And we are back to Monday! Gary and I kept confusing ourselves and each other yesterday. We could not figure out if it was Saturday or Sunday. Part of me was confused about what month it was. It sure did not feel like mid-August, it was freezing. I made broccoli cheddar soup and homemade biscuits for dinner and it didn't feel odd at all.

It rained almost the entire day and finally stopped a bit around dinner time. I was glad of that since the kids were having their other friends over to hang out by the firepit. Aside from food shopping and cooking, I didn't do much else. I did clean out the fridge and there wasn't all that much that had to get tossed. Some pickles that had been shoved to the back for a while and yogurt that no one eats. Caitlyn found out that a lot of yogurt is made with gelatin. Who would think? :noidea:

I am off to get the food order this morning and then I am going to spend the day outside. It is going to be perfect- sunny and 80*

Gratitudes:
-the weather!
-that the kids had friends over and I love hearing them laugh
-my mom is sounding so much better

Wishing everyone a fab day!

Kay- good to see you and a relief to hear that your family situation is stable. I hope that it improves and gets back to where it should be. I am happy that your BP is sticking where it needs to be as well. Enjoy your errands! That sounds crazy, but I mean it. When I was driving back from Arlene's, it was was weird that I wasn;t stopping anywhere on the way home. Since everything is a distance from me, I normally try to double up. One day it will be good to shop in person again.
I think the lattices would be pretty and economical. I hope that your handyman gives you a reasonable price.
ha! If you only knew how lazy I am. My kitchen it tiny. (sad to admit, my BFF shared photos on FB of her DS's college apt and his kitchen is bigger and nicer than mine and by *a lot!*) It shouldn't take that much effort to clean LOL

Nancy- OMG it was horrible yesterday, soooooo cold. I am not ready for that either. You and Luther should have a perfect day to be out and about today. You and your DH have raised good sons. How far of a drive did DS have? So sweet of him to let you know where he is. I am happy that my kids do that too. One less thing to stress about.
When I met Gary, I still had all 4 of my g-parents. My kids also see how lucky they are that they have that too. I bet your DS is very happy to be around such a big family, even if it takes getting used to. Have fun with the games today!

Morning ladies... I have been away from here for most of the weekend! DH and I had another fun weekend with the Cowichan Valley Wine Festival! We had reservations for the ones we visited and oh my they were both so pretty! Good wine and we learned a lot about how they grow the grapes here in the Valley! One vineyard we had not been to for many, many years and you should see the beautiful new building that they now have for their tastings! Blue Grouse vineyard is the second oldest vineyard here and they make amazing wine that is sold all over the world. Looked like they do pretty well because they have sure spent a lot of $$ sprucing up the place LOL. Here is a link to the Festival website in case any of you are interested... https://www.tourismcowichan.com/cowichan-valley-wine-festival/. The other vineyard also makes award winning balsamic vinegars, we got to sample a few of those too and they are amazing!! Sadly they are also way out of my price range!! Today I will be going to MIL and FIL's to deliver a few things to them and go for what may be the last swim of the summer :mmph: Today is our last really warm day and the temps have been really high over this past weekend and it looks like they will be much cooler over the next few days. We had a good thunder storm here last night, with lots of lightning which is very unusual for here, but it did make it a bit cooler for sleeping last night. Anyway I will pack a lunch for myself to have at the In-Laws and it will be nice to have a little visit with them. I will see if SIL wants to meet me there and spend some time together. She is immune compromised so she will travel in a separate vehicle and we will all social distance visit in the sunshine. She has been keeping her bubble very small and I think that she must be feeling pretty lonely!

Chris - Yikes its hard to believe that it could be so cold there all of a sudden!! I am glad that the temps are much better for you today! Your dinner sounded delicious and perfect for the cold day that you had! Nice to hear that the kids are enjoying the fire pit and each other's company! It must warm your heart to hear them having such a good time together! Hope you got everything that you needed from your online shopping! My last order they were not able to get me the sugar free JellO I wanted and I haven't been able to get it anywhere, who knew there would be a shortage of JellO?? :noidea: Enjoy being outside in the perfect summer weather today!

Jean - I hope your Zoom meeting went well and there were no hiccups! Sure hope that the temps are not too warm for you!

