:cheer2: Yay for summer weather! It is going to be a perfect summer weekend. Now I only need to figure out what I want to do about it. I will be outside in some capacity- whether it is reading or gardening or most likely a bit of both. But yes, Dirt Therapy is in order.

Yesterday was a Day. My mom and I were pretty successful at the Christmas Tree Shop. I was able to get napkins, plates, and a couple of other things that I needed. Between the 2 of us, we were able to combine orders and save $10. Nice!
After that, we were trying to find somewhere to grab a bite to eat and I am navigating her through some crazy traffic and Gary calls. Cait's car died while she and Brendan were at the diner. I am trying to hear him at the same time as trying to direct my mom where to go and it was about 5 full minutes of chaos. :hurt: We end up scrapping lunch, going to the really good bakery, bought bread and almond horns and web back home. AAA was supposed to be at the diner to get her car towed at 2 and hadn't even called to say that they were on their way when Gary was able to get the car started and got them back home. She has an appt at the shop already set for Monday for 2 other issues, but now they think the starter is going. Poor Pook. She is not catching a break with the car. (Then again, who does?)
She will be using my car until she gets hers sorted out, which means I have to drive the Beast VUE. Yippee. ha!!

We heard a quick update about her friend who was in the car accident. She had another MRI and they found some bleeding in her brain and is back in ICU. I know how much Caitlyn is worried about her. If anyone has a moment for a quick prayer or good though for Andee...

At the end of the day, a really good thing happened- One of Scott's friends told another friend that he as having trouble getting inulin. That friend of a friend's friend (LOL) works in a Dr's office and gets samples but no one uses it so it goes to waste. She dropped off 5 months' worth of insulin. Just amazing!!!

Hmm, I think my brain went bzzzz for a little bit. I have no idea what I was trying to do. ha!
Let me post this and feed the dogs and I will be back for personals.

I am back...

Welcome back, Nancy! We missed you. I am thrilled that you had such a great visit. I love the story of how she brought you and your hubby together. How often do you get to see her? Hope that you will be able to do this again soon, sounds like a blast. You were sort of close to me. Sparta is about (guess it??) 45 minutes from me- beautiful area out there! My dad does a lot of fishing there too. Men and directions, can't even understand Google Maps! That is too funny! bet the house was quiet and if I were you, I would be enjoying that peace!
Whoa! That is kind of crazy about your girlfriend's SIL has a half-sister. Guess you really don't know what you are getting into when you do a DNA test!

Trudy- How was the wine tour? Can't wait to hear all about it.Good that no one has to drive. I hate shoe shopping. I size 6 which is small and it seems that any time I look for shoes, there aren't any left in my size. Good luck on Amazon!

Jean- good luck with the genealogy program today. I know you are going to be awesome. So you will be teaching the group how to best use Google for family history searches? 30 people *anywhere* for me is a lot! hahaha!!! I am anxious about it, but it is just family and close friends. Should be easy peasy. Right????

Rae- Sounds like you needed a day like yesterday- home alone scrapping and playing with Taz. I hope that it worked out perfectly. What movies are you watching with B? Nice to hear that she enjoying them. I cannot cannot imagine how hard it must be to hear that she wants to die. But of my kids were suicidal at pints, Gary too... but at least I could tell them that things would get better at some point. Must be hard for B to see that as a possibility.
The coconut creamer sounds delish!!!

Sharon, long time no see! Hope life is settling down a bit. We went to Sandals for out honeymoon and for our 10 year anniversary, I would love to go back, you get so spoiled there. Bet you came back with some gorgeous pictures!

Felis- Poor kitty! I hope that they are able to figure out is wrong with him and it is easy to take care of.
man, I am really running behind schedule--
xoxo!!

good morning - my DH is on his way home. He does not like MA especially Boston traffic that is why he did not drive and will be taking the train home. Luther and I got our morning walk in and he saw a cat and he really wanted that cat LOL. My SIL was totally amazed at the difference when Luther walks with me vs when he walks with my DH. She was not sure I could handle Luther but then saw the difference. I love my trainer. Yesterday was a do nothing day. I did go out and enjoy the weather. Made a dinner of pork chops with potato salad and cole slaw and my son devoured what I did not eat. I love that. I am watching some of the World Cup. It is good background noise and then watch when you hear the announcers voices rise. Yesterday's game between Spain and Portugal was as good with real action. I always like Rinaldo.

Chris yes summer is here and it is so so nice. My son is starting already with the whine about it being hot. It only in the low 70s. He could never live in hot weather. That is the pits about Cait's car. Glad your Gary got it going. What good is AAA if they do not show up. Seems like you should get a refund each time they do not show up when they say they should. I will send prayers for Andee. At least they caught the bleed before it was doing much damage. Have fun with dirt therapy.

