It is the "calm before the storm" and by that I mean the heat index for today. Another HHH day with heat advisories over 100* At this moment it isn't bad at all in here. I am going to bake the last batch of Christmas cookies for our Christmas in July (Tues and Wed) before it does get too hot.

I am so bummed that Gary is trying this gluten-free diet (worried for him too, but that is for another day). He won't be able to eat anything that we have planned for this theme. Olives. And some cheese with no crackers. But if he can get his stomach issues resolved on one way or another, it will be worth it.

I was very down all day yesterday aside from the two hours that I spent outside, digging weeds out that really could have simply been ignored. It was at least a change of scenery. I am not feeling much better today and unfortunately think it is going to be unsafe to work outdoors.
I have to finalize the food order and it is very challenging trying to find items that are gluten-free with not being able to read the labels. I have been googling brands but it has been difficult.

Wishing all of you a very wonderful day!

Kay- that is fantastic that your eyes are healing well. It is unfortunate that you had to go back into the store but at least you got the hand sanitizer to make it worthwhile. We still can't get that here.
Yucky news that the salons have had to close again. :(

Nancy- another HHH today! Was Luther willing to walk early this morning? Awesome that DS and MG brought dinner.

Jean- are you expecting the heat today today? I hope that you can stay cool and safe
Congrats on finding a record for your research!
That makes sense about the players liking the noise, esp if sounds accurate. I guess in my head I was thinking it was going to be more like a sitcom laugh-track which is more forced-sounding to me. Thx for explaining!

Morning ladies... it is going to be hot here today also! Yesterday was lovely as we headed out to the Lake and spent the day with MIL and FIL. Everyone went for a swim or two except for MIL, her back has terrible arthritis and she just could not put her body in the cool water  She has always loved to swim and grew up right there on that beach front property, so she practically lived in the water in the summer. Anyway it will be a day of sanding and hopefully getting the stain that we need to re-stain the front porch steps. It will have to be done when it is not quite so warm outside though. We are also looking into which day to do our Whale Watching tour and might choose to go out of Victoria instead of here at Cowichan Bay the boats are larger and they are covered and have washrooms, so it might be a wiser choice than the smaller vessels in Cow Bay. They are open and you have to wear a survival suit. Either way it should be great and now is the time to see the whales around here.

Chris - Have you maybe thought about starting Gary on a Keto diet? He would not have any grains or gluten and unfortunately most of the gluten free things are filled with sugar to make them taste better. Cutting out sugar would make his tummy feel so much better I am sure, but I guess you would have to see if his doctor would recommend it because of his diabetes. I have heard many, many great things about Keto helping diabetics! Just a thought and if he likes his meat, then he would love Keto!! I sure hope that the heat breaks for you all very soon! It's no fun being outside in that hot humid weather! Wish I could suggest something fun for you all to do during this heat wave, but I got nothing :noidea:

Kay - So happy to hear that your eyes are doing better and that you managed to pick up the things that you needed also! Sad that the hair salon had to close once more, but I really like the new Avatar!!

Nancy - You are so lucky to have your son and his MG bring you dinner! What a great couple they are! Stay out of that hot humid weather, I am sure Luther will be happy to sit in front of the AC all day!

Jean - Ugh I hope you will be ok with the heat wave! Is there somewhere other than your car that you could escape the heat for a bit? Awesome that you found some info in your research that was helpful! Have fun watching your baseball! So hard to wrap my head around the piped in fan noise! Yup my DH is going to keep me busy for the next couple of weeks :whip:

Felis - I too am so happy that you are having such a wonderful summer! I hope you continue to do so!

Ok I need another coffee and should get out to water my planters on the front porch before it gets too warm out there. Have a good Monday everyone, I hope you all don't melt in this warm, warm weather!

good day - yes it is another HHH day in NJ. Being in the AC and looking outside it does not even seem hot but I went on my walk and it is hot. I am still watching Longmire and my DH wanted to know if I should spread it out and its funny but I cant. I guess after I will get back to scrapping. I guess as Jean suggested I can should read the books. My DH has been working really hard and he cleaned up one of my son's rooms and now he can fix the ceiling. Not much else happening.

Chris glad you got your outdoor time. Have fun shopping I am sure your Christmas in July will be fun. I sure hope Gary's stomach feels better soon.

Trudy how fun to go whale watching. I loved it I got to do it on the Alaska cruise and once off Boston. I would go with the covered boat.

Jean how is baseball. I now hear the Marlins team has so many members testing positive they had to cancel today's game. I wonder how much longer the baseball can go on. All the hockey teams have flown to either Toronto and Edmonton so the first hockey games are tomorrow. I hope they have better safety precautions.