Kay - Glad to hear that the family situation is calm right now and that your BP is back to normal! The idea of lattice on your back patio sounds like a great one! Always nice to have shade to escape too, should help to keep the house cooler also! Thanks for the nice compliment on my page! My layouts are few and far between these days, seems like I am busier this month than ever, so strange! Yes the sunsets have been amazing here lately and now after all the lightning last night I sure hope that there were not any forest fires started!! Hope you are getting more cooling breezes today!

Nancy - wow what a change in your weather! It is sad that the days are getting shorter and shorter, summer seems to fly by doesn't it? How nice that your Son is keeping you the know about where he is!! He is a great guy! Yes it is very nice to come from a large family, but then sometimes its not LOL. We all have our family drama thats for sure, but for the most part its pretty cool to have all your grandparents and lots of cousins!! Sure wish our kids could be closer so we could spoil them all much more! Hope you are enjoying more hockey today and that your temps are warmer so you won't need to wear a fleece today!

Ok I better get things done around the house and get my lunch packed. SIL Linda said she will meet me at the In-Laws after lunch so that is good! Have an amazing day everyone!

Yesterday sort of disappeared. It started with an email from one of the genealogy sites I subscribe to with a link to a possibly matching gravestone record at a place called BillionGraves. It was for a relative in DH's family, the line about which I do the newsletter. It confirmed what I knew about her death, but below it were photos of four "nearby" stones (I think mausoleum for cremains really). One looked like it could be her husband whose name I did not know. So I started in to research. Yup, it was him. But they married in their 50s and I found an earlier husband for her too. Still missing records for her, but it's a lot more complete now. But it's also looking like I was correct that she never had children the same as her siblings. That took lots of the day plus our Sunday afternoon popcorn and in the evening dinner with hockey.

Today it isn't that cold but I'm freezing as I was for a while yesterday. DH had H&S this am but there were only 7 of them. Still nice. Saturday my Zoom session seemed to go well but it's a little weird being the leader, not the same as in person. Still, I know one person learned two new things about her program that are good for her to use.

Chris, hope you are warm and outside! That dinner sounds perfect. I worry about the kids gathering, but I'm sure yours are properly careful. Next door there was a gathering on the front porch that I'm not sure was. Hope you got everything from the grocery.

Trudy, what a delightful time with the wine tasting. I'm sure you're having a good day now while it's still warm and visiting with the ILs.

Nancy, know you're liking all the hockey, and the Blackhawks didn't even get eliminated.

Kay, good to learn everything is stable for now, especially the BP. Hope you have a good trip for the errands and other stuff.

Cheryl, how close is the move? Hope the packing is in good shape.

Felis, how's the weather now? Seems there's lots of change in the air now.

It can't really be mid-August, can it? And yet I'm starting to feel like October.
Have a good one!

good day! It is gorgeous. Low humidity and blue skies and temps in the 80s. And tomorrow and Wed should be the same. Yea! The window are open and it makes me so happy. Got in a good walk a little over 2 miles and that makes me happy too! Yes I am enjoying hockey. Yesterday 3 games went to OT. I did not stay up to see the last one even I must sleep. LOL

Chris you dinner sounds delish. I made grilled cheese and I should have made tomato soup. Yes it good the rain finally stopped in the evening. I bet the fire pit was great. Thank goodness it was only one day of freezing. Have fun outside!

Trudy your wine festival seems perfect for you and your MG. Have fun swimming. Seems hard to admit that it is now time for the weather to cool. Don't like that it all.

Hello Cheery-0's!! Thought I'd better check in before you all thought I "fell in".

Hope you're all doing well.

Jean, the movers are coming on the 28th! Yikes! Our packing helpers are coming this Friday. They're mainly going to pack up the kitchen and all of our big pictures and the breakables!

We're slow but sure with the packing. Trying to get a little done each day. I have all of my craft stuff packed - I never let anybody help me with that! i want to know where everything is! Everything is off the walls upstairs - it's starting to look pretty bare.

This will be our last weekend to sleep here. During the two days the movers will be here, Daisy and I will be at the Embassy Suites - to get her out of the way and me too. TeeHee. DH will stay here to supervise the movers.

It will take them about 4 days to make the trip from Florida to Oklahoma. We'll probably get there first, so will have to stay in a hotel there for one or two nights.

I'm exhausting myself just writing this. :frusty::frusty:
