Happy(ish) Saturday. I am feeling extremely blah and 100% unmotivated. Yesterday was rough. And exhausting. This morning, also not so great. I was in that zone of not being asleep nor awake but sort of dreaming, YKWIM? Or I guess it is asleep if I am dreaming but it doesn't feel that way. I kept thinking that Tat was alive and I was checking in on her and she was getting better.

Gary drove me up to Shop Rite and while I was waiting got pick up the groceries, Caitlyn called him to say that she had died. It was really hard because I wanted to get home and hug her but I needed to wipe down the groceries/shower before I would feel comfortable to go up to her. We had a little ceremony in the yard which was a mix of funny and sad. Tat was the Trash Rat- she was obsessed with Caitlyn's garbage can and would drag out food wrappers every chance she had. There was a candy wrapper that had been stuck under a broken tree branch for weeks that I had been ignoring so it was a perfect item to leave on top of her box. ;)
We had Scott and Leah's celebration dinner which was a good break from the rest of the day then watched the latest episode of What We Do in The Shadows, which was very funny.

Nothing happening today. It is rainy so no working outside. Not in the mood to do anything inside either.
I should clean here. Or not. heh.

Thank you all for thinking good thoughts! Caitlyn was very happy to know that you were. She loves you guys too!

xoxo

Sharon- what fantastic news about your grandson!!!! I really needed to hear that today. It sounds like he is getting bigger and stronger every day. Yay!!!

Nancy- I am drooling over here. All of that bread! I am LMBO off that bread is in your gratitudes. We don't have a bakery in my town (along with many other things) and I should be happy that there isn't or I would be there every day and be ginormous. LOL
Are you going to try to get out Sun or Mon for anything Memorial Day related?
My mom's cardiologist gave her approval to go to my brother's this weekend for a BBQ as long as they wear masks and stay outside and 6' apart. She can't wait!

Trudy- did you have "fun" online shopping and then painting? I got a good score for Scott and Gary yesterday. Corona beer was on sale and I was able to add it to the shopping cart and left a note saying if that brand was not available, Modelo was good. (and that the household is 21+ )If you search for beer or Modelo it doesn't show up so I wasn't sure if I was going to get it. But there is was, a 12-pack of Modelo under the cart.
I wasn't able to get hand soap or fake meatballs for Cait but we did get beer. (priorities)

Kay- Glad that you and your Dr were able to get your meds and symptoms all worked out. I hope that when you start the new one the cough will go away.
Gary's hands are like that too, cracked and red and itchy. Mine are dry and it doesn't help that I chew my nails and cuticles when I am stressed. I hope that the new hand soap does the trick.
have a great visit with your DD and the great-grands! It really stinks that the time that they have been here has been during the lockdown :(

Thank you all again for the good thoughts and hugs. xoxo

good morning - Chris sorry about Tat. Give hugs to Cait.

My son brought me home 3 cases of diet Dr. Pepper. He knows his mom. So I gave him the bear claw pull aparts for him to take to breakfast with his MG and her kids. He already sent me photo showing it all gone. It was only half but so glad that they ate it and not me. Too much would be bad LOL. My DH has already take Luther out as it was not raining early. I am hoping it goes away soon. We have no plans for Memorial Day celebrations which is sad as our town has its big parade with all the school bands and police and fire trucks and lots of kids. I miss it. We had been to 90% of the parades since we moved to our town. This is first that was canceled though some were due to bad bad weather. I am thinking a higher power has figured out that beaches and social distancing and masks might be hard for people so gave us a really bad beach weather weekend. But next week we should get sun and temps in the 70s and 80s. I cant wait.

Chris hope that this weekend gets better. Glad your mom and dad can go to your brothers. I bet she is happy! That is fun that you were able to get beer!

Trudy hope you are getting the kitchen finished this weekend. Have fun with the FaceTime.

Kay that is great that your doctor can make changes. I too had to go through changes with my meds.

Have a great day.

Good morning everyone! It is cloudy and grey here today, but so far no rain. I got my groceries ordered late yesterday afternoon. I have a pick up time of between 10am-12 to get them so it will be good to not have to wander around the store today! A few things have started to open up around here as we have no cases and haven't had for weeks now. So I saw that Winners had opened up and I was in desperate need of wine glasses LOL. Two days ago I broke two of them, they were on the side counter and I had just finished boiling the kettle, well I managed to brush my hand against the hot kettle and my hand went flying back and yup I knocked both glasses off the counter onto the floor. :hurt: I was down to one wine glass!!! I have broken many over the past few weeks, hmmm I am thinking maybe I drink too much LOL. Or maybe I am just a big klutz?? Anyway I stood in the line up 6 ft apart on the designated spots and got into the store likity split. In and out in about 5 mins and scored on a set of wine glasses for only $4!! Grabbed a couple of sleeveless tops that caught my eye and I was outta there! :bolt: Came home put another coat of paint on two cupboard doors and then spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning under the sink. It looks brand new again and now is nicely organized too. :becky: Today will be spent doing more painting and I should get out and see if the gardens need some weeding too. Would love to get out for a bit of a hike with DH this weekend, we will see what the weather does I guess.

Chris - I am so sorry again for the loss of your little trash rat! I think that the ceremony was good and probably healing for everyone! I hope that you can find something that lifts your spirits today! Isn't it the worst feeling when you wish you could give your daughter a hug but can't be there!! IKWYM!! Sending you lots of healing thoughts and gentle hugs today

Nancy - Well wasn't that the nicest thing for your son to do for you!! I bet he was very happy to get the bear claws as a reward too!!LOL. It is so nice to hear you talk about how happy he is with his new love and her kids!! How wonderful! Sorry that you will be missing your parade today, but probably it is for the best. I truly believe that we will be going through another wave of this dam virus and will be dealing with it until there is a vaccine for it! As for my kitchen getting done this weekend... well I doubt it as I have a really big kitchen with lots of cupboards and a big Island too. We will get a few more done this weekend, but I am thinking that by the end of next week it should be completed. Then I have to convince DH that we will need new backsplash LOL. Hope your rain stops and you can get outside for a nice walk with Luther this afternoon!

Kay - Hope that the new liquid soap clears up your poor itchy hands! There must have been something very nasty in the ingredients to do that to your hands!! Sad that you will have to say good-bye to your DD#1. and no hugs  Glad for her that the house sale went smoothly though! Hope that the new meds that you pick up on Tuesday will lessen the coughing for you! Yes the new Mini O's are amazing again, hope to get something done with them soon!

Hi to Jean and Felis!! I hope that you are both well and having a lovely weekend!

Ok time to get into the shower and then get the next set of cupboard doors sanded and primed. Then off to the store to pick up my order. Have a great weekend everyone!

Morning, all. Should have popped in here earlier as I was awake and up at 3:45AM... coughing my head off... again! Can't wait until I get the new meds next Tuesday ! ! ! ! It will take several days before the cough subsides and maybe a week or more before it goes away completely as the lungs have to get rid of the build-up.

DD#1 and the great-granddaughters came over and we had a nice visit... while keeping social distancing. DD#1 isn't moving away yet... might be another 9 months or so before that happens. She is in a rental less than a mile from me. I haven't been over to see it yet as I am staying in mostly. She will be taking the great-grands back home the end of the month. They have grown so much since last November. Glad I got a chance to see and talk to them... but no hugs...<<< sigh >>>

Memorial weekend is always a sad time for me as I remember my hubby {retired Navy Vet} and miss him so much. Hubby's brother died in Vietnam and his name on is on the Wall.

I did get a couple more Mini Os LOs done.

Got to go get a bite to eat and maybe take a nap.

Thinking of you all this holiday weekend.

It is a sunny Sunday! Hopefully, that will help everyone's moods and energy levels today. Yesterday was such a crummy day. I ended cleaning and dusting the kitchen, scrubbing the stove although I gave up before I mopped the floor. I will need to do that today but I am not sure why I bother, Scott and Gary (Gary mostly!!) spill coffee on it within an hour of me mopping.
Cait and I had the rats out a lot yesterday. They had been neglected while our focus had been on Tat. The one thing I will miss about her the most is that she was 100% scoopable and snuggle-able. She would stay in your arms or on your shoulder for a long time. The babies-- forget it-- they never stop moving and will literally fling themselves off of you to get to the floor. Livvie is the same but to a lesser extent. Dilly is the most snuggle-able of the rest but even she has her limits!
After their spays, the babies *might* slow down a bit but even taking Evie down by 1000%, might not make much of a difference.

Today we are having Alien Night. Cait isn't sure that she wants to watch Avatar but we don't know what else we might have that is Alien related. We have the menu planned. I am making Alien Deviled Eggs-- before you peel the eggs, you crack the shells a bit and soak them in water with food coloring. We are doing UFO quesadillas and "Mars-ipan Brownies.

In between the cooking and prep, I might try to get outside a bit, if it isn't too soggy after all of the rain from yesterday.

My Gratitudes:
- chilling out with the rats and snuggling with my dogs
- the closeness of my family and how supportive we are
- sunshine

Nancy- I will def. give Cait that hug, TY!! It sounds like a good trade between you and DS and how awesome to get you so much Dr. Pepper. he knows his mom!
It will be weird to not have parades this weekend. I think this is the first time my dad has "missed" his Fire Dept parade although I think they are still doing a small wreath-laying ceremony.
If the temps get that warm next week, I need to get into the attic and find my spring and summer clothes! I am still wearing sweatshirts and fuzzy socks. LOL

Trudy- I am still in awe how fast you get your Shop from Home orders filled so quickly. My town's ShopRite still has no open spots over a week out. The one I have been going to in NY has some for Friday of next week at the earliest. I can wait until next Monday or Tuesday to pick up so I am going to have to start stalking the reservation page soon. (never seems to end!)
How awesome to get a great deal on the wine glasses and at such a fab price! You aren't a klutz so maybe you are drinking too much wine? :eyebrows:
Your kitchen must look amazing!!
Hope that the weather is perfect for you to hike a bit.

Kay- ugh, so sorry to hear that the coughing is waking you up so early. It is so weird that the meds will do that but not surprising at the same time. Your visit with the "girls" sounds very happy!Thinking of you and your sweet DH this Memorial Day weekend.

xoxo

Good Morning everyone! It is a rainy Sunday here :rain: I am up early and DH is still sound asleep, so it is very quiet here. We got a lot of painting done yesterday and soon will be able to start on the uppers. I think that the Island will be the last thing that I will tackle and I am still wondering if maybe I should do it in a different colour?? Having a hard time getting DH to be on board with that though. I just think that perhaps it might be a bit too much white? What do you guys think? But maybe if we got a new back splash that had some colour to it that would be nice too and then the Island could be painted white? I just don't know :noidea: I will have to check out Pinterest for some ideas. That could take up a major part of my morning LOL. Yesterday we were invited to attend a social distance Birthday Party for the little girl next door. She will be 6 and it is sad that she can't have a nice Birthday Party with all of her friends, so they have decided to a sort of block party with people in the neighbourhood. They are even having an ice cream truck come, how fun!! So I guess I had better get a card made and perhaps find something in the way of a gift to give to her. Today we will be doing more of the same as yesterday, painting and cleaning the inside of the cupboards. I have to say that all of my spring cleaning is getting done because of this re-do! My cupboards haven't been this clean in years! I have been chucking out a bunch of stuff that has been hiding in the back of my cupboards, I have no idea why I was hanging on to most of it! So lots more more and much more organized now!

Chris - Yes I am very happy with the online shopping now, however I did not get a couple of items that I was looking for. Nothing major, just a couple of things that were on sale that they had run out of. We did not get out for a hike darn it :mmph: there was just too many things to do here at home. DH did manage to get the front lawn cut and I got some weeding done, but by the time we finished it was almost supper time and I had to get something started to eat. Perhaps if it clears up enough today will will manage to get out for that hike. We will see what the day brings I guess. I hope your Alien night is fun and it brightens everyones mood! Good trick with the eggs, they should look awesome! I think that maybe you are right and there might be too much wine drinking going on in this house LOL.

Kay - The coughing must be driving you nuts! I sure hope that it settles down quickly when you get you new meds! Love that you had a great visit with the girls and hope that you are not feeling too sad during this holiday weekend! Your hubby sounds like he was an amazing man

Ok DH is finally out of bed, so I will get some fresh coffee going. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Had a better night's sleep last night... only woke up once with the coughing... and managed to sleep from 9:30PM until after 8AM this morning. Guess my body was exhausted and needed the rest. Feeling much better this morning.

Yesterday afternoon, I decided that I couldn't stand not having my bangs anymore. Looked in the mirror and brushed them down like I usually wear them and they reached down past my lips!!! Plus the ends were split and looked horrible. So out came the scissors and comb. I used to keep them trimmed in between haircuts so wasn't a big deal to cut them. Just never had them this long is years! Of course since they were so long, I had to comb the right side of them over so I could see to cut the left side...then cut the right side to match. Feel more like my self now. The rest of the hair can wait to be cut until it is safe to go to the salon.

The temperatures are heading back up again. Will be back into the 90's so I will be staying inside. Keep meaning to get out early before the temps are up and pull some of the weeds and respray the smaller one. But will my broken sleep - haven't had the energy to get moving early in the day.

Trudy, guess I am like your hubby... I think that white on the island is the way to go. Are you going to do the upper cabinets in white also?? That is a huge job.... DH and I did our CA kitchen and it took forever to get them all done. You can add color either in the back-splash or with decorative items.

Chris, so sorry it takes so long to get a spot on the on-line grocery delivery/date. Guess that is due to the limited stores you have to shop at and so many wanting to do that. You have me LOL over your creative alien foods and games. Great way to give some fun while still staying home.

Somehow the morning slipped away and I forgot to have breakfast... now it is noontime. Getting hard to figure out what I want to eat lately even though I have plenty of food. Just hate only cooking for one. Noticed that the last 3 bananas are too ripe so may make some banana bread... that sounds yummy. Might as well make some meat loaf if I am going to heat up the oven.

good late afternoon - well the weather here has turned mostly sunny but still cool with temps in the 60s. But the sun makes everything so much better. Went on a nice walk with Luther and DH. My DH was up early and make a great dinner a beans, ham and veggies dish. Love the smell as it simmers. Now he is out cutting the lawn. A good husband. Me I have read 4 books. The do not require deep thinking but they have been fun. Two with Navajo detectives (Tony Hillerman) and two with Joe Pickett a Fish and Game warden in Wyoming. I love reading stories set in the West.

Chris hope today goes better. Enjoy your time with the rats. Have a fab night with the Aliens! Sounds so fun!

Trudy I think however you do your kitchen it will look great. I do like Kay idea of all white with color from other things. That is great that you can get the online shopping done so fast. I want an ice cream truck to come on my birthday.

Kay wow the temps are really climbing! Glad you got some sleep. And how great you got to meet up with DD and grands. I know how you feel on Memorial day weekend. My son was a Marine ( though Marines are always Marines even when not active duty) and those years he was away were hard. Thanks to your DH for his service and his brother's. That Wall is so impressive.

Gratitudes
