Who was complaining about the cool, rainy weather this past week?
Not me... *shakes head firmly*
We are heading into typical NJ summer weather today (looks like it is only for today, maybe) HHH. Right now it is 65* and 100% humidity. This afternoon will reach 80* and the humidity will [airquotes] drop to 60%. Hazy, hot, and humid! :nod1:
Just an FYI--I am not actually complaining about this weather, this is much better than the cold.

How was your Friday? Mine felt like it was Saturday because Caitlyn is on summer hours and is off on Fridays. Threw me off all day. I got a lot done. I think I am mostly ready for the upcoming week. I have a few loose ends to deal with -- mostly revolving around dinners/grocery shopping-- but work is pretty much under control.
Anne (Weis director) called to tell me that the Prek Camp went live and she already has 2 kids signed up :D dance3 The age range is 4-6, but a mom wanted to know if her older daughter (7) could be signed up with the 5 yo. Works for me!
Today is the Map and Compass class which runs 9-5. My poor brain is going to be overloaded, there are so many numbers on maps. Latitudes, elevations, and coordinates. I really don't like numbers, they have no meaning in my mind. Who knows, maybe this will kickstart a long-lost connection in my neural networks and numbers will finally make sense. (Don't laugh, it is possible :D )

Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing day.

The little one we have is finally drinking the nectar! I'll need to change it tomorrow.
Thank you for the mental nudge!
*scribbling on my to-do list*
I have to make more nectar and fill the feeders before we go to PA.
Glad that you had a good experience with the health evaluation.

@AK_Tracy What did you end up doing yesterday? Since it was yucky weather, did you stay inside and scrap?
I took breaks all day yesterday. And a bunch of the work I was doing was done on my butt. :)

I did get the Art Journaling Week 3 LOs uploaded this morning. Need to put my thinking cap on about the June challenge I will be hosting soon. My sister will be here either next week or the week after... plus DD#1 will be back probably the last week of May and into the 1st and 2nd week of June.
I am loving your phoenix LOs, they are just stunning!
Did you come up with your June Challenge? I admire you for planning ahead, I seem to let all of my prep time slip through my fingers.

@Terri M I am thinking of your DD, everything went well with the surgery?
Ugh about the dishwasher. That is one appliance I refuse to go without. I'd rather be w/o a stove than da dishwasher. Every time ours broke down, guess who ended up doing 90% of the dishes? :/

4 glorious hours to myself!! EXCEPT! Mark decided to come home early today - the pest guy was coming, and like Vicky said, you never know who's going to show up, so Mark was here for that. Now Mark is taking a nap, then he's taking Belle's car in for servicing. So I still get 2 or 3 hours alone after all. I'm going to scrap a page tonight, I have an idea for Vicky's AJ challenge, so we'll see if it comes to be!
Wooooo hoooo!! Love that you had time to yourself. Did you get to scrap?
You're a natural, and it will turn out great! Belle just finished an insect unit with her kids. They grew caterpillars and the kids loved it. So did Belle!
TY!! It sounds like Belle is a natural, too. IMHO-- when it comes to teaching, especially with the little ones, it's either something "you got" or you don't. I checked on our worm jar with my HS kids and you'd think we were growing gold something. They still talk about the isopod habitat we made last fall. Bugs and worms are so dang cool.
Good luck to your finches and wrens! I haven't seen the Carolina wrens go into the nest in the "greenhouse" since Gary moved it and the nest got shuffled around. We have been seeing/hearing the pileated woodpecker almost every day. Freaking dinosaur birds! :giggle4: You really can see the ancestry in them., right?

All the birdladies..I'm loving the pics, talks and pages. As we travel I get to hear so many different birds but don't get to see many. At our last campsite in a FL State Park I heard 20 different ones in 1/2 hour.
That is really cool!!
Our plan for the one full day we will be in PA is to go to the Nature Preserve and see if we can find some neat birds. Scott got a monocular that he has a blast using -- he can connect it to his phone, pics aren't great but it is fun to fool around with- and we will bring our binoculars. There is a beaver pond there and maybe we will get lucky to see them too. :praying2:
That sounds like a nice flow to your schedule, no rushing from place to place. I bet you can't wait to get to CT!

