Please, may all the gods be kind to me today. Grant me the serenity and all that good stuff. :p
Don't mind me, everything is fine, just still so *loud.*

The upstairs bath is all done aside from the medicine cabinet that needs to be installed. Everything looks amazing-- and clean! They picked a super light grey paint for the walls- the tile is white, the vanity is mid-grey, and the floor is a darker grey "wood." It's a small bathroom but the colors they picked make it look open and airy.
The floor in their LR is halfway done. I'm not sure if Gary is going to be able to move from the sofa today to finish it. He wouldn't stop to take breaks and I was worrying about him. His blood sugar kept dropping from the exertion and he was working with power saws. Yikes. He already cut the tip of his thumb off once, I don't want him to have another go.
Between the saw and banging from the slats - I had such a headache and I'm not sure how he is dealing with it.

I helped out with some of the painting and some of the flooring, whoever needed me was where I was.
In between, I worked on my grocery list, talked to my mom, and did some general week-ahead prep. I'm going to my parents on Friday to give them a hand with whatever it is they need. Based on the conversation with my mom, I am either helping her clean out her closet or maybe the basement or maybe painting their picnic table? *shrug* Painting baseboards was mentioned too. LOL!

I have to deep clean the fridge today, it's been a while and stuff is getting shoved to the back. I have a container of opened ricotta that needs to get dumped out but I am scared to open the lid.
Depending on my mood, the amount of work I get done, and whether Gary needs my help, I have Coloring Crew this afternoon.
It's back to colder weather this week so I won't be able to get outside for any yard work. I really really really want to uncover my plants but it is not time yet. (Soon, Faery, soon...)

Hope that everyone has a fab day today! xo

@vickyday Good job walking! Does your cell phone have a "fall" setting? I know my watch does, not sure about my cell phone. But that might be something to look into when you are out walking. IIRC, there's a personal safety setting that alerts your emergency contact if there is a fall or crash detected. Something to look into. I make sure my GPS is set when I hike. Just in case.

@BrightEyes How are you feeling today, any less achy? How many books did you read this weekend?
I am reading Pretty Girls by Karen Slaughter and I don't recommend it- It started out intriguing and I still like the mystery of it. Lots of twists and turns but there is a lot of graphic violence that I am not a fan of. I'm 3/4 done so I'll keep going until I figure it all out.

@Cherylndesigns Did the dogs ever go back home before you need to let your girls outside? Jaida almost took my arm, off yesterday when I took her out. The was another dog walking down the street and I wasn't ready for her and she pulled me across the lawn. It was a *miracle* she didn't drag me through dog poop. Hahaha!!
My shoulder is killing me from that today. I should stock up on Advil -- we are all gonna need it this week :D
I am so impatient for the warm weather too!! I want to put my lemon verbena outside so I have room to start some seeds indoors. I want all my plant babies!! NOW!! YKWIM? :flower:
On Friday, Gary told me that his endocrinologist had had it with the US healthcare system. He says the profession has mucked it all up and that he hates that he can't treat his patients without all the red tape from the insurance companies. You know it has to be bad when the doctor is the one complaining. :/

Your fish tacos sound delish! I got frozen pollack fillets from the FP (which I will cook when Cait isn't here or she'll gag from the smell). Think I could bread them and cook them in the air fryer for tacos? I don't think I have ever cooked pollack before so I don't know how to prepare it.

Hope everything is going smoothly with your ILs, @taxed4ever

hugs!

Morning, gals. Another freezing morning... only 33*F right now. It may make it to 58*F. That is the forecast for the next 3 days. We had rain off and on all day yesterday so I had a PJ day. Dee and Jim made it to SD in the afternoon so he is ready for work today. Was so happy to hear from her that they were there and settled into the RV Park.

I got the bad news yesterday that DD#2's hubby is in the hospital with a stroke. She called DD#3 at midnight on Saturday night. He had aphasia and was talking gibberish, one arm was numb and he didn't know where he was (in the hospital). He did recognize his wife and remembered her name. She had to go home to get more oxygen for herself and get some rest when she called DD#3 to let her know what has happened. We are waiting for news on how bad it is and what the plans are. DD#3 is preparing to go there to help DD#2. The family could use a few prayers right now.

Poor Gary! I hope he recouped overnight! You will ALL be so glad when this project is done! But you will look at it with pride! Just remember.....this, too, shall pass!
We are going to be on the cooler side again this week, too! I will have to bundle up more for my walks.

Hmmm.....I'll have to look into the GPS and also see if there is a "fall" setting! That would be great for me since I have osteoporosis and have to be careful! I love walking in the woods, but I have to be sure and stay on the solid pathway where the car travels because the rest of the trails are leaf-covered, stick-covered, etc. and could cause me to fall or twist or break an ankle! I don't need/want that at all!

Good Monday Morning to All!
Hope you had a great weekend! The weather was pretty decent yesterday and turned out to be a beautiful day on Saturday, even though it was calling for cloudy all day! It is going to be cooler this week. Right now it is 47 feels like 45. I hear my wind chimes outside! It is to be high in mid 50's today with sun/clouds. That's about 25* cooler than it was on Saturday!

No plans for today other than picking up my grocery order. I plan to go to the foot track by Mark's work to walk before I get the groceries. I'm hoping Mark wants to go to lunch so I can kill all 3 birds with one stone! ;). I need to find another audiobook to listen to while I walk and I'll have to dress warmer today.

I'm still trying to work on my completed scrapbook pages so I can get them printed at Persnickety. I'm trying to weed through them as I have so many and some of them are where I have used the photos in more than one page. I need to trim the 150+ down to 50 of the 8x8's. Those are the day-to-day activities throughout the year. I still need a few pages to reach the 50 of the 8.5x11 bike pages and the 50 of the 12x12's of the monthly reviews. I'll have to throw some of the day-to-day pages in that group.

Mark just called. He isn't hungry for lunch, so we are going to skip it for today. My grocery order is done, too, so I think I will sign off of here and get dressed, find an audiobook for my walk, get the groceries and come back to the house. I still need to buy more bird seed so I may take care of that while I'm out, too. Ilene is still with her kids for a couple of days, so I won't be seeing her til later in the week.

Have a great day!

Good afternoon all,

It's only 46 right now! Sunny, but cold. :brrr: When will this bi-polar weather get straightened out? :rollingpin1:

Chris @faerywings I know the doctors are frustrated with all the govt. controls they have to work under. I've actually had doctors tell me the same thing. They must hate all the red tape they have to wade through. They just want to treat their patients and often can't even give them the meds they need because of govt controls. It's not going to get any better any time soon either. They're under intense scrutiny and I wouldn't want to be a doctor these days.

Yes, those dogs finally left - then came back, but I had a "window of opportunity" to let them out. I guess animal control has been called on the Great Pyrenees because it has an inured foot. We know where he lives because the girls have taken him home a few times. He lives on a neighboring farm and the owners don't give a darn about him. He's over here quite often and always raises havoc when he's over here. The other dog belongs to one of the renters and he's been informed to keep her inside or on a rope, because the two of them are like wild dogs together. I haven't seen them today. That Great Pyrenees dug under the fence to get to Daisy when we first moved out here and lived in the temporary house. I could not believe he did that.

The upstairs redo sounds beautiful and I'm sure those colors really opened things up. That sawing drives me crazy too. Your poor head. But it will be over soon - just take your Advil.

I haven't heard of the kind of fish you mentioned. Did I tell you that I fixed mine in the air fryer? They were so good. Let me know how yours turn out.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm so sorry to hear about your son-in-law! I will definitely be keeping your family in my prayers. We'll all be anxious for any updates that you get. :praying2::praying2:

Vicky @vickyday good luck getting all of your pages ready to print. One of these days, when my life settles down, I have so many pages to get printed. I was way behind before and now I REALLY am.

I need to go get dressed and then fix myself a bite to eat. I'm thinking eggs and cheese. :giggle4:

XOXO

Around September or October Persnickety runs a special where you can get pages for half price in a variety of sizes. You can also order groups of 50 for future use. But I think you have to use all 50 at one time. I have no problem doing that and I don't think you would either. That's what I'm working on now.....deciding which pages I want to get printed!

I had to do a couple of errands... no rain but wind was blowing and icy. :brrr: :brrr: So glad I got them done today as it is suppose to rain tomorrow!