Felis hope your weather is great and you continue to have an awesome summer.

Hot and humid with a little thunder storm just now, but still OK. This morning was H&S and I did the bills and stuff. Then our alternate week grocery trip. I seem to have fallen into a rut with meals though and just get the same stuff, mostly. Still catching up from being "away" last week.

We talk about books we read and I have someone at the O to thank for a series I'm reading now. We had a challenge in the spring to scrap about someone we wanted to have dinner with and one was for mystery writer Louise Penny. I found in my records that I'd read the first one when it was nearly new, 2007?, but nothing since. Now I'm working my way through them and wondering how I missed out all along.

Chris, I don't suppose Gary has a doctor or dietician he can consult for advice, but that would be a help if he did. For your household GF sounds really tough as so many options in the meat realm are out. Wishing him better days!! Also to you and your computer.

Trudy, the whale watching sounds fabulous, but I'm with Nancy on preferring the covered boat. Hope you get better weather for it and also for outdoor work. If you go, don't forget a camera! It doesn't matter whether you get photos of whales, but of the boat and the view would be fun to scrap.

Nancy, the hockey plan does sound better. I just can't imagine what the baseball players and team staff, etc. must be going through wondering if they'll be safe. I didn't mean you needed to read the books, just that I agreed the stories were good. :D Watching must be a nice alternative to being out in the HHH weather.

Hope we all keep cool!

Hello girls!
Oh, I so love your comments, girls, thank you for the nice words, you're so sweet! I also keep my fingers crossed my summer to continue at the way it is! So many thoughts running through my head, and I'm not sure what would be interesting or helpful to share. I guess I should stop complaining how lonely I'm feeling, because then the Fate sending me only the wrong men! (But I am! “I’m a lonely chick, (super lonely)” LOL ). It hadn't happened to have 3 different invitation in the same month, after I'm turning 20th, so it's more than 10 years ago. Of course explanation is very simple and have nothing to do with me, just bars was closed and men was looking around for new opportunities. But still in some point it was uplifting for the self-esteem. One very smart thing that someone told me is that I want things for which I'm not ready to make a space in my life. He asked me am I ready to move from here, like my sister did when her boyfriend take a job in Germany. We both know that my answer is 'NO'. I'm so comfortable here, I build my dream too long to can so easily left it behind. He told me if I'm not ready to give the same effort as my sister , to not expect the same results as her. OK, I know he's right, but it helps so much to hear it from bystander. When you are into the situation it's so easily to lose the big picture, and to complaining.
So, yes, I'll just take a deep breath, gently release my back, and will sunbathing here for now. Until I figure out how to extend the present picture, so to invite the things which I want, but without to ruin what I already have!

Chris, ouch I totally understand your struggles! There was a time when I was vegetarian, and my sister vegan, so she was learned every brand and option in our store, so to can easy make combinations. (My dad still celebrate the day when I quit this philosophy). It's take a time to prepare new food regime, but it's become easier with the practice. Did you searched in youtube channels for ideas? It have FB group called Gluten Free in New Jersey, I think it's more for restaurants, but it's worth it to take a look. In now days so many people have a channels for food regime and advises, so it shouldn't be difficult to find someone trusted advisor. But again why you will do this? Left Gary to be inspired and enthusiastic, to find and learn something new, and just to prepare shopping list for you! Oh, and Trudy's idea for Keto is definitely something he should ask his doctor, as girls here can gives you so many ideas.

Trudy, the Whale Watching tour sounds so exciting! I can't wait to hear your stories! I'm not sure do you will be able to take a photos, but even if not it doesn't matter as I'm sure that the moment will be magical! Run free Willy Whale!!!
Oh, so bad about your MIL, must be very difficult to watch others to enjoy something you are adored but can't do anymore!

Nancy, so good to hear that now you're find new 'passion'! In my opinion books are always better, but I'm not familiar concretely with Longmire, so can't insist.
Nope, the weather here is awful!!! My friend sends me short videos with england rain (I feels we aren't friends anymore lol), and my sis with german cloudy sky, only here we are like living in hell!!! I'm a little bit malicious that you are fry too  . Sorry!

Jean, at WhatsApp have masked smileys, and they are very useful these days, indeed!
Wait, what, so the class ended so fast?! This surprised me! Ohohoho, was these conclusions disappointing end or they send you in another mystery?!
Edit: Opp, Jean, you're posted till I'm typing. I'm so slow figure out translation for the ideas in my head.
Hmm, I'm hear this before, I think from Chris, but I don't get it, sorry! Isn't it's normal every family to have one constantly menu from 10-12 meals that are balanced and repeat during the season?! :noidea: I don't fully understand the need to be creative in your own kitchen. The restaurants are for that  .
