Guess what happened this morning? I woke up at my normal time and wondered why the heck my alarm didn't go off. Took me quite a while to realize that it was Saturday. At that point, I couldn't get back to sleep so I snuggled with W for a while. Even though I am mad at her. She knocked me over yesterday morning with kisses and her tooth hit my forehead and left a bump and cut. *pouts* I think I will live. Nah, it is very tiny. But man, once she had me on the ground and was all over me, all I could do was go into fetal position and try to not laugh with my mouth open or her tongue ended up in:. pound:

It was a beautiful day yesterday. I was outside a lot of the time. Gary saw that there was a Free Stuff listing at a house at the end of the street so Cait, Gary and I took the two dogs for a walk to check it out. We got a couple of cool things and the dogs were great. We bought W a halter like we have for J and what a difference in how well she walked. No pulling at all. Then Cait and I took J and W to the dog park for an hour. Two other dogs showed up and they had a great time running around. My goodness, when W gets going, she is *fast.* They both came home very happy and tired.
I went outside for a bit and mostly cut back the sage that had started to get way overgrown and gone to flower. I have a lot of the leaves in the dehydrator right now.
Caitlyn made apple crepes for us for dinner and they were so good. Scott came home in time for them. He and Leah went out on the boat last night and got to watch the Air Show as the sun set. He posted a couple of pics of that saying it was the best impulse purchase ever.

It stunk that the Air Show was going on at night- as I was trying to sleep. It is so loud. It is also on today and tomorrow. I think I hate the Boat Races more than the Air Show. But talk to me when they are going on and I will see if I have changed my mind.;)

(The Air Show is an annual event at our small airport in town- they have military flyovers, wing-walkers- http://www.greenwoodlakeairshow.com/index.html The Boat Races are speed boats that run up and down the lake.)
Don't get me wrong, I love where I live and I know that tourist dollars are important to the community, but I prefer the quiet activities like hiking and the stuff at the NJ Botanical Gardens. Yup-- old and cranky- get off of my lawn. That is me hahaha!!

This afternoon, I am going to do some wedding in the back yard-- some raking too. There are still a lot of leaves that never got raked last autumn. I need to find a good audio book too. The one that I am listening too is not that interesting. I can get them through the library website but there aren't always the ones that I might pick out on my own. We'll see.

Hope that your day is sunny and peaceful!

Trudy- Sorry that you are having rain, but I bet that your plants are very happy. Were you able to get to the Nursery? Scott picked up a really pretty hosta the other day and so far *knocks wood* no animals have nibbled at it yet. I have a bunch of white astilbe but I bet the red looks so pretty! As soon as the flowers dry up, they white gets very ragged looking immediately. I guess the red holds the color a bit better?
Still painting the garage? I remember when was doing that, but didn't realize that it was 2 years ago. (Time flies with other people's live too!)
What is Pro-D Day?
Funeral is this morning so I will give my Mom a call this afternoon to see how she did. I think that she was more concerned that his whole family will be there as a united front. We used to call them "The Bulldogs"-- that was their town's school name and we couldn't do a darn thing as kids without hearing about every last Ah-MAY-Zing thing the Bulldogs did.
I do feel better after being out in the fresh air!

Rae- Wow. I am not sure how I feel about the MRI results. I am thrilled that she is showing slight improvement. And I am glad that it is showing the severity of the issue so the med team gets on top of it. But man, it is heartbreaking to hear how severe it is. Lots of emotions all tangled in that. :( Please tell Jen again that she has all of us on your sides- and that I am sending so much love to you all.
Really good to hear that you enjoyed the movie and snacks together.

Jean- That is so exciting that you have more info and update to your book! Bet the family is happy to get that information. Sorry to hear about the Cavs.

My back and shoulder are a bit stiff but nothing as bad as I have dealt with- the head feels clearer and that is much more important anyway ;)

Trudy- the garage is all done? Yay!!!!! Bet it looks incredible!

Felis- Oh, no- I LOVE hearing about good days and that helps to balance out bad news. Keep the happy things coming! I am thrilled that you had a nice day. Makes my heart smile, sweetheart!
That is what Gary tells me too- about knowing what I can control and not stressing over what I cannot. Way easier said than done. I have always been the person who roots for the underdog since I was a kid, so it makes it hard to let things go. But I love my Dirt Therapy so that helps for me to focus on.

Love to all!

Morning all... so far a sunny morning but I can see some pretty dark clouds up the valley and heading our way :mmph: Today will be grocery shopping and running a few other errands and last night I talked with my brother and SIL and they invited us to dinner tomorrow. My oldest sister Joan is there for a couple of days, she lives on the Mainland and rarely makes the trip by ferry to visit, so they wanted us to join them for a visit with her also. I haven't seen her for ages. She is the second oldest in the family and has done extensive research on the family history. (Jean you would have a wonderful time talking with her!) I hope that she has brought the book that she has put together, as I have not seen that yet either. I am up very early this morning, guess my mind just thought it was time to get out of bed at 5am  I actually feel pretty rested, but maybe will crash later in the afternoon.