DD#2 talked to DD#3 late last evening. Son-in-law had an MRI then a CT scan... Yes - he did have a stroke. He was somewhat improved and able to talk better but still has some short term memory problems. She has not been able to talk to the doctor about what has happened and the prognosis. We hope to have an up-date this evening sometime.

Haha - you did that day. I love eggs with shredded cheese and have them for dinner once in awhile. I like them on English Muffins.

I used to use Persnickity Prints all the time. Their individual pages are gorgeous.I used to buy those "packages" like you're talking about.

I never heard of tilapia until we moved to Michigan. Not that there's any connection, but people eat a lot of seafood there. I thought at first that it was a Great Lake's fish. I LOVE it - it's so white and so clean. Nothing cajun goes into my stomach - it's way too sensitive. I made loaded baked potato soup last night from one of those packaged "soup starters" - big mistake - huge. Did I ever suffer. Here's an interesting article about tilapia: https://thehealthyfish.com/where-does-tilapia-come-from/

Sometimes spices bother me and sometimes they don't. It's weird!
Very interesting information on the fish, too! My KJV doesn't actually say, "tilapia" when Jesus fed the 5,000, but it sounds very plausible to me! Why not?!

@faerywings Hey Chris - looks like you are dealing with some of the same things that I am! We are having flooring installed in our complete downstairs and it's loud, and crazy, and I'm stuck upstairs with a kid and 2 dogs that bark at every single noise they hear. They will hopefully be done today and then starts the cleaning of every single surface in the house from grinding down the cement and glue from the old flooring. I forgot to cover the food in the pantry. UGH I have to wipe down EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

Don't even get me started with health care. I don't want to turn into a cussing monster after all the hell I've been going through to get coverage and the things I need... :furious::shakingsense::banghead::rantonoff:

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl - I hear ya! We have a German Shepherd next door that barks all day long. The owners are sweethearts and really can't help it. They work nights and she's alone all day. At least they don't leave her outside!

I realize I haven't updated you gals on my progress: In 2 months I have lost 32 lbs, went from 6.4 A1C to 6.0 (usually goes 1 point every 3-5 months my doc said - so in two months it was really good) and my BMI went down 4 points. Each point is SIGNIFICANT in health! I also have been going to the gym for a 30 minute class 3x a week and I can feel me getting a little stronger and a little smaller in the tummy. I'm still doing pretty good with food, but I am starting to want "Different" food, so I have to change things up a bit.

My brother is still dealing with a huge build up of mucus in his throat at the cancer radiation site. He still cannot swallow and is on a g-tube. He had an endoscopy to find the source of the mucus and they found a massive infection in the site. They put him on antibiotics through his feeding tube and he is seeing dome results. Still a lot of mucus but a lot less. Apparently the radiation continues to work months after he finishes, so he's still dealing with that. Apparently the cancer site is full of dead cells and mucus so until they clean that out and cure the infection, they won't know if all the cancer is gone.

Meli's job at Albertsons is going well. All her co workers love her and tell me when I go into the store. All but one manager who seems to have it in for her. she's always on her case and Meli is nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs when she's around. She has 4 managers and each one trained her differently, so whenever this manager catches her doing something different than SHE taught her, she clamps down on her.

I am changing my lifestyle to lose weight and to reduce my blood sugar. I was 1 point away from diabetes. That scared the CRAP out of me. ! That's why it's so confusing sometimes. I am following the point system in the Weight Watchers App, but I also need to watch my carbs - so some of their choices don't work. More than anything I am eating more balanced meals and more regularly. I used to starve all day and then wind up bingeing at night. I also drank gallons of soda. I really thought I'd lose MORE because I gave up soda Jan 1st. I don't even miss it. Much. LOL I think about having one but I have to think of it like a drug. I know if I start drinking it again I will fall right back into gorging on it.

ETA That I am also doing a lot of cooking at home now and looking at all the dining out foods we do and I am AGHAST at what things I THOUGHT were good and turn out totally bad! We love going to TOGO's - a local sandwich shop. Their bread alone for a small size is about 50 carbs!! Getting the mini is still in the 30's - and that's even the wheat choice. I used to get a large every Saturday! Sodas, condiments, processed foods - all have so much carbs!! I'm slowly reading labels and finding the condiments with no or low sugar, no HFCS ever, and that's helped too. I have go to's that I KNOW are fine to use.

Well, keep up the good work!
