And we are back to Monday! Do any of you have a good Monday Motivation idea? (aside from coffee!)
How was your weekend? I had a very productive day out in the yard. I spent a lot longer out there than I was planning and my one shoulder got red. It wasn't hot and I was in and out of shade so I was quite surprised when I saw it that way after my shower. I love when you can see a big difference in how the yard looks after a good weeding/raking. I ended up being out there for almost 4 hours.

Hmm- there is a new bird outside that I am hearing... Not one that I usually hear. I don't think it is a crow, it sounds deeper than that. But definitely a "haw haw haw haw" call. Over and over, I might add.

Speaking of birds, I was trying so hard to get photos of these pretty little birds that were hanging out at the Sanctuary but they were zipping around really quickly. They were small, the size of my palm, yellow belly, and had a V-shaped tail. Are they sparrows? Swallows? If it isn't a robin or a blue jay, I really have no clue about birds.

Today I have to work inside- food shopping prep as well as general cleaning and laundry and vacuuming. I started a page for the Template Challenge yesterday and would love to catch up on some scrapping today too.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned.

Jean- Did the rain hold off for you? I guess it is normal to be less energetic after a very busy day. My mom always shows me the blue depression glass if we are near a flea market/antique shop. That is what she remembers as a kid. I am not sure if she has any packed away. She prefers dainty dishes as opposed to sturdy.
I posted one photo in Madi's Snapshot thread but will be scrapping some of the others that I took. If Caitlyn can get me hers, I will scrap a few of them too. She got a couple of really great ones that I didn't.

Trudy- Your weekend sounds very busy- how sweet of you to stock up on your jelly for when the kids come home. Congrats on the sale of the painting for your neighbor!! That is fab news and even better that your Gary is able to keep making the panels for you. Teamwork

Nancy- that sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day and I hope that you didn't get red like I did. Good for you for using sunblock. I am much more vigilant with bug-spray than I am with my sunscreen.
We watched Episode Three of the new season on The Handmaid's Tale and it makes me so angry. I joked with Gary if he thought I would have lasted a day in Gilead.
Hoping that the hockey game was good!
Pfft. NJ Traffic/mass transit. I don't know how you deal with that on a nightly basis. When Gary was working (he worked in Moonachie, right near the Teterboro airport),it was a nightmare, but at least once he got into our town he could call me and I would be able to estimate him being home within a half-hour. But the trip from work to that point could take anywhere from a half-hour to an hour or more. I don't envy you trying to plan around it all.

Kay- That is probably my only complaint about summer weather-- A/C! LOL I am always freezing in stores so I have to bring a hoodie with me wherever I go. Good for you for getting all of the work done on your LO before heading to church.
That is a smart idea to make a big batch of Sloppy Joes for both events.
How is your back feeling today? Be careful walking/lifting! And 5 back surgeries... yuck!!
Your Aunt painted those dishes??? That is so fantastic and must be partly where you got your artistic talent, too!

Felis- I am going to be using the :washing: smilie today. Congrats on a new washing machine. If they could only make a set that folds the laundry when it is done. haha!
I know that feeling too, I hate when I have to rely on the "strong men" to do things that I wish I could do on my own. But sometimes I have to let that attitude go and appreciate the muscles of men. I wish you could come to my house and I would take you to the Sanctuary to see the animals. The owner, Mike, goes all over the USA to rescue them. Caitlyn wants to have an animal rescue farm someday too. Maybe you will get your goats and ponies someday.
Oh, how cute-- I had to go back and read what I wrote and I meant "waking up to a pretty day" but it came out all wrong LOL But it works either way.

I better get this posted. xoxo

good morning - It is raining but luckily my DH got Luther out for a walk early before it started. I will be inside all day. I read my post yesterday and laughed I made tilapia lol. It was delish. Again no leftovers so that makes me happy! Watched hockey and I get a game 7. I really feel that Boston will win game 7 after the way Tuuka played. He was awesome.

Chris glad you had such a good time in the yard. It really was a great weekend weather wise. It bet your yard looks so good. I do not know off the top of my head what the bird is sorry. Enjoy your inside today. Have fun scrapping!

Trudy I heard you yelling! Congrats to Boston for getting it to a game 7. I just hate having to wait until Wednesday.

Kay I love sloppy joes. I will have to put that on my list of things to make this week. I have not had them in ages. Good idea to make double batch for your two lunches. Wow 5 back surgeries. I should never complain about my knee.

Jean saw that the Indians made a real game out of the Sunday baseball game against the Yankees. The Yankee announcers keep saying that your bullpen is better than your starters so the Yankees needed to score early which they did but obviously the Yankees need better bull pen. LOL hope you don't have much rain.

Felis the next artist on Songland is Kelsea Ballerini. She is a country artist. I love country music and so this should be a great show. Wow lift a washing machine I could never do it. But congrats on getting the new one!

Have a great day all!

Just a quick in and out this AM... have an on-line class staring in just a few minutes. Been crazy busy yesterday [working with a designer on a new action] plus other scrapping chores. Busy but I love feeling so creative.

Chris, I saw the photo of your yard....WOW... it looks so great. Didn't realize the woods were so close to your house. You definitely have a green thumb. Sorry about your sunburn - but it doesn't sound like it was a bad one. I have to lather on the sunscreen and wear long sleeve, hat, etc as I burn even in the shade.

The back is getting better so think I can take a chance and sweep the kitchen floor but no running the vacuum as that would set it off again. Got the meat thawing so I can get the sloppy Joe's made this afternoon.

Gotta run... CYL

Happy Monday everyone! It is a very cloudy grey looking day out there today and there seems to be a smokey haze hanging over the mountains this morning. Not sure if that is from forest fires or what? We are happy in this household with the win we had last night! Now the Bruins just need to get this last win!! Today will be a nothing to do day, resting up from the busy weekend LOL. I hope to do a bit of painting and some scrapping and gallery commenting as I have been very absent from here lately! I suppose that is a somewhat good thing, it means that I am busy with lots of other things and enjoying the outdoors a bit more than in the cooler months. Oh we just had a nice little rain and it seems to have cleared off the smokey haze that has been hanging around. Yesterday I spent a long time watering all my plants outside, it is so very dry and my poor perennials are dying of thirst!!

Chris - Wow you spent a lot of time outside yesterday too! I hope that your little sunburn is not bothering you! I am bad for not using sunscreen and more diligent about putting on deet too! Darn little critters seem to really love you! They say that some people are more prone to getting ticks than others. I seem to be one of the luckier ones and have not had a tick on me for years! (knock on wood!!) I am wondering if the bird you are hearing is a crow, they can make up to 20 different calls and some sound very deep! Hope your day inside goes well and you get all your shopping prep etc done!

Nancy - Wasn't it a great game last night!! Tuuka is on top of his game for sure and lets hope it remains that way for the next one! Most people around here are hoping for the Blues to win, only because they have not won the cup before, not because they are fans LOL. Yes it will be hard to wait until Wednesday, poor DH's nerves are bad LOL. Hope you and Luther are enjoying a nice relaxing day today!

Kay - How nice that you are feeling so creative! I hope you are having fun with the designer and the new action!! Now I am curious!! You will have to let us know how it goes. Glad that your back is feeling a bit better, but good for you for knowing what you are capable of doing so it doesn't flare up again! Enjoy your online class!

Felis - How great to have a new washing machine!! Nice that you get to keep the old one for your Cat House. Too bad that your father could not find anyone to give him a hand with the heavy machine! Yes a Dolly (heavy machine mover) would be an excellent thing to purchase! We have borrowed DH's dad's many times and it sure is handy! I agree with Chris they should make machines that do the folding too LOL.

 Jean!! I hope you are enjoying a warm sunny day today!

Off to the shower and then I have some paint mixing to do. I want to get started on the neighbours painting. She says she wants ocean colours with some earthy tones too. Hope I can find the right colour combo! Have a great day everyone!

We got more rain after noon and it cooled off. But the excitement (?) came at 10:50 am, local time, when there was a 4.4 earthquake nearby. DH was at H&S and they didn't know, but I was on the 2nd floor of our house and felt and heard the house shake a bit. I did guess what had happened and a little later looked on the newspaper's website where they had it written up. I still got the bills done and in the evening finished the pages of my little altered book. Now I just have to decide how to finish the spine and it will be done. Tomorrow finally getting my teeth cleaned (had an appt. in Feb. while in the hospital and didn't reschedule until now.)

Chris, your birds at the sanctuary might be Barn Swallows. Good site here: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Barn_Swallow/id. Or here's a photo:

The bird call does sound like a crow, but I'd have to think about Raven if any are in your area. Hope your sunburn is slight and you enjoy the yard more now.

Nancy, that was quite a turn around in the hockey game. Well, we'll enjoy one more. I'll empathize with you when it's over as that's sort of how I feel at the end of the World Series when baseball ends for the season. So that's what you made for dinner. I didn't really think about it, but sort of wondered. ;)

Kay, glad your back got a little better. I don't even want to think about all those surgeries! Have fun the next two days with the lunches. I think your sketch technique looked fabulous.

Trudy, congrats on the neighbor's order for a painting. I think the colors named sound like some of my favorites so hope you have fun with it. Good luck with the nerves waiting for game 7 Wednesday.

Felis, that was too bad that Dad couldn't find help for moving the washer. When younger I could do a lot of things that I couldn't today, so getting older is another way to not be able to do heavy lifting and such (and for men as well as women). But great you now have a new washer and can keep the old for the cats. Interesting that you also don't have lots of energy when it's hot. I much prefer the slightly cool days.