Chris - I did not make it to the Nursery yesterday, it started to really rain and I didn't think it would be much fun to wander the Nursery in a downpour LOL. When I think about it... The garage being painted was probably more like 3 years ago :becky: Wow where did the time go?? But its all done now and everything looks tidy and clean, so nice to have that job done. Now on to the next job of cleaning the front room windows and getting rid of all the cobwebs and spiders that are living outside of that big window :fear: We are also hoping to get the front porch re-painted this weekend too. :gaah: we need more days together! Oh and a Pro-D day is a day off for the teachers to attend meetings or seminars that are scheduled for them why it is called Pro -D ?? I have no idea :noidea: Guess it stands for Professional Day?? I have white astilbe also, the red is pretty even though it doesn't last as long as I would love it to. Ha, Ha the Bulldogs story sounds very much like how MIL and FIL talk about the youngest SIL and her boy, there is nothing that they can do wrong and we all hear about it constantly!! :blah: :lalala: I hope that things went ok with your Mom at the funeral service. Please send my condolences to her on her loss!!

Felis - Don't ever feel bad about telling us your good news/happy days! We love to hear you share those stories! Yes my DH and I work very well together, we make a good team and we both love being outdoors doing yard work etc. We are lucky that way as the people who live behind us are totally opposite and are always yelling at each other LOL. Sucks to be them!!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Saturday and you all do something fun today!

Hello girls,
I think I'm living in some freaking Twilight zone. This just couldn't be the same family as from previous weekend. Don't understand me wrong, I'm away from the idea to complain that we are happy, but is I'm the only one who thinks that words have maters and they hurts?! However!
Today we had the most lovely time together. My parents was gardening and then I help to mom to pick up some morello cherry for a liqueur. They was so jolly and laughing. Both dogs playing around. Tiny is on a leash, because often provokes cat fights, and Biggie on chain, because the day before yesterday he 'accidentally' step on Hunter three times  . And cats was lying on shadow around. It was one little idyll.

Then we pick up morello. Me and Biggie pick up them, love to do that. Love to be in the hugs of the tree, singing loudly a song which words I don't know correctly: "We're not lovers we just strangers, with the same darn hunger to be love, to be touch, to be anything at all" :sing: for example. I'm awful singer, so we all laugh. Only Biggie encourage me. I'm not sure how mom decided to make a liqueur. We have this old morello trees and previous year I made jams but we did not eat them on time, so I wouldn't do it this year. And we will try different things. My granny was made this liqueur and mom watch it in one local TV show, so decide to try it. I can understand why you will want to make such a thing for your alcohol addicted husband?! But mom explains me that grandpa would have been drinking anyway, and with making home alcohol granny is saving money to feed her childs. I told you that in mine family always have strange and sick relationships.
Now we are inside and will watch movie, because suddenly start to rain very strong and even have storm of hail.

I hope you all have lovely weekend as me!

Chris, this air show looks very interesting to me, but sorry that noise disturb you! If it keeps you awake anyway better go to watch it  . Happy to hear that you have lovely time with your fur babies! Uhmm, I wouldn't left dog to jump over me, at this situation you'll lose your alpha position and she wouldn't listen you as a authority after that. But this is just me, I'm more familiar with the cats, so maybe I'm wrong about that.

Trudy, I wake up at 5am today too and scrap a bit, but then gone back to the bed. This family meeting sounds very fun!

:hello: Nancy, Jean and Rae :cof3:!

I am so happy that I got to spend a few hours outside yesterday. It is cloudy and drizzly this morning. It is a good day for me to spend inside and get crap done. :D

I feel so accomplished when I can see a difference in something-- like when I clean the house or week the yard. I got a lot done yesterday. Weeded out along the back of the house, raked the leaves from the side area. We also put slate down on one section of the yard where we have an old picnic table and I ripped out the weeds that came up through the cracks. There are still more leavers that should be cleared but I pooped out after that.
Scott and Leah took the rowboat out again for the afternoon and they are having so much fun with it. It is corny, but when my kids are happy, I am happy.

My parents are coming up with bagels this morning. I spoke to my mom briefly last night and the wake/funeral went fine with her brother. Cordial but that was it. The best outcome for sure. Then I will get ready for the week, maybe scrap? I am going to steal some photos off of FB that Scott and my SIL both posted. SIL is volunteering at the NJ Special Olympics with Christopher and shared a bunch of cute pics together.

Have a fab day!

Trudy- that is so nice that you will be able to get to see your sister tonight. I bet she will have a lot of neat info to share about her heritage book even if the book itself isn't there. Scott would understand 100% about not wanting to wander about a Nursery in the rain  Some days he comes home soaking wet.
3 years ago for the garage?? That can't be! ha!!!! Have "fun" with the front windows when you tackle that. We call Pro-D days "In Service Days" but they are the same things for the teachers.

Felis- sounds like you and the family had a great time together. What is up with Biggie stepping on Hunter? Bad puppy! LOL The morello cherry liquor sounds good- maybe even drizzled over some vanilla ice cream. :hungry:
Yeah, we try to keep W from jumping on any of us, but in the moment when she is trying to play with us, it is really hard to do anything but laugh. She has gotten really good with "Stay" when we feed her and have been making her sit and stay when we open the front door. She isn't 100% successful with it but has gotten better.

