:friday:

Whatta week! And it is still going strong for a few more days. I'm looking forward to next week, I have a lot less on my calendar going on than I did the past few weeks.

How was your day yesterday? Mine was pretty jam-packed but I got some great news and a fab visit with Scott. My FIL had a heart ablation procedure yesterday and it went well. He was able to go back home last night which I know he's happy about. My nephew had a job interview on Wed and got the offer yesterday so I am really happy about that. He works on Capital Hill for a Congressional Staffing office and it's been off the rails with all of the funding issues. This new job will be much more stable for him and it is in Communications which is where he wants to be.
My hiking buddy texted that she was up for the hike we had been discussing so I registered first thing this morning. It's early on Sunday but I am excited!

My plans for today are gonna be ummmm... interesting. I am going to my parents as I had planned but instead of cleaning, I am helping my mom go over some medical stuff. She saw her regular cardiologist yesterday and he doesn't think she needs to have the angiogram done. Her vascular surgeon had been pushing her to get it done but according to the cardiologist, he has a tendency to push tests. Because she has kidney failure, the angiogram is riskier because of the contrast dye they use. The cardiologist strongly suggested she get a second opinion on the angiogram so I'm hopefully going to be able to help her cancel the appt she has and make an appt with a new vascular group. (yeah, this is making my head spin more than a little as well!)

She and my dad have medical tests this morning so I'll have a few hours here before I drive down there. I should probably clean my desk, I have papers flying everywhere!

love to you all!

OH!! I forgot another bit of good news- Caitlyn's wedding dress was shipped to the bridal store and she will start fittings in June! It was ordered in Dec 2022, which feels like forever ago, but knowing it is *here* is really exciting!

@vickyday Caitlyn is keeping her bedroom pretty much as is. They bought a queen-sized bed and a new duvet/cover, and will be moving her desk into the LR (? Den? Office area??) They decided not to paint since it was redone recently. Gary replaced the carpet with the same flooring that is in the LR when she found out that she was severely allergic to dust mites a few years ago.
I touched up the paint in there yesterday so I think they will move the loveseat/table/chairs/TV this weekend.
WTG!!! That's awesome about walking 2 miles!!!! So proud of you!!! :cheer:
When my kids were taking herbal tinctures from their LLMD, he always said to start with a few drops and then each day they increased the number of drops until they got to the prescribed amount.
Can you email customer service to find out if yours can or should be taken every day?

@BrightEyes It is no wonder that your brain is feeling scattered- so much going on with your niece and then your SIL... How is he doing back home?
How exciting that DS#1 is coming to visit. He was in the Philippines?
The weather here has been so cold day and night. Hoping that we start seeing the 60s soon. I love that you are getting new growth and buds on the trees! My tiger lilies are popping up too, just a little :D

@bcgal00 What a relief that you are already feeling better, that last time was awful for you. I can't even imagine how many pictures you took! It's mind-boggling. *G* Did you have any favorite animals or places that you went? You visited such a variety of environments it all had to be super exciting.
Glad that Remi is enjoying the snow-when does your winter season actually end? That's too bad for the dogs about their swimming area being fenced off but how cool that it's because of the nesting birds. Will you be able to get any photos of them from your side of the fence?

@Cherylndesigns What a difference between the leash/poop laws in FL to where you are now. It's one of my peeves when I see dog poop on the trails. Sure it's not fun (read: disgusting and stinky) carrying poop bags for a few miles but be considerate, people!
The bookstore and herbalist sounds like my kind of place and people. Did I ever tell you that I am a certified aromatherapist? I got my certification when Scott was a baby. It was a difficult course with lots of chemistry and scientific research but so fascinating when putting it to use.

My 8 am Get off of the Computer Alarm just dinged.

I'm glad your mom's cardiologist is watching out for her and cares enough to suggest a second opinion.
Glad to hear your nephew has a job and one he wants!
Have fun on your hike tomorrow!

The lady who sells her tinctures takes it daily. It states on the bottle to take as needed, so I am assuming it can be taken every day. I will take it daily until I feel like my gut is better/normal??.....if that ever happens!

Good Morning!
42 feels like 37 at 9 a.m. but going to 60 by later this afternoon.....even with clouds predicted for the whole day and a chance of rain later on. I may try to get my walk in later if the rain holds off and it gets warmer.

Ilene and I had a good day yesterday. I picked her up at 10:30 and we went to Olive Garden for lunch before going to COSTCO. Since I bought frozen/refrigerator items we took those home first and then went to her house. Plus I had leftovers of my Chicken parmigiana and the rest of the salad and a bread stick that I figured Mark would eat after work.....which he did. I stayed at Ilene's until 5. Mark was at his ex-MIL's cutting up some trees she had for him. He was one tired puppy when he came in after dark! The trees were cypress. He's planning on milling them he just doesn't know what for yet. Maybe a deck for the cabin. He's back out this morning trying to get something done before the rain gets here.

No plans for me today. I may start some of Mark's laundry. Ilene is going to want me to come over again today, but I don't think I will go. I want to hang out around here in case I get a chance to walk. Right now I need to fix something to eat for my growling belly!

HAGD!

Morning all. Woke up at 5:30 but dozed until after 6 AM. Temps are just above freezing this morning. Forecast is for the lows to start edging upward over the next week. Might be able to uncover the daylilies in the next few days!!! Just heard from DSon#1 and they should be here on the 29th or 30th - depending on whether they sight-see on the way from Las Vegas, NV to here. Yes, Chris... they are in the Philippines right now.

I did a few errands yesterday. Stopped by the grocery store and scored big time.... they had spiral-slice ham on sale for $1.29 lb. Regular price was $34 and I got it for $13!!! Whoo-whee!! Perfect timing with the kids coming in next weekend. Need to pickup some sweet potatoes. That will make a fabulous Easter Sunday meal! Glad my Jim will be here to lift the ham in and out of the oven for me. Think I will fix some lentil and ham soup with the ham bone the following week. Need to check with Jim if he would like that. If not, I can freeze the ham bone and use it later.

Time to get my shower and sort the laundry. BBL

Good morning ladies. It was a stressful night. I think you all know that Jen hasn't ever recovered much from Bailey's passing, she struggles with being social and wants to move out on her own, into a little place, in Edmonton (where it will be cheaper). I let her know to do what's best for herself and go when she wants, whether its in a month or whenever, but it sounds like she hopes to be set up there within a few months. We will stay in the house for a year for sure because otherwise we'll be hit by the government for capital gains tax (a penalty they tax you if you sell within a year of buying a home b/c they figure you are flipping a property). We love this house and maybe we'll stay longer and definitely won't sell until we find something else smaller but that we love as much. So nothing will happen right away but looks like more changes coming. If Jen changes her mind that is good but she tends to stick to her guns when she makes a decision. I know she's not been happy and maybe living with us forces her to be too social and put on a happy face too much for our benefit and it is adding to her stress. Hopefully living alone, having to be more self sufficient and getting back into counselling will be good for her. She'll be about a 3 hr drive away so we'll see her, just not too often. Does life ever stop changing, ever stop being stressful? I just keep telling myself that everything that happens is supposed to and that we will all manage in the end.

It's been snowing and Remi had fun yesterday chasing the ball in the snow in the field. I'll do that again this afternoon. I'm still sick but recovering. The headache still seems to come and go but at least its not constant now. We watched an episode of a new show, Elsbeth and not sure if I like it or not. The character is really quirky but maybe too quirky, I'll give it a few more episodes to decide if I'll continue with the series. Watched a fun game show "Deal or No Deal Island" and it has Boston Rob on it from Survivor/Amazing Race who we like. It's a game show but has challenges.

Today I'll get a page scrapped, will go to the field with the dogs and get some laundry done.

@faerywings Sounds like a second opinion would be a good idea for your mom. How exciting that C's dress arrived to the store! We won't get close to the birds, the fencing is quite far from the actual nesting. The weather here goes up and down here in March/April. Some days it is in the 20's and other days in the 50/60s. The snow ends in a few days and then temps in the high 40's for a week so it'll start to melt. No matter the temps though the sun comes out pretty much every day.

@vickyday Haven't been to Olive Garden in years but still remember their endless salad and breadsticks...yum!

@BrightEyes That's exciting that the family will arrive soon and what a good score on the ham! These days with the outrageous food prices it is a bonus to find a good deal.

@mywisecrafts Hi Esther, nice to see you here. I agree, Friday meetings shouldn't be allowed :)

I'm getting another coffee and check out CT stuff before starting laundry. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon.

Light rain and 61 at this moment. Could be a pj day. I just looked out and saw our neighborhood dog runner. The dogs were barking earlier and I thought they were barking at the dog, but one of the guys left an Amazon package on my porch and they were barking at him. He just texted me to let me know. I ordered a footstool for my chair in my new "reading room" that used to be my office. I can't stand to not put my feet up when I'm relaxing. I was hoping it was that, but no such luck.

Chris @faerywings good news all around. Your dad's test, your nephew, Kate's dress - yay for it all. Sounds like your mom is in good hands, too. Yes, it's very different with the animal laws. When we first moved out here, I carried a poop bag whenever I walked on the property. Braden saw me one day and said "oh just leave it, Cici, I'll mow right over it".
I did NOT know that you were a certified aromatherapist. How cool is that? I love to watch shows about how they create perfumes. I watched Halston recently and it was fascinating to watch how he created his signature perfume. He put tobacco in it as well as some other things. I'm sure you read my post about putting essential oil in a burning candle - that saved me a lot of money. Since I already had the white, unscented candles.

Vicky @vickyday that tincture will definitely help you. Just give it a chance. You probably have enough for a month? Not sure how big your bottle is. (I also answered some of your questions in yesterday's chat.) I swear by herbalism now. I know they can't cure everything, but they sure can help. Another thing I do is sprinkle Gingerroot powder into my hot tea whenever I drink it. It's also good for the digestive system. I get all my herbs on Amazon. I figured out how to make my sleep tea by studying Nicole's herbs and tinctures. Then I order from Amazon and mix my own. You can even buy tea bags on Amazon. The packages I get are pretty big but they last me for months. I just mix my herbs in Mason Jars and label the jars. "Cheryl's Apothecary".

Hugs to everybody and have a good weekend.

Yes, it is a one ounce bottle and will last a month if I use it once a day, I believe.
What do you do for headaches? I'm still taking my Tylenol PMs every night, too.
Have you ever heard this.......eat some raw almonds for acid indigestion? I don't remember where I read it but it seems to work for me! The bone broth I drink every morning gives me acid indigestion and it goes away when I eat about 8 raw almonds! Weird!

Good evening ladies! Just a quick in and out from me.

@faerywings first, great news on your FIL's ablation. Pretty remarkable what they can do. Second, I am impressed with your mom's cardiologist. I think that is very good advice to get a second opinion. Then Cait...her wedding dress fittings start in June. Time is moving quickly for sure!

I have started cardiac rehab...have 36 sessions and I have finished the first one today. I'm actually glad for the structure to get me back to exercising. The heart is doing well. Heading to Iowa in the morning. Quick trip. Brian's sister's husband passed away in his sleep last week. He was 68. Rhonda (Brian's sister) is the one with all of the health issues. No one ever dreamed that Vern would go first. Now Brian is all that Rhonda has left in this world...no kids, no other siblings. And we aren't very nearby. I think that there will be lots of decisions on the horizon but I'm trying to not plan for all of the unknowns.

Kids are doing well. Shaun is now working fulltime which I think is a lot when you are going to school fulltime. However, it seems to have him really focused. He is so ready to be finished. Hopefully he can maintain the focus through the end of the year. And Sydney went to Key West part of last week for spring break. Then this weekend she had an engineering conference in Raleigh. One of her best friends from Iowa goes to Duke. So Syd was able to drive up early and spend a couple of days with her prior to the conference. They have one of those friendships that I think will last a lifetime. They always pick right up where they left off and they are 100% honest with each other...no pretenses. Everyone needs a friend like that for a lifetime.

Counting down to the Alaskan cruise...6 weeks now. Can't wait to have that time with Syd to create memories...and to see Alaska! I hope everyone is doing well. I sure miss you guys and I'm hoping that I can get it together soon so that I can talk to all of you daily.
