Happy Monday, lOvlies!
Did you all survive the changing of the clocks this weekend? We did with one exception. Gary forgot to change the clock on the coffee maker. When I got up this morning, the pot was full and Caitlyn should have gotten her's and Tom's at that point. I texted her to make sure that she was awake and getting ready for work. She had grabbed a Keurig instead. She is such a good DD, she changed the clock and made sure it was set to brew so it was ready for the rest of us. She knows how I *must* have my coffee ASAP if the world wants to be safe.
:coffee1:

So what did I do yesterday? The same as every day this past week. :banghead: I told Gary I am not gonna make it. Not with any sense of sanity. Nope, nope, nope. This is also a Tindamax week so I am getting hit from all sides.
The weather is finally going to be warmer today, we might even get close to 60*. I'm thinking that I might ask Gary to set up a chair on the patio and help me down the front steps. I'd love to get some fresh air and sunshine. Not that my patio gets that much sunshine and it is kind of a mess with the snowblower and shovels out there. Anyone want to take a bet on how long I actually *sit* without trying to clean the patio?

I am going to see if I can find some chair yoga videos on YouTube this morning. I know the channel I follow has at least one desk yoga video but I'd like to find a variety. I'll do some filing and shredding of papers. What else can I do? I am open to suggestions!

(I am sooo very sorry, I have been complaining nonstop. Feel free to :whip3:)

I'll :censored: now.

HAGD and love and hugs to you all!

@AK_Tracy I wish that the time change didn't affect you like that. The weather must be giving you whiplash but what a lovely time it was being on the porch in a tank top over the weekend.

@BrightEyes I saw your post about your son-in-law and I am hoping that he is doing better today. Sending you hugs and all the good thoughts I have for his good health ♥♥♥

@Terri M I am in the LOVE DST column too- I am tired no matter what the sky looks like when I wake up and my brain clicks off as soon as it gets dark- again no matter what time it is. If I am not in PJs at 4.30 pm in December then I am wishing I was. LOL
I would love to meet you for a sandwich and a bottle of wine watching the sunset :)
Congrats on Alumni Night and winning the game. I am assuming this was a basketball game? My nephew is a Duke basketball fan. (And that is all I know about the team and sport. LOL)
That must be so satisfying working on the trails and bridges, knowing that so many people will benefit from them.
I am positive that your company did not fall asleep before the creme brulee, even I could stay awake long enough for that. Yum!
Can you share your recipe?

@vickyday It sounds like you had a busy and successful Sunday!
TY for liking my challenge LO!
Hey! Maybe he will start going for you! ;)
I'd like that but probably not. On the way home, we drove over a screw and now we need a new tire. And of course, we were driving Caitlyn's car. I think the irony of going to the FP to help with the grocery bills and then needing a new tire broke his brain :rotfl:
Sometimes we just can't win, but it could be worse.

What is the time frame the doctor is giving you before you will be back in the swing of things? :hug4:

Yes, things could always be worse! :hug4:

Good morning,
Quick in and out.
I got my ATC done for the day. Need to check my challenge thread and comment. Need to make a call to the SS office to set up an appointment to talk about switching over to my own SS instead of remaining on deceased hubby's amount. Not sure if it was the smart thing to do, but I decided to wait until I was 70 to switch over as the amount will be much greater. I guess there are pros and cons to that scenario. It is what it is since this is the year for the BIG one! I can't wrap my head around being 70 this year! Where have the years gone!
Anyway, I also need to make an appointment with the bank to get the check-signing stuff taken care of so Ruth can be my backup.
Tomorrow is the widows' fellowship so I may not be on here until late in the day.
Still don't have the car back so I'm having to rely on Ruth's car to pick up the widows I take with me to the meetings.
Have a great day!

Last night's dinner turned out lovely, and no one fell asleep.
@faerywings Creme brulee is my favorite dessert so David gave me a torch for my birthday a couple years ago so I can make it at home. I use this recipe from the NY Times and it is super easy. It's a dessert that is easy and convenient to make -- you can do it the day before you need it -- and then is impressive when you drag out the little torch, although you can also finish it under the broiler they say. I've never tried that.