I'm glad that you got tick spray. There are a bunch of different tick species and they all can carry Lyme and other infections. A lot of doctors will tell you that only deer ticks transmit Lyme but that isn't true. When you do tick checks, they like to be in dark, damp places as well as in your hair, behind your ears, belly buttons, and between your toes. And apparently, underneath blood glucose sensors. pfft.
Sorry for getting on my soapbox, but as you know, I have seen and lived how Lyme can devastate health, family, and finances.
I don't mean to scare anyone, either, just want everyone to be aware.

LOVE the hummer pic!!! Woohooo!!!!! :heartpumplove: :heartpumplove: :heartpumplove: And YAY that your plant is getting new shoots at the top :beatingheart: Man, good luck with all of your upcoming things...I feel tired for you just reading all of it :giggle4::hug2:
hahah!! I sat onmy butt for weeks after I broke my foot and then Bam! Right into my busiest season LOL There is no middle ground.
I looooove my hummingbirds. They make me so happy!

Hugs!!

Hope your day at Weis goes well!

Good morning,
Rain, rain and more rain!
Took all of my "stored" scrapbook paper to my daughter today for her to use for a kindergarten project....and to keep since I won't ever be using it. What she doesn't want, I told her to give to her daughter who works in daycare or my oldest daughter who will be coming in a couple of weeks for our summer gathering. Her daughter likes to do crafts!
Just going to be working on more monthly reviews today and have one more load of laundry to work, too. Mark went to work for a couple of hours.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Morning, all. It seemed so strange to be alone again.... both girls are back at their homes late yesterday. Was back to "normal" eating earlier (5:30 PM) and in bed and reading by 8:30PM and asleep by 9:30PM. But I do miss having them here. Today is getting the towels, etc washed and put away. Have a couple of errands to do, too.

Looked out this morning and there are a lot of hot air balloons in the sky. Guess that is due to barely any wind this morning. We have been having strong winds for the past few weeks which keeps the balloons from flying. I saw the ad about a big Air Show here on May 31 at the base here. So heavy traffic here over Memorial holiday weekend and the next weekend.

No, @faerywings.... I haven't got started on my June Challenge, yet. Tossing around several ideas in my head. Need to get it done before Sister arrives and DD#1 is back. We are having a preview of summer weather this weekend... low 80's but then falling back into the 60's for highs for a few days. Still having yo-yo weather. Oh, I remember the Hot and Humid weather too well. Hope the humidity backs off some for your area.

Off to get started on the chores then off to run the errands. HAGD

Good Morning Ladies!
Yesterday turned out to be a wonderful surprise of HOT sunny weather!! I think the official temp might have been 55° but when in the sun it felt like 80°. I got some color, sat outside and tanned while reading a book for a couple hours. My clothes dried on the the line in no time. It was a wonderful day. When I made the pizza dough Monday it really grew and I ended up with 10 doughs, so we all have lunch and I dont have to do anything today. It rained overnight so its nice and cool this morning but hopefully we get some sun again. I'm ready and willing to sit outside and do nothing. Oooooo you hear that? Coffee pots done, off to grab some. Have a wonderful day!

For Chris @faerywings and any other bug lovers:
A new PBS documentary series, called Bugs that Rule the World, is a four-part global investigation into insect declines, exploring their diversity and their critical roles on the planet. During the series, scientists highlight the beauty of bugs, from pollinators to insect assassins to the tiny clean-up crews that purify the Earth.

We watched the first episode last night and I think it was amazing. The second is also available now. Two more to come.

Hello my friends. It seems like I share my problems so often, but today I have happy news. Some of you went through the trials of Ava losing her twins last summer. She's now 31 weeks pregnant with her Little Peanut and today was her baby shower. What a joyous occasion it was - there were a little less than fifty people there. She is very loved. I'll try to post some pics in a few days. Adrienne took most of them and she'll share them when she gets a minute. Braden's GF Dylan surprised us when she walked in and sat at the "family table". Some of you also know that she has a tumor on her right ovary. It gave her some problems a week or so ago, as it "twisted" and she was in a lot of pain.. They got that under control and sent her home and she's been fine ever since.

