hello and a wonderful day to you!

How was your weekend? Mine was so much fun. Halloween Night was just hysterical! Cait and I spent much of the day in the kitchen prepping the food. In between, I went into the attic to grab a few decorations. We keep a few spooky items in the house on an everyday basis so I didn't need too much. Gary also brought down a skeleton and propped her up on an extra chair.
Scott and Gary asked what they could do to help so we told them to set up the candy bracket on the whiteboard. 16 random candies and brackets. How hard could that be? O.M.G. Apparently *very* difficult. They needed to get something to make the lines straight. Then they didn't like the way they connected the lines to the brackets. Erase and start over. Cait and I were laughing our butts off. "We gave them *one* thing to do."

The food we made was pumpkin-shaped cheese balls, mummy jalapeno poppers, a spider pretzel, eye-ball deviled eggs, and dessert was the bat truffles and graveyard cheesecake dip.
We spent so much time debating the candy on the bracket but Reese's cups were the ultimate winner - not a surprise for us, we love them. We also trick or treated. We each wrapped up random items in newspaper. Caitlyn came up with the idea to go into a room and close the door and then the others would take turns knocking and picking out a treat. The dogs were sooooo confused! They barked at us knocking on random doors but then got *very* excited for the "wrapping paper."
Some of the treats were dice, a flipbook, a bobble-head. The funniest was one of those "snakes in a can." Most appropriate for the times were hand sanitizer and a roll of toilet paper.

This had to be the best theme night so far. Also not surprising!

Today is another pretty day but aside from a phone appt with my foot Dr. I don't have anything specific to do.

Hugs!

Nancy- I like the temps a bit warmer but wow, the sky has been so blue! Your dinner with your son and his MG sounds like it was a really good time. It is sad and worrying when people aren't wearing masks. My friend across the street asked this morning if I wanted to go for a walk and I am going to wear mine.
My dogs are so bizarre, J walks incredibly well off of my street, like when we used to take her to the state park. She gets scared when she hears another dog barking.
Is your DH's university planning on mostly on-campus classes in the fall?

Trudy- sorry that your weather has been so grey. But at least you are getting lots of stuff done in the house. I need to get working in the kitchen. We cleaned as we cooked but after dinner, things piled up. When is Isaac's actual b-day? I hope that his card gets to him soon, you did such an awesome job on it. Time really flies, doesn't it?
The steamer I got was inexpensive b/c I ended up getting a small one. My kitchen is so tiny that I had to make sure I had space in one of the cabinets for it.
Good luck with moving the trees and bushes. I end up digging the holes with trowels. It is easier on my back, and since we have so many rocks (rock to dirt ratio is 5:6 hahaha!), I can pry them out. I hope that your Gary was able to do that for you and nothing too many rocks.

Jean- This weather is perfect for you! Woo hoo, awesome news about the car AC! Even better is the warranty! ha! I can't imagine having 45 people at a Zoom meeting. My head would swim but it must make for good conversation. I don't get why people are so resistant to wearing masks. I just don't. SMH. I mean no one *likes* wearing them, but sheesh it is not that big of a deal.
I have no idea what Scott wrote about--he was looking for fossil evidence in that area and he didn't find any. It is probably a BS paper as a formality so they can get credit for finishing the class. He said that digging in the sand really exfoliated his hands though LOL
The halter is like a horse's halter where it goes around the muzzle and clips behind her head. I think cuz her snout is so short and blocky it isn't as hard to escape- she has done it before. Sheis such a ridiculous dog.

Speaking of dogs, mine need to go outside.
xoxoxo!

good morning - what a great morning our Supreme Courts ruled 6-3 that Gay and LGBTQ cannot be discriminated against in the work place. What a shock to the conservatives. My DH and I got out early and walked Luther. It was a nice walk. Saw lots of cat birds. Everything is so green. Water levels are shrinking in the river and should not get any rain until weekend. Not much going on today. I watched the new Disney+ show Artimis Fowl. It was really cute. And let lots of room for sequels.

Chris so glad that your Halloween night was such a success but not surprised LOL! The food sounds so fun! I too think that Reese's are the top candy. My DH says his school wants to have students back but it is working out the logistics of spacing and cleaning especially with labs. So they are all taking certification for teaching online if necessary. I know my DH would like to teach class in person. And yes I need it to be warmer in the day with still cool nights. Do I ask for too much?

Trudy wow going from one project to the next - I guess now is the time to get the projects done. Good luck and have fun moving plants.

Jean yes I cannot believe how baseball owners and players cannot reach a way to play. I thought they would be the first back as the bases are over 6 ft apart and you can do balls and strikes electronically. I realize lots of testing would have to be done but I did not think it would come down to money. Yes I read all the Nevada Barr books. That is why I went to some of the parks that I had never heard of because of her books.

Waving to Kay and Felis.

