Before I ramble about my weekend, I am wishing everyone a Happy Hanukkah! No matter what religion or non-religion you are, it is an excellent time to recognize that life really is a series of miracles and it's nice to remember and appreciate that :)

How was your weekend? Mine was really good, I got lots of stuff done and I am feeling pretty good about the upcoming week.
Yes, really!
I have some mixed feelings about - well, everything-- but have been trying to work through it all. My brother called yesterday morning with an update on my parents and they are just not doing good. My dad had another vertigo attack and my mom has been on a tear. Angry at everything. I was going to call her to check in on some of the things I ordered for her and make sure everything was being delivered, and I decided to wait a day. *sigh*

But the good news is that I set up the folding table in the bedroom and wrapped for a few hours while watching It's a Wonderful Life. What a difference not hunching over the bed. Why did I never think of that? Thank you for saying that is how you were doing it, Rae. I have a better grasp of what I bought and the few things I still need to get for stockings. As I was wrapping, I heard the firetrucks come up the street so I took a break and ran out to wave at Santa. No kids in sight, but there were me, and two of my neighbors out there- and I am the youngest of the bunch. haha!

Today is cleaning up some of the mess from the weekend, plus working on my food shopping and menu. I am going to have to call my mom at some point too. The hardest part is that my brother asked me to not let her know he called  Typical stuff... BTDT. It's a pain.

HAGD!!

@BrightEyes The enchiladas sound really good! And easy. I know I have cream of chicken soup on hand, and chicken strips in the freezer.
I wish you lived on my street- we were going to watch Die Hard last night and debate whether it is a Christmas Movie and it wasn't streaming anywhere for free. I bet you have it -- and know exactly what shelf it is on :D

@tanteva Are you feeling any better/fever-free today? I hope so. But how neat to find a book and series that you like and that you know the author. That is the kind of dystopian book I like. That are in the realm of possible. I had read the Handmaid's Tale years and years ago but reread it a few years back, after I started to watch the series. Terrifying. The Oryx and Crake series by Atwood gave me the same feeling too.

I like that cowl and I also saw this one Tea Cake Cowl that if I get good yarn for, I might try.

@vickyday Yes! All done with baking, there is not an inch left in my freezer to put them:D

@LSlycord Everything still on with Busch Gardens tomorrow? Lots of deep breaths and good thoughts my friend. It is part of the process and it sucks ;) Syd is fantastic about keeping tough and that is a big help.
I am with all of you-- that AP Twinkle is just stunning!
Wow, I can't believe that you remembered I used to read Stephanie Plum books, I am not sure how more there are after I stopped. I think I was up to 22? 23? Loved the NJ flavor of them, that always made me laugh. Enjoy the Rosetti ones!

@bcgal00 Hope you and Remi had fun playing in the snow!

Eva- the mice are so cute!!! Why are eggs so expensive? Now I want to make them!! (who would ever think that eggs-- the go-to low-cost protein would be so expensive!?)

Hugs to you all!

Good morning ladies. It's cold here. I hate saying that because I know that most of you have it so much worse than me...we need to recruit some Florida members to our Daily O's. Then my complaining won't be as bad. It's only 40* so I'm in the office instead of on the lanai.

Sydney is heading to Busch Gardens with some friends from college. They moved the trip up a day so that they wouldn't need to deal with rain tomorrow. She is leaving at 8:30 and won't be back until really late. She asked if I would still be up, even if it is after midnight. Yep, I said. I'll still be up. And I reminded her not to get separated from her group...and to not go to the bathroom alone. Too much sex traffic down here.

The new cleaning ladies are coming for the first time today. So that will be nice.

Other than that, no really big plans today!

@faerywings I was almost certain that I remembered that we discussed reading Stephanie Plum. Lots of laughter. I remember those days at the O with great fondness! And I am so, so glad that I am back!

@Cherylndesigns love the photos of Ava succeeding in JiJitsu. I love a sport that is lifelong. Very cool that she has found it. Did you go watch the sparring? When my oldest niece was about 12, she had earned a black belt in tae kwondo. She loved to spar but because of her level of proficiency, she wound up sparring with adults. I watched once but that was the last time. I couldn't take it. But I loved hearing about it when she would get home.

@tanteva you do find the cutest things. Since I'm not creative at all, I do love your findings! I hope that the fever is gone! Did you find someone to replace you at work?

@BrightEyes hope the sleep was better last night and that you don't have any errands that require you to be out this week!

@vickyday did you find your DIY creche?

I found one I'm going to try to make since I have plenty of woods to get my materials from ;)

I'm home today, but I'm feeling much better. Was even able to make a layout today for the art doll challenge. Also, I've been knitting some more on Hilma. Body is done, and nose plus half an arm. Maybe I can finish her tonight? Need to start working on dinner soon though.