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Oh-- Rae, I was telling Gary how upset I was that B's nurses are not accommodating about testing her blood sugar and he was pretty shocked (but not surprised sadly). He was wondering if she has an endocrinologist on her medical team? If not, is there any way that they can add that? Obviously, blood sugar is so important to brain function that I would think that would have to have someone... but you never know :(

Morning ladies... it is very quiet in here these days! I guess everyone has so many other things going on right now. Our neighbours down the street from us have been celebrating as their youngest graduates this week. Wow I remember her as just a little girl when we moved in, now her and her brother are both done high school and they both have jobs. I wonder what the future holds for them? Yesterday we got some very sad news that my Gary's Aunt Marion was admitted to the hospital and will be spending her final days there. She had a stroke a while back and also has cancer. Her kids drove through the night to be with her and SIL Linda was already out there for a visit when she was taken to the hospital. It is very sad as she is the youngest sister of my MIL and she has already lost two sisters, one to kidney failure and one to cancer. Now it will be just her and her older sister and the youngest and only brother. We found out through SIL Linda sending us an email, because she knew darn well that her Mother wouldn't call anyone about it. Family is strange sometimes!! :tape:

Chris - I am happy that you got to be outside so much yesterday! We attempted to do some yard work yesterday also, however it started raining as soon as we got started LOL. So we sat on the front porch and had a cup of coffee instead. By the time we were done it stopped raining and we went to work trimming a bunch of bushes that have been growing like crazy this spring. We never did get the front window cleaned, I think we were both thinking of all kinds of other jobs we could do just to avoid having to tackle that one :becky:

Felis - Yes families can be very strange!! LOL One day you love them to death the next you could wring their necks. Like the saying goes, you can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family! It warms my heart to think of you and your fur friends all outside and singing!! The morello cherry liqueur does sound very good! I agree with Chris that it would be awesome poured over some nice ice cream! I hope that your families good mood continues on through out the week and that you will have pleasant times spent outdoors!

:hello: Rae, Jean and Nancy! It is quiet here without you all! I hope everyone is doing well and getting some time to enjoy a peaceful weekend!

Hello girls,
Trudy when I started to write I saw you was here at the same time and now I see Chris is online too  . We are on a same wave, how fun!

Oh, Trudy, this about your Aunt Marion is so sad! And most scariest is that she couldn't be at home where will feels comfortable in her own bed, but have to wait at some cold oficial hospital setting, such a pathetic final of one journey. I told this too often but Fate is b :censored: . It must be so hard for the whole family, so sorry!

Chris, I'm relieved to hear that your mom didn't have problems! I'm sure your dad to be with her is helped mostly. Love to listen about Scott and Leah on the romantic boat! Looks like you've had a very busy weekend. I hope now you to find time to make some picnic on this old picnic table! I just love this idea for morello cherry liquor on vanilla ice cream, it's something that even I can try, because I'm not a fan of just drinking liquor. Oh Biggie and Hunter are best buddies, and she loves to follow him most of the time when she is out. But he just never watches where step, including on us, and she just is too often 'victim' on that so to looks like actual accident.

I have nice day, but boring: grocery shopping and few others little errands. Also I wasn't strict enough at Friday so tonight have to finished some work's stuff. ITA with Trudy, here is very quiet this weekend, hope you ladies comes with some good summer stories! :tea:

I've been doing more genealogy. I know eyes will roll when I get into details, but it's been exciting. DH's maternal grandmother was a daughter of the oldest of four sisters, a family that came to the US from Slovakia in the 1870s. Through DNA matches I've been in touch with a genealogist whose great grandmother was another of those sisters. (That makes her and DH 3rd cousins.) We didn't know much about the other two sisters. Recently DH's sister's DNA results came in. The other genealogist saw her matching to her brother and took another look at our tree online. She found I had more about one of the sisters than she did and wrote me about it. Because of that I took another look at my own stuff. I soon realized that I had two pieces of the puzzle that I had never put together!! Now we have a whole family for a third sister. Then I thought we needed DNA matches from that family, so started researching descendants. Found two surnames acquired through marriage that appear in DNA matches that our two lines share. So, maybe we can contact them and verify they are in that family and we'll all know lots more that we did a few days ago. - Well, you asked for stories.

Watched the end of the Stanley Cup games, last of the NBA championship (sigh) and yesterday watched the Belmont to see Justify win the triple crown. Today is gray and damp but it is summer and there are baby birds and the silky dogwood is blooming lots and a few of the little pale butterflies called Azures that like it have been seen.

Chris, super that mom didn't have any flare up from uncle. In contrast loving stories of Scott and Leah with the little boat. You sound so happy when talking about being and doing outside.

Trudy, you sound pretty happy about working in the yard as well. One day you'll run out and have to do the windows, but everything will be looking great by then. So sorry to hear about Aunt Marion. Agree with Felis that it's a shame to be shunted off to hospital that last bit.

Felis, well you too had wonderful outdoors stories, so it must be what you all need. Hope your and everyone's week stays nice.

Rae and Nancy, hope you're both doing well.
