Happy Monday and good morning to you all!
My mom's party was a success, she was very happy and she and my dad didn't bicker at all. (That was a gift to me LOL)
Scott was able to take his "lunch" with us. He was based in Wayne and needed a reason to come up-county. He is writing a workshop for the Spring and figured he needed to "GPS the trails." He was able to see mom and get out for a hike. That makes him much happier than sitting at a desk all day. I'd feel the same too. Well. Maybe not, considering it was pretty darn cold yesterday. *winks*

I am still flipping between scarf patterns and wish I knew what I was doing. hah. The first pattern that I doing is giving me fits. I grabbed a big hook and solid acrylic yarn and went through it again, carefully step by step and I am still getting that curve along the top. So either that is correct or I am just stupid when it comes to reading patterns. I ripped out what I had down with Pattern #2, grabbed a bigger hook, like Eva suggested, and got about 10 rows done. It does look much better and it is super easy. But it's not what I imagined - so I keep looking at the first pattern, then the second. Making myself #crazy

I am going to take a break for that today and clean out the fridge, work on the food shopping, and catch up on some laundry instead.
Maybe some scrapping would be nice too. :)

Have a wonderful day!

@LSlycord heh, that is *exactly* how I am, the same as Syd. When I want to leave/get a time in mind, it becomes written in stone and wow, I get *annoyed* when people make me run late. Scott is the same as me, Caitlyn not so much. I can see Sydney tapping her foot-- it's time to go!

Good luck to her, I know that she has a rough course schedule this semester.

@tanteva I think that is what I was doing-- sc in the same stitch- but I think that I messed it up in more than a few rows which is why the sides aren't identical. I watched the video and it's different than what she did in the pattern I am (was?? am still?) using. But thank you for sharing, it was helpful to see how she was doing the moss stitch.
Oh and you are going to laugh at how ridiculous I am. I had to rip out Scarf #2 an extra time. I had gotten myself so confused I was adding an extra yarn-over on the DC. I don't know where that came from but after a few rows of that, I felt something was off. Went back to a DC stitch tutorial and realized what I was doing. *slaps forehead*
If I ever finish either of these shawls it will a miracle hahaha

@Cherylndesigns ha!! Talking to yourself about what day it is-- that is also something I would do.
That is so cute that Sam is one of the dogs. I had dogs who thought they were part of the Cat Pack.
I am still not sure what I think about dehydrated Skittles. LMK if you make them yourself and how they came out

@BrightEyes I am glad that you popped in yesterday, I hope that the day wasn't too difficult overall. I saw your letter to Bill, beautiful as always ♥

@Betty Jo I have pistachios!! If that is what it takes to get some decent sleep, I will try that.
Good luck getting your files all organized, I am also far behind in that too.
Hugs to you for getting over your anger, that must have been very difficult.
Woah!! That is crazy to spend $100,000 on a wedding. You can put a decent down payment on a house for that much money. Caitlyn and Tom want to have a nice wedding but they don't want to go into any debt for one day. Most places around here are $150 to $200 a plate, that's just stupid
Although, it sounds like DS's business is doing fantastic so that is good for him!

@bcgal00 The birding trips sound wonderful, you are D are really enjoying retired living. When is it considered Spring for birding in your area? Your new camera is going to come in handy for that.
How often does Jen have to make the trip to her dentist? Seems like it is about once a month? Is this from when she had the surgery and her mouth was wired? (That was Jen, IIRC?) Hope that she has an easy trip and no bad weather this time.

Hugs!

Good morning. Beautiful morning here...54 and sunny. Syd texted this morning on her way to classes. Her first class is Organic Chemistry at 8:30. That sounds really awful to me...but I guess she likes that stuff.

Did a couple of layouts yesterday. Worked on organizing genealogy stuff. Today is "pay bills" day. And maybe some meal prep. Also a follow up call to Social Security. They seem to be more motivated when I call them. *&@ idiots!

@faerywings glad that the party went well. It sounds like your mom really had a good time and it was so sweet for Scott to come for lunch with them. Both of my kids are pretty punctual. My dad thought that if you weren't 20 minutes early, you were late. Mom was always late before they were married but never after she married my dad!

@bcgal00 I love planning trips. One of my very most favorite things to do! Hope that Jen's dental appt is uneventful this week.

@Betty Jo I'm sorry that the months of October through December are hard for you. Forty years is a long time to be with someone and then not. I know what you mean about Windows 11. I'm used to it now but I sure don't like it.

@BrightEyes I hope that the coffee down the front of your robe wasn't a predictor of how the rest of your day would go.

@Cherylndesigns I am so happy that Syd likes school. It does make it much easier for me having her go back to something that she likes.

Ok...I'm off to start my day! Have a good day all!

I managed to get through yesterday with a few bumps and break-downs. Did a little bit of several things but couldn't keep my mind on them... Did a bit of scrapping - but keep making spelling errors so quit. Tried watching DVD movies but gave that up after watching 4 of them for about 10 minutes each then turning them off. Finally pulled out a favorite book and re-read it. Just glad that the day is finally past. DD#1 called in morning and we talked for almost an hour. She and her hubby may be coming here next month (his on business and hers to visit family). It would be nice if their visit coincides with my niece's visit.

@Betty Jo you are so right... we will always miss our husbands. Be thankful for every one of those 40 years you spent with him. <<< HUGS >>> DH's down-turn started in November so Nov, Dec and Jan are difficult for me. For some reason, this holiday season seemed to be worse.