Morning ladies... it is a very rainy morning here. :rain: Everyone out this way is calling it Juneuary as the temps are cool and we haven't seen the sunshine for a long time LOL. Today I have to search on line for a gift for our Little Man Hunter. His Birthday is July 9th and he will be 3 years old already. It takes so long to get things sent out to Ontario that I need to get this done soon. I also have to finish up my layout with the kitchen pictures. I want to get a card started for FIL for Father's Day too, so I have lots to keep myself busy on this very rainy day!

Chris - I am also not surprised that you had such a fun time with your Halloween themed night. The food and trick or treating sounds so great! Isaac's birthday is tomorrow so I sure hope that his card has arrived. Yes it was great that my Gary did all the digging while we moved the bushes to their new places. I have been trying to convince my Gary to plant some raspberry bushes along the sunny, very warm side of the house and last night the neighbour offered us a few plants that she got too many of. We will see what happens I guess. He is not too keen on making me a raised box to put those in. Poor guy I am always getting more projects for him LOL. Your rock to dirt ratio sounds about the same as ours LOL. I hope your appt with the dr. goes well and that you have a lovely day!

Nancy - Glad to hear the news about the Supreme Court ruling! So nice to hear that you and Luther are enjoying your beautiful walks! Yes one project after another, we keep busy that is for sure! I am not one that can sit around and do nothing for too long, so my mind is always thinking about what could be done next. I am sure I drive my DH crazy sometimes, but he is the same and always looking for something to do. I guess we are a good match LOL.

Jean - So happy that your weather is not stinkin hot!! What good news about the AC in your car too! That was a lot of people for your Zoom meeting! My DH has pretty large zoom meetings too, he is shop steward for their union and they have very long and large meetings once a month. He has to do it on my computer because his does not have a camera. I think maybe it might be time to start looking at getting a new one if this continues on much longer LOL. His computer is ancient, but still works well for him. Hope that people get better with the wearing of masks in your area. I don't like wearing them either, but if we want to obey by the rules, we have to start wearing them more often!

Ok I have been face timing with the kids so this is getting posted late as usual. Need to get into the shower and get going with my day. :washing: to finish and floors to clean because they did not get done yesterday. I hope you all have a great Monday! Like Dr. Bonnie Henry says... be kind, be calm and be safe!!

A strange day. DH took the car in first thing coming home in their courtesy van. Then he hosted H&S while I did weekly bills, etc. Soon after the Zoom session they called, not to say the car was ready, but to tell DH when they got things apart found it needed another part they don't have! Wanted to keep the car till they get the part. Leaving us with no car. We had planned our grocery shopping for today which we've been doing every two weeks and the cupboards were really getting bare. Well, DH changed his periodontal appt for tomorrow to August and we pared down the grocery list to what we could carry as we do live within walking distance of the store. That seems to have worked, but now we'll have to go back when we get the car again.

In contrast I got the best email! The author of a wonderful genealogical mystery series, Nathan Dylan Goodwin, has written a short story in the series and put it online for anyone to read free - but, it lets the reader choose the next steps at various points that can lead to different endings. It is delightful and I got three different endings on my three tries (getting to the final end on the third try.) His stories always include an historical period as well as the present and this one is set in the current lockdown in England with research around the Spanish flu pandemic. I don't know if it would be as much fun if you hadn't read the series and so "know" the characters and enjoying genealogical research might help too (he even has links to some real online genealogy sites in the story.)

Chris the Halloween night was so right for you all and boy does it seem it worked out perfectly. But the guys and the chart? Oh well, they meant well. Scott looking for fossil evidence where it isn't? Curious. At least he went somewhere nice. Hope the Dr. appt. was of some use. My telephone one didn't happen as she was ill that day. How can someone feel your foot and flex your ankle and so on by phone? Hope all is well there and you got more outside time.

Nancy, catbirds are fun birds, so glad you encountered some. Here too it is green, but doesn't sound so good that it is drying up. Anyway, amazing that the Supreme Court that we have now actually came through. Something to be happy for today. I might have come to Nevada Barr the opposite way as the first one I read was set at the Carlsbad Caverns, an area of interest to me as my parents retired to Carlsbad. I'm trying to think of other mystery writers that might appeal. Well, not set in parks, but in a fictional part of SW New Mexico is the Posada County series by Steven F. Havill. They begin with an older male main character but develop a young female from Mexico as a sheriff's dept. detective then undersheriff and in the latest book she's aged to being a grandmother. The old guy is now in his 80s and using a walker. One thing I loved in the old guy (a widower with grown kids moved away, so living alone and an insomniac) is that he would sometimes drive out at night with the windows open and just breath in the air and listen to the quiet.

Trudy, don't forget your projects can be a different kind of painting. I'm not doing much in that regard so can't say much. Bad enough one grand is turning 12, but how can Hunter be turning 3? I mean, didn't you just spend the summer out there when he was born? Getting a new computer for your MG and his Zoom sounds good. My DH is also using mine for Zoom for the same reasons.

I've certainly nattered on tonight!
Hi to Kay and Felis.
Wishing you all a good day.