Trudy cant wait to hear how the wine tour went. That is awesome that the bus picked you up and dropped you off at your place.

Rae so glad you are taking some me time. And glad to hear that others are coming to visit her too! Have fun with Taz. How awesome to see the rufus. He is pretty!

Jean you genealogy group meetings sound so interesting. My DH has a new DNA sequencing machine for the department and they are using it to look at gut fauna. They took Luther's poop as a control. Cant wait to see what he has vs others. As fast as the machine can put out the data it still takes along time for the grad students to look at the date. Have fun!

Sharon good to say hi. Sandals sounds like fun and that you needed some time. Hope the weather gets better. I have been seeing you have been getting drenched with rain.

Felis hope things go well with your kitty!

Have a great day all!

It is Sunday and Father's Day- big hugs to all of the dads out there.

I am so happy that the weather is beautiful again. I spent 2 hours outside yesterday, weeding along the back of the house, scraping moss off of the stone/concrete by the back door. I still have so much more to do but I go nice and slow, sitting on my butt while I work. I know I am going to be outside again today. yay!

I finally finished the LO of J and her big blocky head and smile. I did it for the NBK Tech challenge which was really neat to try out. It is always good for my mushy brain to learn something new.

I also posted on FB that I am raising money for the ACLU for my birthday. My family has been bugging me for a couple of weeks of what I want. Maybe it is because I am used to not getting a lot of new things and have learned to make do with things until they fall apart, but I don't really *need* anything. But this border/family separation policy is killing me. I have raised $139 already. Soco and my MIL shared it on their FB pages which also helped so much.

My parents are coming up for b-fast this morning and the rest of the day I want to be outside.

Enjoy what ever you do today

Nancy- I haven't driven in Boston in years and years. Decades really. But it was always a mess, so I can understand your DH taking the train.

Gary has been walking with W every day and she walks well for him which makes me happy. Hope that the World Cup is exciting today too.
Hahaha!!! Sorry fo laughing at Luther's poop being studied. neat machine!

Morning O-zies... I was totally MIA yesterday, but that is typical for me on the weekends. I am up early to get the house cleaned and ready for the onslaught of relatives that will meet here for Fathers Day and then we are all off to the Rock Cod Cafe for a Father's Day lunch. It should be fun! Not sure what they all will think of the fact that we will not be attending Aunt Marions service which is in Cranbrook area in the interior. The service is on Monday the 25th and DH has his cataract appt which he has been waiting months for, the flights to the area are ridiculously expensive and we just can't afford it right now. All of our extra funds are going to our trip to Paris. I am sure we will be hearing about it from the inlaws :mmph: Our son was hoping to go, but he has his exam on that day and he needs to concentrate on that. Flights from his airport are even more expensive than here :gaah: why can't anything be easy!! So anyway I want to wish all the great Dad's out there a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!! I will pop back in a bit after I get DH his breakfast and put a load of :washing: in. Its going to be a scorcher today with heat warnings for our area, what a change from the cold windy weather we had last week! Back soon : wave:

Happy Fathers Day too all and a good late morning - well yesterday was not as carefree as I thought it would be. Luther and I got out for a nice morning walking. Came back and giving him some nice scratching and discovered a tick. My son was awesome and was able to pull it out head and all. We took it to the vet to see what kind it was. We looked on the web and could think it is dog but wanted confirmation. They think it is dog but sent it out to be tested to determine what kind. The did a quick blood test to see if he has any antibodies to any of the tick borne diseases and none were detected but we will redo in 4 weeks. The tick left a hole in his side so we have him on antibiotics and iodine spray. Can you see the dollars adding up. Good thing we really love this dog. Came home and when DH arrived on the train Luther and I walked down to meet him. He was a very happy dog! Now today we have taken Luther to the park and he is resting. It is possible it will get to 90 today. Tomorrow will be hotter and more humid. But then a cold front comes through and we go down to 88 LOL. I am enjoying not complaining. And yes I am enjoying the World Cup. I did not think I would but the games have been pretty exciting.

Chris so glad you are enjoying the sun. It is awesome to not have to go out with coats etc. Glad that the walks are going so well. Makes you want to go out even more. Have fun with parents today.

Trudy wow what a fun day you have planned. Enjoy!

Waving to all!

Have a great day!

Good morning, ladies. Happy Father's Day to all the dads in your lives.

