You know what day it is... It is Monday and not only that, it is the first Monday of the New Year and the first full week of 2025.
Talk about an opportunity for a fresh start!

Hey now, I can hear you all muttering- "What is Faery blabbering on about this time?"
I'm trying to get the new year off to the best start ever. Or at least to an acceptable start, I'll take whatever I can get.

Did everyone have a wonderful weekend? I got off to a decent start yesterday but by mid-afternoon, I started to crash and it went downhill quickly. I was in a dead zone by dinnertime. The kids wanted to play Mario Party after dinner, so we did and I was so much worse than usual. I ended the game with zero stars and 6 coins. Usually, I can get one star and if I don't get stars, I'll have more coins than 6. I was that bad. :giggle4:
The dogs had me up at 2.30 am to let them out and it took me forever to go back to sleep. I listened to a podcast about backyard raptors, realized I was too interested in it, and switched to a history one about Rasputin. That one put me to sleep.

As of this moment, I am not sure what I am doing today other than finishing up my grocery list, laundry, and cleaning the house a little more. HS still only has one person signed up for this session so if they don't get 2 more, it will get canceled. Several of the people from the last sessions said they weren't signing up for January b/c of the weather. If we get some last-minute registrations, I have to get that lesson plan ready to go. It's sketched out but nothing specific.
(Did I tell you all of this already? Sorry if I am repeating myself!)

To all of you in the middle of that snow/ice storm, be safe and stay warm! We might get a dusting but it's well south of us. Take care!

Hugs!

@vickyday I hear you about not wanting to deal with tons of food prep. That is part of what did me in yesterday. I made vegan baked macaroni and cheese and garlic bread which doesn't sound complicated but it was time-consuming. Standing on my feet in the kitchen for a couple of hours kicks in all of my POTS symptoms. Today is going to have to be an easier dinner.
Sounds like the church service was a good one! Was it for a special event?

@BrightEyes Sending you love as the anniversary comes closer. I remember it because it is the same as my mom's b-day. I hope that you can feel my hugs!
I know that you will miss DD#3 this week but it's awesome that she can help DD#1 How long will it be before DD#1 is in a boot?
I hope that you get snow or rain for the ground but only on days you don't have to go anywhere.

@mimes1 Good luck going back to work today. Try to pace yourself and take breaks when you can. The last thing you need to to be exhausted and not enjoy having Belle home for dinner ♥
(Mark is the sweetest - getting her flowers, good man!!!)

@bcgal00 That's a bummer about the Ace game but-- I am crossing my fingers and toes for the next draw!!!
I read Five Star Weekend over the summer, very cute!
That would be really neat to see the ice bubbles, but me-- I'll stay on the shore, thank you very much. :floorlaugh:

@LaurieW I am so glad you were able to find a hotel instead of traveling in that bad weather. Doubly glad that you have internet :D
be safe whenever you get back on the road!

:hug4:

Is it the Timadax (I forget the correct spelling, sorry!) that causes you to crash later in the day?
YUP! We are some of the ones in the ice part of the storm! It started as flurries yesterday at noon then turned to sleet, then turned to sleet mixed with rain which made the roads and exposed decking slick. There was a 2 hour school delay the last I heard. Right now it just sounds like rain and the temp is 31 feels like 24! My chimes are not sounding so not sure what makes the temp feel like 24. I need to run by the bank to deposit the church offering and run to the church and check the mail box because I forgot to check it yesterday while there. Still not a habit yet since I just became the treasurer this month. I'll get there, LOL!

Morning O Fam!

We have until 11 am to decide if we want to stay another night or not. If we go it will be slow going. They are predicting more snow throughout the day where we need to travel. I really want to go home- have been on the road since 12/27. We have stayed in hotels in 5 different cities. I did wash clothes 8 days ago, and will have tons of laundry when we do get home. On the plus side- I got the first kit of 52 inspirations and made a layout about the storm already! If we stay I plan to sort through my digi files and get them in order, perhaps scrap some more! And we have decided to stay one more day.

Good Morning,
We are some of the ones in the ice/snow part of the country! We had a blast with Mark's daughter, granddaughter (and boyfriend) and grandson last night. I especially enjoyed it because Mark's daughter fixed supper! I gladly did the clean up after they left, LOL! We played UNO Stacko which is a combination of UNO and Jenga. Very fun and lots of laughs. Then we played UNO Attack which has a card-throwing gadget when you are required to draw. More laughs. When the school delay was announced they stayed for a couple more hours. It was a busy day and I was whipped! I started and finished my ATC for the day but didn't get it posted to the gallery until today! I always pray as I am lying in bed. I remember starting the prayer.....but I don't remember finishing it! I didn't wake up until almost 6:30. The house is nice and quiet as Mark went back to work today.

We don't pay for trash collection here at the house. Mark's shop has trash collection for a big dumpster, which they only use maybe 1/3 of, so the boss allows the employees to bring their trash to the shop dumpster. That is nice. Saves us about $60 a month! He had 4 bags to take to the shop this morning with being home the last 2 weeks!

