Good morning and Happy Monday!
My weather app is teasing me again. It keeps saying that rain is coming. There might be rain in other areas of the state but we are still bone dry. All I could do in that yard yesterday is cut back everything that is dead, save the resources for the plants that just might make it. The lawn is covered with leaves. I can't rake them or I will rip out the dead grass and if it ever does rain, my "lawn" is going to be a mud puddle.

The good news is that I have two days of ACDSee not crashing. I lost a bunch of tags and have backup and optimized the database about three times a day LOL Not taking any chances if/when it crashed again.
Scott called last night, they found a hotel a few hours from here to stay overnight and they will be home some times today. He sounded exhausted. I am glad they decided not to push through.

I have to think of something quick to make for dinner tonight. Cait is tutoring 6-8 pm after working all day so she isn't going to have a lot of time between jobs. Considering BBQ onion quesadillas. *nods* that might be a good option

Please-- send rain vibes!!

xoxo

My life is sooooooooo boring. So boring. hahaha!!

@tanteva Did you ever do anything other than crochet and TV? I am glad you will get some extra hours in for work, is it still that you won't be able to work PT because of that law? Or was anything able to be worked out?
Thanks-- the news about my mom was really good to hear!

@BrightEyes It is too early to bundle up that much. I hope that the dr is able to figure out what is going on- have you been tested for anemia, that is also something that can make you feel cold, although that is more "constant"

@Cherylndesigns That is awesome that Bradon has already been accepted into college and is working towards getting his Gen Eds filled in. He must be super smart! what a fab experience he must have had at the internship, and to see a Picasso, very cool :)
Can't wait to see the pics of the pool and new landscaping!

Waving hi to everyone! #kiss3

Good morning all! We had huge storms last night and lost internet connectivity. Tried all of the things that AT&T tells you to do. but alas, no internet. So Brian is calling now. They send you through all of these self help steps…which we had already tried. Then we needed to wait for 7:00 eastern. Eventually…

Decker comes tonight. So the world as we know it will e vey different for the next two weeks…

Good morning everyone. Thanks so much for all your well wishes throughout my Vertigo episode. When I felt it coming on I tried the Epley maneuver, which normally helps, but not this time. I can't take the meds for Vertigo 'cause they make mine worse. I have severe chemical sensitivity so most meds are out for me. I'm going through a scrapping withdrawal! I hope to be able to work on a page today, finally.

We're not having the usual rain and thunderstorms toda,y and it's a bit cooler; only supposed to get up to 80 degrees F. :) I haven't checked to see if this has been the hottest summer in my area, but it has been since I've lived here. Winter's hard here, with lots of ice, but I wish for an early fall, even though I know winter is a blink away. Maybe fall will get stuck this year and last longer!

@faerywings Chris, I'm glad your ACDSee isn't crashing. BBQ onion quesadillas sounds delish!

@BrightEyes Kay, I hope your doc is able to help with your cold spells. I too was thinking of anemia.

@LSlycord I hope you get your net up and running again soon. It can be so frustrating. I'm not sure who Decker is, but it sounds interesting.

Well eventually means not today. modem was fried by the storms last night so they are sending a new one. So no work today. I’m sure they must think what a slacker. But, I am giving my two week today. Notice today. I don’t like this job and I’m too old to do a job that I don’t like. I may or may not find another one. I need A job that is motivating…this one only pays bills. Not that paying bills is a bad thing. Lol.

Anyway, since I’m on the iPad, personals will be one at a time.

@Betty Jo, glad that you are still feeling better. I hope that you can be at the computer to do a layout. I do not like ice, but I sure love fall and cooler temps. Remind me, are you in NC?