Just made our appointments for covid vaccines. It's been six months since the last one, and we'll be doing some traveling over the next couple months, so it seemed like the right time.

On the way home, we drove over a screw and now we need a new tire.
I have twice needed new tires for this on my car that's only 18 months old. The first time, I had a total of 30 miles on the car! Yep, I had to take it back to the dealer the day after I bought it because the tire pressure light was on, and it was a nail. The other time was when we were on our trip to Florida this winter. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? Why are there nails on the road?

It looks like a great week shaping up weather-wise. I've already made plans for biking today and tomorrow. David is out doing yardwork, which he loves. Our daffodils and crocuses are blooming and the tulips and Virginia bluebells are poking up out of the ground. I was hoping to get to DC for cherry blossoms but I think I'll be in Florida for their big week. But the peach orchards will be in flower in the next week or two here so that's its own version of lovely.

Good morning!

Did you all survive the changing of the clocks this weekend?
I don't think so. I thought we only jumped an hour ahead but then I get here and see I lost a whole day! :floorlaugh: Its only the 10th today. :heartpumppink:
I told Gary I am not gonna make it. Not with any sense of sanity.
Nope, but did you have a sense of sanity when you started? I say sanity is overrated anyway. Crazy at times can be more fun.
Anyone want to take a bet on how long I actually *sit* without trying to clean the patio?
2 seconds after you sit down!!!!
Need to make a call to the SS office to set up an appointment
Oh that sounds terrible. SS is always (sarcasm) fun times. I also think you might have mistyped your post. No way youre going to be 70! That's crazy.
although you can also finish it under the broiler they say. I've never tried that.
Its not as fun under broiler and you dont get the same control. It works if you dont have a torch but the torch is way more fun!! Something so satisfying when you light the torc and it go woomph.

Well, fingers crossed I get to be done with my car sun roof today. Took it to the dealer and dropped it off yesterday. We shall see if they finally have all the parts and finally I can have the crash tape taken off the roof. Its only been 6 months. Fingers crossed. Hoping they have it done today too as the truck is harder to get into at the moment. Silly me, being spring break, packed in all the appointments like eyes, teeth, etc since the kid wouldn't be in college classes. Didn't put two and two together that MAYBE I wouldn't be up to running crazy yet. Silly Wonder Woman thought she could do it all and not have aches. :floorlaugh: Oh well, at least most of it involved sitting.

Off to get more coffee. Have a wonderful day!

Good Monday morning everyone! I had another busy weekend with my Gary as we both puttered around and did odd jobs around the house and the yard. The time just flies!! We worked outside in between rain storms and today it is sunshine and fresh snow on the far mountain tops. The roofs around the neighbourhood were all frosty this morning. It will take me a day or two to adjust to the time change, but it will be nice to have the light in the evenings! The countdown is on for my Gary's retirement, only 15 more working days for him, well that is if he doesn't take any flex days off. That means only 15 more lunches for me to have to make and pack for him dance4:dancing6: I will be so happy to not have any more lunches to make!!! We have booked a getaway for the two of us to a beautiful spa in Brentwood Bay and we are getting a gorgeous suite with an ocean view and personal hot tub on the deck a treat for my Birthday in April and his retirement. Hopefully it will be the start of many more getaways for the two of us!! Heather is calling so I gotta run, looking forward to hearing about her weekend. I will pop back in, in a bit.

Trudy this sounds AMAZING!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!!! So excited for you guys. I hope retirement allows you many more fabulous get aways! The personal hotttub sounds amazing too. 15 lunches and counting :yesss:

Yes, the years don't lie.....born Oct. 8, 1955! But thank you for your sweet comment!