I wanted to wash the bed linens today, but with the rain we have had I'm thinking I better hold off for today. Plus I need to start thinking seriously about my devotion for the widows this month. I have an idea about what I want to do. Plus, my kids and grands will be coming in this weekend for our Christmas celebration, so I've got to get prepared for that, too, this week! Its going to be one of those busy weeks!

HAGD!

There's no place like home.....there's no place like home.....says Dorothy from Wizard of Oz.....and I totally agree! Be careful in your travels home back to Ohio??? is that what I recall? I have a daughter near Columbus. She hasn't said anything about snow in our family chat. No matter where your travels take you, stay safe!

I forgot to answer this in my post.
Standing on my feet in the kitchen kills my back! I helped out the pastor's wife yesterday doing the final food prep getting everything out of the warming oven and fridge and finding a place for everything on the serving tables! Lifting and carrying stuff like that (crockpots, etc) gets to my back too! Part of the reason I was wiped out last night! Then standing over the sink for cleanup afterwards....OY VEY! I was happy when I left the sink to check on things and someone else took my place at the sink! I did not argue, LOL! Another reason I was glad Jenifer (Mark's daughter) fixed supper last night! And we were able to bring leftover chicken home from church, and some fixings, so that will be supper tonight!

Also, the service was a special event. The 3 preachers were sons of the late pastor who was at the church before Tim and I came. Two of their sisters still attend the church and the 3rd is nearby. This weekend was their Christmas gathering, so while they were in the pastor had them all preach yesterday. The services began at 10 and 11 and broke for lunch at 12 and then again at 2 for the final sermon! A busy but wonderful time!

Morning, all. Another tossing and turning night. Guess it will like that until after Jan 8th...

@faerywings I was wondering how you remembered that date but it makes sense as it is your Mom's birthday. And yes, I can feel your hugs. DD#1 gets her cast changed to a boot tomorrow if all goes well. But, it will be a few weeks before she can do weight-bearing on that foot. Think that DD#3 will be there for 2-3 weeks. The forecast is for snow on Wed so will try to get my errands done today or tomorrow.

I am still learning my way around Windows 11... finally figured out how to change the desktop background. I didn't like the one that showed up about a month ago so got one from Bing but hated it. Then yesterday I found one with a beautiful river and hills that I can live with. :D Very calm and peaceful. Just what my mind needed.

I hear you all about standing and cooling and cleaning causing back pain. Happens to me if I stand very long. Thank heavens for the freezer and the meals I have stored there. Got out enchilada sauce and guacamole on Saturday. Enjoyed them for the last two days. I need to make up some more as that the last of those. And for some crazy reason, I have been craving meat loaf... of all things!!! I see the pie shell every time I open the freezer and that makes me think about pumpkin pie and that makes my mouth water for it! :floorlaugh:

Good morning ladies. I watched Trudeau's resignation on tv and now will enjoy a second cup of coffee (with collagen) before heading out for errands in a bit. I found a blazer on marketplace that I will go pick up, if it fits me. I love the after Xmas marketplace deals, so much to choose from in Calgary. I think a lot of people clear out their stuff after receiving gifts/money at Xmas. I always get lucky with a few purchases. The other thing I'll pick up today from marketplace is a charcuterie board (that matches the one I already have) but this one has a sectioned round tray and the ceramic bowls that fit into it that my board doesn't have. It'll be nice to have a matching set. It also comes with serving cutlery.

I will bring Remi and stop at a dog park on the way back. She will love that. I can throw snowballs for her.

I thought we were watching the final two episodes of The Day of the Jackal last night, only to discover there are two more episodes coming this month. I'll PVR them both so we can watch the final two hours in one sitting.

I think tonight we'll start binging season 2 of Based On A True Story.

Dinner will be pork chop and leftover mashed potatoes for D, beef spiced TVP for me, mixed into rice and parmesan garlic baked green beans. I need to get back to normal, eating more veggies, less meat and cutting down on starches.

@faerywings Hope today is a better day for you.
@BrightEyes Glad you are figuring out windows 11. I am not looking forward to upgrading later this year. I don't think my PC is upgradeable so I think I'll need a new tower with windows 11...ugh.
@vickyday Sounds like a fun family time with games!

I'd better get my collagen coffee and get on with my day. It's warmed up a bit to 23F so it'll be a good day to get out. (Can you believe I think that 23 is "good" lol). I'm a true Albertan now, good weather is anything above freezing LOL.

where has the day gone???

Oh yeah, in a vortex of cyber attacks on our internet and snow swirling wind blowing laundry has to get done. Hope youre all having a wonderful day!

It sounds like a lot of us have problems sleeping! I hate it. Since hitting menopause I'm lucky if I stay asleep for longer than 40 minutes at a time - and that is after spending a few hours trying to GET to sleep.