Will come back later - when my mood is better.

Morning ladies... I think that I am finally ready to come back to the O and spend more time here! It has been a long and stressful winter so far! I waited until now to return as the Christmas tree and all decorations are now put away and things are finally slowing down a bit! Our son and family had a great time with their visit with us, however the visit with our DIL's side was not so great! Her father is having some mental health issues and he basically ruined their visit with them. He has become somewhat of a recluse since Covid started and thinks the end of the world is near. Stock piling guns etc for the Apocalypse, its pretty scary!! So they ended the visit with him early and came over to spend more time with us. Their trip home did not go well and it took two days for them to get out of the Vancouver airport. Don't ever, ever fly with Flair airlines LOL. Happy to be back home now and the kids are starting school today, so things should be back to normal for them. Heather and her family had a lovely Christmas, although they wish they could have been here and so do we. Perhaps a visit this summer, who knows. Life with the In-Laws continues to be an adventure LOL. For now they are happy to be right where they are. FIL's eyesight is slowly getting worse and we think that he refuses to see his heart dr. because if he has to get angioplasty then they will take his license away from him and they will be in big trouble then. We cringe every time he says they have an appt. to go to and won't let us come and take them to the appt. I sure hope that when we are their age we won't be so dam stubborn!!! I give up trying to help anymore and will leave it with my DH and his sisters to deal with. Anyway on a more positive note... I have been busy doing crafts and got my calendar done in record time for 2023. I will be posting some of the pages soon. Today's project is to get a new siggie done done for here and get some layouts done. Its been far too long and I am looking forward to scrapping again! I hope to get caught up with all that has been happening here, but that might take some time LOL.

@faerywings - Glad to hear that your Mom had a nice party and that she was able to see Scott also!! Sounds like lots has been happening with your kids and I really need to go back over the past few months to see what has been going on! I don't know how you can crochet, it takes too much concentration for me to anything like that. I have the attention span of a two year old LOL.

@LSlycord - Hope that things are good in your neck of the woods, although I am sure you are missing having your daughter home with you! You are almost an empty nester, but I hope that you are keeping yourself busy with lots of travel plans! Still thinking that you might like to move somewhere else?? I will have to check your posts from the last few months too. I have lots to catch up with I think!

@BrightEyes - I hope that the rest of this month is not so hard for you! I think that you and your DH had a love that was so strong!! Not many have that, you were fortunate to have had him in your life and I know that you carry his love with you each and every day! ((((hugs))))

Ok I am off to the forums and then to the store to see what kind of trouble I can get into to. Have a great day everyone! I have missed you all and I am happy to finally be back here again! #kiss3

Quick hello. Jen and Bella left this morning for the drive down to the coast. Weather here is dry and blue skies. She got 30 min away and hit a white out blizzard. Good news is that it was early into the blizzard so they still had the highway open so she could pass thru it slowly. Getting thru the mountain pass between here and Vancouver is always iffy in the winter, so glad she got thru. Now we just have to hope she can make it back in a few days. She really didn't want to go but figures she only has 1 more visit, to get a retainer and then she can transfer to my dental clinic out here. Poor Bella didn't want to go either. She saw Jen with the suitcase, saw that D and I stayed inside, so she went out to the car with tail tucked in, head hanging down, looking so unhappy.

I had to fight with my computer this morning. We tried to see if we could update the driver and it caused all kinds of problems but everything is working again but no driver update is available. I don't know if the driver can be changed but possibly not b/c my computer is too old now. I let hubs know that I'll probably need a new computer within the year. Plugins are super slow and most I can't use.

I'm heading out to the dog park and groceries. Then we'll binge the last 3 episodes of American Horror Story after a hot tub and dinner. Hope you all are having a good day.

@faerywings Glad that your parents had a good visit, especially your mom.

@taxed4ever Welcome back Trudy. Scary to hear of your DIL's father's condition. Sounds like a good idea for you to step back and let G and his family handle things so you can get back to doing your own stuff and preserve your sanity :)

I almost didn't make it in here today. Today has been kind of a waste of time, but I think I'm set now. My PSE apparently died - I started having trouble with it last night and got some good advice from the forum and looking at answers online. To no avail, sadlly. I'd had it since it was brand new, right before 2018 - I've been running that ever since. So, I already had Photoshop CC from a few months ago when I though PSE was dying, but i revived it. I had to keep PSCC for a year, but now I love the Creative Cloud storage and a couple of the other programs that came in the bundle. Of course, they don't let you have things individually for the $9.95 a month.

So, I decided to try to use PSCC - hate it! Today, I figured out why. Everything is SO small!I figured out how to enlarge the icons and all the millions of tools, but they're still too small for my liking. I honestly fooled around with it almost all day and I really tried. I know now that my monitor is too small to run Photoshop. That's why I have failed with using it whenever I've tried. I'm not going to get a new computer, so I have to use what I have, a laptop. I know that a lot of the girls have big monitors and even more than one. SO, after spending hours and hours, I got a month-long free trial of a new PSE version and deleted my old version and downloaded the new one. I'd really like to be able to use PS, because I love the warping that's so easy to use, but I'll have to find some styles or just used pre-warped photo frames. ***SIGH***

So, it's been a fun (not) day.

Hope everybody has had a more productive day. XOXO