She's a gorgeous, glowing Mommy-to-be and due the middle of July. We don't think she'll go that long, because she's very big. They plan to let her deliver Peanut, then in a couple of weeks, they'll go in and aspirate the tumor. Hopefully, nothing happens so that plan will go to fruition. My heart is so happy today and I just had to share. Love to you all. XOXO

What a wonderful time! I cant wait to see photos of Ava and Peanut. :heartpumppink: I bet the shower was amazing and a double blessing with everything she has been through so far. July is just around the corner and before you know it you will be holding sweet Peanut in your arms!!!

I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on that little Peanut, Tracy! Ava is beyond happy and will be the best Mommy. Today has been so wonderful - there was so much love in that big room. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

@Cherylndesigns You sure should be happy a grandchild and all good things ahead. So happy the shower went well now it is just wait, wait and wait. You will love it, so exciting to have a grandbaby. You will be such a great grandmother!!! Looking forward to see the pic and soon baby pics. You will have so much to scrap...

@faerywings ---bugs! come to Florida we have so many. Big, small, flying, crawling, itchy and on and on. I know they are important to nature but enough is enough.

We are in White Springs Fl and went for a nice 3+mile hike today along the Suwannee River. It was super hot. so it was nice to get back to the cool trailer for lunch. A local came by and chatted with us then returned to give us a book he wrote about sealife on a sub when he was in the service. Then I talked to single lady who spent 2 months in bed after her dog passed so she finally decided she couldn't do that-- so got another....I say good for her to push through the grief. Then I did laundry and dinner...chilling now. At laundry I talke with a guy who used to steal stuff from all over Tarpon Springs and never got caught. The world is full of amazing stories!!!! We leave tomorrow for Waycross GA for a few days, going to check out the Okefenokee swamp and a few things in the area..

I hope you all have a great rest of the weekned.

Somebody remind me why I am taking on a lot of hours at work...
Oh yeah, I think I figured it out.
1. The constant lack of money
2. I love my job!

I didn't get paid for the class I took yesterday, but I can take the classes offered by this organization for free. Trailbound is a Weis partner and is it such an incredible benefit. This was the 4th class I have taken and I have my 5th on June 7th. The first part was map reading, elevation/contour lines, and how to preplan trail and off-trail hiking. The second part was *fascinating* even if I I'll probably never use it in real life. We learned how to use a compass by determining degrees off True North we need to travel to get from Point A to B. The first practical "test" was moving from one marked tree, following the angles on our "treasure maps" to the next tree, then sync the compass to the next tree and so on. The second part I couldn't do much of because we went into the forest and had to go in straight lines, no trails. I did the first section, but then the path took us up a boulder incline so I looped around on flatter areas.
My foot felt fine, but sheesh, I was nervous about the rocky terrain. Today I am going on the Forest Bathing hike. I am shadowing Lauren since they want me to be able to fill in for her if needed. She developed this program, and as of now, no one else has led it.
This will be really good for me, it's slow paced, and "conscious hiking." Not sure what the right term would be, but it's sensory-based, so awareness of the body-nature connection is the focal point.
I need to get my confidence back and this will be very helpful.

Before I do that, I have to work on my grocery order and what the heck I am going to be cooking this week. I already hit my budget and I don't have any meals, just stuff like oil, milk, and coffee. :crying1:

When I get home, it's going to be a race to get ready for Mon/Tuesday's lessons and then finish my grocery order. And what to cook for dinner??
Grrrrrr.

I'll worry about that later, it is a beautiful day and I can't wait to get into the woods!

Here is some NJ sunshine for you all:

I am sure that they will appreciate that! If they don't want it, I'll ask Tracy's Uber Moose to head to NC and I'll pick it before I have pizzas in AK. LOL!
I hope you had a relaxing time scrapping.

((((((((hugs)))))))))))) Glad they made it home safely.
Are you going to make sure you are stocked up/errands done before Memorial Day weekend? Yikes, looked at my calendar, that is this upcoming weekend! :thud:I know that is what you said but it didn't fully register until I saw it.
The weather turned out much nicer than the forecast said it would. It was beautiful in the afternoon. Although I know the HHH wil be here before I know it. (more notes to self-- get the summer clothes out of the attic soon!)

