You can do it!

Good morning and happy Monday to everyone. How are you all feeling after enjoying all of that holiday food? And Peeps? Sorry Cheryl, I can't call Peeps "food," bwahaha!

Breakfast was good, my parents seemed to be in good spirits. I wasn't sure how it was going to go since my brother had called me earlier to tell me how he thinks my mom is getting confused and forgetful and to keep an eye open. Great. But I thought she was fine, typical Mom. Sure- confused and forgetful but no different than as far as I can remember. My dad was typical too. His shoulder needs to be replaced (the other was done 2 years ago) and he swears no more surgeries for him. Then he tells me that raking/yard work really aggravates it. Me ~> :rollingpin1: WTH, Dad?? I love that kind of stuff-- bribe me with a bottle of wine and I'll work from sunup to sundown out there. My mom and I have tentative plans on Friday and I am going to do my best to get down there and help them. Whether they like it or not.
Grrrrrr.

Caitlyn and Tom left to do some wedding idea window shopping and then go out to eat. Since we are not religious it didn't occur to anyone that stores would be closed. When they came back home an hour later, I needed to cook dinner. I made a Mongolian "beef" (made with seitan) recipe and Gary, Tom, and I all thought it tasted quite good. Caitlyn didn't like the texture so I am going to have to see what's the best way to get seitan crispy. It was my first time cooking it so I have no idea. Does anyone here cook seitan? (I only found out what it was recently. It is made from washed wheat gluten and then formed into logs or strips. Other than that, I am 100% newbie)

The weather is supposed to be *glorious* this week, 70-80s. :dance2: Gary wants to keep walking with the dogs so we'll have to make sure we head out before it gets too hot for him. The heat always makes his blood sugar wonky. Other than that, I have lots more yard work to do, yay!

Have a wonderful day, my friends!

Good morning. It's cool and cloudy here this morning. Only going to 72° today and won't need the air conditioner until Saturday with weekend temps of 86°. I won't complain about that!

Syd heads back to school this morning. She says she hates to go back...she is obviously ready to move on to the next adventure.

@faerywings I'm so glad that you had a good time with your parents. I hope that you get a chance to get over there and help with some yard work. And so glad to hear that Gary feels like continuing to walk with you! It sounds like Monday is off to a good start.

I'm off to the office! (That 30 second commute is such a hardship!)

@bcgal00 I love the countdown!! ♥♥♥♥♥ Five hearts for 5 days. Have you decided what camera(s) besides your phone you are bringing on the cruise?
Your naturalist group sounds like they are welcoming and informative. Love it!
Jen cooked up a storm, hope you had a nice dinner together. Is she looking fwd to having time to herself or is she going to miss you and D a lot? Probably both, I know that is how I would be.

@Cherylndesigns Hahaha, you kook! Your Peeps avi is going to get some people up in arms. You cracked me up with your ninja swords in the Peeps thread.
I can't tell you how many times I have bought capris as regular-length jeans. LOL!
Yep, we watch TV every evening, we each sit on the ends of the sofa and Daisy and/or any other dogs that might be here, lay in between us.
*nods* same here! And Gary inevitably falls asleep and I have to poke him to make him fast fwd through the commercials ;)

@Lynn Grieveson I hope by Tuesday you won't be in any pain (that's today for you, isn't it?) but I don't blame you at all for holding out so it would be free.
Eeep- sorry about the Password Manager being so difficult. Can't live with them, can't live without them. Just like men. :giggle4:
Good luck keeping it all straight...

Most of us here are on the shorter side... who here is tall? I know everyone is basically taller than me... but actually tall? Say, over 5'8"?

@Nonni F That makes me happy to hear, that you had nice weather and lots of fresh air. And wine to make it allll the better!

@LSlycord You must have had a wonderful weekend with the family ♥ You sound so much like my BFF and me, thinking about the "last times." We try to tell each other to not focus on the last times so much that we are not present in the "current time." Way easier said than done, as I am sure you know. *nods*
I hope you got some pictures of the exhibit. I saw recently there is a Monet one coming around this year, IIRC.
I think it has to be harder for Shaun with Syd being so focused. It was that way for Scott at first. But they have you and Brian, and each other- having support for and by the people you love is half the battle.

@vickyday I am so sorry, you and Mark must really be feeling poorly if you weren't able to make it to church. :(
Were you able to watch a service on a live stream? My dad did that every week when he wasn't able to go to church during Covid and I know it made him feel better about missing Mass.
Oh, I just scrolled down and I see that you did! I am happy about that :heartpumpred:

Linda- how odd that we are supposed to hit 86* on Friday, the same as you?
Safe trip to Syd. xo

I forgot MeMeMonday.
My MMM is to get outside and soak up the sunshine!! How about everyone else, what will you do for *yourself* even if it is simply to close your eyes and breathe quietly for 5 minutes?

