Yup, it's Monday:

If you are wondering, my mood has improved since yesterday morning. Dirt therapy helped a lot. :flower: I saw a few small toads and one that was possibly TJ. TJ-sized and color for sure. Unfortunately, I found more yellow jackets that were chipping holes in the foundation of the house. The ones in the siding up front are still getting in the house, Gary had to catch three of them buzzing around at dinner. It's a never-ending battle with them.

I spoke to my mom about the dress and we changed our plans. We were going to get together on Tuesday to look for some clothes for her when we go down the shore in a few weeks. Instead, I am going to bring the dress to the bridal shop near her and see if they can take a look at it. She had me laughing. She approaches problems differently than I do. She likes to throw everything she can at the issue. Then she steps back and throws some more. That makes my head spin. :spinningchair: I do much better if I can focus on one idea at a time even if I struggle with picking the "one." She had suggested about 10 different solutions/options and I kept saying that we don't even know if we *need* solutions. hahahah! Caitlyn thinks that it will look fine and hopes that I keep it. Nothing I can do about it today so it gets shoved to the back of my mind for now.

The big concern for today is trying to get an appt for the rats this morning. Or anytime today *fingers crossed* I am doing it for Caitlyn since she can't take off any day this week or next because it is Move-In Week and the start of classes, it is Blackout Dasy for advisors. Badger has another lump she wants checked out but Otter is the one she is most concerned about. Over the weekend, Otter started having trouble with the left side of her body, not having strength in her left hand and leg and some slight vision trouble. In humans I would think stroke, but in rats, more likely a brain tumor. Maybe? I hope that she'll be able to call to make the appt so she can explain exactly what is going on but if not, she wrote up a detailed list and sent me photos to show the vet. Poor baby :(
Because of that, I don't know what I am doing today but if I can, I'll head to the library for CC. They won't be open next Monday for Labor Day and I want to keep going. If I miss 2 weeks in a row, I know I'll find excuses to stop going.

Today, I am grateful that I have a mother who is supportive and engaged. ♥

Good morning. It's quiet here. The weather is nice this morning. It's only 77 and the ceiling fan on the lanai keeps it cool. Woke up to the 5 am forecast for hurricanes now has Hurricane Idalia predicted as a potential Cat 3. A bit of a far cry from the Cat 1 they started predicting. Still going to the other side of the state so we should only get rain and strong winds. But the other side of the state isn't really recovered from last fall's hurricane. @Cherylndesigns I bet that you are so relieved to have Steph and Asher out of that.

@faerywings I'm glad that you are able to help Caitlyn with the rats today. Fingers crossed that they are able to get in. And I'm happy that your mom was able to come up with a plan to help you with the dress.

Not much going on today. Well, there is work...always, work. I have a dentist appointment for Thursday morning at 8:00 but with the weather that is coming, I'm going to cancel that. I don't want deal with any of that. A dentist appointment isn't urgent...well, at least this time it isn't.

I can't believe that September is the end of this week. How does that happen? Ok...I'm off to get myself ready for work.

What do you ladies think? You can see where it is supposed to flare right near my ankles. Stupid? I know-- I really shouldn't worry about it until I see what the bridal shop says tomorrow. :p

@vickyday I have 7 days from the day it was delivered to return it for a refund. Since I contacted them about the loose thread, I already have the return paperwork. So that's a relief at least.
Hope you guys enjoyed the day together. The blanket must be looking really awesome!

@BrightEyes Oh drat! That's not good news about the BP still dropping on the non-med days, Maybe the news schedule of every third day will do the trick. I hope that it gets sorted and the tremors ease up soon. Haha, you don't have to ask me how I am with the days and when August will end. Don't ask Cheryl either. :giggle4:

@bcgal00 Ugh, that stinks about the house buyers. :( I hope that the realtor tour is helpful but your house sounds like it is in excellent condition and I know how carefully you decorated it.
This will make you laugh a little- the house that Caitlyn and Tom looked at yesterday really could have used some guidance from a realtor's staging advice. There was porn hanging up in the garage and magazines in the closets. :goofing: My SIL was very uncomfortable, Cait and Tom thought it was hysterical. But can you imagine?? (no, you don't have to. I'd rather not myself!)

@Cherylndesigns The lounge-y clothes sound fabulous. I love anything soft and stretchy. Not a fan of mango though but I'm super happy that you enjoyed it.
It really stinks that sizes typically run for people who are tall and thin. And there isn't usually a huge selection in petite sizes for anything exciting.
Hope the rest of your day was more organized-feeling than it started.