Yesterday turned out to be a wonderful surprise of HOT sunny weather!! I think the official temp might have been 55°
:rotfl: I know it is relative and when I complain about HHH >85* days, Debby and Kay are probably rolling their eyes at me, but Ilove that you are excited by 55* (BTW, how do you get the tiny degree O?)
Sounds like you had a fabulous and relaxing day, hope today is the same!

A new PBS documentary series, called Bugs that Rule the World,
OMG!!!!!!!! I clicked the link and saw the cutest face smiling at me :D
I am going to see if I can squeeze in Episode 2 at some time today. I am teaching Pollinators to both classes Mon and Tues. That would be perfect!
TY sooo much for thinking of me and sharing! ♥

She's now 31 weeks pregnant with her Little Peanut and today was her baby shower. What a joyous occasion it was
:dancingbfly: Oooooooooohhhhhh!!! I am so happy for her!!!!! Give Ava the biggest hug from me!!! 31 weeks is a good milestone too-- I was in Preterm labor at 32 and they said that if Cait was born at that point, she would have great outcomes and that was 27 years ago. So many good thoughts to her and to Peaut and that everything goes as planned. :loveangel:
I'll try to post some pics in a few days. Adrienne took most of them and she'll share them when she gets a minute.
:waiting:

Yes, that is true, but you don't have ticks. I think you might be the winner hahahah!!
It is inch worm season in the woods here-- we were getting dive-bombed yesterday. -- I am going to wear my hat today.
The world is full of amazing stories!!!!
And it takes a special person to listen and appreciate them. Hope you meet lots of fantastic people on the road.

Enjoy that day wherever it takes you!

You'll get there!

Good Morning,
Heading to church in a bit to begin our "taxi" service!
We now drive to Dorothy's house, she rolls her wheelchair up into her handicap van and we drive to church. She and I get out and Mark takes her van to pick up another wheelchair member and his wife and brings them back to church. Then we reverse the process after church. It takes a lot of time, but it is a service unto the Lord!
I've gotten my January and February Monthly Review pages completed! I need to get a life! The only real pictures I have are of birds, LOL! I just forget to take selfies of Mark and me and Ilene and me, etc.
We went on a bike trip yesterday to our Lakeview Family Restaurant about an hour away. We love eating out on their patio and watching the activity on the lake. Then we stopped for ice cream on the way back. Beautiful weather for our ride!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! I will probably do some more scrapping this afternoon unless our pastor and wife want to ride!

Good morning my O!
Feeling extra sarcastic and funny (to me) this morning so sorry if my comments read off. :floorlaugh: Just read it all through humor and we should be fine!

WOOT WOOT You didn't get lost!!!! No Giligans island for you! You made it home!! :giggle4: I was worried, cause I know I would have gotten lost with a map and compass.
(BTW, how do you get the tiny degree O?)
So, hubs showed me, well told me, to search google for hot keys. For the Mac its shift, option, and 8. ° I was so excited to find that out. I've been using it non stop for 3 days now. Its really handy for recipes and adding the ° instead of *. Google degree hotkey and see what you find.

June and July! Y'all wont freeze to death then. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: It will be high 60's maybe 70°!!!! No ticks! But oh the mosquitos will carry you away if youre not careful. I have the beds so come on up! Caribou Uber might be easier to catch too! Give them a try!! :giggle4:

This is so wonderful Vicky. It probably does take time but what a blessing those ladies get to still attend church because youre willing to do that.

Todays raining and not super pretty but the pollen is being knocked out of the air so YEAH! Maybe we can breath easier today. Have to get ready for church so off and running.

Yes! Dorothy and Lorien are so appreciative! Lorien and his wife, Caroline, haven't been able to be at church much since before Thanksgiving when he got really sick and had spent probably more time at the hospital than at home! Poor guy! Got down to skin and bone and I think he has actually put on a little weight now! He wants to come even on Wednesday evenings, but Caroline puts her foot down and says no because he is too tired at the end of the day! Probably her, too!

Its so important to know when to say no. Good for her putting her foot down.