Good afternoon all.

Well, we ended up having a houseful last night (at Adrienne's). Tom (Roger's handyman who lived on the property, then went back to NY) is in town for a few days, so he was there. Another couple had been invited by Roger (Adrienne didn't know) AND they brought a friend who was in town visiting them. Roger's youngest son and his GF were there, so we had a small mob. Adrienne was panicked over the food "situation", but everybody brought food and we had tons of it! I felt a little sorry for the "friend" who got dragged along - he kind of hung by me because I took some time to talk to him. I know he thought we were CRAZY and we ARE. Chris @faerywings you know what we're like when we get together. Nothing is off-topic either. I looked at him during dinner and said "we're a lot to take". He finally started to loosen up a bit. I always feel a bit sorry for the "newcomers". I'm pretty sure the "couple" of beers he drank helped, too. :pillowfight::drinks2:

Chris @faerywings I've had so much fun with that Peeps thread. I was laughing so hard last night - especially after you put the sword fighter on there - I HAD to come back with some more. I loved the sword in her mouth. We're cray, cray, aren't we? I even changed my avi to Peeps. :rotfl:

Glad things went well with your paents. I know it's always a surprise especially if they don't pick at each other. Oh, about the pants length - isn't that a hoot? For us shorter people - they hit right at the top of my shoes. I knew they would, they definitely weren't crop pants on me. Chuck doesn't like frayed, ripped clothes and these have some rips in the legs, too. He always says "I hope you got those half off". Then, last night when I walked in to dinner, Roger said the same thing. They're two peas in a pod.

Linda @LSlycord hope you had a wonderful day and lots to eat. Yes, I ate a lot - I even brought mashed potatoes home and had another bowl of them later - I never do that, but hey, I gave myself permission. You really need to try Try Before You Buy. You have five days to try something after it's delivered. If you like it, just keep it, otherwise, send it back.

Girls, thank you ALL for worrying about Roger with me. He looked so much better last night and he LOVES seeing a bunch of family and friends sitting around their big table. He was loving it last night.

@Cherylndesigns glad to hear that Roger is really and truly feeling better. And I'm glad that there was enough to eat...I've been Adrienne many times. My nieces and nephew were always bringing unexpected people to our house for holiday dinners...and they were always teens so they liked to eat. But, I always cook more than I need...so it worked out fine every time. LOL Some of my best memories.

I have been Adrienne too, Linda. You have to be flexible, right? We always cooked more than we needed and always had enough for "extras". When we first moved to Florida, we had perpetual "open house". Steph had many friends who didn't have any place else to go - their families lived "up north" or wherever.

I just talked to two of the guys who used to spend lots of Sunday dinners and other fun times at our house. They haven't ever forgotten those times. The first hurricane that was coming, after we moved, was very traumatic. All of the kids came over and helped Chuck "board up the windows". We didn't have the automatic window coverings back in those days and the guys all went to Lowes and bought plywood. The hurricane missed us, but did we ever have a great time - ahhhhhhh memories.

Never heard of seitan! Gonna look it up. Glad you had a good meal with your parents on Easter.

Good Evening,
I had a really rough night last night. After taking the 3rd antibiotic pill, I got sick and was in the bathroom. Couldn't sleep. My skin was crawling or tingling or something all night long. I was nauseous all night.....kept swallowing to keep from up-chucking! I probably would have felt better sooner if I had just let it go! But, that's not me! I fight it with everything I've got! I called the doctor and he prescribed a new antibiotic for me. I will begin it at 12:30 a.m. and I take one every 6 hours for 7 days. So, it must not be as strong as the one originally prescribed at 2 pills a day for only 3 days.

Mark was off today, so I went back to bed for awhile since I didn't sleep last night and got up around noon. Mark just chilled on the couch in front of the TV.

Mark fixed his own meals today. I finally ate some oats around 6 and then a few tater tots. I did not make it to the store today. Mark went to pick up the new script for me. I've mainly been in my recliner all afternoon and evening.

I'm going to have to train myself all over again with the daily dishes and bed making. Being sick has set those tasks aside as unnecessary, lol!

Wish me well with the new script!

Today flew by and I just realized I never got a chance to pop in to say hi. I was puttering around the house, did some organizing for the trip and then took the dogs to the (frozen) lake. A 15 min drive away and it was a totally different climate. It was colder and there was a lot of snow on the ground. The lakes were frozen. The dogs loved playing in the snow. Tomorrow we'll go get the final paperwork from the travel agent. The rest of the week is going to go by quickly.
