happy, happy weekend to all of you!

Did everyone get through the week successfully? I survived the weather yesterday but it is going to be... erm... interesting trying to shovel today. I have absolutely no idea how much snow we got. I saw an "official snow total" that we had 7" at 3 pm but it was still coming down. But there was a crazy amount of wind.
(posting now so I don't lose this but the dogs are ready to go out BRB!)

Darn it! I lost my whole post again! No big deal. I was just complaining about snow and wind and trees falling over.;)

We played the Oregon Trail card game and everyone died except for me and I was able to get to the end. Then we had a movie night together. My brother got us Holy Grail Ale for Christmas so we watched "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and Scott and I drank the Ale. We hadn't watched that movie in ages and it is so funny.

Today I am going to work on shoveling out and the Food Pantry is this morning. After all of that, who knows? :noidea:

Have a fantabulous day!!!

Nancy- I feel your pain on losing your post. How did you make out with the weather?

Trudy- How did your Gary's eye appt go? That is wonderful news for Heather and Mason! Yay!!!
The kids both said that they thought that maybe they could have gone in (this was in the morning) but the roads must have been very deceptive since I heard that it was taking people hours to get around town, trees were down, and roads were closed. I was *very* happy that they stayed home.

Rae- poor Taz must have been trying to catch up with not peeing much at all the day before LOL That stinks about losing interest in the book but I have done that too, just need to get to the end.

Jean- That is what happened here and why we were grunpy too. Rained then snow then wind. Glad that the sun is shining by you- I think we are going to get above freezing so my fingers are crossed that the driveway will be easy to clear.

felis- I love seeing those pictures of you and the pups!!!!!
Biggie is really big and looks so soft!
Enjoy your Independence Day!

good morning - the sun is shining, the wind is really blowing but temps are above freezing so that is good. The weather yesterday was crazy. Mostly rain that turned to snow and all the while the wind was blowing it all sideways and then swirling. Just crazy! I made sure everything was charged just in case. But we were lucky and no loss of power though apparently there were outages in the town and trees down and roads blocked. In NJ there are over 150K without power. They had footage of trucks being blown off their wheels crossing the bridges and being tipped over and finally banned from the bridges. Freaky. We got just a dusting of snow. I am being bad and letting my DH walk Luther. He says it is not cold just windy and probably true but I am cold so I am staying home. But I am having a fun outing with my girlfriend. We are going to an autograph signing with Brian Boyle. Then have dinner afterwards. My Devils lost again. Only Taylor Hall can score. Which I am glad but the rest of team knows they have to do their part. Tomorrow night they play the Vegas Golden Knights - the leagues newest and one of the best teams so not even sure they will win that game. I did stay up and watched the Ducks win so that was fun.

Chris not surprised you got so much snow. If our rain had been snow it would have been inches. Take care shoveling as it is probably the heavy wet snow. Don't hurt the shoulder. It took my son a lot of extra time to make it home from Weehauken. Your family game night sounds so fun and then to add movies! Have a fun day!

Trudy hope the eye appointment went well. My sister had cataracts and she was so happy when the surgery was done and she could see so much better. When we went places I would say look there is a bird and she could not see now she can. That is great news about the bus being able to pick Mason up. He is really gaining confidence that is awesome!

Rae I have started some sample books on iBooks and they just don't hold my attention so I don't purchase them. I love that they give us a sample before we have to buy! Hope you can find a new good book to read.

Felis thanks for sharing those photos of your doggies. Biggie is big but not too big and he is so pretty. All of you look terrific!

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. I sat for over an hour in my chair with coffee, warm afghan and my ereader while D slept late. I love my quiet time in the early morning before D turns on the TV and starts watching videos on his ipad. I love my TV time but not in the morning. I need the peace and quiet.

Yesterday afternoon I brought more bags of clothes over to VV and got a 20% coupon. I browsed and was thrilled to find some awesome pajamas and two fleecy pajama hoodies. Then I found some workout clothes and sweatshirts that will be great for out at the trailer. The best find was a gym bag in mint condition, the only thing wrong with it was that it was missing the long shoulder strap, just had the shorter handles. I have an extra long strap so I grabbed the bag and asked how much b/c there was no price. I got it for $6. Yay. Perfect for bringing my clothes back and forth to the trailer. My other bag has ripped lining so is ready for the garbage now.

Later I will make up a batch of banana bread and need to figure out what to have for dinner. I'm trying to find some easy meatless meals for dinners for me, wanting to go meatless at least once or twice a week. I had heard of some yogurt (skyr I think the brand is, found at the organic store), a paleo youtube channel I follow talked about it. The yogurt is 22 gm of protein a serving so I want to try it and see if I have any effects from it as it would be a good protein replacement for meat. I've been off dairy long enough that I should feel effects from dairy fairly quickly, if there are any. I will never go back to cheese but if I can tolerate a bit of plain yogurt, that would be good. Otherwise I'll stick to coconut yogurt but there's no protein in it. Today I'll try a bit with a banana and blueberries.

I'm reading a good book "The Wolves Of Winter". It's a short book, flows really easily. It's holding my attention a lot more than the last one did. I've started buying a paleo magazine and just got the new edition so want to sit down with that later and go thru it.

I've got some CT stuff to do later and want to do a bit of editing. I might even get to scrap a page or two of my winter pics from last week. Somehow the day always gets away from me, so no big expectations for the day. Whatever gets done, gets done, if not...there's always tomorrow. I won't be online tomorrow morning as I'm heading out first thing in the morning to the Langley VV (about 1/2 away) which I've heard is one of the best stores and I've never been. There is a 50% storewide sale on tomorrow so I'm going to go check it out. Then I'll be heading to Costco with Jen. So, I'll be back in the afternoon sometime.

Chris - glad you had fun with the family game. Be careful with the shoveling.

Nancy - don't blame you for sending Luther out with your hubs into the cold. I'm the same way. I get chilled easily and bundle up way more than D does. He sits around the house in a t-shirt and I'm in a sweater, ugg boots and an afghan wrapped around me.

Felis - I"ll have to go see if I can find the photos of your dogs. I'd love to see.

I'm getting another coffee, will read a few more pages of my book, then will shower and dress, to get on with my day. Hope you all have a wonderful day ahead of you.

Morning ladies and Happy Saturday! New snow on the lower mountains this morning, but thankfully it did not snow here at the lower elevations. I slept like a log last night and woke up at 8am :bliss: So just having a bit of alone time while DH is napping. He was awake at 5am and went back to bed to catch up on his sleep. Not too much on the agenda today, just the usual grocery shopping and a few other errands to run. DH's appt went well and now he will go in next month for his lens fitting. They said it could be another year before he finally gets the surgery :gaah: really??? Wait times are horrible for cataract surgery a procedure that takes about 10 mins. I just don't understand it!! Oh well we are at the mercy of the doctors I suppose and there just are not enough of them.

Chris - Sorry that you lost your post, but at least it wasn't one that was too long. Sounds like you had a lovely evening playing games and watching Monty Python... so funny!! Yikes trees down and winds blowing so hard, yes it is good that the kids stayed home! Hope that you don't have to do too much shovelling, its awful when it is the heavy wet snow. That is all that we get around here. Hope you get some great goodies at the Pantry this morning!

Nancy - Yup I would have stayed home too, no fun going out in the cold when you are already cold just being in the house! I saw that footage of the trucks on the bridge, yikes it was pretty scary!! I sure wouldn't want to have been the vehicle on the other lane!! Sounds like a fun day with just you and your girlfriend Enjoy! It is disappointing that DH won't have his eye surgery until way after we go to Paris, I can tell his eye sight is so much worse and I was really hoping that he would be able to see all the beauty much better on our trip. :mmph:

Rae - A lovely quiet morning for you, glad that you are enjoying this new book so much more than the last! Your shopping Karma continues! I should hire you to be my personal shopper, because I sure can't seem to find anything that I like that is a half decent price :gaah: why does it have to be so hard to find a pair of blue jeans for heaven sake :becky: Hope that you enjoy your new Paleo magazine, I will have to check out this way of eating, but it seems if I try to introduce anything new I instantly gain weight. I stopped into the Home Hardware where I used to work and was visiting a friend who was a coworker and she started Keto in January, she said I inspired her to try it out, she is so happy that she has lost 22lbs already and her doctor says she is a miracle, because her cholesterol levels are way down, her blood sugar levels are perfect and so are her blood pressure levels which were very high. She no longer has aches and pains and she feels fabulous! She gave me a great big hug and said that I probably saved her life!! How nice is that!!

Jean - Yup no wonder you were grumpy with the weather being the way it was! Sure hope that DH will no longer have to rely on his glasses so much after getting the surgery, but man I can't believe how long we have to wait to have it done! Hope the weather has improved for your weekend!

Felis - Love your photos and how nice of you to share them with us! Yes biggie is very BIG! I hope that you had a good Liberation Day! Thankfully no fireworks to scare the animals! Nice that you heard the beautiful song bird and probably a wise decision to not feed them and encourage them to frequent your backyard with all of the cats that you have LOL. Oh and your style is not bad!! You look great and you look very comfortable, that is what is important! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Ok we are having soft boiled eggs this morning so I better get them on and grab another cup of coffee. Then off to the grocery store, hope you all enjoy a great day!

No special plans this pretty sunny day. The snow is still here, but much reduced and all roads and walks are clear. DH just put basketball on TV, so maybe I'll go out for a bit away from the noise.

Felis, thanks for the photos! Biggie sure is a big guy and tiny almost small enough to fit in a purse. You look great. I like the colors of your top. Enjoy your Liberation Day even though watching on TV.

Chris, I do hope you did NOT shovel wet snow. The game (and yay for you being the survivor!) and movie sound wonderful.

Nancy, nice to have the autograph party. Hope the Devils can get a win on this road trip. Amazing you had so little snow.

Rae, there you go with the shopping thing again and more to come tomorrow. Good luck with those stores.

Trudy, what a shame about scheduling the cataract surgery. Especially since it will be after Paris. Any chance of getting in sooner elsewhere, like Vancouver? On the bright side you've been a super inspiration to your former coworker. How wonderful!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Aww, lovely girls,
thank you so much for the kindly comments!:love::love:
Trudy, no Biggie only looks big because I'm low person, like Nancy said he different is smaller than Luther. I think he is like Ray and Whiskey. He is only half of the size of the original Bulgarian Shepherd Dog, because his breed is not clean, looks more like Yugoslavian Shepherd, but he have one proud Karakachan parent with sure! Aww, Chris, he really is very soft! I love to hugs him, even he isn't excited about that. And Jean, yes, when she was baby we often brings Tiny at these huge purses. She is very curiosity now and prefer to walk around, but I think we still can put it in if we try.
I definitely think it was good decision to stay at home. The TV program was very good made, they showed all important locations and speeches of celebrities and politics, and really was beautiful and patriotic. At the afternoon we make a short walk with mom and Tiny and it was just nightmare. I have good winter boots, but the melting snow is even more slippery from the ice, large pieces break away and you fall into mud. On the roads where was cleaned pour water from the melts roofs and all is wet and muddy. It wasn't good for driving with sure!
Nothing interesting today, clean up day, and at the night will try to watch the Oscars. Previous year we had participants from Bulgaria, but this we don't have, so it's not so exciting.

Chris, here the last snow is melting, and we feels the spring, so it's not away from you with sure! Even I'm surprising from how much snow you've got! Uhh, and jealous of course  .
Nancy, how good that you have a fun on a autograph signing! And awful about all these damages from the weather! Right now we are worried that all this water can make floods. I understand you so good about declined by the dog walk, ours wasn't funny with sure!

Rae, I love the morning quiet too! I'm started about 5 books, but looks like no one match to my mood, so I really have to be more seriously with that! That's great about the bag! My sister try some kind cheese from nuts and it's with really similar taste like the dairy, I'll ask her for the brand and will share. Oh, my dogs photos are at my Friday Chatter Thread, but there aren't nothing special, just Chris, was ask me.

Trudy, so bad about your husband surgery! Doctors really are nasty to postpone it so much!

Jean, did you go out for a walk? I hope it was good one with interesting bird! Pff, I can explain why I still procrastinate my weekly pages, they needs only tecst now, but I'm stuck in this point.

It sure feels like a lazy Sunday morning over here. It is already 8 am and I have done nothing. I didn't want to get out of bed and W was snuggling under the covers at my feet, so I climbed down there and snuggled with her for a while. That dog is so warm. You wouldn't think it since she has such thin/fine fur, but maybe that lets out her body temp more? I ended up getting out of bed when she yawned in my face-- dog breath! LOL

The snow was hard to shovel and where the plows blocked the driveway, it was easier to pick up the chunks of ice and throw them. The sun melted anything that was left by the end of the afternoon.
Cait and I made a quick trip to the vet. Clover's incision site was still swollen and the vet said that she would like to see it to make sure there wasn't an issue. Everything was fine and Caitlyn only needs to keep an eye that it doesn't get bigger. When I had my lumpectomy, I remember that it took well over a year for the swelling and scar tissue to go down. Guess it could be the same for a rattie.

We headed over to the FP after the vet and there were no cars in the lot. We normally go as soon as it opens but this time we were at the vet first. I thought they must have closed up, but there was a sign on the door that the church had no power so it was rescheduled for next week. I will be in PA again (long story hehe!) so Cait might go in my place. She would rather not, but is willing. She can see how she feels that morning.

In the afternoon, I scrapped a page! whoo hoo! That made me happy, I loved how it came out too. It was one of those (rare) instances where everything came together easily. Caitlyn and I made Nutella crepes for dinner and we watched some TV together.
Trudy- you will be proud of me, I finally got off of my butt and made a donation to my goddaughter's Dance-a-Thon charity in honor of her b-day which is today. Not sure why I thought it was the 6th the other day. But anyway, that was done and crossed off of my list.

Today I am going to get ready to go food shopping. I think I am going to go tomorrow so I can get to the DMV on Tuesday. I need to renew my license. Or maybe I will do that tomorrow and go food shopping on Tuesday? Decisions- ick!
I should also finish up my family taxes so I can move on to help the kids' work on theirs. But like I said up there ^^ I am feeling 120% lazy!

Have a very happy day!

nancy- it was wild watching the snow come down. Sideways! Parts of my town still has no power. My parents lost power but it was back on yesterday. OMG, I saw those pics of the trucks on the Verrazano Bridge! How cow!
Bet you and your friend had a good time with the signing.

Rae- what a lovely morning you had. That is one reason I love to go to PA- so I can sit with my book and blanket. More clothing karma!
Good luck with your meatless meals. I am craving falafel but man, such a pain to make. Hope that the yogurt doesn't give you any issues.

Trudy- that is terrible about having to wait for the cataract surgery that long. Will they move the date up if it gets worse? That is always one of the arguments against any sort of universal healthcare in the US-- that CA has long wait times. But if I understand, that is only for what is considered to be elective?
Monty Python is always hysterical to watch. They were so ahead of their time.

Jean- did you make it out at all? I felt bad for all of the birds and squirrels having their food sources buried under snow and ice so I dumped a box of matzoh crackers out for them A squirrel took one up into a tree and a blue jay sat right next to him, eyeing it up. i was waiting for the jay to take it away LOL

Felis- Biggie looks so much bigger than my pups. But I guess if you are tiny and then Tiny is tiny, that makes sense. And if he has a lot of fur that will make him look bigger too. How nice to stay in and watch the celebrations. My way to do it too. Be safe walking, the slush is worse than the snow.

better Un-Lazy myself... but more :cof1: first!

Good morning, ladies. I will keep this brief, maybe come back later today. I am really tired, have a headache and am feeling very sad. Please pray for Bailey.

She is in critical care at the hospital, in a medically induced coma while they try to figure out what happened. She was found unresponsive and having continuous non-stop seizuring. They are testing and hope to know more over the next few days. She lived thru the night but they said this could change at any minute. They are possibly suspecting meningitis and infection but at this time don't have any definitive diagnosis or prognosis, and continue testing. She will remain in a coma, on a ventilator, for now.

Please send any good thoughts, prayers, etc. That poor sweet girl needs them.

I'll check personals later. Have a good day, everyone.

good morning - well I had a great day yesterday. Carol and Barb were seats mates at the NJ Devils for years until Barb had to give up her seat. Now Carol and my DIL are seat mates. Carol and Barb still do lots of stuff together Barb just cant do 41+ games and the other stuff. I totally understand. We got to the Brain Boyle signing and the line was already long. We got our tickets which was a good thing because people that came later did not get in as the tickets were sold out. We got there about 4:15 and did not get to Brian for an autograph until 5:50 LOL. Am I crazy or what? But it was fun in line as we are all Devils fans and loved talking about the team. The neighbors got mad that there was a line in front of their homes so we had to go to the other side of the restaurant but then that side got mad so we had to move again. Too funny. The signing was held at a BBQ restaurant and the food was yummy as we were hungry after being outside in the wind though not too cold but the wind was the pits but the move the second time was actually good as they put the building between us and the wind. He was really nice and I got a really nice photo with him. Got home in time to watch the NHL outdoor game held at the Navy Marine football stadium - the Washington Capitals vs the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was a good game. The Caps won. Then I went to bed. I was so tired. LOL. But a fun girls day out. Today the boys well my DH and son are to his room to bring home the final things. I swear they are so funny. They left and then back not once but twice before they really left. My son forgot his phone the first time and the second time the key to the apt. Too funny! Tonight the Devils are playing the Vegas Golden Knights and it is Brian Boyle bobble head night. How fun is that. And it is an early game starting at 5pm. So I will be able to come home at a reasonable time LOL.

Chris enjoy a lazy Sunday. Glad that Clover is ok. That is true about scars. I still have scars from childhood spills. Glad the sun melted most of the snow you could not get too. And yes dogs are so warm they are so nice to snuggle against.

Trudy soft boiled eggs are my son's and DH's favorite way to eat eggs. My son took a cooking class in high school and got an A in the class because he cooked a perfect soft boiled egg. The teacher said it was the hardest and she was shocked. That is a bummer about the eye surgery perhaps you could explain you are going to Paris and would like him to be able to see better than he does now. Seems worth a try if they should have a cancellation or something. Thanks to Boston for defeating the Pens!

Rae I love my quiet time. My alone time. But Luther will love having my son home. It seems like the more you bring in the better the karma for finding new clothes increases. That is so cool about the gym bag. Amazing.

Jean hope the weather is better. We should be ok until Wed when more snow or rain is due to hit. I was listening to some Yankees yesterday and it was weird with it being so cold here.

Felis your Liberation day celebration sounds fun. You must have so much history and so many special sites to remember. And yes no fireworks is good for dogs!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning ladies... DH and I are bottling red wine this morning and listening to Roy Orbison's Black and White music video, its amazing! I will keep this short as we have a busy day planned with some yard work to do now that the sun is out and the temps are warmer.

Chris - I have been totally lazy too, not wanting to do much of anything, but my Gary keeps me busy on the weekends LOL. Usually anything that is serious in the way of surgery, there is not the long waiting time. DH's cataract is not so bad that it absolutely has to come out, so I am sure if they think that it really needs to be removed they will bump him up on the list. How nice that you scrapped a page that you are very happy with! I will have to check it out! Good for you for getting your god-daughters gift crossed off your list. We will be facetiming our Sweet Sadie sometime today to wish her a very Happy Birthday! It is a shame her gift will not be there for her today though.

Nancy - A fabulous day for you yesterday! Yes you are crazy for waiting all that time for the autograph, but I am sure it was all worth it! So your son is moving back home?? Hope the move gets done without any trouble! That is awesome that your son can make the perfect soft boiled eggs, they are very hard to get just right, but I have to admit that I cheat and use this amazing Cuisnart egg cooker, it makes the perfect eggs everytime! I love it

cec-10c_3.jpg

Rae - Oh my dear friend, I can honestly say that I know what you are going through!! My Heather was rushed to the hospital with what they thought was meningitis and she barely made it through the night. Testing of her spinal fluid was the only way they could make the diagnosis of not just meningitis but viral encephalitis. If this is what has happened to your poor Bailey then she will have a very long road of recovery! I pray with all my heart that this is not what she has!! If I can be a shoulder to cry on then please lean on me!! I am here for you if you have any questions, but I pray that they can find out what it is and that she will soon be much better!!

Felis - I hope that you are enjoying more spring like weather and that you are having a wonderful Sunday evening!

I best get going and help DH with his bottling or I will get fired! Wouldn't that be too bad LOL.