Sorry that you have the opposite problem, Vicky. It's really so much easier to wear sweats 24/7/365, right?
Gonna add Kay to that list too, it's hard to shop for clothes no matter what size and shape we are. :thud:

@LSlycord :rotfl: at the women who can't imagine going digital! If they tried it, they would convert. Even at CC, I start looking for a specific color and there isn't a pencil in the shade I want and wish I could grab the color picker tool or add a color overlay :D
That's funny to meet a woman from Iowa. Does she live in FL year-round now?
Woooo hoo, who is counting down the days until Saturday? *G*
I know, I know-- the dress is for a special day and I was already scolded by Cait and my mom about minimizing it. I will try to stop doing that.

ooops! I gotta run, I have no idea when/if the rats will be able to get in so I need to be ready. I already drove to the vet's office in 20 minutes instead of the closer to 30 it should take. (That was when Evie pulled all of her stitches out right after her surgery). I don't want to do that thrill ride again!

HUGS!!!

That's a great idea to take the dress to a shop near your mom! And it's good Caitlyn thinks you should keep it! If the bride is ok with it I say it's a good thing!

Yeah, I usually only put on clothes that matter when I go to lunch with Mark or Ilene!
The baby blanket is turning out nicely!

Good morning,
Laundry day for me today and that's about it besides working on the baby blanket. I got some pictures of a hawk in the back yard on Saturday that I want to scrap so I may do that, too.
Mark and I had a nice and easy and restful day yesterday. I baked chicken for lunch and just had to heat through the green beans and carrots. And for supper we ordered from dominoes. He watched races and football from the couch (in a prone position....there may have been some snoozing) while I knitted or played games on the tablet.
Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. I am puttering around the house today. No new showings booked so might be a quiet week (aside from the realtor showing tomorrow). I want to work on the trip today. I need to talk to our agent about the flights and get that straightened out. We have one season left to watch of Travelers. I got D watching it too and he likes it.

@faerywings I hope they come up with a design alteration for the dress that you like. I had to laugh at C&T viewing that home. That's crazy LOL. That would never happen here.

I'm getting more coffee and will read my book for a bit before tackling the travel stuff. HAGD everyone.

I am a bit late getting in here this morning. Got a call from my cousin Karen to let me know that her aunt - my mom's 1st cousin - had passed away last night. She was the last of my mom's generation. She turned 90 in April... and like many of the Carman's, she was long-lived. It is sad (and scary) to know that my generation is now the oldest one!!! How did that happen??? :spinningchair: Turns out that Bonnie and her daughter wrote a book about the family - and Karen gave me the title. Called my sis to let her know about Bonnie's passing - and also about the book. I found it on Amazon. Sis is an Amazon Prime member and ordered 1 for her and 1 for me. I am looking forward to it arriving this Friday!!!

I promised my cousin Karen, I would look through Mom's photos for a the one of her 3 brothers as children 3, 5, and 6. The youngest brother died when he was only 3 and Karen has never seen that photo. She wasn't born until 6 years later. I know that I have a lot duplicates of us cousins when we were children so will gather them up and send them to her. She and her brothers were like our brothers and sister and live catty-corner from us and my grandmother. I realized that I should be passing the family stories on to the younger generation.

Needless to say - there were several phone calls with family today. Will try to come back to post more later. HAGW

Good afternoon. Kay @BrightEyes I'm so sorry you lost your aunt. That's pretty amazing about the book, though. How cool is that? What a wonderful surprise that had to be for you!

Chris @faerywings I'm glad you're having a better day today. I think the dress is going to look fine. You look beautiful in it and if you change your mind, you'll find another one. Here's your sprinkling of faery dust: :fairy2::fairy1:

I just finished an avacado - man they're kind of messy to prep, but so good. I had trouble getting the big seed out of this one. It didn't want to leave. LOL I always get it all over my hands. I got some pretty oranges at Wally's yesterday and had one of them for my after dinner snack last night.

Linda @LSlycord the paper scrappers will never "get over" us digi scrappers. It's a mindset. I was on a couple of boards after I started digi and most were paper. There was always an "under current" of non-acceptance of digi scrappers.

Vicky @vickyday how exciting that you're about to finish the baby blanket.

I'm getting a late start here, so I'm going to cut this short. Have a wonderful Monday everybody and hugs to all.