D is on call this wkend so he's been in and out a lot. We'll celebrate on Tues at the hospital with B & J. This morning he got to relax with blueberry muffins, coffee and his crosswords. Hopefully he won't get called out too much today. I'll be heading up to the hospital at lunch time to spend the afternoon with B. Yesterday we watched A Wrinkle In Time and both loved it. Today we'll watch a few more movies.

I enjoyed an early morning walk thru Colony Farm with Taz yesterday. Grabbed my camera and we headed over around 8:15. It was sunny, warm and so relaxing (except for the swallows who kept dive bombing Taz and one actually smacked him in the head LOL. They are very protective of their birdhouses). Later, Taz was howling to get outside to go after the bear that meandered down our street, across our lawn and over to our neighbors place. He has no fear of the bears. Then later after dinner as we walked along the river path, we came upon a big scruffy coyote who walked out of the bush. I was able to get the leash on Taz before he saw it. Not sure if he would have run to it or not but didn't want to take the chance. He went back into the bush but tracked us and followed us but didn't attack. Never saw the rest of them but they are always in a pack so the rest were in the bush, I'm sure.

Food-wise, my latest new veggie addition to my diet is taro. I'm loving it, it is the closest thing I've found to a potato kind of taste. My fave is mashing it with sweet potato. I steam them and then take the peel off, mash them chunky and keep them in the fridge for a week of meals. I'm going to the produce market this morning to see what else I can get for the week. I've been loving the roasted root veggies I've been eating but need to include other veggies too so will take a break this week from them and switch it up for other veggies.

Chris - sorry to hear about C's car problems. That is awesome about the insulin samples.

We got good news too about meds. B got approved for a chemo drug they want to give her but the first two applications for coverage were denied. This third attempt they finally approved 100%, good thing b/c it is thousands of dollars and will probably be ongoing for months/years, they say. Hopefully the hepatitis B re-testing will be negative (last week was positive) and if so then they can start that treatment.

Trudy - have a wonderful time at the restaurant for Father's Day.

Nancy - hope Luther will be ok. Does he get a tick vaccination? We have lots of ticks here too. Taz had had a few but was ok.

I've got to go, lots of things to do around the house, then out to run errands before heading up to the hospital.

Have a great day, everyone.

Hello girls,
I had lovely quiet weekend. But too lazy to come here yesterday.
We don't celebrate Father's Day here, but dad claims that this isn't fair, because parents should be equal and I'm totally agree.
So my weekend was just a ordinary. Today was grocery shopping and we go to cosmetic store too. I found my face cream on excellent deal. Strange because I have 3 expensive kind, but I mostly like how my skin feels from this cream, which today was for $1?!
Today weather here is rainy and I love it, but feels guilty because at some towns rain is make serious damages of people's property. Yesterday was sunny but not warm, so I take some Me time at the afternoon to read outside. I start one Mark Haddon's book, because I like his previous book for the incident of the dog's death. But this one, called "Red House", makes me feels really crappy. It's for the family, where husband cheating, kids thinks only for sex, and wife is tired, fat, mumbled person, who blame everyone else for her failures, except herself. The story sounds exactly as something written by my mom so to repel you from the marriage  . I'm not in mood for this kind of thoughts on the life right now.
I hate that this year I'm turn to a person who does not read. And I have this little sweet pile of books on my desk, all for different subjects. I'm start about 5-7, but can continue with any of it. What is wrong with me?!

Chris, Sorry to hear about Cait's car, but its looks pretty usual to all that drives. The story about Scott's friends is really nice, how lovely to see helpful person!
This idea for raising money for cause as a bday gift is cool! Umm, what actually is this cause about on simple language? I google it , but I can't understand it good. Your W layout is lovely!

Nancy, hehe, Luther is such a sweetie! Of course he have different walks style, because for them every member of the pack have different hierarchy. I hate when one of my dogs start follow some of the cats, even I'm forbidden this behavior. Ouch, so nasty about the tick! Our friend's dog was stung by a wasp on the eyelid. One of many reasons to hate this season!

Trudy, have fun on the Father's Day lunch! I wouldn't worry for the opinion of people who didn't allow poor woman to die in her own bed. If they understand the circumstances that hinder you, good, if not don't think it! Grief does not need to be flagged! But you can send a flowers of course! Tradition here is for a mourning wreath. I don't know what is for Canada, but it should have something like that for the members of family who can't travel.

Rae, great news about approving of B for a chemo drug! Fingers crossed B re-testing to be negative!

Oh, one update. This cat of my mom's friend will be on pills for 30 days, but everything is under control. And they are found new vet at the capital which strongly recommended, which will be helpful for me.
