appear again! It sounds like you are very organized with your meal prep etc. Its important to keep yourself healthy, but I am sure that you know that! I think of you always and hope that B will be able to move out of the hospital soon!

:hello: Jean I hope that you are keeping well!

I better get another coffee and then get started on a page, before DD facetimes with me. It is Jonah's birthday today so I will have to send him a little txt and wish him a Happy One! Already got his gift to him so that is good. I think Heather is planning a bit of a picnic in the backyard at their place for his birthday dinner. Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Just a quick hello, ladies. I'm a bit tired today. Didn't get much chance to relax over the wkend and I'm feeling a bit drained today. We'll be staying home from the hospital tonight as Monday is generally my busiest day with work and I'll need to work some overtime tonight to keep up with it. I did my prep work yesterday, roasted sweet potato and root veggies to keep in the fridge for the week for quick side dishes. Later today I want to make a couple of meatloafs to freeze and grab some marinated steaks for D for quick meals. I tried some new (to me) veggies in my roasting mix. I like them. I got purple rashes, turnips, purple yams and beets (which I've never cooked from raw before). I bought a new spice (sumac) and added some of it into my all-purpose blend and it gives it a bit more of a kick, kind of like paprika.

I'm hoping tonight I can figure out what is wrong with my wacom tablet on my LR computer. Because of our busy schedules, I am trying to make time to sit with D every night for at least an hour or so before bed and maybe sometimes I can scrap on that computer while staying in the room with him. I haven't used that computer in at least 3-4 months and when I tried it last night, the wacom tablet would move the cursor across the screen but it wouldn't like me grab or click onto anything. I might need a new one b/c I think that one is quite old now.

Chris - I have read all the Stephanie Plum books and am currently reading the newest one. Our local library is discontinuing the use of ADE to access and download the digital books which sucks b/c it was working just fine for me all this time. Now they are using Overdrive for their books and I can't get them to load onto my Kobo reader. That sucks. But at least I can use their app on my iphone and ipad. Why do they have to change things when it worked so well? Grrrr. Poor Floyd. Taz is like that with his flea/tic medication. He will race downstairs and hide under my desk, shaking. He hates it. B is much calmer in the neuro unit but still has anger issues. Unfortunately they are going to remove security and care aide support for her so the risk of her getting out is going to be a big issue and we're all scared b/c with her lack of impulse control, it doesn't take much to tick her off and if there is no one to stop her, she'll run out of the unit. We are all prepared for things to go really bad and have to accept the possibility of hope for the best. She's still too damaged for any therapy so the poor girl just sleeps or stares off into space a lot b/c there is not much she can do without any memory. But, the memory has improved just a bit recently. She actually remembered an hr after eating it, that I brought her a muffin.

Nancy - sounds like a fun day and too funny that you were so good at the game LOL. I'm sure you'll be enjoying the play-offs now.

Trudy - sounds like a great wkend and then again later this wk you get more family time. Cleaning cupboards??? Ugh. That and so much more needs to be done around here. Glad your son got the printer fixed. I rely on D to fix things or get them working. He is much more informed and patient about electronics and gadgets. I couldn't get a wireless speaker to work on the laptop at the hospital (the built-in speaker just wasn't loud enough for us to hear a lot of the movies we downloaded) but D finally got it working and it was so nice to have the volume at a good level to hear everything. We managed to watch 2 movies with B yesterday.

Felis - B and I have read a lot of Cassandra Clare but its been quite awhile so I forget the stories. I just brought her up one of the Immortal series' books yesterday and she got excited about it. She doesn't remember the story but she remembered that she liked it. That is so cute about the dog wanting to walk with you. Taz will often join others on their walk and then keep looking at me, to encourage me to come along too. Then when I don't come, he will come back to me but keep looking back at them, looking sad that we aren't all walking together LOL.

Jean - hope all is well.

I'd better get back to work. Hope you all have a great day.