Good morning! Quick story about my husband's morning then I might be back later. He applied to a Lead Customer Service position with the State of Missouri, pay is $42000/year. Not bad for the position but wasn't perfect either. So he gets a call for an interview last week. Walks in to the interview this morning to find out he's actually interviewing for a difference position that's $5000/year MORE! The interviewer said she saw his app and thought his skills would be perfect for this other position that isn't even advertised to the public. Now he just has to talk to the investigator that is the supervisor for the position. Can't even make this stuff up! Have a great day!

Morning, all. DD#2 called last evening and we talked for over an hour. Her hubby is still in ICU and condition is stable at this point. I was glad to talk to her and hear how she was doing. And DD#1 called this morning. Staying home as I need to be near my landline phone... Thanks for keeping my family in your prayers.

Sending you all my love and best wishes for your entire family Kay, such a stressful time for all of you!!:hug1:

What a great idea! I was doing wall pilates for quite awhile but then had to pay too much for the app, it included some chair yoga also, but I never thought of looking at you tube! Hope you find something fun to do while you are still off of your feet!
Anyway, I also need to make an appointment with the bank to get the check-signing stuff taken care of so Ruth can be my backup.

Sounds like a lot of appointments are being made and wow I can't believe that you still are having problems with your car!!

How fun to get out biking! I am assuming that you have e-bikes? It is something that I am trying to convince my DH to get, we have so many great places to bike and so many wineries that we could bike to, hopefully he will see the light once he is retired!

I sure hope that you will finally get your car done today and no more crash tape on your sunroof!! Yes perhaps spring break was not the perfect time to get all the appointments done. Thanks for the nice comment about our getaway! I am looking for some spa treatments to do while we are there. DH is not crazy about getting massages, so I am sure he will be spending a lot of time in the hot tub.
The interviewer said she saw his app and thought his skills would be perfect for this other position that isn't even advertised to the public
What great news for your DH!! How wonderful is that to be offered the job!!

Ok I need some brunch and perhaps another coffee, hope to open up photoshop today and at least get a new siggie done. :waving3:

The clocks changed and there was a change in weather and my body knew it right away. My dog was even acting weird Sun in the late afternoon. She layed down in the dark hallway for the longest time. But, it could be my dog. She is a bit on the strange side anyway. so that was probably it! I also wonder if she is reacting to loosing her companion dog of 10 years. We just lost him 2 months ago (still stings) and although she appears to have adjusted well, she probably gets sad too.

Went to my dermatologist and she said my lips have precancerous spots on them. I thought it was old age!! I have a chemo creme to put on. Went home and told my 2 daughters to please use a good sunscreen on chapstick, etc.

@BrightEyes keeping you and your family in prayers.
@deej good luck to your husband!
@taxed4ever yay to retirement and the spa!
@vickyday good luck with SS. I tried to log on over the weekend and it kicked me out and told me to come back 24 hours later. Well it was 1 am and the online SS web site is closed. The onling SS site has limited hours??!! It didn't take my password, so I decided to try 1 of the 3 log ons they have. uploaded my DL and it said it wasn't me (who was it then?) I did read that the site is a bit wonky since some features have been disabled.

born Oct. 8
We're almost birthday buddies. I'm Oct 5, just a different year ;)
The interviewer said she saw his app and thought his skills would be perfect for this other position that isn't even advertised to the public.
This is wonderful!!!! How awesome to be sought out. Hope he gets the job!
Her hubby is still in ICU and condition is stable at this point.
Oh Kay, I cant imagine. Prayers for DDhubby. Glad he's at least stable for the moment. :heartpumppink:

Wow it's monday. I was planning to check in over the weekend but that was an epic fail. I did more cleaning and arranging in the trailer we leave on our 4 month camping trip in 2 months but I already know it will be here before I know it. I will be ready!!!!
I did yard work like pruning and transplanting the chatting with the neighbors.
To all you bird people: I heard a different bird call from my magnolia tree yesterday and come to find out it was a peregrine falcon that was so exciting. I put out the hummingbird feeders but not takers yet. I have been seeing brown thrashers so that is very exciting. The usual birds were here but Pretty Boy Floyd was posing for me so I got some nice pics of the blue heron. I had to get more giant milkweed leaves from my friend as I found 8 more caterpillars on my milkweed plants I saw one late yesterday but it's missing today so probably bird food.
Laundry is done from our camping trip now just to change the sheets on the camper bed. Jay finally made his mind up about the batteries so we will be getting those in the next few days so once they are installed it can go back to storage and we will have our driveway back.
I talked to our son yesterday I've been talking to DIL but it nice to here Mikes voice. Both of the oldest grandchildren called which is always a treat.
This morning I was up at 4 tossing and turning so decided to just get up at 5 so I started with more reservations for our trip North this summer...I finished! 10 reservations and arriving in CT on June 16th last day of school for youngest grandson..he will get off the bus and we will parked in the yard. Then we will take him camping on our way up to their camp/cabin in NY for 4th of July. Lots of family friend time on this trip. Our route is attached if you are on the route and want to meet up contact me.

Ok on to my O-friends.

@faerywings now you can kick ass with the short boot!!! I hope the healing is going well. Oh no, a screw in the tire..that is too bad. I once had a push pin in the side of my tire and had to get a new tire too

@vickyday 70's not so bad there are alott of people who never get the privilege. Seems like your mechanic has had your car more that you.

@AK_Tracy You never slow down do you. I hope you are following Dr. orders to take it a little easy. Good luck with the sun roof.

@taxed4ever How wonderful that hubby is retiring and that you have plans...way to many people retired with no hobby so are bored. Enjoy your time away.

@deej congrats to hubby that is awesome.

@BrightEyes thinking of your SIL sending get well wishes to him...what a horrible situation. Please keep us posted.

Have a great day.

Sounds wonderful!!! No more lunch-making....spa....getaway with an ocean view.....you can keep the hot tub, however! Not a fan! My body doesn't like the heat!

I have been seeing brown thrashers so that is very exciting. The usual birds were here but Pretty Boy Floyd was posing for me so I got some nice pics of the blue heron.
WOW to the falcon! We have plenty of hawks, but have never seen a falcon!
Too early for me to even try the hummingbird feeders.
We have a couple of brown thrashers that hang around under the feeders!
I love herons!
70's not so bad there are alott of people who never get the privilege.
AMEN! So far, all of the changing years have never made me feel any older, really!
Seems like your mechanic has had your car more that you.
That is the truth!
Our route is attached if you are on the route and want to meet up contact me.
I see 2 places you are stopping in NC but can't tell where. We are in Winston-Salem.

How fun!!!! This sounds like a wonderful trip! Wish I was on the route youre taking.
@AK_Tracy You never slow down do you. I hope you are following Dr. orders to take it a little easy.
I am being very good and spending most of my time on the couch. I can feel the difference each day so I take my cue from my body. But I am sitting. A lot. I have pancake butt from sitting so much LOL I have one appointment each day this week but it will also be mostly sitting. Sit in car. Sit in dental chair. Sit in car LOL
Quite a few years difference, I'm thinking! ;)
Less than 20. But maybe just a year spiritually and mentally.

Good morning ladies. I've been busy (of course lol). We were at an all day cribbage tournie on Sunday and then yesterday I spent time with the dogs, did laundry and worked on jewelry. I ended up making a few different bracelets and now can't decide which ones to submit for the store application. I was tired yesterday (time change hangover) and didn't get as much done as I was planning so am going to work on getting a necklace done this morning before I head off to the club for euchre this afternoon.

Our telus cable is acting up again. The PVR hasn't worked since yesterday at dinnertime. I'm going to unplug it again one more time and then will have to call in which I hate b/c it means being on hold for an hour or two, then back and forth up and down the stairs, checking modems and trying different things with them on the phone. It usually takes about 3-4 hours and we go thru this every month or two. Usually the glitches only last 2-10 min or so but then it goes out indefinitely...ugh. I sure hope we can switch to Shaw this summer when our contract is up and it works better.

Our sidewalks are clear but we had a few inches of snow on the weekend so everything looks pretty. I am anxious for spring though. I want warmer weather and no more snow.

I'd better get on with my day, I need to call telus.