Decker is a foster dog. He has had the worst of luck. He spent his first year as a bait dog. Then they put him in some terrible county run kennel in Georgia. Finally, he was rescued by a dog rescue here in Florida. He was at the Pet resort where my son works and my son took a liking to him so we said we would foster him. We had him for 4 weeks and then he went back to boarding While they worked on a placement. The placement didn’t materialize so we took him again in March for a couple of weeks. He again went back to boarding. He now has a family ready to adopt him…has been living with them for the summer. But they already had a trip to Alaska planned. Decker is reactive to male dogs and doesn’t do well at kennels. So we are taking him for two weeks.

We have two female dog and we worked very hard at first to get them all adjusted. Now they all do ok with each other. But sometimes they get too rowdy and you need to watch Decker when that happens…he doesn’t read social clues sometimes. Anyway, that will be our two week adventure.

Oh no. I've been concerned about that with all the storms we've been having, but so far, it's been okay. Hope you get the modem soon.

Yes, Linda, I'm in Western NC.

Ohhhh, Decker is the cutest name for a dog. I love that! Wow! He's really been around the bend and back again. I hope he does well with your "girls." Have fun! :)

@faerywings I will still work part time. But the change because of the law is that I will not be hired per hour. I will instead be hired on 20%, but on a monthly contract. Then other rules apply, and they wouldn't be required to hire me permanently. I'm still considered "extra staff", but other rules apply. Technically, I get more security, but on the other hand, this contract will only be for September & October, and I have no idea what the chances are for it to be prolonged. Haven't signed any papers yet, I assume we'll have a meeting later this week.

Things are a bit crazy at work right now. We will have to rearrange furniture and stuff, cuz we will host the elections, starting Wednesday. The actual election day is on September 11, but people can vote before, and one of those places are at our library. I think it will be fun to see how it's done. I've never worked at an election before, only seen it as a voter. We had an introduction today. Hardest part for me will definetely be to stay calm and neutral. LOL Me having to have zero opinions for 2 hrs straight!!! Imagine that!

Well, I'm on the tablet & autocorrect is killing me. Changes every other word to a Swedish word. LOL Think I managed to correct everything back to English.

Good morning ladies. I am back from vacation. We had a busy yet wonderful relaxing time. We were up every morning to room service coffee, sat in the main restaurant for a leisurely breakfast and then would start our day with wandering the ship, getting off at ports and going on excursions. Unfortunately, the weather was crappy when we visited the Hubbard Glacier but the rest of the trip was great weather. The helicopter ride over Mendenhall Glacier and then stopping on Herbert Glacier was fantastic. It was my first helicopter ride and I loved it. Jen and I got to sit in the front with the pilot. I snapped a ton of pics with my phone from about 4000 feet above ground. I didn't get any good pics when we went whale watching. They would come up so quickly and disappear under water that the timing for getting a photo was never right. But we did see them breeching the water right alongside our boat. It rained out at sea and the water was very choppy so I could never hold steady for pics. What a fun time though. We saw a couple of fun shows on the ship and played in the casino one night. We bought a ton of stuff...jackets, mugs, sweatshirts, hats, gloves and I bought 3 wooden and stone carvings - fish, eagle and bear. We were so glad to have upgraded our room, we had an extra large veranda so all three of us could sit out comfortably and not be crowded. Our room was adequate, we managed to get all our stuff in and were never cluttered. Buying the magnetic wall hooks was a lifesaver for hanging stuff up. We had priority embarking and leaving so getting on and off the ship was the best we've ever experienced before. It was a wonderful trip but now I'm happy to be home and the dogs were so excited when we picked them up late yesterday afternoon. They ran to the field to show us their play area, their pool and the toys LOL.

The owner was very impressed with our dog training and offered Jen a part time job that she is pretty sure she will take. She will work a few late afternoons a week, will walk the dogs, tidy up the kennel and will learn grooming which is what she is really interested in. It's only 5 minutes from home too which is nice. She will start in a few weeks. The owner is getting older and has arthritis in her hands so is very interested in training someone to work with her.