Chris and Nancy, could we trade weather? It is too hot for me now or almost. Temp in the dining room is 83 and my comfort limit is about 84. Worse luck have to cook some pasta for a tuna salad so we can have a cold dinner tonight while watching hockey. The weekend was nice and SIL has left Texas with things now in the hands of an attorney. I have a box or two of family history stuff on the way. Cemetery will fill the niche tomorrow. So things are moving along. And it will cool off by the weekend.

Felis, if we don't write when life is boring, I at least would be pretty quiet. But you did have an interesting story about the dog. Hoping your week goes well.

Chris, glad you can smile at W after another accident. She sure does have issues, but great luck that she went to you. Poor Floyd, not much you can do to make him not hide. When you mentioned the dogs barking in the night I wondered if a bear had them excited, but guess not.

Nancy, fun time at the BBQ! Love the story of the gals' team winning the game and you shining at it. I'm stunned it was that cold though. Have fun with the hockey tonight.

Trudy, you too had fun stuff over the weekend. And more to look forward to, but still it's keeping you from settling in to the normal rhythm of your days. May be part of the scrapping problem. When I couldn't concentrate I couldn't do it, but with a little more calm and some challenges, I seem to be getting it back.

Rae, I was happy reading about B's improvements until I got to the part about security being dropped. I'm so sorry to hear that. Will be thinking of you all and wishing her calm. Your routine of prep sounds good as does a little time with D each evening.

Memorial Day here in the US with many events commemorating those fallen in the military.

As always Trudy is right and you have to understand me correctly I strongly appreciate possibility that I have to can arrange and live my life exactly as I want! And it's not what happen to you, but how you described it, at some days I just can't find interesting way to describe this routine of work, cleaning and (thank you again Nancy) Riverdale watching. I'm so hook up to this show right now :) .

Chris, sorry to hear it's so cold for you! Hope is not for long! The rain here really tied us, even it wasn't actually a rain but drizzle every day. It must been satisfaction for you that are cleaned so strictly your kitchen! As Jean is already said there isn't option to make Floyd feels more comfortable with the treatment, they just don't understand that this is for their good. Cats are so independent and all these procedures always will make them nervous. I always feels bad about you, when Whiskey makes troubles inside, because it's obvious that she is been born for yard dog and you have to go through all that just because you don't have this option in your area. But she is still young and I'm sure will learn the inside rules soon or later!

Nancy, wow, so cold for jackets don't sound nice. Thanks for the explanation, now this description of the patio make more sense to me! These kind of pergolas are clever decision. And so good that the cold is not scared you and you are had so much fun! I'm not surprised at all that you are so good at the game! It sounds totally in your style.
Oh, you are so right about the men and their fear of being weak sometimes. I can understand one to make this final decision, but both sons, poor their mom, that is so heartbreaking! Actually my favorite actor Colin Morgan made this short film as a charity try to helping to bring awareness to the issues surrounding male suicide.
When I feels really bad I remind myself the message of this film, which is that we have to handle all our pain, because we are on this world not to be happy, but to save someone else.

Trudy, what a lovely weekend you are had with the kids and I'm sure now these moments are even more precious for you when time of their moving is closer! Heather have such a lovely idea for bday picnic! Best wishes to Jonah!

Rae, your awesome organisation skills are so helpful for your whole family! I hope they appreciate it! Fingers crossed to can fix your old computer! I'm at the same way with the Cassandra Clare books, I read them long ago, so I can still say favorite moments, but not the concrete book in which it was. I was read somewhere this thought that the only good thing of the amnesia is that you can read your favorite book like it's for the first time. Isn't it amazing how Bailey remember the feeling even when she is forget the story?! How she react to favorite songs and smells?

Jean, I saw your travel pages for Joanne's challenge and they are so brilliant! Love this journaling and especially the map. The hot weather is never fun for me too, but the nights after hot day are always so precious, we love to let windows open and listen the crickets bugs.

Hmm, tonight I feel my brain little blur and translation comes very hard, sorry! I think it's better to wish you all Good night girls! Sleep well!