Did swap shift with someone, and will work on Wednesday instead. Will be great, then I have Thursday & Friday to prepare for Christmas dinner. Remember: we celebrate on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day.

Good morning!
Went to my daughter's church last night to watch their Christmas play. Her oldest daughter was singing in a group. It was a good play. They would do an act and then the group would sing.

Today DH wants to go to lunch. And we stopped at Arby's after the play last night, too! Take me out to eat and I'm a happy girl! ;) He usually gets half of what I buy because about half is all my stomach can handle at one time! And I'm not much for leftover sandwiches. He will eat leftover anything.....and usually cold! Gag me with a spoon! ;)

After we eat and I drop him back at work I have to go to Wally's World to do some shopping. I need to get cash for the grands and get some other items. Hopefully I can get it all in one stop!

It is below freezing here today, but the sun shine is promising!

Ilene has already hit me up for tomorrow, LOL! She wants to fix breakfast or lunch for Carolyn and I before we play. We can't stay as long as we usually do because her Sunday school class is going out to supper. So we will probably leave around 4 to give her time to get ready.

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. It is a beautiful cold clear day here, -8F and won't warm up until next week. The dogs can only go out for about 10 minutes during this cold snap. Their feet can get frostbite. It was like the snow was kind of tacky, slightly sticky, last night, Taz was walking but his feet would stick for a second and he was so funny, walking but lifting each leg high. No burns on his pads though, he is ok. I have pad balm for their feet so will be putting that on them every day.

I went out for a drive with Remi yesterday, it was so cold that I could only stand outside for a few minutes because my face hurt from the cold/wind on the river. It was beautiful out though and I'm glad I went. Of course, Remi didn't mind the cold, she was racing up and down the trail, chasing her ball.

I've continued to look at cameras so have it narrowed down to a couple but also heard that there might be a new nikon coming out in 2023 so I may or may not wait. My camera works for now, it is just heavy with the big lens so replacing sooner will be more comfortable but I can wait if that is the best choice. I ordered a more comfortable camera strap so that will help in the meantime.

I am going to take a drive with the dogs later along another portion of the river. Since I can't take them out hiking in this cold at least we can get out for a drive.

@faerywings Sorry to hear your parents are having a hard time. Try not to let it stress you out (too much). I know you worry about them.

@LSlycord Good mom advice for S.

@tanteva Glad to hear you are feeling better. Happy crafting today!

@vickyday Enjoy lunch and then shopping.

Time to get dressed and go check the bird seed, they swooped in right away this morning and gobbled up the food quickly. I don't know how they survive this cold.

HAGD everyone.

Well, it noon here and I am just now getting around to posting here and hoping that all of you are doing well. Good luck to all who are still busy getting gifts bought and wrapped, food bought and ready for the holiday meals, and to those who will be traveling - may your journey be swift and stress-free.

Chris, I took a good look at the layers in the enchiladas last evening. Looks like there was a layer of tortillas, a layer of chili-soup, then a big layer of shredded chicken, another layer of chili-soup, a layer of shredded cheese, a layer of tortillas, and final layer of cheese. So sorry your parents are having more problems. <<< hugs >>>

#mad No, I don't have the "Die Hard" DVD!!! I do have "Sixth Sense" and "The Kid" but don't have any of the Die Hard character ones. I watched the first 2 parts of "John Adams" yesterday afternoon. Will space the rest of them out over the next few days. It is a fascinating look back at that point in time. Then for a change of pace, I re-watched "Cast Away" in the evening after supper. I stay with 'feel good' movies at this time of year... or some of my old time favorites...

@bcgal00 WOW... that is COLD!!! Hadn't thought about how the dogs also need to limit their time out, too. Good luck on the decisions about the camera and equipment. Sure hope the one guy will come through with his at a good price,

@LSlycord I am doing a happy dance... the temp here is all the way UP TO 43*F!!! LOL... that is warm compared to what it has been. I know... I know... that is cold for Florida! It is all in what/where you live as to whether that is cold or warm.

Time to get my shower and get dressed... been having a few too many PJ days lately.

I never gave it a thought about having to limit the dogs' time outside when it is as cold as it is where you are! I'm glad it doesn't get that cold here! It started out at 30*F for me today, but got up in the 40's by this afternoon. I was moving around outside enough that I was comfortable in a thin sweatshirt. I say thin because it is so old it is about threadbare! But it is my favorite sweatshirt of all times. I will be very sad when it finally dies!
Thanks! Had a nice lunch with DH. He took the other half of my chicken hoagie back to work with him for lunch tomorrow. That is all I've had today and after working outside this afternoon and shopping before that, I am ready to eat something again, LOL!

Thanks, Linda. Yes, I went to her first tournament. It was going to be a long day so Adrienne and I drove over to Tulsa about 1 PM. Ava really loves it and has worked so hard! It was fun, but kind of nerve-wracking watching her.