This morning Remi woke up at 6 and slept for another hour with her head on my shoulder, wanting to stay close to me. She is constantly doing her happy wiggle butt walk. Taz is happy but tired. He'll sleep for a few days to catch up. I'm a bit tired still and will have a quiet day. We'll be in the pool later and I need to unpack and do laundry. Not sure if I'll get back to scrapping yet. I'll see how I feel this afternoon.

Hope everyone is well and had a good week while I was away.

Good Monday Morning ladies!! It is a beautiful morning and I have the house all to myself finally!! DH tested negative on Friday afternoon and so did I, Hooray!! I really am not sure how I dodged the bullet, but so glad that I did! It was another busy weekend as we got a bunch of bushes trimmed and then had to take all the mess away to Bings Creek to dump it all off. We also got rid of our old King Size Mattress that we replaced months ago. It was good to have that gone! We cleaned up the the suite downstairs, it had become our storage place for the last couple of years. We are now thinking about renting it out. It is not for sure, but one of the rowers on the Lake at the bottom of the hill is looking for a Single Suite while she trains for the Paris Olympics. She posted an ad on the mailbox and she would make the perfect tenant. (Hardly ever here LOL. ) So she came to house to check it out and loved the space, we will have to furnish it a bit more, but we had planned on doing that anyway. We originally thought of doing an Air B&B. we will see what works out. She is the sweetest thing and totally dedicated to her goal to go to the Olympics in Paris! Trains 6 days a week and does a few weeks at different training spots around the world too. So like I said she would hardly ever be here! She has already been in the last Olympics in Tokyo. Anyway we will hopefully find out by the end of this week. Yesterday we decided to go up to see the In-Laws and phoned a head of time to make sure it was ok. We didn't want to go if they were afraid of getting Covid, but DH is no longer showing any signs of being sick at all and has tested negative twice now as I made him test again before we went to visit. They were so happy to see us!! We had lots to catch up on as we haven't seen them since we left on our trip to Ottawa. We gave her, her birthday gift, a large print novel called "Run Rose, Run!" written by James Patterson and Dolly Parton. She just loved it!! She loves getting the large print books as her eye sight is not so great anymore. I made her a birthday card, but forgot to take a photo of it darn it!! Anyway that was our busy weekend! Looking forward to a quiet day at home. Ha, Ha, I have probably jinxed myself and it will be one of those days that gets totally out of control with tons of phone calls or other things to keep me off the computer #crazy.

@faerywings - Glad to hear that Scott got a hotel room and got some rest before heading home! Sure hope you see some rain in the next few days, it is amazing how quickly it can get so dry here too! Next thing you know we will both be complaining about the non- stop rain LOL. Hooray for ACDSee not crashing anymore! Hopefully it continues to behave for you! Anything BBQ is a great idea! Your choice for dinner tonight sounds yummy!! Yup my life over the past week or so has been pretty boring too, busy but boring if that makes any sense LOL.

@LSlycord - Uggh sorry to hear that you need a new modem! Surprised to hear that you are giving your two weeks notice, but you are right, life is way to short to stay in a job you do not enjoy! I know you will do what makes you most happy! Good luck with taking in Decker!! I hope he behaves and gets along well with your two girls!! You must have had a pretty bad storm to fry your modem!! Do you have a serge protector for it?? Hope the storms have subsided for you! Thinking of you as I am sure you are missing your daughter so much already!! Sending you hugs!!

@Betty Jo - so glad to hear that the vertigo is better! I have only had it twice in my life and sure hope I never have it again. Both times that Epley maneuver worked for mine, but man it really sucks to have Vertigo!! Hope that you will be able to get back to scrapping soon, I just love your layouts!!

@tanteva - Sounds like some crazy laws in your country for working! I hope that you are ok with the hours that you will get and that you like the job that you have, thats the most important part isn't it??

@bcgal00 - Welcome back Happy Traveller!!! Sounds like your trip was Amazing!! Oh my goodness that went by fast though!! I bet the dogs were so happy to have their Momma back with them! Isn't that wonderful that your daughter has been offered a job doing what she loves to do! I sure hope it works out for her! Hopefully you were not exposed to Covid on your trip and I am keeping my fingers crossed that you all stay healthy and Covid free!! My DH was pretty sick with it when we got home, most likely picked it up either in one of the airports or on the plane. We were always masked, except while eating and I am not sure how come he got it and I did not?? I loved seeing your updates on Facebook, it really looked like a wonderful trip!!

Ok I better get another coffee before Heather and boys call. I am sure Mason will want to tell me all about the sleepover he had with his best bud!! CYL!

Back to rain off and on today... and the rest of the week. I did manage to get the laundry done over the weekend. Other than making a few LOs, I have kicked back and relaxed. Tomorrow morning is the primary care doctors appt so am hoping that the rain will hold off until later in the day. Yes, gals.... I had thought of anemia... but as the coldness comes and goes during the same day, don't think that is the problem. Will fast before the appt so we can get the blood work done the same day. We are back to cool in the morning (64*) and hot in the afternoon (84*) and I am cold in the afternoons until evenings then back to warm/hot. I will be dropping off the library books and a couple of bills at the Post Office while I am out tomorrow since they are on the way to the doctor's office. Yesterday I picked more plums off the tree.... and took a big bag of them to the next door neighbor. The tree is still loaded but trying to let the plums ripen more.... only picking the ones that fall into my hand when I check them. But, know that some will fall off during the wind/rain storms this week.

@taxed4ever So glad your DH is now testing negative and can go back to work. Wow... you got a lot done since you got back. So nice that you got to visit with the in-laws. How neat that you may get a renter for the suite... she sounds ideal.

@bcgal00 Welcome home.... love the photos I saw on FB but am sure you have lots to make pages with... can't wait to see them all. How wonderful that Jen may get that part-time job with the groomer. Know the fur-babies are glad to have you back home.

Gotta go... DD is calling.

Good afternoon lovelies.

I just got a chance to hop on here and I decided that I'm going to spend some time in my gardens. It's pretty cool and it's a perfect day for working. We're expecting rain later today, so I'd better get cracking. Adrienne came down for quite awhile and then we went outside to look at all of my flowers and how huge some of them are getting. I think I'm going to plant more grasses at the end of the driveway for some texture out there. Mine have grown SO much - they're huge now. I started with twos small containers and now they're covering the front window. I have to trim them way back this fall.

I'll try to check back in later on - if anybody needs me call 1-800-garden2 BWAHAHA

Chris, good news about your ACDC. Keeping my fingers crossed and sending rain vibes. It's raining off and on here today. I decided that tomorrow is another day. When Adrienne was here, it wasn't looking too bad, but shortly after I quit, the cat came in wet. Poor kitty. He's such a silly boy - he always comes and shakes his head, when he's wet or cold like "BRRRRRRR". Hahaha

We're super proud of Braden - and he's a good kid besides. He's so humble - that's the best part. You'd never know he's done all the things he's done. He always just chuckles when I make over his accomplishments. His dad is a member of Mensa - and one of the most sought-after critical care animal surgeons, who lectures around the country in addition to maintaining a practice. I guess he got a good combination of genes. His dad has no personality, however - Braden does, thankfully. Hahaha

Yes, girls, it must have been pretty cool to go on an art buying spree! @Betty Jo when I asked him, like I told Chris, he just chuckled and said "it was pretty cool". Pretty cool???? PLEASE!!! He told me, when he was just a little thing, that when he grew up, he was going to make a lot of money. LOL I guess he meant it.

Awwwww, Linda, sounds like you're doing the right thing. Sometimes, it's just worth it. Finding good jobs is so fickle - especially in these times. At least, there are still some work-from-home opportunities. I don't think I could handle going into some workplace anymore - they'd have to pay me a ton of money.
